From Verona: Madonna Della Corona Shrine Day Trip

Alessandro was awesome! Such a nice and friendly tour guide. He really made the experience awesome and we will highly recommend this tour to friends/family. He drove us in a comfortable van to the town of Spiazzi and gave us lots of helpful information along the way and while at the amazing church. The lunch meal was delicious as well. Highly recommend!

A must-see site. We had a terrific, very knowledgeable guide. The lunch was great. There is a fair share of walking involved with this tour but nothing to stressful.

The tour of the Madonna della Corona Shrine was absolutely fantastic and worth the time and money. Our guide, Alessandro, provided a wonderful experience which began with an informative drive about the region between Verona and Spiazzi. Once parked in Spiazzi, Alessandro took our small group on a short hike to a viewing area which provided majestic views of the church. We then hiked from the viewing area back to Spiazzi and then began the trek down to the church. Alessandro provided a wonderful tour of the church and the surrounding area. Thankfully, the tour included a bus ride back up the mountain! After we arrived back in Spiazzi, Alessandro treated us to an outstanding lunch at a local trattoria. Following lunch, Alessandro provided a quiet drive back to Verona. I highly recommend this tour and I highly recommend requesting Alessandro as your guide!

I highly recommend this 5 hour day trip. Allesandro was our guide. You won't fine a better tour guide. His manner and local knowledge werre exceptional. He knew exactly where to take us to show us Madonna della Corona from a distance before taking to and through the church. Yuo don't have to be religious to appreciate this fabulous church. I would happily do this tour again and recommend it to anyone reading this review.

It is well worth the time! Guide was very knowledgeable, kept everything on schedule, went the extra mile to show a few spots not normally on the tour, and the history/views were amazing. For those wondering about the food, we went to a restaurant in the small town and had a 3 course meal, very Italian like. Overall 5/5 experience.

The tour was worth every penny, and the Santuario Madonna della Corona is definitely worth visiting. The location itself is spectacular, built into the mountainside, and it’s one of those places that is even more impressive in person than in photos. There were only three of us in our group, but our host was great and had so much to tell us, not just about the Santuario but also about Verona and the surrounding region. Having that extra background definitely added to the experience rather than simply visiting the site on our own. The food afterwards was also very good and was a lovely way to finish the tour. It was also nice to spend some time with other people who had travelled to visit the Santuario, all for their own reasons, which made the experience feel that little bit more special. We didn’t catch the name of the third traveller in our group, but if she sees this, we hope you enjoy your trekking around Croatia and eventually make your way over to the UK to experience some of our hikes! We’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Verona area who wants to see something a little different from the usual sights.

Amazing personal experience. We had a lovely small group. Our tour guide was very patient I’m struggling in the heat not used to it. He was v informative. The meal at the end was excellent 3 courses, wine coffee and then back to Verona in a nice cool air condition car. You do not need to be religious for this trip it’s worth seeing.

We intentionally found a tour of this church when I saw it on a google map. Alessandro was our guide and he was fantastic! Very patient. Explained all of the history. I didn’t realize there was an entire outdoor, Stations of the Cross in massive bronze statues along the way. One of the most stunning displays of art and nature I’ve ever seen. Well worth the effort to do this trip.

I’m so glad I trusted the reviews because Alessandro truly lived up to the praise. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and you can feel how passionate he is about his work. Lunch was delicious too! I came from Milan just for this tour, and Madonna della Corona was such a beautiful and memorable experience. I’d recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

We really enjoyed this small group tour to a unique spot! There were 8 in our group plus the tour guide so a nice number. The guide was informative and knowledgable and very patient! Lunch was simple traditional food but so well done! We really enjoyed it so thank you!

An amazing day seeing this amazing church! Light walking down a paved path to the church, but there are some stairs leading up to the church. The lunch was good, and our guide, Alessandro, was so informative, and made the day fun!

This tour was absolutely incredible! Alessandro, our guide, was knowledgeable, kind, and organized. He was an excellent host who shared his wealth of knowledge throughout the trip while giving ample time to explore on our own. Lunch was very tasty and filling, and the location couldn’t have been any more picturesque. I would happy take this tour 100 times over and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys beautiful mountain hikes, Catholic architecture, and a true adventure. It is also great for solo travelers like myself. If you’re traveling to Verona and need to take some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then consider going on this experience. You won’t regret it!

Very enjoyable day. Alessandro is very friendly and will give you facts and explain the history that you wouldn't normally get. The lunch provided was a real treat. The transport is clean, air conditioned. Really enjoyed rhe day. I would be prepared, there is a bit of walking involved but most of the steep stuff can be avoided by taking the shuttle bus.

What a wonderful surprise. We booked this tour without knowing anything about the church. It was amazing! The tour guide was informative. We got in a lot of steps. And we were so touched by the stories of the basilica. The drive thru the countryside was beautiful and lunch was excellent.

I had a great trip with Alessandro and 7 others in a small group tour to Madonna Della Corona. The shrine is a fascinating church built into a mountain. The drive there was through beautiful mountainous countryside. Alessandro is great guide. He explained the history of the Shrine in a way that was accessible and interesting. He is a god communicator and friendly and approachable. We had great lunch in a local listeria with gluten free and vegetarian options. I throughly enjoyed myself with great company and learned about a fascinating building.

Highly recommend. Everything was better than we expected. It was a relaxing 1/2 day outside of Verona. We learned so many interesting historical facts from Alessandro about the area and the church throughout the tour. This was so much more than just a stop to see a church, which was a masterpiece. The easy, short walk there was a road dotted with the stations of the cross, a view of caves on the cliff face and the church itself had multiple levels full of stories and treasures. We were offered the option to take a bus back up the hill and the lunch waiting for us was delicious and substantial.

To the amazing Sanctuary of Madonna Della Corona...what an unforgettable journey from start to finish. A heartfelt thank-you to our amazing host and guide, Alessandro, who made this experience even more meaningful. He had kindness and knowledge and a passion for this experience. The view of the church is breathtaking! The history is incredible and our lunch was delightful. It was an amazing tour. We loved spending time with Alessandro. He loves the history and it shows. He was very knowledgeable of the entire region, we learned a lot. He really made our trip!

Great tour today with Alessandro. He is smart, fun, experienced, educated, and sensitive. His English is excellent. We learned a lot from him about the region and about the Sanctuario. He has a nice van with space for luggage. Highly recommend!

This was a lovely tour with our fantastic guide Alessandro. We had been thinking of going to the Sanctuary but didn’t want to rent a car. This tour including the trip to and from Verona was so convenient, and a wonderful lunch with wine was a great bonus. Our guide also took us to an incredible viewpoint of the sanctuary. Definitely recommend this tour.

This was probably one of the highlights of our two weeks in Verona and a superb day in the company of Alessandro, our guide and 6 other guests. Most of us found the walk through the forest hearing the singing over the valley, very emotional. And then the walk to the church and the church itself was unique. Alessandro walked us down to the church passed all the statues of the stations of the Cross. We were all grateful for the bus back uphill before a superb lunch locally in great company. Visitor numbers have increased hugely to the church - go now before it becomes overwhelming!
