This was a sundowner with drinks and nibbles inclusive. Service was excellent, nibbles were plentiful. Look at the layout of the boat you want ot book. This had 4 person tables on each side, at a right angle to the direction of travel. Worked well for the four of us. This was great all round.

Beautiful amazing experience Food was lovely. Informative guide.. Well organized from pickup to drop off.
This was a great trip from start to finish! We were picked up on time and swiftly transported to the boat. We had a good view from the top deck! The drinks flowed freely and the snacks were good. The captain was just awesome, finding lots of wildlife for us to see and getting an ideal spot for those sunset shots! Highly recommend!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Zambezi River Cruise Fantastic trip with Wild Horizons. Great food, beautiful scenery and a really relaxing way to see the Zambezi. The absolute highlight was watching a herd of elephants swim across the river — an incredible experience we’ll never forget. Highly recommended
The sunset dinner cruise was much more than we hoped for. The drinks and food were very, very good and we saw more wildlife than expected including hippos, crocodiles, storks, and even an elephant. It was a wonderful evening.
Lots of different companies offer late afternoon/sunset cruises on the river, where you may see hippos, crocodiles, birds etc. as you float along, enjoying beverages & surprisingly good snacks. Relaxing, with beautiful views.
Wonderful experience on the Malachite with very tasty food (choice for starter, main and dessert) and great service. Gorgeous setting and very relaxing
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spectacular Sundowner Cruise on the Zambezi River What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon on the mighty Zambezi River. We were picked up from our hotel and transported to the wharf, where everything was exceptionally well organised from start to finish. Boarding was seamless, and the friendly, welcoming staff made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. As we cruised along the river, we were treated to a beautiful traditional welcome with local dancers and singers performing on the riverbank—a lovely introduction to the experience. A delicious selection of canapés was served throughout the cruise, with unlimited alcoholic beverages and soft drinks available, ensuring everyone was well looked after. The wildlife sightings were fantastic. We saw elephants coming down to the river, crocodiles basking along the banks, pods of hippos, and an abundance of beautiful birdlife. The highlight, of course, was the breathtaking African sunset. Watching the sky transform into brilliant shades of orange, pink and gold while drifting along the Zambezi was simply unforgettable. After an incredibly relaxing and memorable cruise, we were comfortably transported back to our hotel. A beautifully organised experience with wonderful hospitality. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Victoria Falls.
Wellington and his crew were very welcoming and informative. The hot snacks were very good and a range of alcoholic and soft drinks. The Zambezi is stunning. We saw the rising mists from Victoria Falls, lots of birds, hippos and crocodiles. We also witnessed a memorable and stunningly beautiful sunset.
Wild Horizons provided all of our transportation and 2 of our tours during our party of six visit to Victoria Falls. Joel was our driver and guide at the Falls. He did an outstanding job with the tour of the Falls. We had a very and fun experience. Joel was also able to teach us a great deal about Zimbabwe history, culture, and food. It was clear that he worked hard to acquire his impressive knowledge. We also took Wild Horizons’ Malachite Dinner Cruise which was fantastic, great food, drink, and service. The staff was amazing. From the boat we saw hippos, elephants, and crocodiles. I would absolutely book with Wild Horizons again.
Great experience! Didn't see too many animals, and the ones we did were pretty hidden, but the staff was incredible, as was the sunset. Drinks were flowing. Wish there were more vegetarian options available for food. Everyone can enjoy vegetarian, but not everyone eats meat.
We saw elephants frolicking close by, and curious hippos raising their snouts from the water, and many colorful birds. And an awesome sunset!
Pick up from the hotel, nice furnishings on the boat, good snacks provided and the drinks were plentiful and good quality. The cruise lasted 2 and a half hours and the driver seemed really invested in getting you up close to the wildlife and good shots of the sunset. Staff were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We did this cruise 2 days after doing a much more expensive one which advertised itself as 'premium' and this was much better for half the price.
Me and my family had a wonderful time. The experience was surreal. Will definitely book it again. No complaints, staff were super friendly as well.
It was an amazing experience with a lot of good food and snacks, a huge variety of unlimited drinks and friendly staff. The commentary was helpful and we were lucky to spot hippos, crocodiles and elephants on the bank. Watching the sunset from the boat was magical. Also, the boat was very clean and lovely (great aesthetics for pictures). I loved it.
We were very disappointed by our Zambezi River sundowner cruise experience with this company. Firstly, the tour operator picked us up 30 minutes earlier than he had communicated he would, so we had to rush to get ready as we had just gotten out of the shower. Next, we arrive to the boat and all the cushions are soaking wet and the floor was flooded. Zimbabwe has a rainy season every year, so they should have been prepared for rainy weather. Lastly, the food was cold and the alcohol they had available was all very cheap looking. We do NOT recommend this tour company.
A sunset cruise on board the Zambezi Royal with Wild Horizons for us, was a mesmerising and unforgettable experience, that we would return for again and again!! A superb way to relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Zambezi River, I've said this many times but we never come to the Falls without doing one. Wild Horizons promised finger snacks. What we got however, was an abundance of delicious, freshly made and beautifully plated goodies that seemed like they were never going to stop coming through to the table during the cruise. From the homemade potato crisps, biltong, dried mango and cheese straws, Caprese Salad kebabs (with a basil oil dressing), Spinach and Feta Spring rolls, Lemon Garlic Prawns, Coconut Crumbed Fish, Mini Mushroom Wellingtons in a puff pastry, Chimichurri Beef Kebabs, finished off with Profiteroles with a blueberry cream filling.. ..These were not just any finger snacks. Stepping into Masterchef, the Zambezi River edition. We simply had to try EVERYTHING, and did!
One of the perks of the Approach group we are on was a cruise on the Zambezi River. All beverages were included and with the relaxing pace we were able to spot wildlife along the shore. One grisly sight was Nile crocodiles feeding on an elephant.
Booked a sunset cruise with Wild Horizons. Thought I was getting the Zambezi. Instead, I got the car park at my hotel. They didn’t show up. Called five minutes after the pickup time – “oh yeah, we’ll send a driver.” Forty-five minutes later, still standing there like a lemon. Called again. Their solution? “Come on a breakfast cruise tomorrow.” Brilliant. Nothing says “romantic African sunset” like cold eggs and instant coffee at 8 a.m. Told them I wouldn’t. Asked for a refund. Had to remind them reception was closing in ten minutes, otherwise I’d have been stood there arguing with a locked door. Emailed afterwards, said I might forgive the shambles if they refunded and rebooked for another date. They ghosted me for two days. I’ve had better communication from dead relatives. So, if you fancy paying for a cruise and instead experiencing the unique thrill of waiting around in shorts while the mosquitoes eat you alive, this is the outfit for you.
We started our holiday with a Sundowner Cruise on the Zambezi River and it was spectacular! Such a great way to kick off the adventure. Good food, friendly hosts and lots of hippos!
Zambezi sunset cruise was absolutely breathtaking — golden skies, calm waters, and the soothing sounds of nature all around. A truly unforgettable African moment.
The sundowner cruise was absolutely beautiful — peaceful, scenic, and the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. Watching the sunset over the Zambezi River with a drink in hand was pure magic. The boat was comfortable, the vibe was mellow, and the crew was friendly and attentive. It was such a relaxing experience and definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
The sunset cruise on the Zambezi river was a magical experience—relaxing, scenic, and well organized. We saw hippos while enjoying unlimited drinks and delicious snacks. The sunset over the river was truly unforgettable, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. A must-do in Victoria Falls!

Peaceful evening on the boat. Met some lovely people and saw so many hippos and birds. Sunset was beautiful. Only criticism is you could offer drinks more frequently as we had to keep asking for a top up and we requested veggie food but got served meat.
I went with a group as an optional tour from a Kiboko Safari and was it worth it!!!! We left just before sunset and saw lots of hippopotamuses (hippopotami??), crocodiles, elephants and birdlife. And then the sunset!! Absolutely gorgeous. The dinner was superb: beautifully plated, hot and tasty. Dessert was to die for. Service was excellent. Can highly recommend this to finish off a day touring around Victoria Falls.
Lovely crew and seamless pick up from our hotel. The boat was very comfy. Generous drinks and snacks. We were lucky to see many hippos on our journey and the sunset was gorgeous.
Our sunset cruise on the Zambezi was absolutely wonderful! The scenery was stunning, and we enjoyed lovely snacks and drinks on board. We spotted hippos, waterbuck, and a variety of birdlife, making it a wildlife lover's dream. A huge shoutout to Captain Jameson and the crew for their excellent service and knowledge. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the beauty of the Zambezi River.
This river cruise was an amazing experience. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, kind and professional starting from the driver (Nyasha), to everyone on board. It was my husband's birthday and I gave them a very last minute info on that and they went out of their way to make it special, not to mention the actual river is beautiful with lots of incredible animals to see. A special thank you to Bheki, Thambi, Patrick , Mike, Shamiso, Godknows, France and Sevia for a wonderful experience. Please give them a pay raise! Thank you! 🙂
Truly a great experience and delicious food! The great Zambezi river does not dissappoint! Great team on board!
Crew on the Finfoot were friendly. Drinks were plentiful. Saw a few hippos and crocs. Since I was alone, I was seated with a lovely Zimbabwean couple who made the experience even better as they shared their local knowledge.
Excellent cruise for our Christmas dinner (so wanted to get it right) The staff are super friendly, the food is delicious - the Christmas menu had prawn cocktail starter, filet of beef , stuffed turkey and Christmas pudding options. And we had complimentary cocktails and wine all evening. Highly recommend if visiting Vic falls. This is a super, high standard excursion. And I am extremely fussy. And yes there were also Hippos! So some lovely pics.
Excellent value friendly staff, saw Hippos elephant and crocodile. The best part you can drink as much as you like beet wine and spirits. The snack food provided was also excellent.
We never received our exact pick up time, so we had to contact Wild Horizons to find it out. Our pick up time was 1 hour before the boat ride and we were picked up on time from our hotel. The boat ride was calm and peaceful. Each group had their own table and chairs and were given a festive welcome drink. We had choices of different drinks, including water, sodas, wine, beer, and spirits. For snacks, we had chicken wings, meatballs, sausage, mini vegetable quiches, and cheese breadsticks. The servers worked hard making sure everyone had what they wanted to eat or drink. Our particular cruise didn't see a huge amount of animals, but there were some elephants hiding behind bushes on the side of the river, hippos that were submerged in the water and would pop up every so often, and various birds. The African sunset was glorious and was a highlight of our boat trip.
Originally scheduled for a pick-up at our hotel at 5:00 PM. Upon checking in with our hotel's front desk earlier in the day, we were informed that the pick-up time had been changed to 5:30 PM. At 4:50 PM we received a phone call from the hotel desk informing us that our transport was on site and impatiently waiting for us. We hustled down to the pick-up location and were informed by the driver that the cruise is scheduled to BEGIN at 5:00 PM. Our bus stopped at another hotel to pick-up guests and while the driver was out of the vehicle two other couples informed us that they, too, had been provided incorrect pick-up times. Two ladies travelling together stated that they were given a 4:00 PM pick-up time and had waited around until after 4:30 PM. The other couple's situation was similar to ours. Once we got to the dock and boarded the vessel, the experience turned better. However, another Wild Horizons vessel was pulling away from the dock at the same time as our vessel - at approximately 5:30 PM. So much for a 5:00 PM departure time. The cruise was OK. We did either slow down or stop to see a crocodile, some hippos, and two elephants during our cruise. At no time was there any commentary by the crew. Although service was good, the food was merely so-so. Overall, this excursion was just OK.
Arrived in Zimbabwe and went on this cruise almost immediately. Friendly staff who provided a delicious meal and included drinks. Saw hippos, elephants and crocs. A lovely experience showcasing the Zambezi river and Zimbabwean friendliness.
Vincent at Wild Horizons Victoria Falls arranged several short tours for us, including Devil's Pool and Livingstone Island, Bike Ride, lunch at a local home, Zambezi River Cruise, Village walk in Namibia and a Game Drive at the Pricate Game Reserfe to see Rhinos. Loved all of it. Especially loved the Devil's Pool swim. Vincent was very friendly and helpful.
This was a relaxing cruise and we got the chance to see some animals and enjoy a beautiful sunset. However, it wasn’t clear when booking that you don’t actually see Victoria Falls during the cruise. Additionally, I would be careful booking through Viator as Viator had incorrect information on pickup time. It also didn’t seem to have frequent communication with the tour operator, as we added a person a few days prior which the tour operator wasn’t aware of and messages sent to the tour operator via Viator were not answered. The snacks were pretty good, despite being a bit cold.
A memorable evening. Super comfortable seating around tables on the upper deck with great views. (The upper deck does give slightly better views so it’s worth getting a table there if you can - first come, first served). The promise of simple “snacks” definitely do justice to what we got: really well presented, generous and varied they made a great start to the cruise. Generous drinks (we recommend the G&Ts!) Just the right amount of commentary/explanation from the captain - in person, not over a loud speaker. A fascinating route which gave glimpses of the rapids above the Falls as well as varied shoreline scenery. Breathtaking sunset. We glimpsed hippos and crocodiles, and whenever they were visible the boat got as close as it could. Don’t expect a river safari though; the experience is all about ambiance, scenery and sunset. We loved it!
Omw!! This experience topped off my Victoria Falls tour. Wow!! From the driver guide who did the transfers to and from the boat, to the staff on the boat, to the food, and of course, the magical sunset. Words cannot describe how lovely this was!! Kudo's to the team!!
Wild Horizons disappointed us the day before by not picking us up. However the next day, they made up for it by rescheduling our cruise and a complimentary dinner. We were impressed by their team helping us out. A poor experience was exceeded by making up to us.
Comfortable seating, nice hot hors d’oeuvres, open bar, commentary, beautiful sunset. Wonderful way to end the day on the Zambezi river.
We really enjoy the sunset cruise. It is a wonderful experience to see sunset and wild animals in zambezi river.
The service offered by this company is exceptional from meeting us at the airport they never missed a beat. Zambezi Dinner and River Cruise was excellent. We also did a tour of the falls followed by lunch at the look out Cafe with them as well as a trip into Botswana for a river cruise to see hippos lots and lots of hippos followed by a game drive thru Chobe National Park. They also arrange a trip to Zambia where we walked with a ranger and a guide to see the magnificent white Rhinos followed by a tour of the falls from the Zambia side. You really need to see the falls from both sides to appreciate how majestic they are. Thanks team we had a wonderful unforgettable time
There two things to do in the evening in Victoria Falls: Duma the African dinner with dance and the sundowner boat cruise. Well we chose the second one and we went with Wild Horizons. They were superb… we cruised through the river with great cocktails and toom pictures of hippos, crocodiles etc. And there were a splendid dinner that you would normally find in fine dine restaurants. The crew were amazing. Definitely recommend!!!!
Sightings of the herds of elephants and hippopotamuses while cruising in the Zambezi river with a view of the stunning sunset was the highlight of the cruise. The snack food and beverage need improvement for a better variety finger food and drink options.
Four course meal in heart of Zambezi river. The back drop the sun setting in African sky. We also booked to go to Chobe National Park in Botswana the following day. The team of Wild Horizons organised a vehicle and boat safari. We had lunch at Creata Mewana, which was yummy.
Lovely chilled sunset cruise to soak up the atmosphere of being in Africa. Saw hippos, crocodiles and elephants crossing the zambezi
We booked with Wild Horizons as they close to our hotel on the river. Initially we were a bit reluctant however once we were on board we were offered G&T’s with nibble. The guide was very knowledgeable on pointing out the wildlife in particular the numerous birds. Saw plenty of hippo and elephants.
Picked up from our hotel and taken to river. Little bit confusing as many groups and many boats but got on the correct one. Everyone had a comfortable seat and table. Good selection of inclusive drinks. Saw a large group of hippopotamuses which was very exciting. Lovely sunset. Hot snacks were also provided which were tasty and excellent quality. Perfect end to our trip to Victoria Falls.
