Booked via Voicemap with special offer of sharing with another person. My friend and I really enjoyed this walk and even passed the presenter sitting on his steps but did not introduce ourselves, as invited to, as he had visitors ready. This was so much better than a cruise organised trip and was less than 10% of their walking tour. This was a great find, instructions very clear and an enjoyable walk.

This audio tour was an absolutely PERFECT guide to Isafjordur! The length was great, with just the right distance and amount of detail. It hit the tourist highlights and gave a glimpse into life in the little sub arctic town. Highly recommended. The app worked perfectly for us; just make sure you download it and the map beforehand.
I could not use guide Maybe my inexperience in using app
Could not access tour. Never got a code. Got tired of trying and gave up. Tour is a good idea but getting it downloaded didn’t work
Audio was great. Clear instructions for following the walking tour. The guide was fabulous. Informative but not too much information to take in. We did the walk a bit more slowly and popped into the various Venus before continuing. It showed us some hidden gardens and artwork/ wall murals too. I would even do it again which is high praise indeed!
This self-guided tour was more trouble than it was worth. The download took forever and it was very hard to follow the instructions during the tour among the six of us. Our group got lost more than once and after the third time, decided to call it quits.
We enjoyed the information about the town. So much better than just walking without knowing what you are looking at.
You need to understand stand how the app works and to make sure your settings on your iPhone are set properly before beginning the tour. My partner and I had different settings so it was confusing at first as we were not in sync. The audio tour was great. - we really enjoyed it and have recommended the app to several other people
What a fantastic way to get to know an area in a very short time. The commentary was informative and entertaining. Good job sir, thank you for showing us your home. We leave Isafjordur thinking we are leaving an old friend and will be back one day 🙂
This was the first time we’ve used this Voice Map product. We were pleased, and enjoyed the self-guided tour. Great that it also worked with our mobile phones having airplane mode turned on. It was also nice that a local person was the speaker of the tour.
The tour was great, easy to navigate, and very informative. Having a native resident tell us all about his city was an awesome experience. The tour gave us insights into Isafjordur that we never would have gotten on our own or with a tour book. I would do a tour like this again after this experience. 5 STARS!!
Well, scripted and thoughtful tour. I recommend the tour for those with a few hours in town. We met the author’s wife when walking by their house. She was Incredibly nice!
Narrator introduced himself using light humor and childhood memories all the while pointing out historical places and events. Technology is top notch with notifications should you wonder down the wrong path. Putting green was a delightful surprise along with the recommendations for pastries at the bakery. Great excuse to get in our steps in an otherwise small, sleepy town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our self guided walking tour! Having control over the pace of our excursion was priceless! Gylfi Olafsson was not only informative but entertaining! Highly recommend this tour!
It was average. We were able to see the highlights of the city. The gps map from behind the Sun Street Catholic Church was a bit off and confusing. There was also an extremely irritating smell coming from the factory behind the church. Other than that, it was good.
A great way to explore this lovely town. The app was very easy to use and very informative. Would highly recommend
Fun experience walking through Isafjordur with a local. Information given and sites seen would not have been found on our own. Voicemap was a little tricky at the start, but easy to use as we went along. Looking forward to using it for future tours
We pulled into Isafyordor on a freezing blustery day and weren’t due to go on an excursion til the afternoon so we downloaded this walk and set off. We got so much out of the town this way- history, geography and human interest information by a local. We were so surprised to discover what a pretty town it is and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk and all the information. Thoroughly recommend.
Technology worked very well and was easy to use. The route was well planned and information about the town was clearly communicated.
Nice tour of Isafjodur told by one of its residents. The information was good and the guide was pleasant.
Very informative and interesting tour. It was nice to be able to pause at some points to walk inside some of the places and then pick back up at your own pace. Occasionally the GPS got a little wonky, but the app lets you start the audio manually at each point if needed. Great affordable way to see this beautiful town.
Fantastic way to see and learn about the town with lots of interesting facts and stories that made the town come alive. Highly recommend!!
The tour was very well done. It was well-guided and very informative. My friend and I enjoyed the anecdotes about the town.
The tour was interrupted at times and we had to go back. Too frustrating. We lasted only less than half way through and then gave up.
Be sure to download the Voice map ahead of time and make certain it is operating. It takes a bit of time to do it. I really enjoyed the tour until I had to take some other streets due to the construction occurring. There was sanding being done on buildings and I could not tolerate the dust. Tried to get it to match my location but gave up.
this would have been one of the best walking tours I have been on, I could hear everything and not have to worry about getting close up to the guide in a group and you can do it any time you like.
I loved the little personal stories of our guide. He was informative and entertaining. We even walked by his house at one point in the tour. This was the first time we experienced a self guided tour and we are now hooked. The perfect way to experience a new place.
Well done and informative tour by a local resident. Starting point near cruise dock. You even walk by the tour guides house. Highly recommend.
The tour was easy to follow and very informative. We liked that you could go at your own pace. We would recommend this tour.
This was one of the best walking tours I have taken. The app is easy to use, I’m 70, and easy to follow. The tour was interesting and gave me insight to the town. I will tell my family and friends about this great travel app.
