Carolyn was such a great teaching professional. She gave us the knowledge and the tools to create a lovely Italian Dinner. We are so grateful we were able to attend her cooking class. We definitely recommend her cooking Class.
Oh, what a wonderful experience and dream come true! Learning how to make pasta and other Italian cuisine in actual Italy with Venice church bells sounding in the background from a professional chef was remarkable. Chef Carolyn is such a delightful person and we couldn’t be more pleased on how we spent our day. From picking fresh basil off her terrace and making local cichetti with local seasonal food, left us inspired. She provides you with the recipes and skills to make these dishes at home and we look forward to making them for our friends and family when we get back to the states.
If you’re looking for a truly memorable experience in Venice, Yummy Cooking Class with Carolyn is an absolute must. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and instantly immersed in the rich history and culinary traditions of Italy. Carolyn is not only a fantastic teacher but also a passionate storyteller. She shared fascinating insights about Venice’s past, local ingredients, and gave us loads of helpful tips on where to eat, shop, and explore while in the city. Her enthusiasm made the whole experience feel personal and authentic. The cooking itself was an absolute joy. We prepared a selection of traditional dishes, each one tastier than the last and learned useful techniques and secrets that I’ll be using at home. The kitchen was beautifully set up, and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. Whether you’re a beginner or confident in the kitchen, Carolyn makes sure everyone is involved and enjoying themselves. The highlight? Sitting down to enjoy the delicious food we made, with a glass of wine and great company. This class was the perfect blend of food, culture, and local charm. I left full, happy, and already planning what I’ll cook when I get home. Highly recommended, you’ll leave with a full heart, a full belly, and some serious cooking inspiration!
What a wonderful and tasty experience 😋. Your gracious host ,Chef Carolyn, welcomes you into her own kitchen. You're definitely going to get your "hands on experience" with Italian cooking. Carolyn is a wonderful teacher and passes on wonderful cooking tips as well as recommendations for eating and visiting in Venice. I had a blast! I highly recommend this cooking class.
Looking for a personal class where you get to see what's behind the doors of Venice? This cooking class is taught by an award winning chef and gives you a chance to be part of her home for a day. The food is amazing, she uses seasonal ingredients and all recipes are included. I went with my mother in her 70s and my teenagers and everyone had a wonderful time. Carolyn makes sure to give each guest personal instruction at their skill level and everyone got a chance to get their hands dirty and make our shared meal. If you want to experience Venice not as a customer but as a guest, this small group class is perfect. Be sure to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the class to make the most of your booking!
Carolyn was so welcoming and fun! She patiently taught us how to make delicious venetian food and we had an amazing time! She took time to tell us plenty of tips for navigating Venice and things to do for fun and food!
When I booked this I guess I didn't really pay attention. we just wanted to do a good cooking class and words cannot describe what a great experience we had with Carolyn. she is a local and the cooking class was in her home which made it very personable and we were able to see how the locals live and how they prepare their meals everyday.
What a fun experience! Carolyn was a delight. I brought my 9 yr son with me to Venice and didn't know what to do that he would be interested in. I took a chance, and it paid off. Watching him learn to make pasta was so much fun for me and he really enjoyed the experience as well. I was scared he wouldn't eat it..... but omg in his words "it's so good, I love it" and it was. I really enjoyed this activity. Couldn't ask for a better chef. Carolyn was patient and warm and kind and full of resources. I would suggest you see her first on your trip. She can tell you things to see and do as well. Please book. It's worth it! I plan on coming back with more family to Venice again, would love to do another class with her.
Cooking Class with chef Carolyn… what a fun and yummy experience. We learned to prepare a variety of italian dishes (Crema del doge, lingue di gatto, different cichetti and most important… homemade pasta). She explained things well and made steps simple, as well as sharing tips along the way. She was telling these little funny anecdotes and made us feel welcome to her home. Highly recommendable.
Perfecto. Loved being in Carolyn’s home. WE all feel able to recreate the dish. Lunch on her roof terrace was stunning. She also offered tips on enjoying Venice (in writing). Simply lovely
Carolyn is a great chef! We made ravioli, homemade pasta in fresh basil sauce , butter biscuits, with Doge’s cream dessert. She also gave us lots of helpful hints. After we were finished Carolyn had a nice place on her balcony for us to eat our creations.
Such an informative class. We learned so much about making pasta and had a great time. If you are on the edge about the class, most definitely take it! So worth it!!
Our cooking class with Carolyn was fantastic! It was fun, approachable, and we learned a lot. Great for adults and kids!!!
Carolyn was simply wonderful! The recipes she showed us how to make were absolutely delicious, and we can’t wait to make them for family and friends back home. She took so much time and care to show us how to make the dishes to ensure that we’d have no trouble recreating them. Additionally, we appreciated all of her stories and tips about the city of Venice as well.
It was fun, educational and after returning home I was successful in practicing what we were taught. Everything was well planned out and well executed. The lunch we made and enjoyed together was delightful. We would highly recommend this experience to our friends.
We had a wonderful cooking experience with Carolyn. We made ravioli, tortellini, and tagliatelle. We also made cicchetti (small plates) and dessert. It was a fun and informative experience that we would highly recommend!
An amazing experience!!! We loved every part of it! Carolyn was a great host and had some interesting insight, even for someone who is familiar in the kitchen. We will be sure to make these recipes again!
This was an absolutely amazing experience and we are so glad we did it. If I could go back I would do it toward the beginning of our trip because Carolyn had so many wonderful recommendations for places to eat, places to see, and things to do. A must if you are in Venice. We highly recommend and if we ever come back we will definitely do it again.
We had a great time with Carolyn who shares so much knowledge of cooking and of Venice! She’s excellent at making everyone feel very at home in her kitchen!
We came to Venice for our honeymoon. We both knew we wanted to do a cooking class in Italy and when we found this class thought it would be a fun activity for us. Carolyn brings you in and treats you like family. I have allergies and that wasn’t communicated to her prior to our class but she was able to quickly think on her feet and figure something out for me to eat which was so appreciated. She explained everything we were doing in such a simple and amazing way, she made sure to have printouts of everything that we made and talked about for us to take home with us. Next time we come back to Venice we will certainly be doing another class with her!
This was a wonderful class!! So interactive with the host!! Caroline was an excellent host!!! 5 stars!!
The host is a good home cook. She provided a number of good tips, the food was enjoyable and her kitchen is beautiful. However there were a number of disappointing aspects of the time spent. It is more of a demo than the advertised “Class” experience, Compared to other cooking classes we attended while on vacation in Spain the host did not invite questions from the four of us and it was a one way conversation. We were unable to truly engage with the other two guests which is normally a fun aspect. The host was rude and aggressive with us. She did not even know the correct name of her assistant. Her business skills were terribly lacking since 1) she did not advise us that recording her tips was against policy (we did not intend to post any), 2) she exceeded the posted length of the class by thirty minutes which did not respect our timetables for other events and then 3) requested photos of our tickets as we were headed out the door. Worst of all were her personal sanitary habits. We gladly washed our hands at the start and left our germy phones off the preparation surface. However, she wiped her nose with her hand numerous times and the proceeded to kneed the pasta dough we all ate except her. She also had a couching fit without covering her mouth. All of these factors and her pompous manner left a rather sour taste in our mouths.
Carolina was wonderful. She made sure to use ingredients readily available so we could re-create our dishes at home. It’s much more than a pasta cooking class. We made appetizers and dessert, and got tips on places to go and things to see. I would recommend taking this class early on your Venice trip so as to be able to use all of the information she shared.
We had a wonderful time doing the class, learning about Venice and it’s food, making our lunch and sitting on the terrace. Thank you to Carolyn for creating a memorable moment on our trip
We had a wonderful time with Carolyn. She is a gracious host. I have already made a fish we made at her home. I just miss the recipes. Carolyn was supposed To send me pdf’s and she has not as of yet
What a incredible experience. Carolyn was very prepared and such a great teacher! My wife and I highly recommended this experience!
Not only did we learn how to cook but we learned so much more about Venice culture, history and traditions. A very special experience. Carolyn was wonderful!
It was a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to try cooking these dishes at home with my family. The chef went above and beyond by supplying us with the recipe’s, tips on things to do while in Venice, tips for navigating Venice, etc. Her home was amazing too. I would highly recommend this cooking experience.
This was an amazing experience, Carolyn was wonderful and made this experience so nice. I love to cook pasta but after this class I will never cook pasta the same again as Carolyn’s way was so much better. She made you feel at ease and very very welcome in her home .. we got to eat our food out on the terrace and it was so tasty and amazing, she also gave you an insight to Venetian life and local traditions which was a brilliant history lesson, I would 100% go to her class if I returned to Venice and highly recommend it to any foodies everywhere. She sent us home with all the recipes to recreate at home . Thanks for an amazing experience
Was very professional. Lovely chief and I learnt lots of great tips. Feel privileged to be invited to her home to learn Italian cooking.
Welcoming environment. She gave good background into herself and the area. Really fun to learn how to make these classic dishes.
Great experience with an award winning chef, whose passion for Venetian and Italian food is overflowing! The chef shares so much of hard earned experience, tips, and tricks, condensed into a fast class. Further, the chef is an environmentalist, reducing waste where possible. The recipes and cooking also are basic enough that they can actually be done at home, without specialized equipment and mostly without specialized ingredients. Sometimes the chef’s passion and expertise can be a little intimidating for guests as it may come off as a little pushy, but it’s necessary if students are to do cooking and if the dishes are to come out excellent. The chef talks very fast, so a strong understanding of English will be helpful to get as much of the teaching as possible.
The transportation is a bit difficult to understand at first in Venice. Due to this, we were late to our class and told we could not reschedule. We were also refused a refund.
Great experience; highly recommend! Carolyn is detailed patient and instructive not to mention the quality of food we prepped and tasted. You do not have to be a ‘cook’ for her class. I am not but she made me feel I could preparer the class meal at home!!
This was so much fun! Carolyn is friendly, full of wonderful tips for new visitors to Venice, a fabulous chef & a patient teacher. We highly recommend this experience!
Carolyn was a wonderful chef and shared tips & tricks. She taught us to make pasta, an Italian dessert and Venetian biscuits. Her bubbly personality and patience helped. Great day and highly recommended.
Fantastic class, Carolyn is a great teacher and was super informative while keeping things light and fun. Would definitely recommend to a friend!
carolyn met us and from the start was talkative and inviting. she told us stories and gave us great recipes. love it 10/10
We got to make everything ourselves. It was an awesome experience. We tried to sign up to do it a second time . But that did not work.
I was traveling alone and this was a great activity to participate in. Carolyn's was engaging and friendly with all participants. The food was DELICIOUS!
We had the absolute best time with Carolyn. She was so knowledgeable not only about the food but Venice as well. Her class was great for both beginners and more advanced cooks as she had so many tips and tricks to share. The class takes place in her home and it completely made the class being in a real Venetian home, so different than other cooking classes. She made everyone feel comfortable and we all had so much fun! The food was absolutely amazing as well, I cannot believe how well it turned out! Would absolutely recommend this experience! Seriously the best thing we have done!
Great experience for foodies and those curious to learn more about Venice! Carolyn was hospitable, funny, and knowledgeable. She was also fluent in both English and Italian, which eliminated the bottleneck in information that sometimes happens when taking cooking classes with locals. A small group and great choice of foods had everyone hands-on throughout the experience. If we could give this more stars, we would. :)
We had an amazing time with our chef and teacher Carolyn at this almost 5 hour cooking class. We made cichetti (appetizers), pumpkin ravioli and browned butter and sage, tagliatelle in pumpkin and herb cream sauce, cream del Doge dessert, and butter cookies. We drank lots of Prosecco and Pinot Grigio, then ate our sumptuous lunch on her scenic balcony 🥂🥰🇮🇹 Carolyn is an excellent teacher, she demonstrated and gave us hands on experiences. She not taught us a lot about cooking, but also shared a great deal of information about Venice in general. My husband and I both loved and highly recommend this class! Grazie Carolyn 👏🏻
Thanks Carolyn for a wonderful experience and day 1 in Venice. We had hands on training with lots of tips. Plus you enjoy your meal on her balcony - delicious food and great view. I can't wait to try recreating the meals we did. Carolyn also provided a lot of places to see and restaurants and food to try while in Venice. Highly recommend!
We have mixed reviews about this TripAdvisor booking. The food was good but even the chef stated she would not have use the same sauce on one of the dishes as it was too heavy. Another sauce that was made, brown butter sauce, and we were not even shown how to do it, meaning she did the sauce and it was there. It felt more like a chef preparing us a meal, talking about how she was preparing the meal and using us somewhat as sous chefs but not entirely learning how to cook the complete meal. This was a culinary experience but NOT necessarily a cooking class. Additionally, she showed up smoking a cigarette which should definitely be avoided. Throwing the cigarette on the ground and leaving it, is also quite a poor impression. Stepping away for a few minutes to set the table and smoke another cigarette and coming down smelling of cigarette was also not appreciated to non-smokers. Choosing a pumpkin menu caused some consternation but it did come out ok. Providing recipes and substitutions for ingredients was much appreciated. Chef does have an abrasive attitude at times and comes across quite full of herself. We get that she is an accomplished chef and that is a plus. Focus on teaching and not providing accolades for your accomplishments. Please do not reply to me telling me this is a personal thought and that this class is what the people want. I’ve been to other cooking classes that were far better than this one. I also do many reviews for everything I book on TripAdvisor. I am honest and upfront with experiences I have had.
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Venice. Chef Carolyn was friendly, very well prepared and so professional as she guided us through the pasta & dessert recipes in her Venetian home. I would highly recommend this tour.
It was a nice way to meet other people on the trip. It’s nice and intimate so it easy to learn the recipes and also you’re able to talk about different ones and ideas. I would definitely recommend this to anyone else! Loved it
This was a wonderful experience! The cooking process was fun and informative and we got to try everything and learned so much! This was one of the most delicious meals we had on the trip and it was exciting to know we made it. I would highly recommend this experience!!
Wonderful class! Extremely well organized and great instruction, Carolyn shares a lot of knowledge and skill throughout the class. Class began with making a dessert, Lingue di gatto with cream del doge. We made a three cheese ravioli with tomato sauce and a tagliatelle pesto, where were all awesome. The cichetti sampling was great and a treat to enjoy with Prosecco while waiting for the sauces to cook. Enjoying lunch on the rooftop terrace was the cherry on top! We can't wait to get back home and practice our new skills!
