Truffle Hunting And Lunch Experience In A Restaurant

Booked with Trip advisor via Viator. Clarified unsure pick up location quickly (2 locations and wrong one had .been put on our booking) and easily. Fantastic day with Michael and his dog. Explored the countryside, with hints and tips about the local flora and fauna, and although early in the truffle season we found enough truffles for all (group of 5) to eat a main meal with some added local delicacies, all home cooked by our fantastic host, with local and wine too. Really personal day. Thank you.

Truffle hunting with a dog is an amazing experience and this was truly authentic. Michele and his dog go out every day and some days he takes people like us along with him. His dog found 5 truffles on our trip and Michele then cooked them and served them with pasta and wine in his own home. This is as far away from corporate tourism as it gets and 100% recommended.

Words can’t describe the joy of finding truffles with a professional truffle dog and amazing kind guide like Michelle, this is a joyful and personal experience outside the touristic clechés and into the real Italian experience.

Michael and Aika (his dog) picked us up from our hotel and led us on an incredible adventure in the Verona countryside. Yes, there are truffles that Aika skillfully finds but you are wandering the countryside and the trappings offered. IE in the summer we had bay, cherries and figs. Wear sneakers and be prepared for a light hike. Afterward you eat at a local restaurant and eat the harvested truffles and make some new friends. Recommended.

We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend the truffle hunt! We were two adults and a 5-year-old boy, and it was a fun and memorable activity for all of us.

Some steep walking on loose stones you are in the woods. Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain. About 1 hour walking. Well worth it. A wonderful experience and lunch incorporates truffles found on the tour.

We had a great afternoon spent with Michele and his "golden goose," Aika, the truffle whisperer. Aika is a special purebred Italian lagotto romagnolo truffle dog with more than 10 years of experience. To locate the black truffles, we ambled along a mountainside dirt road located on a gentle incline just above a picturesque vineyard. Aika found truffles in no time! We ended up with a couple of dozen black truffles, several of which were the size of a golf ball. After about an hour, we drove to a 250-year-old restaurant where our truffles were generously shaved tableside onto our pasta lunch. This was followed by more truffles shaved onto a fried egg -- supposedly the ultimate way that truffle connoisseurs enjoy their harvest. It was great being outdoors, and great disproving all the naysayers who whined that "mid-May is not truffle season." We definitely proved them wrong in a big way! This was a relatively easy excursion that almost anyone can do. We took videos while Aika did all the work. I would recommend this tour with Michele to all of our friends, and we would do it again if we pass through the area in the future.

Book this! Michael and his dog, Aika, were a pleasure to spend the day with. Walking through the woods was such a peaceful experience after so much time being spent in noisy cities. And the meal at a local restaurant was the best meal of our entire trip! It was a lovely day of beautiful views, great company, well-paced walking and learning, and was definitely a highlight of our trip. Such a unique experience.

A great experience with small hikes with Michele and Aika, who led us to finding a variety of 6 different truffles. It was a beautiful day in Verona and the countryside that ended in a lovely meal at a local restaurant with new friends and the taste of the truffles that we had found! Michele was funny, knowledgeable, and even gave helpful suggestions of what to see during the rest of our time in Verona.

Fun and authentic truffle hunt. Several in our group had been before and thought this tour was superior to other tours. We met in a small town and them drove a few minutes to a wooded area. The guide explained about the dog and how truffles grow. We sent off into the woods and observed the dog working. She found truffles in several locations which was exciting. The area was beautiful (great views) and we had lovely weather which made for a fun outing. We ended the tour with a simple and delicious meal at a local restaurant that highlighted the truffles we found that morning. Excellent experience!

30-45 minute hike, some in the woods, some on rocky trails, some up hill. Difficulty scale from 1- 5, this is a 2. EXCELLENT truffle finding adventure, Aika (sweet dog), was very well trained and found 4 truffles on our trip, dug from under the vines and near the root system of Chestnut and small Oak trees. Michael(a) was a terrific and knowledgeable guide. Lunch was Spectacular with our own shaved truffles from our find.

It was such a unique and informative addition to my trip to Verona! Not only did I learn all about Truffle hunting , I got to see the breathtaking landscape outside of the city and learn so many other things about the region. It was truly special. If you think it sounds interesting, book it ! It is worth it !

Beautiful experience! Must do when visiting Verona.. such a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. From finding the truffles, to eating them garnished on the freshly made pasta the experience is unforgettable.

My family of 4 ppl had an unbelievable truffle hunting experience with Michael & his Dog partner. Michael is patience, professional, and knowledgeable. The dog is well trained and wowed us. The hiking trails are breezy and beautiful. We were hunting amongst fruit trees, Grape vines and the view of Verona. Top off with a pasta & truffle dinner, wine, appetizers ... A must do!

Simply spectacular! We joined Michael and Aika for a brief hike in the woods where Aika was wildly successful finding truffles. The views were incredible. We then went to dinner wherein the truffle found during our hike was used for our meal. One of the best meals we’ve ever had!!! An experience not to be missed!

Our experience of truffle hunting in the forest with our guide, Michael, and his dog Ika, was an unforgettable experience! It was just 30 minutes from Verona, but it felt like such an adventure. We learned a lot about the art of truffle hunting, Italy's countryside and lovely cuisine and culture from our knowledgeable guide. Seeing the dog do its magic was so much fun. After frolicking around the forest with the two experts, we were treated to a delicious dinner at a restaurant that served a 3-course meal, all with the very truffles we had just hunted! When I think back on my trip, this experience stands out as such a highlight. If you love cooking, travel, nature, dogs, or even just exploring unique things to do on your trip, this should definitely make it to the top of your itinerary. Thank you, Michael and Ika!

Such a fun experience!! He was so kind and knowledgeable about truffle hunting, the forest, the various plants we’d come across. His truffle dog, Aika was so sweet and he loved finding truffles. The love and connection between the guide and dog was really special. The views on the hike were incredible and food prepared with our freshly caught truffles was equally amazing. We had an amazing time truffle hunting with a fantastic guide and the sweetest, most devoted dog, Aika! The whole experience was so well-organized and enjoyable. Our small group was really pleasant, which made it even more fun to share the adventure. The lunch afterwards was delicious and full of truffle flavor — the perfect ending to a perfect day. Absolutely wonderful experience. This tour takes you on a nice trek in the hills surrounding Verona. Lots of opportunities to take pictures of vineyards and the Verona city scape. After getting some truffles our group was treated to a restaurant where the truffles we found were cleaned and served to us with some homemade pasta. Just a great experience.

Outstanding! My wife and I had a wonderful time with Michael and his well-behaved, highly intelligent, hard-working, truffle dog. We learned more about truffles, than we knew there is to know. We met in a quaint little village, from which we set off on our truffle hunt. It was fascinating to see the dog hunt down and dig up our truffles. Afterward, we headed to a perfectly lovely little country inn, where we had the Italian meal of a lifetime that included the truffles we just gathered. This is a true off the beaten path, not to be missed and forever remembered experience.

The views from the mountains and the fossil forest were amazing!! The minute the dogs got out of the vehicle, they dug up truffles!!! What an unbelievable experience! The restaurant used the truffles we found and totally accommodating for gluten egg free!

This tour was so special, and made our trip to Italy unforgettable. Our guide is actually a truffle dog trainer, so we were really working with experts! He picked us up in Verona, drove us into the mountains, and we hiked around and got to see his dog find lots of truffles. He answered all of our questions, and was super knowledgeable. We learned about truffle hunting around the world, the truffle industry, and about our region of Italy. Our hunt showcased gorgeous scenery of the Italian countryside, and we walked through vineyards in the mountains. Unforgettable views. After our hunt, he took us to a small restaurant where we got to eat food topped with one of the truffles we hunted. So special. We had pasta, vegetables, eggs, slow roasted pork, and local fish all topped with copious amounts of shaved truffle, and we got Prosecco with lunch too. It was the perfect day, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to enhance their trip to Italy.

A fun and unique experience in the Italian countryside with an expert truffle hunter and his dog. Watching this Lagotto Romagnolo at work was amazing - we learned so much about truffles from our guide and then had the opportunity to enjoy black truffle with our lunch at a local restaurant. It was a lot of fun.

I loved The experience. Michelle, his wife and Claudia were super nice with us. And we learned a about truffles. The dogs are very friendly and helpful. They found beautiful truffle for our lunch. Michelle shared his family Sunday with us. I definitely recommend this experience. Specially is you come with you family and want to be outside.

Experience chosen by chance, having to stay in Italy we opted to live "real" activities. Truffle hunting was on our list, and we couldn't have chosen better. Michele and Aika are excellent companions of adventure, Aika is a phenomenon, Michele transmits all the passion for his business and for the territory in which he lives. It is a "real" experience, far away from those pre-packaged tourist activities, made specifically for mass tourism. The truffle you will then taste in a restaurant in the area, we opted for a no-frills trattoria, great food and excellent company. Congratulations to Michele for his activity and a caress to Aika, a true queen of the woods.
