An enjoyable, and at times surprising, experience. No schnitzel, but several experiences with authentic Austrian foods that we would not ever have had on our own. The guide, Lucas, is both knowledgable, experienced, and great company. We highly recommend this tour for couples/small groups.

This is absolute must do tour. If you miss this, you’re missing the best of Vienna. Indulge, immerse and celebrate. Taste the finer things Vienna has to offer with a professional chef that details the minute delicious items you will not find on your own.
Private tour with very knowledgeable guide, Lucus. Loved the wine tasting & areas we were brought, & tasted authentic Austrian food!
Our guide was excellent. Loved the more off the beaten path cakes, candies, local choices for cheeses, meats and wine. Full of suggestions on where to shop and dine. One our favorite tours on this trip to Vienna.
Lukas' Tour was fantastic ! Great Variety. Fine culinary insights of Viennese Cuisine. Plus great restaurant recommendations as well ! We'd do it all again ! Terrific !
The tour was well thought out with good food and interesting stops along the way. However I felt it was a little overpriced for what you got and Lucas had a strange attitude towards tourists - with quite a few disparaging comments. I felt this was a little inappropriate given we were clearly tourists ourselves and his business is dependent on tourism.
A fantastic cross section of the city's gastronomy. You have coffee, a cheesemonger, a baker, chocolatier, a butcher, etc - with a wine stop too. We've already (48 hours later) revisited two of the locations from the tour. It comes highly recommended from us.
Did food tour of Vienna our first day. Our guide, Lucas, is a former chef and very knowledgeable about food, wine, and cultural traditions of the region, and kept our group (11 people) very engaged the entire time. Adequate time was given for shopping at a candy and chocolate shop, both stops on the tour. At the end of the tour Lucas gave out maps of recommended restaurants and coffee houses. Overall an excellent experience! Thank you Lucas.
I really enjoyed this food tour! Definitely come hungry as there is a lot of food to eat. We had an excellent mix of authentic foods from sweet to savory. I thought all the details of the tour were very well done and I liked tasting authentic Austrian dishes and artisanal products I would not have known to try. Our tour guide was very funny and I appreciated hearing his insights on local food and products.
Great insight into the Vienna food scene in a relaxed, fun way, visiting a number of different places to sample lots of tasty treats, including some very nice local wine. Lukas, our guide, was incredibly knowledgable and the tour was very well thought out.
A wonderful way to start our visit to Vienna. We had a very enjoyable walk around Vienna talking and learning about local foods. Everything we sampled was delicious. It was personalized and our guide was patient and attentive to our needs.
Excellent tour! We had so much fun and got to taste local food. Our guide Lucas was very nice and very knowledgeable about the Vienna food experience. The tour was a perfect mixture of food and drinks, including wine. It was an awesome tour.
Our tour guide was amazing! Thank you so much Luke for showing us the sites and the wonderful food. Also thank you for the recommendation of the restaurant.
Lucas was a wonderful guide! He lead us through the city center, including its narrow, winding streets that we might not have found on our own. We got to visit a wide range of authentic, local restaurants—breakfast, coffee, chocolate, street food,, local wine etc. it was a fabulous experience and I would highly recommend this tour.
Fantastic food tour! I loved Harry’s (the owner and tour guide!) understanding and passion for the Vienna food culture. Coffee, pastries, cheeses, breads, sweets, meats, wines, chocolates…he knew so much and was such a great tour guide. I have gone on many food tours - this one was a great one. I would do again!
This was our first trip to Vienna and we are so glad that we booked the food tour at the beginning of our visit This set the scene and provided us with valuable information regarding the local food scene and more importantly where to to experience real Viennese food and traditions without being ripped of as a tourist. Lukas was a fantastic host who made us feel extremely welcome from the beginning of the tour. He gave us fantastic recommendations of local places to eat and drink and acting on those recommendations we were highly delighted when we visited those places. Lukas has a wonderful sense of humour and made the tour a real pleasure to be a part of.
We had a great time with Lucas on this food tour. We were lucky to be the only guests, so it felt like a private tour. He was funny, spoke perfect English, and has deep experience in the Vienna food scene. We have taken food tours in a dozen countries, and this one was well done. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone considering it.
A fabulous, tasty and informative way to spend a morning in beautiful Vienna! My mother and I loved our time with Lukas, tried new foods we wouldn't have otherwise tried, and learned so much about Viennese culture. Highly recommend!
Harry, our guide and having the wine cellar to ourselves! Sperla Cafe was equally interesting and it was a pleasure to know what coffee the Viennese drink.
This was a great food tour! Harry was an amusing, personable and knowledgable guide. There was a terrific variety among the food and drinks - savory, sweet, hot and cold. It was also a wonderful way to get to an introduction to the city itself - lots of walking through fabulous neighborhoods. I highly recommend this tour.
What a great tour! Learning about Viennese coffee house culture and a true apfel strudel. Also cheese was delicious at the Nachmarket. Wine, “meatloaf” bread, butcher and chocolate tastings were wonderful. Lots of food culture and a wonderful walk around the city center.
This was an outstanding tour. Harry did an amazing job of helping us experience the food culture in Vienna without focussing on all the well known foods most of us had already tried. The timing was perfect, the amount of food worked well, and Harry's knowledge and
My husband and I had a great time on the classic food tour. Harry was a fun, lively, and informative guide. We enjoyed the many and varied stops, including pastry, cheese, and wine.
We really enjoyed the extraordinary tour. Every single place was a highlight. Great selection of delicacies to taste. We had a lot of fun and were caught of the culinary diversity of our beautiful city of Vienna.
The guide Harry is very passionate about the food and culture. Good learning trip for all. He can answer all the questions you have. Save your stomach for this trip ! From Simon Singapore
I've been on a lot of food walking tours and this was a great one! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the selection of stops was fantastic. Lots of off-the-tourist track experiences that I wouldn't have discovered on my own. Plus they give you an amazing map filled with more recommendations at the end of the tour. Highly recommend!
We had an excellent experience learning about and tasting Viennese food and wine. The guides are fantastic! You get to explore places you normally wouldn’t venture to on your own, and they introduce you to important Viennese culinary traditions. They also provided great recommendations for the rest of our trip. We highly recommend this food tour!
Fun tour and great to help get to know the city. An interesting mix of different foods to enjoy. Highly recommended.
We had a great time on our tour! You could tell that he knew his stuff and went to every restaurant and store personally for his own deli that he owns. It was so fun to hear about the way food is made and experience the true, well made food in Vienna that we would have never been able to find on our own. Truly ate like a local and had a wonderful time doing it!
The tour was barely a tour. We had some bread, some cheap meat and some chocolate samples. The highlight if you want to call it that, is the guide takes you to his private wine cellar where you get to try two $10 bottles of wine. Do not take this tour. Really not worth the money and/or time. Nice guy but no history or information and it felt like you were getting a few free samples of food you could have received on your own by walking in any shop in Vienna. Bummer - we have done food tours before and they have been great, so we were exited to try this one...
Wish I had thoroughly read the reviews before booking. Just to preface, my husband and I have been on over 20 food tours around the world. We were the only 2 people on the tour. We've never been on an empty food tour, which was our first red flag. This was our least favorite host of all time. Lukas was rude, arrogant, and short with us. From the first stop he said he couldn't explain any history and we had to read it ourselves. Ugh OK?!? Which is very different from any other food tour. The cheeses we tried were disgusting. Only the cow milk one was edible. He questioned me why I only took a bite and gave it to my husband to eat. Which I found very uncomfortable. Other guides have not been this offended by guests not eating. Lukas does not like tourists he constantly made negative comments about tourists and touristy activity, also saying that the Muslim population in the market would sell their own mother if they could. Very uncalled for commentary. We told him we were going to a music / waltz event and he rolled his eyes and covered his face in disappointment. When he asked us if we knew much about wine he made us feel stupid about the knowledge we did know. We tried to blame cultural differences, but in all honesty he was extremely rude. When he asked what restaurants he worked at as a chef he said there was no point in telling us. Seriously??!?! What if we're looking for a recommendation. Tour was supposed to be 4 hours, it was barely 3 hours. He made us feel dumb the whole time. He was extremely difficult to talk to. He should stick to being a chef where being arrogant is acceptable, hospitality is not his forte. Save your money on this over priced tour! Luckily Vienna's food saved this tour. As nice Americans we thanked Lukas for the tour and tipped him. But we'll always keep our honesty to online reviews.
Had a great time on Friday with Lucas! He is very knowledgable, and showed us a great variety of food and wine from Vienna. We had a great time with some great food! This is the 2nd time of done this tour, and it was just as fun and enjoyable! Plenty of food and drink. We did not leave hungry. I highly recommend this tour.
Lucas was spectacular. He is a professional chef and really knew the best places to take us. It ranged from a historic coffee shop to a luncheonette serving pork “delicacies.” We’ve been on many food tours throughout Europe. This one ranked at the top. Highly recommended!!!
I got this food tour as a birthday present, me and my man are locals, so we really looking forward if there are some new places to go in Vienna. And yes, also as a local our guide Lukas find a few places, which we haven't seen before. It was a nice tour and we met very friendly people from the US and Canada. In total a good experience with tasty food in Vienna.
I wish we had more choice where to go and what to taste. It was strictly guide’s decision. Some of the food, like horse meat, was totally off and made me feel uncomfortable.
We had a lovely time with Lukas and felt he opened doors for us to places we’d never have seen. Interesting insights, especially about wine. Nice pace to the tour. Ate enough bites for both breakfast and lunch.
I have done many food tours all over the world and this was the least enjoyable one. The food itself was fine but the tour guide, Lukas, just seemed genuinely annoyed by tourists, including us. He made disparaging comments about tourists throughout the time we spent with him. There was definitely and edge and attitude; I don’t think he enjoys his job much. He told us he could not talk about or answer questions about history which surprised us as it has not been typical of our food tour experiences, but ok, rules are rules and I understand. In practice though, he wouldn’t answer questions about...anything, history or not. “What is that building over there?” and he would just stare at you. It was actually fairly awkward/uncomfortable. One stop was in a very interesting wine cellar; we asked “what was this cellar used for originally?” To which he answered curtly “didn’t you read the sign?” (I guessed we missed the sign at the entrance?)...and then didn’t tell us what it was used for. “I notice this bread is everywhere, what kind is it?” He stared at me and said “it’s just bread”...ok then. I asked about the Manner stores and why they were so popular...no answer. I felt like every question I asked was somehow really stupid. I finally just stopped asking anything because he would not answer, history or not. Some questions he did not answer because he said I wouldn’t remember the answer in 10 minutes so what was the point. It was pretty bizarre actually. My advice-find a different tour. I wish we had!
Lukas treated us to a fun and interesting food tour. From a Vienna coffee to cheeses, meats and wine, we couldn't have asked for a better variety. Lukas showed us places to which we will definitely return. Food was amazing. Moved quickly but never rushed. Visited places that were family owned with great history. Did not disappoint and will recommend to others.
The food on the tour was nice, and we we were taken to some good places. That being said, we were left with an unpleasant feeling regarding the guide, Lucas. He started by saying that he is not allowed to say anything about the history, buildings or other topics not regarding the food itself because he is not a licensed tour guide. As someone who is interested in history almost as much as food, I felt this was disappointing. All attempts to ask about such things were refused. In addition, many other questions were answered in a sarcastic and sometimes obnoxious way. He also seemed to rush ahead without waiting for us, giving the feeling that he has somewhere better to be at... I have been on many food tours around the world, and have always enjoyed the combination of history, local interesting stories surrounding the food sights and the guide was always welcoming such questions. This time it wasn't the case. The tour is not cheap and therefore I believe that it wasn't worth the price.
We had an absolute blast on this food tour with our guide, Lukas. Sticking to the city's center, we explored several different restaurants where no other tourists were going. We tried many different traditional Viennese food- dishes that we would have never tried on our own. Our guide was charismatic and funny. He indulged our questions and provided a seamless experience- pacing our walk and food with perfection. We highly recommend this tour!
We had so much fun on this food tour with local chef, Lukas today. He has a wealth of knowledge about the foods and wines of Vienna. Some places he takes you gets you discounts, like on chocolate. You are missing out if you don’t take this tour. So much fun!!!
This was a great way to spend half a day in Vienna. The variety of food was both excellent and surprising, and Lucas was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. At the end of the tour we had a good idea of where to re-visit and recommendations of where to eat for the rest of our visit, all of which turned out to be excellent food and good value.
Lucas was superb - informed, funny and a masterful guide. We visited shops off the beaten path that took us down narrow streets and hidden court yards. We sampled superb Austrian wines, tasted the freshest ham ever...tasted rare oils and vinegars, all the while engaging in delightful discussions about the Austrian experience. This tour made us feel right at home in a beautiful new city!
My husband and I did the classic food tour in early November. I cannot say enough about how fantastic it was! Lukas is a wonderful tour guide, he’s very personable and funny and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to local food. We tasted everything from unbelievable Austrian coffee, cakes, cheeses, breads, vinegars, chocolates and meats. We walked the Nachtmarket and tasted some of what it had to offer. The locations that he chose were perfect as they were historical, meaningful and just a little off the beaten path. We tasted wines in a cave like basement with an incredible history dating back to the 1400’s. We felt very fortunate that Lukas had access to such an amazing spot. The best part of this tour is that Lukas chooses foods and businesses that are an inherent part of Austrian food culture. They are not tourist hot spots, they are purveyors that in some cases have been around for centuries. Anyone can find a Wiener schnitzel in Vienna, but this tour digs so much deeper and shows you the true food scene here. If you truly love food then I highly recommend Lukas and Food Tours Vienna. It was definitely a highlight of our trip and I look forward to returning to Vienna to do both the Gourmet and wine tour in the future! 5 stars all the way:)
I booked this tour for my husband and I over a month in advance. Sounded like so much fun that we booked other day trips around it. Today we arrived for our tour, with tickets confirming today’s date, meeting time and place. No one showed so I called Classic Food Tour of Vienna and they told me today is a holiday in Vienna, businesses are closed (that’s true except all restaurants are open)so I don’t have a tour today. Why did they accept my booking over a month ago, along with $227, if there was no tour today because it’s a holiday? When I asked them about it he just said call Trip Advisor. Called them, actually much searching on Trip Advisor, found I needed to contact Viator, and after them trying to get me to reschedule this tour, no way, Viator finally got the ok from Classic Food Tours of Vienna, to refund my $227. There are other food tours in Vienna, don’t book this one.

Lukas is the kind of guy you want to hang out with talking food and drinks. Since he's a chef and a 100 Viennese we got the best of his local food knowledge. ... This is our third food tour we've taken through Viator NYC and Stockholm and highly recommend this tour. Frankly this would be the first thing I'd do as you get all the local knowledge of where to and where not to eat later in your trip.

Lucas is knowledgeable and friendly. Nice balance in foods and touring. Easy to find And started with good coffee and cake
We met our guide, Lukas, at Cafe Sperl. Location was easy to find, and Lukas was very friendly. Lukas is a chef, and his love of food, particularly local ingredients is obvious. We visited 7-8 places, including a century old cafe for strudel and coffee, and an underground restaurant for cheese and local wines. The thought put into our tour was appreciated, we wanted an authentic experience and Lukas certainly delivered. Would certainly recommend.
My husband and I loved this walking tour! We learned so much about the food culture in Vienna. Lukas was so incredibly knowledgable and funny. He gave great context about all the food we tried and answered everyone's questions. The walk was well laid out to where we never felt like we were walking too far from one place to another. It was well paced and we loved the range of foods we got to try. It was a great way to spend our morning and early afternoon in the city and was one of our favorite memories from our honeymoon. We will certainly be recommending this tour to anyone heading to Vienna!
Our food tour was just fabulous - great guide, and wonderful choices of food samples. Our guide was a chef and because of that, we were treated to some really wonderful food treats including sausage, pastries, breads, cheeses, wine, and beer.
