Our guide Cristina made our rather large group feel like part of her extended family. We navigated the crowded streets together, visiting local eateries who made room for us to sit and enjoy their delicious food and local wines. Appetizers and wine; then pizza and wine; and finally homemade ravioli and wine; ending our tour with a delicious cup of gelato! Nothing like Italian wine, nothing beats homemade ravioli, and of course gelato is the perfect way to end the evening. Cristina was marvelous! Highly recommended!

The accurate things about this trip are it lasted 3 hours. It was a private tour, just the 2 of us and the guide. The guide was local and was able to answer any questions about Verona and the food. The disappointing aspect was the tastings which were as follows: venue 1 - Affogato (ice cream and coffee) = 1 tasting (we were first offered pizza) we skipped the offer of macaroon as just had dessert! venue 2 - Bruschetta (3 x half bruschetta + one drink) = 4 tastings venue 3 - Small plates (2 x bread with topping, 1 meatball, + one drink) = 4 tastings venue 4 - Coffee = 1 tasting We learned a lot about Verona but its billing as a food tour is a stretch.
We were very excited about this tour and were incredibly disappointed. We understood this was a tasting tour but we were given 3 small crostini’s each at the beginning of the tour and they were three of our tastes! After a very small beer at the same establishment we went to sample two small cakes each two of which were the same flavour and that was it for the food. Our guide may have been new he gave us a few pieces of information about food and local history we didn’t do much walking around the area we were in let alone the rest of the city centre. The guide kept asking us what we would like to do. We are visiting he is the ‘local expert’ given some options we were taken by car out of town to the village of Soave for the white wine tasting, this turned out to be a huge mistake due diligence by our guide would have known there was a festival at the village got there and there was no parking so drove back an hour round trip to a hill top vineyard/restaurant it all seemed closed on arrival, our guide frantically trying to phone someone. At this point we were so upset we stopped the tour and asked to be taken back to Verona. Incredibly upset at the complete waste of money and our limited time in this beautiful city. This tour is not what is advertised do not waste your time and money. I will be getting in touch with all parties involved. Shameful misrepresentation.
Alessandro was an amazing host. We learnt so much, he gave great suggestions for future dinners and the food tastings were wonderful.
The tour around the city was extensive, covering most landmarks and around 12,000 steps. However the 10 tastings title is misleading. Apparently the tastings include for example 3 bits of pizza at first stop (Encouraged to have 4 or 5, but we didn't want to fill up on pizza, expecting more substantial dishes to follow - little did we know). In the event, we had 3 bits of pizza, a drink each, followed by an arancini and a glass of wine then a cannoli - All for £105 each. We then called it a night with the guide and (still hingry) went for some pasta and wine ourselves. I dont know if the guide tries to minimise spend so more ends up at their end but compare this to a food tour we did in September with 3 proper restaurant stops with full dishes and wine to accompany, with gelato to finish - that was only £96 (Do Eat Better FYI). Tour definetly not worth the money - far better options available
Incredible variety of stops with great food and awesome history. One of the best tours and guides we have ever had!
Alessandro was magnificent. He knows every stone in Verona and gave us such a deep history from a passionate local. We loved it. He was engaged and energized to show off the city. We stopped at 4 places, a coffee shop for affogato, a bruschetta place, a bakery for colonno, and a small restaurant for a wine and appetizer. The food was very good and we enjoyed all of it!
Alessandro, our tour guide was amazing! He tailored the three hour+ tour to our interests. He introduced us to many local tastes and showed us many more treats to try, restaurants to eat at, and sites to see. He brought Verona history to life with engaging stories and marvelous sites. This was our first activity in Verona and now we have our week planned with many more things to see and do.
I WOULD DO THIS TOUR 100x and be impressed every time. Best part of my trip by far. I will be forwarding this tour onto many people.
Alessandro B. was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgable, flexible, upbeat and able to answer any questions we had along the way of our 3 hours together. We explored Verona in a way that we never could have done on our own, Alessandro combined the history and culture of the city with some of the BEST food we had in Italy that week. We award him a "5-stars review", high accolades from our New York family!
Manuel was so nice and knowledgeable He showed us things we would have never seen in Italy on our own. We had great conversation with him. Very fun to be around!
Martina knows her stuff. Good communicator and genuinely nice. Enjoyed every moment. We saw all the important sights and tasted some lovely food. The cheese, local meats and condiments was the stand out for us. The pasta was equally as good.
We met Manuel at the Porta Borsari and immediately felt welcome and at ease. He enlightened us with facts about Verona, its history, lifestyle and customs. Our tour took us to the main attractions in the old part of the city and a wonderful selection of wines and tasty foods. Manuel was friendly and knowledgeable and even sent us recommendations for wineries and restaurants as we travel further into the Dolimites. We would highly recommend him to any travellers who are visiting Verona. Thankyou so much Manuel. Alison and Peter
We had a great time on this tour. Manuel was super informative and engaging. Each stop was filled with good food and rich history and I would highly recommend him as a guide. This tour felt like we were being taken around by a friend who wanted to show off a place he loved. Honestly wish we had more time and an emptier stomach to see more.
This review is based on Trip Advisor canceling the tour 30 minutes before it was set to begin. (We were coming into Verona by train from another city.) When I made the reservation, I saw that WithLocals didn’t have any availability for this tour. I think Trip Advisor took our reservation knowing that there was no one available to do the tour. This is poor business practice. I expect more from Trip Advisor.
Alessandro was a very engaging and knowledgeable host. He spent the extra time with us explaining everything we asked. He is obviously very passionate about his city and it shows. Would highly recommend!
Alessandro was a fantastic tour guide! As a local, he showed us things that we would easily have overlooked. His local perspective was exactly the kind of tour to give us an experience that only few could provide. His knowledge and insights brought Verona to life for us. I would highly recommend a tour with Alessandro!
We met Alessandro on a very rainy day for a tour of Verona. He took us to some amazing places, including a very old wine shop, fantastic pizza (the best we've had in Italy), and all of the important sites. Alessandro showed us his favorite places in addition to his childhood school. He was very interesting, fun, and knowledgable. We are so happy we got to spend a few hours with him in Verona!
Great time! Alessandro was a great pleasure. He was very informative and provided a wealth of info about Verona. Food and wine was just as good
Alessandro was the perfect guide. Having grown up in Verona, his knowledge of the city was vast and deep. The experience was at my pace and I felt he was always looking after my needs. I saw a lot in an afternoon and definitely feel it was a good value.. Highly recommend!
Okay, I was booked for the food walking tour with a group. I ended up with a tour guide named Alessandro and I was by myself. It was a tour of Verona, not a food tour. Now Alessandro was very very good and I enjoyed the tour immensely. But it was not what I signed up for Thanks
Martina was a great guide and we got to try many different foods and drinks of the region. Highly recommend!
We had a fabulous time with our guide Alessandro. Wonderful information about Verona, 3 stops for local food and wine. It was a great nite to be remembered
Food tours have become part of our travel experiences now. We have done many and this one did not disappoint. Martina was our guide and we really enjoyed her knowledge and company. We sampled lots of food (some unusual and glad to have had opportunity to try) and beverages. We took a day trip from Venice to Verona so we had only one day in Verona. This was the way to do it. Martina brought us to all the scenic sites, taught us the history of the city and we ate a lot while doing it. What could be more perfect?! See, learn and taste the city at the same time. We also loved that Martina joined us while eating! I would have been awkward if she watched us eat but that was never an issue. She loves the local food too and joined right in with us which made us so happy.
This was NOT a foodie tour. We had one glass of wine, a little pizza, one coffee, a gelato and some small cookies. Great walking history tour with a local, but TERRIBLE food tour. We weren’t provided anything we wouldn’t have found on our own. Our guide pointed out restaurants he recommended for later but did not offer to feed us what was advertised.
This tour did not deliver any of the food inclusions that were advertised. The tour provided was a walking history tour of Verona and we experienced none of the food itinerary that was clearly advertised in the tour description and what we paid for. We have requested a full refund from the provider, as the tour description was misleading and the advertised "Foodie" inclusions were not offered in any form by our guide that had similar poor reviews in delivering this tour to other guests. We definitely do not recommend booking this tour of you are looking for a quality food tour.

Alessandro was the perfect host to guide us through Verona! We knew very little about this small city before our tour and Alessandro went into great depth sharing it’s complex history- not just the larger history but the fine details and pointing out things we would have never noticed. Details of the frescos, statues, marble sidewalks, windows, mosaics, churches, bridges, buildings that brought the past to life and have us a sense of the people who lived there. He chose food stops off the tourist path that were fantastic and gave us an authentic taste of what the residents enjoy eating. He gave us additional suggestions for activities and dining to continue exploring after the tour ended. He is a lifelong resident and his love for his hometown is evident. His tour was the highlight of our time in Verona! If you love history, delicious authentic food, and making a new friend, please spend time in Verona with Alessandro!
Allasandro was our host and gave us a lot of history which I like and he grew up in Verona so he shows where the locals eat which was great
We had a lovely afternoon with Martina. It was so nice to get to know her better and understand what the Italian lifestyle is truly like. She has a wonderful knowledge of Verona and it's restaurants. We tried foods and drinks that we never would have attempted without her advice. La bottega della Gina was my favourite - the truffle pasta was SUBLIME!!
Michelle was awesome! She took us to see cheese making (and tasting) then a farm with the famous black pigs. Afterwards we went to a restaurant/farm and sampled the famous Culatello salami which was delicious. We also had a nice lunch and yummy desserts. Michelle even helped us with places to see in Parma after our tour. Recommending restaurants, places to park and yummy gelato. Her heart is really in it when she talks about how they produce the cheese and salami. You can tell she cares for the artisans of this trade.
I booked this tour for me and my husband on a whim just to give us something to do for the weekend...and it was an excellent decision! Our guide Cristina responded to us within an hour to inquire about our food preferences and to also ensure that we didn’t have any allergies which we found to be very helpful and thoughtful. Once we met up at the designated time, she was very informative about each place we went to and she showed us some different restaurants that we may not have ventured into had we visited Verona on our own. At each place, she asked us if we wanted photos and let us take our time to marvel at everything after explaining the history behind it. We even got to see the arena which was sooo beautiful in person. If you want a tour guide that is going to show you more than just the typical tourists routes, book with Cristina. She made our experience worthwhile.
Very good experience Yanira she is very nice and funny. Recomend a lot. We lurn about thr italian food from inside
" We had a very interesting tour with Francesca. We really liked all the explanations on the market about the Italian vegetables and products. We appreciated the snacks on our way and recommend to do this tour with Francesca if you like to cook and eat Italian food. She has a lot op ideas for recipes! Thank you very much Francesca. "
Brilliant Tour with Eleanor... Oh how I wish to do it again. Loved everything about it. The little treats along the way, the history and just about everything Thankyou
took the tasting tour with guide Yanira. Excellent introduction to the city and local food. Yanira provided a lot of background & history info. Food was great. Would highly recommend both the tour and Yanira. Note - we took the tour prior to COVID
Giuliana took a group of 9 of us on a Monday afternoon tour. Giuliana is friendly and knowledgeable about her city. The food was delicious and the walking tour was fun and not overly strenuous. Giuliana brought us to places we would never have found on our own. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Giuliana was a pleasure to spend time with. Also, I originally booked this tour for 6 people and Giuliana was very helpful when I needed to add people to it. It wasn't possible to do it directly through the Withlocals website without cancelling and starting again which would have caused cancellation charges. Thank you Giuliana!
Maurizio is a unique local guide. His high energy enthusiasm, likeable personality with a well travelled rock music background was very engaging. He gave our small family group a truly authentic local food tasting tour with drinking and chatting. An entertaining and enjoyable experience we won't forget. Highly recommended if you want to discover a more chilled out side of Roman life. Salute Maurizio! Ivan and the others.
Francesca was extremely knowledgeable and so full of history. Loved my time spent with her. Would highly recommend her
" Federico was the perfect guide to show us around his beautiful city! He took us to some amazing sights and we were blown away by the delicious food and drink that was provided. Federico even adapted our tour and encorporated some history and culture which ended with a lovely bottle of chilled local wine. I would recommend his tour to anyone that is looking for a relaxed tour of the city, we managed to see and taste things that we would never had found. Federico made us feel welcome straight away; we didnt stop laughing the whole way and it was great to hear about his travels to Spain and the UK. Thankyou for your hospitality, will book again when we return !!! "
" We had a tour with yanira. She is very inteligent and knows a lot. She answered all our questions abd was very patient. We highly recomend to reserve a tour with her. Thank you yanira!!! "
Really helped with the rest of holiday, great knowledge and choosing restaurant and food Very interesting tour,we loved the history and of course the food. Would highly recommend Massimo's tour ,wished we had time to book a cooking course with him,if we come back that would be on our agenda. Thanks "
We had a great time during our tastingtour with Christina! She showed us some very good local bistro's, bars and foodcorners. Christina really specified the tour to our whishes. Verona is a fantastic city and Christina loves to talk about it and shows you the places that aren't to touristic. We liked that. We highly recommend Christina to everybody who likes to get to know Verona and all of its lovely places!
The whole tour was perfectly paced from start to finish and the tour guides knowledge made it a fascinating trip to Verona like the church we started at being visited by Mozart where he scribed his naw in the piano. What better way to see a place than with a guided tour of food and wine! We sampled the most lovely food from little breads where you could choose your topping to double crunch pizza at the beautiful square to the BEST dessert place ever - flego! Luckily they had lots of mini desserts because I was already quite full by then. Our guide Martina was so friendly and chatty and we were so comfortable. I would 100% recommend this tour.
Christina is a great host, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Her English is very good and it was a fun food tour with Christina, I would highly recommend her as a host! Christina also followed up the tour by sending some recommendations and a recipe which was lovely. The tour itself was expensive for what you got but was a great way of seeing and tasting Verona.
100% glad we booked this tour. Alessandro grew up in Verona and is also very well traveled. He spoke English well and had tons of knowledge about Italy and the Verona area. The tortellini was by far the most memorable dish we had. Incredible!! He took us through some of the local areas and we also tried espresso, local wines, cicchetti and gelato. Worth the experience because we saw and tried more quality and authentic foods/drinks than we would have on our own.
We had a wonderful tour for two with the tour guide and it was just a highlight of our trip! Since we were traveling alone with her, the atmosphere was very personal and relaxed. We ate incredibly well and discovered great local spots that we would never have found on our own. It was especially nice that we also got exciting insights and stories about the city – which made our stay even more special. Highly recommended! Grazie Cristina!:-)
Väldigt trevlig och kunnig guide som tog oss runt Verona och berättade om kultur och historia. Vi stannade på hans egna stamställen och provades deras specialiteter. Jag kan verkligen rekommendera den här rundturen!
The guide was very nice and competent. We learned a lot about Verona. Even after the guided tour we continued to have contact and received several tips on sightseeing and food venues. It was a very nice in informative tour of Verona.
My mom and I had a great private tour with Martina. 3 hours she showed us the city (in German!) and offered us many delicacies. Everything was there: Sweet, savoury and alcohol. I really liked everything. I remember one stop very well: a small shop where cheese, sausage and the like are served. The special thing is the location: right on the river. You'd never find it as a Touri. We can definitely recommend Martina as a tour guide!
