Initially I called the restaurant to book a table at 1pm, the time I would be done with my first tour of the day and before the second one, so timing was a bit tight. The restaurant said they were fully booked for the day but I could come on a walk-in basis, but I didn't want to risk. I then went to TripAdvisor to see what they had. In TripAdvisor they advertised a table at Lookout Cafe for the exact date and time I needed. Unfortunately they didn't offer the program for one person, I booked the program for two anyway. Being suspicious that they offered what the restaurant said they didn't have I called the restaurant to check if they confirmed that reservation for which I gave all the details. They said they didn't have any reservation for that company and details. I contacted the local tour operator I booked via TripAdvisor and mentioned this to them. They said they found this strange but said not to worry because they had everything in hands. So I did. As I had a driver for the day I said I would meet their representative at the restaurant. He was there, a little bit delayed. For my surprise he direct me to the walk-in desk (hey! Were we not supposed to have a table reserved as promised by them many times?). I waited for 30 minutes and no table came up and I had to give up because I didn't want to risk my next program and was very upset with their deception (not to say scam). Look at the situation: 1) They don't make any reservation, it's the same situation as if I show up there by myself. 2) They charge 210.00 USD, for two persons, even if it one person only, I doubt a meal for two persons would cost as much directly at the restaurant. At the restaurant, after 30 minutes wait, I filmed and described the situation, with the operator representative by my side as a proof of what was going on. Later they emailed me saying that they reported me to the police because I made the film. Conclusion: 1) Never book this program at Trip Advisor, it's a scam and they should remove it from their site, big SHAME for Trip Advisor for having it. listed. 2) The name of the local operator is Revival Safaris and Tours - Avoid them at all costs. 3) Finally, per obvious, I demand the money I paid, refunded to me immediately.
What a superb location, right on the gorge. Vic Falls railway Bridge and zip linning can be seen. The views are just beautiful. Delightful and good variety of menu and drinks. Super friendly staff. However book your table, it gets so busy. Our waiter Marco Polo was so nice.
Went for dinner and made the mistake of going after dark. No moon so pitch dark outside. Food and service was great. Went back the next day for lunch and could enjoy the snack platter for 2 on the terrace while enjoying the lovely views. Modern setting with a feel of class.
What a perfect spot to grab lunch! The view is exceptional. Food and service was fantastic. Bonus to see warthogs on the lawn 😄. Just make sure to make reservations well in advance.
It was my birthday .on the 9 th of June I came for Dinner although I did not rever book my dinner in advanced, I met Adonis Moyo who was very kind he assisted us in every thing may the company know that you a Good man in your company and he is a hard working man he knows his Job . Thanks so much I had a wonderful birthday birthday indeed 😘✅
Great views of the river, very good menu choice. We chose Ribs chips & salad, Very nice & tasty, good serving. T bone steak medium rare chips & salad, unfortunately the steak was more on the rare stage. Our waitress as if we wanted tomato sauce, yes please for my chips, unfortunately it never arrived. We ordered a bottle of rose, she brought it with two champagne glasses, luckily the lady who came to open the wine asked her to get two wine glasses, they came but with droplets 0f water inside??? Dessert was a choc orange mouse, more like a small slice of cake with a cream mixture on top. Also a carrot cake, good size serving but dry.
Great location average service and average food. The place is fabulous and the staff is very nice but service is slow and the food is average.
They view and venue is fantastic but do not have the steak as it is the worst I have had in years. It was all grissle and should never have been served. The staff took ages to get drinks and basically not available.
Great place for lunch or dinner. Service a little slow but food good and view fantastic — a spacious place with options to sit under cover or on a lower deck
Perfect place for lunch or coffee when visiting Vic Falls. The view is fantastic and the menu has lots of good choices. Service is quick and efficient. They also have a beautiful little shop and art gallery!
As soon as we walked in, there was at least 20 empty tables and the waiter who met us at the door said they were all reserved and that we had to go down to this open area where the sun was blazing and it was super hot and it was basically open seating. We sat there and I asked the waiter and he said we could move upstairs so we went up there. We couldn’t sit right at the edge because apparently those were reserved and they sat us like in an insight table without a view. we sat there for about an hour and a half and those 20 tables sat empty and when I asked what time did the reservations get there the same waiter who was rude to us said he didn’t know but they were reserved and they would get there when they got there. The food was terrible were basically there for the view which was really nice. It would’ve been better if we would’ve had a view where we sat that’s the whole point of going to that restaurant. The staff needs a lesson in hospitality. Coming from Cape Town to Zimbabwe, It was so disappointing. Hospitality is not there. Don’t expect much. Staff is rude I saw that same waiter who told us the table was reserved. Try to scam a family who was paying cash when he swapped out a $20 bill and put a $10 bill in the receipt sleeve. He tried to convince the family that they gave him a 10 and not a 20. Thank goodness that family just ignored him and walked out. So they need a lesson in hospitality and beware if you’re paying in cash.
The view is amazing! The food and service were awesome. My only complaint would be the amount of tourists allowed to just walk into the restaurant without reservations and come disturb your view or crowd the table. It was a bit frustrating to be eating your meal while random people came around your table and took pictures.
Wow! Wow what an amazing place to indulge in out of this world views and exquisite cuisine. I highly recommend the “Pepper crusted rump steak” w brandy cream sauce. Our server; Admire was extremely attentive and personal. We throughly enjoyed our experience. Thanks so much Admire for your attentiveness🤗
The food at the Look Out Café was perhaps the only disappointing aspect of our trip. For a group of five, not a single person enjoyed the meal. We ordered butternut soup, which tasted more like ginger soup with just a hint of butternut. One of the soups was swapped for the beef strips starter, but it was inedible. The sticky ribs, touted as a favorite, were a letdown, tasting overwhelmingly of ginger and lacking any stickiness. Even the fries were underwhelming. We ordered chicken strips for the kids, but what we received were chicken balls topped with caramelized onions, despite our request for no garnish since they were for children. The texture of the chicken was akin to corned meat and not enjoyable at all. To make matters worse, my glass had lip marks on it. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he said it was because the glass had been stored in the fridge—perhaps he meant a "lip fridge"? The only redeeming quality was the stunning view, but since we dined at night, it was completely dark, leaving us with no positives to speak of. On the bright side, the chef did come over to discuss our complaints about the ginger, explaining that "ginger has health benefits." However, I would suggest they indicate on the menu that they use a significant amount of ginger in their dishes. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Following a recommendation, we went for a lunch to the Lookout Cafe after visiting the Falls. The cafe is easily reachable from the Falls gate, even by walking, though of course, you have to pass through a gauntlet of very insistent souvenir vendors. The cafe looks very nice, the views are breathtaking. Food was not so. We did not expect cheap prices: Vic Falls are generally expensive and in such a touristy place as the Lookout they are reasonable enough. We wanted only a light lunch and ordered eggplant salad. I do not know why it was called that because there were maybe three small slices of eggplant, the rest was other vegetables and (mostly) couscous. We left all cheese as it was obviously old and tasted badly. There was no reaction from the waitress when she asked how was our lunch and we told about the cheese.
Lovely views idea for lunch after visiting Victoria falls it gets busy so book a table Resalable menu I enjoy my food and wine
I booked this activity and received a confirmation email. However, no one showed up for the pickup on the day. When I contacted the tour company, they claimed not to have received my booking, despite me providing proof of emails. After requesting a full refund, they initially only partially refunded me. They eventually agreed to a full refund due to their mistake but still haven't followed through. It's now the end of August, and I only received a partial refund. I've been ignored in my attempts to resolve this issue. Save yourself the trouble and avoid booking with Southern Dynasty Safaris. I suggest arranging a taxi to the Lookout yourself—it's more affordable, and you'll avoid the headache of dealing with their unprofessional and unreliable service.
What an amazing restaurant this is. Such a gem. The staff super friendly, the location, the views, super amazing. The food out of this world , everything organic and freshly made while you wait. It’s a beautiful gorgeous restaurant, the deco and the ambience was well done. Huge portions and servings , very delicious. Worth the hype !!!
We had a fun and fantastic 3-hour lunch. Our server, Watson, was very professional, polite, and friendly. Reasonable prices and very good selection of food and drinks. Make reservations to get an edge/cliff-side table
I visited the Lookout Cafe whilst staying in Pioneers Lodge, and the Victoria Falls. All I can say is Wow, what a view. A great menu and the food was delicious, I had the mussels in white wine sauce, served up with bruschetta, mouthwatering, followed with a knickerbocker glory. Totally recommend for both view and delicious food.
Wow! Don’t miss this gem in Vic Falls. Food and drinks all very reasonably priced and we had an amazing fillet steak there. The service is of an exceptionally high quality. We visited 3 times and were served by Mordecai, Bongai and James, who were all perfect!
There's an old maxim that goes along the lines of, you never go for a great meal at a restaurant that has amazing views, and bills itself on its views rather than its food. Of course we were hoping that Lookout Cafe was an exception to this 'rule', but sadly not. Yes the views are amazing, and it's quite entertaining seeing both the bungee jumpers but also the zipliners getting stuck halfway, but the food was bordering on the inedible. I ordered a caesar salad but I had to send it back because the lettuce lives were incredibly bitter and full of grit/sand while my wife ordered a prosciutto ham sandwich which had such chewy meat that it almost jarred her teeth. The only time you should really come here is just before sunset, for drinks, which are extremely reasonably priced and include some excellent local beers, accompanied by cheerful service
Excellent service, beautiful meals amazing food..the view is outstanding.. the decor and design tasteful.. suitable for loved up couple or families..
A spectacular view matched by superb service from Wadsen (sorry, I might have spelled his name incorrectly). Friendly, informative and excellent gentleman who made our dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. Food was very tasty!
Amazing views and really good food. The water level in the gorge was low as expected at this time of the year. No takers on the activities whilst we were there, the swing looks to be a goodie ...
Had lunch here after doing the gorge swing. What a view, what an atmosphere. Friendly staff (fab waiter Mike), amazing decor and loved the staff singing and dancing to celebrate a customers birthday. Spent lots of money in the gift shop and milkshakes were delicious.
Spectacular view, excellent service, great food. We were there for lunch withe a group of about 12. Service was great, Diverse menu, full bar, feel the gentle breezes flow through the room as you enjoy your meal or sit by the edge and look into the gorge. Truly a unique experience, highly recommend. Small parking lot, short distance from downtown.
I’m currently sitting with a cocktail looking at one of the most amazing views. Could sit here all day, but we’re sitting at a table that has been booked for later. The staff are lovely and the drinks sublime. We’re not eating but the food that’s come out for others looks good. Come even if it’s just for a drink and the view
We already knew and read that the food here is good and also had a great view towards the canyon. We were not disappointed. All 3 of us ate the ribs and it was good. It is good spot to eat and watch sunset We were late though and miss the sunset. We came back again for sunrise. Worth eating here. It had great ambience and the staff was attentive. We enjoyed our time there. But do make prior reservations on their website.
We had dinner at Lookout Cafe after exploring Victoria Falls. It is a beautiful restaurant with gorgeous views of the gorge. The service was very good, and it was a relaxing experience. The food was average—not bad, just not very flavorful. It is definitely worth going for cocktails or a meal to enjoy the wonderful views. exploring Victoria Falls.
From the breathtaking view to the super friendly staff, good food, this place is paradise,I would strongly recommend it🥰🥰
Look Out's identity and strength is the location. Just by the edge of the great Zambezi cliff. You dine looking down at the flowing water at 200 feet below and the Bridge view just ahead of you. We were waned to make a reservation as the place can be busy but we ended up having a really relaxing time as opposed to our feared crowded place. The service was good and professional and food was good too. The prices of food and drinks were quite reasonable. As we drove to the venue buffalos graze just by the road side. Only recommendation is to put glass covers on the rails as a small lapse with your phone if you are sitting on the last seat and your phone or any other items tumbles down to the rive.
My husband and I were recently in Victoria Falls for a 4 night stay over whilst I competed in the Econet Victoria Falls Half Marathon before heading on an overland to Botswana. We lunched at the Lookout Cafe before we went off for a gorge swing over Batoka Gorge. The view and service was impeccable. The ostrich salad was absolutely delicious and the flavours and quality of the ingredients was next level. We would absolutely recommend a visit at the Lookout Cafe whenever you visit Victoria Falls. The views are amazing and will add to your dining experience.
Stunning view of gorge during dinner with a full moon, but even better in the day. Service was friendly, excellent waitron, interested in you, not your dollars, they make you feel welcome. Beautiful decor and lights and the perfect location. Reasonably, prices and portions are more than enough.
As the name suggests an excellent viewpoint near the Victoria Falls Bridge. We had lunch here, the food was very good and reasonably priced. Staff were efficient and friendly.
Great spot for lunch or dinner or even a few drinks, best view in the Victoria Falls!! Friendly staff...
Excellent location of this restaurant! Friendly staff, awesome cocktails. Food is average. The view, overlooking the gorge swing over the Zambezi river, is the best part of this cafe. Quick 10 minute drive from the city center. The sound of the gushing river is so soothing!
Amazing views - of the Zambezi and the bungee! Only wanted a cool drink, but had some ice cream too! Snack/lunch menu looked good, but I didn't have time to eat. Decor is very appropriate, wide open, modern African vibe. Friendly staff. Lovely gallery at entrance, and a souvenir shop
We booked for late afternoon drinks and supper. From the moment you walk in your mind is blown away. The venue is really beautiful and you have the best view of the gorge. Staff were friendly and good food!
The restaurant is lovely, open spacious. The food was terrible - my salad was a poor excuse for a salad and ridiculously over-priced in terms of quantity served. I'd been warned that the food was not especially good. Go for the spectacular view and then return to town to eat! The service was friendly but not attentive.
They have a stunning view of the zip-line across the Zambezi gorge as well as part of the Livingstone bridge: Coupled together with a stunning, expensive lunch menu, upmarket interior and guests to match it will be one of the must-to-do's in Vic Falls!
The views are just WOW!!! The food and drinks were really good. The service was 5*. This is a really cool restaurant and should definitely be included on your visit to Victoria Falls!!
It’s exactly as advertised, a tourist spot with an amazing view. But giving it 5 stars because the scenery is great and the food and service were both good as well.
Absolutely lovely end to our Vic Falls adventure! Beautiful interior overlooking the river gorge... you can zip line right from there! Food, drinks, view and service were very good! I cannot say enough about the beauty of this modern gem in Vic Falls.
Excellent setting, excellent food. Good value for money and quality in Vic Falls. View of the bridge and the bungee is entertaining
Fantastic location for this recently refurbished, nicely appointed restaurant. ( This is a new building following the fire in 2018). As we approached the entrance doors we were greeted by Warthogs and Banded Mongoose playing around a statue of a rhino. Great views of the bridge and the Zambezi river - during the day you can watch the white water rafting far below you. We arrived at 17:00 to be met by Robert and taken to our reserved table, with a view to having sundowners - you don’t actually see the sun set but you do get the beautiful light of “the golden hour” as day slips to night. We ordered food at 18:00 hrs. Our waiter Gladstone was friendly and helpful. The menu was good value , reassuringly concise (one page) with choices for all. Wine list good, mainly SA wines as you would expect. Liked this place including the art work by David Ballam - which was stunning
a nice lunch with a fabulous view! and Warthogs grazing on the grass just outside, wish i could go more often , once was not enough!
This view from this restaurant is a must! I love anything with a view and this did not disappoint. Our waiter, Prosper, was delightful and the food was lovely. A must while in Victoria Falls!
Our visit to this restaurant was absolutely amazing. (13/07) Our server was Prosper and he was very attentive and friendly. The food was very tasty. I had a salad and he had fillet steak. Both were perfect. The place is clean and has a lovely ambience. Ultimately, the view takes your breath away. This is a must when you are in Vic Falls Town.
