We purchased the extra tours to Schhonbrun Palace and Belvedere. I know that Big Bus has no control over this, but when you get there, you're given a time window that can be as much as 4 hours after you've arrived. We could not use either ticket, as we didn't have the whole day to spend at either place. Not pleased...

It has been a busy 2 days ! We saw all the sites but did not have time for the self guided tour. The Belvedere and Schoenbrunn castles and gardens are a must. The Hop on Hop off bus is a great way to learn about the city and some history and see some of the sites. St.Stephenplatt area is full of life, shopping and hidden treasures. St. Stephen’s Cathedral is magnificent to just go in and see the church. If we had another day we might have taken a couple of the tours. And…. The Ferris wheel and it’s views left me awestruck. The river cruise on the Danube was scenic although the time waiting for the levy and water to go down was quite long. A great value and mixture of Vienna’s sites!!!
Amazing! I've taken hop on hop off buses in many cities in the world and I can easily say this is the best! The staff are extremely helpful and special thanks to Stella who helped us with out our tickets to the palaces and boat cruise etc. She explained where to get off, where to go after getting off, which cruise to take and what to do after we had seen the palaces and taken the cruise. Fantastic service and all done with a cheery smile! I can highly recommend this tour.
Julian at Schönbrunn palace was very helpful! We got to visit Schönbrunn, Upper Belvedere and do the last 5:30pm boat ride in one day, but it was a tight fast pace. MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR VOUCHERS from the people by the bus before boarding the bus, you will need to get the tickets from the ticket booth at each location from the printed vouchers, it’s confusing and a pain. You will get great pictures from the bus.
Using the on/off bus as a way wound the city was very helpful. With two different routes we were able to see everything we wanted from the bus stops.
Like to share a special thanks to Richard ( tour operator stop 5 ) for sharing his knowledge and time he spent with us, he answered all questions we require His knowledge of vienna spot on very polite a great asset to the company , very respectful & friendly
Convenient to book everything at once, but weird that we still needed paper tickets even though they have an app.
a great way to see the most popular sites in vienna
Stella was absolutely fantastic! During our Big Bus tour in Vienna, she delivered one of the most engaging and enjoyable experiences we’ve had on a city tour. Stella is warm, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable — she shares historical facts and local stories in a way that feels lively and easy to follow. What we appreciated most was her ability to connect with everyone on board. She made sure people felt comfortable, checked in often, and answered questions with genuine enthusiasm. Her recommendations for places to visit and eat in Vienna were spot-on and felt very authentic, not touristy. Stella truly added a personal touch to the tour. If you’re in Vienna and lucky enough to have her as your guide, you’re in for a great time!
We liked being chauffeured by their driver big bus. The headphones were enjoyable to hear about the history of the different places. It would have been good to be told about the wait times at Schonbrun 240 minutes from the time we arrived. We ended up paying for tickets to see the apartments instead and did not go to the palace, also it would have been good to tell us that the Belvedere was a museum.
This was the perfect way to see the sights of Vienna, especially our 2nd day, when it was rainy. Everyone we met was very helpful.
We purchased the Big Bus Tour with the 4 attraction pass including the Chondron Palace tour. We were not informed that we still to get the tickets and fall in line for hours and so there were a lot of time waisted and not able to use what was on that package. The reason we prepaid this is to avoid waisted time and there’s a lot of miscommunication here including the Big Bus operators. I wouldn’t use Viator next time.
WARNING ON BUYING FULL TICKET. Sales team convinced us to take the tour and pay for access to the palace. But when you arrive at 11.30 and seek to use voucher told only available 4.30pM!!! Ladies says Big Bus tours know this will happen on most days but still sell the vouchers with no warning. Need to book direct in advance so waste of money and no warning given. Would not bother with blue tour and get U train out to palace - buying your own ticket in advance. MIS-SELLING IN THE EXTREME FROM BIG BUS
The combo package is a great value and expedites planning, but it's not the best On/Off Bus we've experienced. We always book on/off buses in our extensive travels. It helps acclimate us to the area and choose what is important to us to visit. In Vienna, they're efficient with timely drop off and pick up intervals, but the audio guide isn't helpful and the areas aren't clear. The Old Town (always our favorite in European cities) was not mentioned, not well marked or clear. Perhaps because Vienna is such a a big city and everything far away from the other, but the tour left us unimpressed with Vienna. It wasn't until we set out on foot exploring on our own, before we felt it's charm.
There is so much to see and this was a great deal. Everything was easy to access and the Big Bus staff were extremely helpful.
Great service! Everything was like expexted. I was able to enjoy all planned activities and it was easy to access. Thanks!
The information for using the ticket is very confusing and the app is too clunky! When you board the Big Bus, make sure the driver prints out ALL tickets for your activities. Our first driver didn't and another driver couldn't print out tickets because he didn't have the machine. The bus tickets do not allow entry to the attractions. You need to get the specific entry ticket at the attraction itself with your Big Bus ticket. The instructions where to get the entry tickets for the attractions are printed on the Big Bus ticket, but it varies from attraction to attraction. Be aware that you will not be able to get in the attraction straight away but only at the allocated time on your ticket. We lost a lot of time trying to figure out the system.
I would highly recommend the five in one combo. We were able to easily cover all of the attractions by using the hop on hop off bus, which made getting around a big city like Vienna very easy and convenient!
We enjoyed the two day pass tour of all the great sights. Just found it hard to find out where the stops were as there were no directions or GPS locations. In the brochure it shows a cruise booked but that's not true very disappointed.
The bus was useful in getting around, particularly to Schonbrunn as it is not walkable from most parts of the city. However, we opted to add the Daube Cruise and despite allowing an hour to get to the dock- we arrived late and missed the cruise. There was quite a bit of traffic, whic of course can't be foreseen, but perhaps there should be an estimated time to get on the bus from the city center to get to the cruise docks on time. We were unable to try to get there another time. We did love Schonbrunn and the Belvedere as well as just riding the bus through the city- however, the audio often did not give enough info about which exact spots they were discussing.
We found the Vienna pass to be great value for money. Sadly we had so little time we didn’t get to use it all but those we did were good value
The Hop-on Hop-off bus was great. Good commentary and a super way to get to and from all the attractions. It wasn't very clear how to get the ticket for the Vienna wheel - Wiener Riesenrad - so ended up buying our own tickets (so in effect we paid twice). I think the tickets were part of the walking tour ticket, but that wasn't at all obvious! Enjoyed the boat trip - Danube Canal (Donau Kanal), but there was a lack of commentary and it was pretty short (75 mins), but it was part of the package and was a different view of the city. Overall, good value and a very convenient way to get tickets to all the major attractions.
Bus route was good, lots of places of interest along the way. Enjoyed Belvedere, Schönbrunn ticket system was annoying has still had to redeem ticket at the palace and then wait over 3 hours to get in. Cruise was disappointing, so much graffiti along the route and not much else. Sat at the rear of the boat and was surrounded by passive smokers including kitchen staff From the boat. We were then dropped off at a completely different location, 40 mins away! We then waited a considerable time for the next bus to arrive to get back to start point. Waste of over 3.5 hours!
The bus is very hot and waits a long time at each stop. We loved the hop on hop off bus in Budapest as it was open-air and efficient but not so in Vienna. The package comes with a ticket to the Schönbrunn Palace, BUT you need to go there to book a time. We went a couple hours after our purchase, and they were sold out for 2 days!! So we wasted 1 hour getting there and the money for the ticket as we only had today and tomorrow in Vienna and no tickets available until after we left!! The ticket sales at the Palace said "this happens all the time...we tell them not to sell these tickets!" Very disappointing!!
The tour bus was great, but I really want to thank Big Bus and their staff Chris and Rico for going beyond the call of duty. I left my eyeglasses on a Vienna Big Bus on a Thursday morning. I assumed I would not be able to get them back, but I eventually went ahead and emailed customer service. They got back to me and checked with the local office and their team had found them and kept them safe. I was able to go by the office on Sunday and retrieve the glasses from Chris and Rico. Thank you so much!
We had a fantastic experience with the Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Tour in Vienna! The multiple stops allowed us to explore the city’s stunning structures, museums, and palaces at our own pace, all while enjoying the informative audio guide. A special shoutout to Rafiki, who was incredibly insightful, helpful, and engaging. He provided excellent recommendations for places to eat and visit and impressed us with his fluency in both French and English and of course fluent in the local tongue German. His guidance truly enhanced our experience. Highly recommend this tour!
Very handy to have the tickets for the palaces pre booked so I didn’t have to queue at the ticket office. Staff on the hop on/off bus tour were brilliant. The routes were good too
I regret to say that I did not enjoy this event due to unforeseen difficulties. Despite paying $125.64, I was unable to load the voucher. I attempted to communicate with the Big Bus staff, but unfortunately, they did not speak English, and showing them the confirmation number did not resolve the issue. I subsequently contacted the tour operator via text message, and although they provided instructions, the problem persisted. The issue was escalated to multiple tour operators, with the exception of the last one, who was extremely helpful in resolving my concerns. Regrettably, I did not receive the voucher for this particular booking (number 1195713165), and as a result, I missed the opportunity to visit the Belvedere and take the cruise, effectively rendering my payment of $125.64 futile.
Disappointed that it took more than 40 minutes for bus to come. So it was too late to get in my scheduled next stop. It was also freezing out - that didn’t kid no help. Did see other on and off buses comeby on the meantime.
Ferris wheel was great and Big bus Tour was excellent! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable! The bus was clean and comfortable and on time.
Yakoub is great 👍 , nice tour.
Arriving in Vienna for the first time and not having carried out any program we relied on the 5 experiences tour to get a general experience of the activities. It was an exceptional choice I did the activity the day after we arrived because I was afraid of not being able to find the access points to convert the vouchers. No problem because in the central units of interest there is always a point service. Fabulous the hop in bus we used as our means of transport in addition to the activities visited. The only flaw the races end at 18.30 so we arrived example : at the prater and to go back we were near the lookout. We used a tram ticket. I highly recommend it because single tickets cost more than the full package.
We stayed in Vienna 3 days and using the Big bus helped us a lot.... highly recommended to see everything about this magical city. Thanks to Federico Ariosto de BIG BUS we booked the tour for every day with entrance to the Belvedere, Ferris wheel, Danube cruise and Schönbrun Palace at a very affordable price for two people. We used the big bus several times a day because very served and convenient to see everything and move comfortably as it passes very often. We thank Federico because he was fabulous and very kind for the valuable advice and suggestions.... really prepared, very kind and always available.... it was a very valuable help... if you go to Vienna I really recommend you take the Big Bus and ask absolutely about him who will help you for anything. Fabulous experience!!! thanks Faith!!!
Calm the visits to the castles, I went to Bratislava by bus, it was a pity there was no ferry to come from Bratislava, I was two dis and a half in Vienna and managed to visit Schonbrun, Belvedere and Cathedral.
The information was not too clear. The bus itself was fine, but the price for the service seemed excessive.
Excellent option to meet fast No complication to redeem the ticket for tickets and the Bus attendant , excellent person Highly recommended
