Admission was inexpensive and doesn't require pre-booking, there's a guide at the top of the lighthouse that provides you information on its history and use. On our visit it was windy so half of the outdoor area was closed off for safety. We spent just around 15mins going up and coming down, the view from the top is the best in the area. Recommended

Itinerary
Take a self-guided Tour and discover awesome coastal views and a quirky history of the lighthouse keepers. Find out about the Shipwreck Coast and the importance of lighthouses to keeping ships safe. We have an awesome collection of historical local photographs that complements the tour and depicts what life was like in the area when the lighthouse was permanently manned. The tour then enters the lantern room and then out onto the balcony for the spectacular 360 degree views of the Great Ocean Road, Eagle Rock Marine Sanctuary and the Otways.

Very informative guides, fantastic view at the top. The lighthouse is unmanned but still functions. A challenging climb up narrow stairs, but there are staging areas along the way to take a break. Keep an eye on the wind speed for the day, as it can be too windy to go out on the landing at the top.
We parked at the West side of the town and walked up to the lighthouse along the path overlooking the ocean. From the lookout you get a great view of the lighthouse and along the coast. The lighthouse tour was $12.50 per person. A very knowledgeable guide gave an introductory history to the lighthouse and the seas along this part of the coastline. After this you climb the 136 steps that take to the top of the lighthouse with information points on your journey up. At the top we came out and walked around for 360-degree views. For visitors with a wheelchair or pushchair, there is better access from the East side, and whilst it’s not possible to go up the lighthouse, you will still be able to get to the lookout.
Today we visited the lighthouse, parked in the bottom carpark near the toilet facilities, there is a great covered barbecue area there also. About a 900 metre walk from there up to the lighthouse, nice ocean views on the way. We bought tickets at the lighthouse for the self guided tour from the helpfull lady stationed there, $12.50 per adult. She gave us lots of information about the lighthouse before we went inside and worked our way up the steps to the top where another young lady met us for a chat also. The lighthouse is as it was when built in 1891, it was well built and has stood the test of time. Originally going to be built of local quarried stone but it was deemed to be too soft for the conditions it had to face so all the stone was crushed and used in the concrete structure it became. All the interior fittings and the light etc were made in England and shipped over, it is all in prime condition, well made. This is still a working lighthouse, over the years it must have saved many a ship and lives on this beautiful but treacherous coastline. We really enjoyed the visit and surrounding area.
Well worth the visit. Very informative and guides were on hand with extra stories/history. Easy and safe to climb. Fascinating that it still is a working lighthouse.
We were lucky to visit on a sunny day. Very knowledgable staff. Awesome 360 degree views (obviously). Good climb up but very doable. Quite a bit of history to read. There were two other platforms that you can walk out to for a view back back to the lighthouse or out to sea. There is also a cafe a couple of minutes walk down the road which had a good selection of meals and snacks
Great little tour of the lighthouse! Guides are very informative and provided for a loverly experience. Lots of information and great views
It seems that the Split Point Lighthouse operators do not provide third-party booking sites with current information on cancellations. We arrived with our pre-paid tickets, having driven two hours with our international visitors, to find the Lighthouse fully booked with school groups for the day on which we had booked. I will say that Viator were very prompt in providing a refund - but they can't give back the time, and we missed out on an experience we were all anticipating eagerly. More co-ordination between provider and booking service is required.
Anyone who grew up in the 90s will recognise this Lighthouse from Round the Twist - and aside from the connection to the TV show, it is a fantastic and educational experience to visit. Well worth the $10 ticket to go inside with a guide and get a spectacular view from the top. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to chat and answer questions. It's worth doing the short walk to the lookouts as well for more fantastic scenery. We stopped at the little cafe in the former stables, just down the road, for some cold drinks and morning tea - also highly recommended.
We drove there to see the lighthouse and parked the car inside the designated "PARKING" area for about 90 minutes, along with many other cars. Upon returning, all the cars on that side had a parking ticket, $192 !!!! The signage of 'no stopping' is not really expected in the area which has a 'PARKING' sign at the entrance. That side of the parking can easily be closed for cars!!!!!!
Split Point Lighthouse is the guardian of Victoria's Shipwreck Coast. This treacherous piece of water has been the graveyard of many ships especially during the 19th century, the Age of Sail. To get a great view of the Southern Ocean, you can climb to the lighthouse's balcony.
An absolutely amazing experience! We went along with childhood memories of Round The Twist, but also just wanted the amazing experience of climbing a lighthouse. We were given an introduction and some great history when we arrived, and then we headed up to the top. It's quite a decent walk up, but plenty of great information to stop and read along the way. The view from the top is quite something else though. We could've spent ages up there. There's a guide at the top to help control the amount of people out on the viewing area at any one time - we were able to be out there for quite a while, but I could see this could get busy during peak seasons. Like a few people mentioned, it does cost a reasonable amount for a short visit. But knowing the money goes back into helping preserve the lighthouse makes it a whole lot more palatable. We also didn't find the parking a problem at all - the signs were pretty clear we felt, and there was quite a bit of parking on the eastern side of the lighthouse.
The guide ladies where fantastic and could answer all questions, it’s a fantastic little light house and we’ll worth looking at
I visited the inside of the lighthouse, learnt its history and took photographs inside and outside of the lighthouse. Would come back again.
There was one guide at the top of the lighthouse and one at the bottom. Both were very willing to answer questions and provide information about the lighthouse and area.
What a fantastic experience to climb this fabulous lighthouse. It is not a Strenuous climb- you just need to pace yourself- but when you get to the top you are rewarded with the best views imaginable. Highly recommend this activity.
Lovely old lighthouse with lots of history. Price for entry was reasonable, although why we are paying to see things kept going with our tax dollars is beyond me. Lovely climb and views from the too and nice helpful staff.
It’s not a tour or even a self guided tour as we were given no information to take with us of the history of the lighthouse etc. beautiful location and beautiful views though. If you loved the show, Round the Twist, you’ll get a buzz out of visiting their lighthouse.
Caroline our guide was great and full of interesting facts about not only the lighthouse but also the entire costal line where the lighthouses were situated Definately recommend A+++
The lighthouse has various viewing platforms with beautiful views of the Great Ocean Road coastline. The lighthouse can only be entered by means of a guided tour. The tour takes 30 minutes and cost AUD 14.00. It was quite nice to see a lighthouse from the inside and enjoy the view from the roof. However, the visibility was not much better than from the above observation platforms. In addition, the wind blew quite strongly upstairs. The guide's information was interesting, but it was also mostly on a board next to the lighthouse. Conclusion: The lighthouse should be visited because of the beautiful area and the viewpoints. The tour into the interior is not absolutely necessary.
