The food was lovely. But the evening was ruined by the sheer coldness. It was 4 degrees outside on a July Friday night. They placed was near empty - just us and another group. It was freezing inside. They had a fireplace but let the fire go out before 7.30 pm. We asked if they could turn on heating but they refused. The other group left due to the cold and we did soon after. At over $190 for two two people I think it's reasonable to expect the heating to be on.

Do not book this place!!! Cattle Creek Estate was one of the worst accommodation experiences we’ve had. The property looked deserted on arrival and we waited around 15 minutes with nobody at reception before someone finally appeared to check us in. The room had a strong musty smell the moment we opened the door. The furniture was badly worn and damaged, black couches faded white from age and wear, chipped and marked tables, peeling paint on door frames, and overall the room felt neglected, old, and poorly maintained. It looked nothing like the photos online. For the price charged, the condition of the accommodation was unacceptable. Very disappointing experience overall and definitely not somewhere we would stay again. Doesn’t respond for refunds. We left within 10 minutes of arrival. Save your money and stay elsewhere.
Such a disappointing stay. I have reached out to the Estate regarding our recent day. Sadly, I am still waiting for a reply. We stayed at the Main lodge. The house is very tired, curtains hanging off the wall, massive holes in the net Curtains. They left a lovely breakfast in the fridge, but no oil to cook it with, we had to clean the pans before using, also had to clean the microwave as it was filthy. Half the lightbulbs didn’t work or missing, and the gas fire in the lounge didn’t work. We paid over $1000 for two nights. It definitely wasn’t worth it. We did eat in the restaurant, the food was lovely, but only two other people were dining and there was no atmosphere at all. The waitress was very lovely and attentive. We will not be going back.
I brought a winery tour group here on a weekday and it was very nice. Ample parking with definitely enough room to maneuver a bus in and out of the carpark. Gardens and lawns are well kept and everything looked clean, tidy and welcoming. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the tiled pathway sloped down to the entrance. It was a wet day and I expected them to be slippery - however they weren't. There is a handrail though if you require so they've thought of everything! I used the bathrooms and they were spotless! Not a mark on walls, floor or surfaces so I would definitely recommend this establishment as there's no doubt every other inch of the place will be the same. Places that have this attention to detail are hard to find and I would rate it within the top 5 I've taken groups to in all of Victoria.
We stayed here as we have a wedding to attend in Yarra Junction. We were expecting luxury accommodation and it looked like it might have been once upon a time. It was comfortable, but not the cleanest. The outside could do with a wash down and a sweep. Old cobwebs inside and out. The bathroom was nice enough and would have been luxury when it was first done, now just dated, but pleasant. The shower was beautiful and hot. Could do with a new shower head. The towels were absolutely beautiful. The bed was firm but very comfortable. The linen was fresh and lovely. I think they should have electric blankets for those very cold nights. I had a hot water bottle, because I feel the cold. The heater in all rooms were great. The breakfast supplied was really nice. Bacon, eggs, fresh bread, fruit cup, cereal and juice. We cooked up a storm in the morning. Yummy. The TV was terrible. The remote was gross, broken and stuck together with tape that became sticky. TV not working properly. Should have a smart TV. I can't believe they don't. The gardens are nice enough. The lake beautiful to look at with all the Lilly pads with flowers. Sadly, but not surprisingly the fountain sprayer had fallen over. The grape vines out the back have been forgotten. I was comfortable. Not the standard I expected. I could see that the place was once amazing. It just needs a little money spent on it and some TLC. Would be okay if the price was cheaper.
