This helicopter ride was a rip off! We had four of us in the back of the helicopter, and I was seated flying backwards. This meant that I could hardly observe anything during the flight, because as soon as I looked at something, it was getting further away. There was never a panoramic view, as one would expect. Instead, I was twisted backwards, trying to peer through a small window that was mostly behind me. Expensive lesson in being ripped off! Also, the constant drone of helicopters over Victoria Falls is a problem. I recommend skipping this waste of money, and encourage the operators to build an IMAX theater, and sell tickets that way. Stop ruining the atmosphere at Victoria Falls.
The helicopter ride with Shearwater was an unforgettable experience and the absolute highlight of my trip. The entire team was so amazing and helpful, making us feel completely safe and relaxed from start to finish. Seeing Victoria Falls from the air is the only way to truly appreciate its massive scale the views of the gorge and the rainbows in the mist were simply breathtaking. It was a world class experience that felt totally secure and professional, and I’ll remember it forever!
One of the most incredible helicopter tours I’ve ever experienced! Shearwater’s helipad is truly out of this world. It is beautifully designed, extremely well organized, and offering an incredible experience from start to finish. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Victoria Falls.
Just Awesome. Breath-taking and so professionally executed. Loved every second of it, and have the video to boast to my friends ! If you are in the area, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these Falls the way Livingstone could not !
What an amazing expierience! These guys are very professional and they give you a wonderful expierience to descover Victoria Falls! The helicopter flight it is definately a must, after seeing the waterfall from the park! We had a beautiful guided tour of the waterfall area with Dennis, he was very nice and fun and made from this trip a beautiful story to tell!
The company postponed our flight by 1,5 hours 2 minutes in advance of the scheduled dept time. This ruined our day as we planned a lot in addition what then was unable to be squeezed in
The wonderful ‘slow motion’ feel of floating over the falls and the Zambezi river. Even I dry season it was superb.
The bird's eye view of the Victoria falls and how it has carved through the mountains to a valley. . experiencing the water falls on the ground only is like half job done
Well planned route over the falls and surrounding national parks, helicopter pilot was excellent and the chopper was comfortable with good views from all seats. Worth the ticket price.
This was my first helicopter ride. The 12 minute ride is all you need. Great way to see the falls in their entirety and get great pictures.
This is certainly a must-do experience that should be completed by the walking tour of VIC fall. No words can fully describe the beauty of this 7th natural Wonder!!
This has to be one of our most treasured memories. We took the "extended" flight. Yes, it cost a bit more but, for us, totally worth it. Take a good camera that does video. Excellent staff and pilot. We'll go again!
There is no peace and quiet at Victoria Falls anymore. No chance to enjoy the sounds of the bush and the waterfall. The natural experience people come for is not here anymore. It is destroyed by the constant engine noise of helicopters.
We traveled with a group of 6. As I requested the driver came in the morning to pick us up just in time. We didn't have to wait long for our flight. We liked to go with 6 people at once but the guides told us to go with 4 and 2 people so that everyone gets a window seat. That was a really great idea. The ride was beautifully and at least we had a great trip like a bird.
An amazing flight. Well organised and co-ordinated. They do a number of light options - but you really only need the short 12 minute option to get really good views of the falls because you take off literally next to the falls. Post flight video was abit pricey though at $50, whereas other activities tend to be $25. Recommended.
It is too high to see anything. The view from walking tour is much better . I do not know why they fly so high. To be able to see something you need to be closer to the action - to the mist.I saw 2 helicopter lower then us but do not know if it would change view drastically and which company they belongs. I believe somewhere among reviews , it was explanation by another reviewer why helicopter fly so high. At this moment , it is irrelevant. Save your money , if able to walk . The only reason I gave more then 1 star - organization was very efficient: bus arrived exactly on time to pickup us from hotel; groups flying one after another without delays , and return to hotel in no time.
The pick up driver made us feel as if we had picked the wrong ride and wanted us to upgrade and pay more !! Very disappointing ! The pilot flew us around the falls and gorge - not speaking a single word . Some commentary would have been useful whilst flying . Overall very disappointing!
We had a group of 7 people and we had to be split into 2 helicopters. It was the first time going up in a helicopter for many people in our group. The views were amazing. The 12-minute ride was adequate. The video was nice however, we did not want to spend $50 on it.
We booked the earliest flight and were picked up at The Kingdom. There was some confusion between when the hotel booking agent told us to be ready and when we were actually picked up but it all worked out. The drive was only ~15 minutes from our hotel. We were told by the booking agent that if we reserved our spots we would get a 10% discount. At the ticket office they were going to charge us a park admission fee on top of the $150 flight but I explained to them we were told that we were supposed to get a discount and they only charged us $150. The park admission fee was $15 (a special coincidence) in the end we paid $150 per person for the flight (I roll my eyes at the convenient 'discount' and the park fee but I took it). The flight itself is comfortable but if you're more than 100 kg then you can't sit up front, if not you can draw straws with the other small people for who can ride up front. The chopper does two figure 8 passes over the falls and gives you a nice perspective in about 12 minutes. The flight was fine completely safe and memorable. In retrospect it probably wasn't worth $150 for less than 15 minutes of flight time, but if this is your only trip to VF it would probably be worth it. I felt it would have been worth ~$100 but I wouldn't do it again for $150. At the end of the flight, they will offer to sell you a video of your flight-but it wasn't worth it to me since I took numerous pictures and videos with my camera and phone and the view was spectacular.
It was an awesome experience! The flight offers a gorgeous aerial view of the Falls and its cataracts. The pilot made 3 rounds of the Falls, enabling us to have a splendid view of the majestic Falls and beautiful rainbow. Highly recommend when you visit Victoria Falls!
There are two options a shorter trip and a longer one. The shorter one is sufficient for the price. The craft makes two circles around the falls in different directions so that both sides of the aircraft get the same view.
Expensive in ZAR currency, but so worth it ! The most beautiful view of the falls which cannot be fully appreciated any other way. The whole excursion is done very professionally and safely.
We'd already visited both sides of the Falls (Zimbabwe and Zambia) and decided on a 15 minute flight with Bonisair Helicopters. The flight was spectacular (especially the crazy zigzagging river below the Falls), and we were really impressed by the professionalism of Bonisair - very punctual pickup at our hotel, proper safety briefing before the flight, and generally well looked after. As it was low season (February) it was easy to book via a local agent at the time that best suited us, and we were able to negotiate a small discount. We booked with Africa Guide Travel tours, shop no. 29, Landela Complex in Victoria Falls town, which is one of many small travel agents there. We found Pamela, in the travel agent, one of the most informative and helpful at giving travel information locally.
We loved the flight over the Falls and that part of the Zambezi. It was expensive for the 12/13 minute flight but everything is relative. The trip was very quick and organised, they collected us from our hotel, straight to the helipad to check in, be weighed (oh no) to balance out the copter, then straight on once it landed, then up and away. The pilot said nothing which was a shame as it would've been nice if he had explained our view rather than hearing others somewhere else screeching about the view - no clue who they were but not on our copter! The most stunning views and we did a figure of 8 which gave us all a fantastic sight. Quickly we were back, then dropped off. They took us I tom s room where they showed us a video they had taken of us getting ready for our trip and some pre-recorded, but they wanted $50 which was a shame because after paying such a lot we decided not to purchase. If it had been about $25 then I'm sure we and the other 2 guys would have purchased.
Fab views but the 15 minute flight is all you needas the 22 minute flight is just more of the same. There iis no swooping down over the river or along the canyons...a bit tame for me, but the views are the best you will getbof the falls
Booked to fly with Bakota Sky of Livingstones adventure last Saturday (10th November) over the Victoria Falls, Zambia. Arrived at 8.00 a.m. and was met by a representative who took us through the necessary paperwork. The flight was £256 each for 22 minutes. We briefly waited in a comfortable area whilst the 4 seater helicopter was prepared. We then had to read a safety board and made our way to the helicopter which was in immaculate condition. My wife and myself were shown how to strap ourselves in by the ground crew, the pilot introduced himself and we were up and away. We flew at about 500 feet above the Falls and circled it several times so I could get photos from all angles including rainbow. I was next to the pilot so had to be careful of arms etc as space was limited. My wife had the choice of two seats in the back and had excellent views throughout. We had headphones on and a mike so could talk to the pilot who gave us a running commentary of the main views, wildlife spotted and other points of interest. We then dropped into a gorge with lots of white water and flew down it at low level and high speed which was exhilarating. The 20 odd minutes was soon up and we returned to the heliport. Upon landing we were shown highlights of our trip on a video which we purchased for 40 dollars. The finished video, including shots of ourselves was supposed to be sent to our computer, within 24 hours in a pdf, but didn't arrive. I contacted the company who promptly established new links and it arrived within a matter of hours. The standard was good, included sound and is a treasured momento of our first helicopter trip. I'd really recommend this firm as I felt they were professional throughout, friendly and dealt with the video problem extremely efficiently. The flight was the highlight of our holiday, expensive, but well worth the price as we will never get the opportunity to do it again.
If I were you, I would only do the short flight. Honestly, we did some some animals on the longer flight over the park but it was definitely not worth the money. If we had it do do over, we would not do it at all.
Totally different from viewing from the land. You can feel the mother earth, huge scale of falls and it was overwhelming. I can say this was the most impressing view in my life.
It is an amazing experience to look down on Victoria Falls and the helicopter is the only way to do it. Plan the trip so it is not in the heavy rainy season or soon after, because the rush of water creates a heavy mist and you cannot see the falls. The helicopter we were in was new, roomy, quiet and equipped with headphones. It was easy to take pictures and the pilot would bank so you could look down.
We were there when the Falls was in full flow so quite spectacular from the air. The flight is only 12 or 13 minutes so probably a bit expensive at $150 US each but when on holiday I think this has to be done. We flew over the Falls on a couple of circuits and had good viewing but as there was a heavy mist created our viewing was more about effect than seeing the Falls itself. See it on the ground too for the full picture but don't bother with a guide as there are so many guides it's hard not to overhear when walking around. It's seems very safe and controlled. We were collected from our hotel and went through a few checks before taking off. We went with Zambezi helicopters but there are a few choices all about the same price. Longer more expensive trips are an option but if it's the Falls you want to see we would go for the 12 minute trip.
If you want the perfect birds-eye view of the falls, this is the way to do it. But, as a photographer, I would have liked a little more room to move around for that perfect picture. I got good pictures but there were times, I wanted to turn a little more, lift my camera arm a little more and it was very cramped inside which I totally understand. It is still a very fun flight with great views of the falls.
We completed the walking tour but because the falls were so fall and shrouded with heavy mist, without the helicopter tour we would not have been able to appreciate the full beauty of this magnificent natural wonder

Wow. Just wow. A can't miss part of the experience of viewing Victoria Falls. Pricy, but well worth it. We went for the longer flight I believe it was 25 minutes and was well worth it. Do not miss!

The experience was brilliant starting with the collection from the hotel. The pre flight briefing as very informative. Unfortunately our experience was marred by the fact the souvenir photo memory stick wasn't done properly and many of the photos including most we were in could not be read when we got home. Would suggest anyone who decides to buy this great photo dea checks the photos have been copied correctly before leaving.

We did the 25minute flight, and it was awesome! Could be a bit of problem if you are prone to airsickness!! Fortunately we do not suffer this condition! Saw plenty of wildlife, a herd of elephants with their young, buffalo, giraffe, buck, zebra, hippo. The Falls from the air are amazing, and it gives you an understanding of just how big they really are. Elizabeth, our pilot, was skilful, darting and dashing from one lot of animals to the next, banking, diving and it made the trip really interesting and exciting. The photos were disappointing, as we did not get a preview, and found that 90 of the photos were of the other family we shared the ride with! The video that I took from the helicopter was amazing, and will be treasured for a long time.

Amazing views, sufficient time in the air to see what you want and get some great photos. It would be nice with a bit of audio of facts if you wanted to listen to them. The video however and photos are a little over priced

An absolute must-do! Fabulous views and sooooo exciting.

The Flight of Angels is a great way to get a macroscopic understanding of the falls before the walking tour. It is an amazing sight from the air! The only con was that this was one of the only times people attempted to up-sell us both on the longer helicopter ride the short 13-minute ride is sufficient in our opinion and on the video of your ride, which is about 80 old, B-roll film footage of the falls and 20 pictures of you and your flightmates. I would recommend they sell the photos individually if this had been an option there were probably a few that we would have purchased. Overall, though, the short flight is definitely worth it I would suggest doing it when you arrive to get an understanding of your surroundings.

This was one of the best experiences of my stay in Zimbabwe. It was very professionally organised. I was picked up from my lodge and within 15 minutes I was in the air, sitting next to the pilot. This was the 25 minute flight. Th helicopter flew over the Falls several times, in different directions. There was also a flight over the National Park. The pilot was remarkably good at spotting wildlife - giraffe, zebra, buffalo and elephant. Unforgettable and marvellous.

Helicopter flight was so nice.
But, the helicopter company made me to wait 2 hours till my flight time.
Helicopter capacity is 5~6 people, if don't gather just 1 or 2 people, need wait a long time. It is minus point.

Attention, absolute rip-off. We had booked a transfer from Kasane to Victoria Falls City and back through an agency. The price was already quite heavy at US$70/person. Then when we arrived at the Shearwater office in Vic Falls City, suddenly we wanted to have $140 on the grounds that the price was just for the one-way trip. D.h. 560$ for 4 people!!! For this price I would have expected a flight, or at least a Range Rover in Pullman version with champagne and caviar. Instead, we changed cars six times on the way back and forth, missed our helicopter flight scheduled for 9 a.m., finally took off at 11:30 a.m., so we wasted the whole morning in the cosmopolitan city of Vic Falls City. This is what modern robbery looks like.
Abholung vom Hotel einwandfrei
Those who visit Victoria Falls must make the helicopter ride. The views from above are breathtaking and the flight is very quiet.
Beautiful to visit the Victoria Falls feeling the misted water but to have the vision of how impressive they are and the Canyon that then forms the helicopter is the ideal means
Silo a few minutes flight will make you admire the spectacle of the victory falls on the Zambezi. It is definitely recommended.
Beautiful A majestic view of Victoria Falls and the zambeze a real moment of pleasure to do absolutely
Seeing the waterfalls along the promenade is beautiful because you can feel the power up close but seeing them from above with the helicopter tour was priceless! Wonderful! It's worth the price. Visited in May, on the walking tour you do not see very well all the way because the water flow is so much that an intense cloud covers them at some point along the way. From above, however, it is a different story: the magnificence is all visible! Rainbows to never end, power, elegance .. I fell in love with it! Absolutely recommended.
Just book the day before. There were three of us and had a small helicopter. One seat next to the driver and two seats in the back. Nice vision for everyone. The overflight of the falls is beautiful. In a quarter of an hour we make an eight that allows us to observe the falls over the whole width. Very complementary to the walking tour and despite the price, really worth it.
While you are there you should definitely book the flight - although expensive. The short tour over 12 minutes is quite sufficient. Very good photo subjects.
