Fantastic Whisky and people great place to visit 😁 start of a Hens weekend which was a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stewart is absolutely fantastic & his tour is very informative & interesting. Stewart is so passionate & very knowledgeable about his craft. He & his staff on hand made you feel so welcomed & Stewart’s personality was very entertaining. You weren’t just in number of a production line of taste testing. The premises are extremely clean & the atmosphere is great. Great morning, my husband couldn’t fault any of his whiskeys, all of very high standards. Would highly recommend.
A very pleasant and informative tour of a home grown whisky distillery. The host Stuart is a wealth of knowledge and give you a very good experience of how to enjoy the flavours of the whisky they produce.
The Chief's Son Distillery offers a fantastic experience that enriches the senses and explores the art of creating an award wining whisky. The owners offer a fantastic account of their personal journey, the challenges of production all while taking you through the subtle differences as part of the tasting of their signature whisky. Highly recommend this establishment on the Mornington Peninsula, it is well worth the visit.
Thank you to all staff. The tour was really informative, the staff was really friendly and the hospitality was great. If this is your kind of thing, I can recommend you pay a visit to the Chief's Son Distillery. Thank you for a great experience.
One of the most personable distillery tours we've done to date. Wish I'd booked in for the Chocolate and Whisky Tasting, which we'll do next time
We've taken tours at many distilleries, here and overseas, so our interest is in tasting a range of the available whiskies and having an in-depth conversation. Both these were well taken care of during our visit to Chief's Son. Our host told us about the history of the place and its founders and she knew details about every expression on offer. We enjoyed some very nice drams and just had to buy some to take with us. Highly recommend the 'Distiller's Choice' and 'Specialty' tasting options. Well worth a visit.
Excellent informative overview of the history of Chief's son and the vodka brand as well as the processes involved in brewing both whisky (and vodka). Mr Makintosh is a craftsperson whether he likes to be known as one or not! Chief's son were also very generous with our tastings and the gift we got to take home. Thanks for a great Saturday morning
Very comprehensive information with generous cheese platter and whiskey tastings. Also great to fill a bottle to take home.
Great facility, great service. Stuart was very informative and knowledgeable about the everything Whisky. And above all the product was second to none. It was amazing. Great to do with friends and family.
I highly recommend this distillery for a wonderful introduction to some of the best whisky's available. Stewart (the founder) is not only a really nice and sincere man, but also spends personal time instilling a wealth of knowledge and makes sure the customers questions are answered to the full. I have already told a lot of my friends that they must pay this venue a visit. I will be there again also.
Very detailed and interesting explanation of the whisky distilling process by the very skilled and passionate owner. There were tastings of four whiskies and a cheese platter, followed by further samples in the main processing room. And each attendee gets to fill a small bottle from one of the premium whisky barrels take home.
When we first arrived at what is a factory in Somerville, we weren’t expecting much of an experience or tour. The shop/ lounge area is well appointed and comfortable. Stuart then took us all on a wonderful journey telling us his families Scottish roots, how he became a whiskey maker, and about the wonderful processes and equipment they use all while tasting whiskeys and feasting on a great cheese platter. We had such an enjoyable tour. I would recommend this to anyone.
Really well delivered informative yet easy to understand overview of what these guys are about and the rich history in the making of this boutique company. Not just for whisky lovers this one, of course the whisky is a big bonus. You won't be disappointed.
We had a great time tasting whisky and listening to the history of the McIntosh family. Stuart rolls out a good tale and is quite charming/amusing in his delivery. A fun way to spend a few idle hours, couldn't recommend more. Well done Chiefs Son
Passionate host. Great tasting of thier product range and the showings of thier making processes. Extensive knowledge about products and family history which was very entertaining. Unfortunately it was very expensive particularly as Viator was paid in US$ somehow. Why??? Thx.
We first sampled this fantastic drop at the Good Food & Wine Show in Melbourne. My hubby was convinced their Single Malt was direct from the Scottish Highlands. We just had to visit the Distillary. Distillery Tour with Cheese Board ... here we come. The distillery is well laid out and very modern. Our tour was held by the chief distiller and co-owner Mr Stuart McIntosh. He held our interest for a good 1 1/2 hours. We learned so much ... from the beginning .... 900 years ago to today. Not saying any more than that. You will need to visit for yourself. The cheese board was great and the tastings were stunning. Will certainly be going back. LOVE THE VODKA too.
Visited for the tour last weekend. All the staff were warm, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. Wonderful personal touch as the tour was lead by the founder complete with family history and stories. The Whisky and Vodka featured is some of the best we've had outside of the Scottish Highlands. Quality is superb and well worth the purchase price. Couldn't fault this as a weekend visit and their hospitality is beyond reproach. Thoroughly recommend this to everyone.
Felt right at home with the distillers! Lots of whisky banter, overlooking the copper stills, aged barrels and the best part was stealing whisky straight from the barrel.
Stuart was a fantastic host, providing a fascinating insight into the creation of whisky as well as the genesis of Chief’s Son and its evolution (created and run by Stuart and his wife). A delicious platter of local cheeses complemented the four tastings, with Stuart offering extra tastings of some other varieties. Encouraging us all to help ourselves to a take-home sample by drawing from the barrel using a whisky thief was a nice touch! Thoroughly recommended for anyone who has even the slightest interest in whisky!
