Our guide Vanessa was amazing! We enjoyed everything we learned through her and the food experiences.

Vanessa is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and entertaining host and guide. She is a delight. The restaurants she chose are delicious but more importantly, she made the history of the Jewish ghetto accessible to today’s audience.
Vanessa was an exceptional tour guide. She is a fountain of information with true passion for the history of Venice and its inhabitants. The selected food and drink stops were fun and delicious. Vanessa looked after individual requests and needs with pleasure. Come with an appetite! And leave with a head full of facts.
Vanessa was wonderful. She was informative and fun to be with. I would highly recommend this tour. There was lots of food and it was quite delicious.
Vanessa is passionate about her history, food and flavors of Venice. She really cares that everyone learns and has a great time. Brava!
Our guide Vanessa transformed our experience with not only local tastes and smells, but took us back in time and painted a better understanding of how life was experienced by Venecians, but most importantly, how the Jewish community lived. Her love and passion for history is transformed into a colourful painting and creates a mindful reality of the past. I would suggest an empty stomach on arrival, as we consume various dishes right up to the end of the tour. The only mistake made, was doing the tour on the first day, as I now see Venice in a very different way. Venice, you are a true beauty who has stood the test of time.
This was a group tour but there were only 4 of us that evening. Our guide, Vanessa, was Italian, young and bubbly, and had very good English skills. We started with Yum Yum restaurant and the appetizer spread of hummus, falafel, and many other salads was very good. This is a kosher establishment so there was also kosher wine. We wandered through the ghetto and saw the exterior of the two operating synagogues. It would have been nice to see the interior but I did not know if that was not allowed because of security. Some of the other synagogues are in the process of being restored as a museum but unfortunately were not open for viewing yet. The main square held monuments and memorials but by the time we got there it was dark and we had to use our cellphone flashlights to see these sights. It would have better if the guide had a good light or the tour operator had scheduled the tour a little earlier in the day. We then visited Cannaregio. On this portion of the tour we were served wine and snacks at one locale which were ok, very good pasta and wine at another restaurant (you had two choices of pasta), and we ended with yummy gelato at our last stop. I thought that it was an interesting tour and I enjoyed getting out of the hubbub of St. Mark’s square and visiting other parts of Venice. I would recommend this tour and Vanessa as a guide.
My husband and I had a great time. Our wonderful guide was a great companion. Her knowledge and dedication impressed us so much!! We hope to return to Venice and to retake the tour.
This is a “must do” experience! Vanessa was a fun, intelligent, informative guide. Vanessa walked us through the history of Venice’s Jewish Ghetto and more. All of our senses were aroused and used: The smells and tastes of local foods and wines, the sounds of the city, touching the walls of temples, and seeing the ancient buildings. She specializes in make each stop personal with food and beverage choices. It was certainly an adventurous day. I highly recommend this guide and tour!
Our tour guide, Vanessa, was outstanding. Her research and knowledge of the local history and stories were excellent. Her ability to recommend foods and wines for tasting was one of the best we've experienced. She was conscious of our group's needs and expectations and made every effort to ensure that everyone in the group had an amazing experience. Be prepared to eat quite a bit. There was plenty to taste and eat. When in Venice, be sure to take this tour and ask for Vanessa. You will not be disappointed.
There is a good bit of walking involved and there is the opportunity to try foods you may never have eaten before. You may not like everything, but it’s an experience. You need to pace yourself because there is a lot of food. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun.
Dennis was very informative and personable. He made sure that everyone was able to participate. It was a very pleasant afternoon.
This food tour was both educational and delicious. Make sure you come HUNGRY! Sooo much food and drink! Definitely worth the money and time. We loved that we were taken off the beaten path and learned a lot about the real Venice and its history.
So much fun exploring Venice and eating and drinking on the way. Our guide had a lot of knowledge and did a wonderful job on the tour. Tried different foods, and plenty of wine along the way! Come hungry......
Way too much food. Be prepared. Walked way too far to get to restaurant. Our guide was excellent. Would recommend her. Can not remember her name.
Our tour guide was great very knowledgeable and informative. She took us off the beaten path to a lot of different restaurants and really knew about the culture. I would highly recommend this tour.
We took this food tour on the day we arrived in Venice. It was a small group (9) including 4 of our party. Our guide was excellent! We went to a small bakery for Impade. Our next stop included Prosecco, pizza, arancini. We walked the streets which were not touristy and learned about this area of Venice. Stopped for Aperol Spritz and local appetizers. Next stop, meatballs and ombré wine. We also had dinner, Squid ink pasta and eggplant Parmesan, breads, tiramisu and wine at a small beautiful restaurant with exposed stone and wooden beams. Topped off the evening with gelato. Come hungry! This is a great way to get local foods and have a fun evening with a local that can tell you some history of the area. I would absolutely recommend this tour. I had never done anything like this before but I’m telling everyone about it!
Denys was a very knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humour. We learned a little of history even tho it was a food based tour. He introduced a lot of food and local drinks to us. Clearly explained the different types of eateries in Venice. We were lucky to be a group of only 5. Great start to our Venice trip. Highly recommend
Vanessa ensured a really nice atmosphere, drinks were included and food was plenty, my favorite was the pasta
Vanessa our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. The food and wine were top notch. We would highly recommend this tour!!
Denis was a wonderful guide - he was charming, funny, and knowledgeable. Learned a lot. Denis gave us restaurant suggestions in the city at the end of our tour too. Our group was 8 people which was a good number. Stopped at about 6 different places. Denis accommodated people with dietary restrictions and those who wanted something different than the planned tour food with no judgment.
Fun Tour, great job by tour Guide! Good way to see a Venice that you might not have considered. Food was very good too!
We had such a great time with Vanessa! The perfect balance between history, walking, and food! The food / drinks were plentiful and a nice variety - We were stuffed by the end! We took the tour our first night which was most helpful for the remainder of our stay (knowing what to order, resaurant recommendations, etc). Would definitely recommend this tour!
This was an incredible experience. Our guide was patient and explained everything along the way. The food offerings were great. The tour covered everything, and when it was over our guide walked me the short distance in the extreme heat to my hotel. I would recommend her and the tour to anyone interested in the history of the Jewish Ghetto in Venice.
I heard our guide's name once and never really understood it, so sorry for not using her name. She was amazing. We signed up for this tout after our chosen tour guide said he was not available. We really lucked out. Our group of nine had an amazing tour and dinner. Five very filling and delicious courses that we tried to walk off as she showed us through the Venice Ghetto and Cannareggio District. We started with a stop at a bakery for amazing almond cookies. By the time we got to the appetizer stop we were ready for more food. The Venician cocktails and little open-face sandwiches were delicious. Our guide made sure there was plenty of food I could eat since I am so allergic to seafood. I was pretty full after this stop. We moved on to a pasta course, fish course and then amazing gelatto all the while seeing interesting places and hearing great stories. We loved it!
Great explanation of the history of the ghetto and the people who lived there over the centuries. This was our first time in this part of Venice and we loved walking some of its narrow streets. We also learned about the significance of the food and drink in culture.
fThis was one of the best tours we did in Venice. First off, going to different restaurants for each course was phenomenal. They were among the best restaurants we went to in Italy. The guide was informative, entertaining, and delightful. Finally, it was great to see a part of Venice not overrun by tourists. After the tour, we took the guide's suggestion and spent more time in the neighborhood among a very local crowd and amazing sunset views. This tour far exceeded my expectations.
Guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour a lot of fun!! Even though we had 15 people, she talked with everyone and kept us all together. Come hungry to the tour as there is a lot of great food!!
We were sent an email 45 minutes before the tour was cancelled. As we were already walking to the start, we never saw it. Waited 15 minutes, called and texted and then found this out. Very disappointed!
Monica is a great guide. Very interesting and informative tour. It's like a time travel - you go 500 years back in history.
October 31, 2019: Halloween in Venice! First, this is not Jewish food being served, but believe it is all kosher. It is set in the Jewish Quarter, which was interesting to explore. Our guide, Silvia, was wonderful! We enjoyed her narrative during the tour, it was also very instructive and interesting. A great job well done. Thank you again Sylvia! It was full of wonderful gastronomic food. There was plenty to eat, including a choice of a FULL dinner serving of a pasta dish, lasagna or spaghetti with clams. The food was delicious and trying out things we had never tried before. p.s. Halloween in Venice was fun & seeing all the youngsters in costume. The shops gave out treats.
The tour was a very small group. We made six different stops. The food choices were excellent and there was more than ample food and drinks. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our guide, Alice, was FANTASTIC. This was one of the best tours we have ever taken. She showed us around the Jewish quarter, carefully selecting an excellent variety of restaurants and bars to show us the local cuisine. She was also incredibly accommodating of my food needs which was much appreciated (do not eat certain foods). Alice has a true passion for sharing the love of her city with visitors. We highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Venice looking for something off the beaten path to feel like they are getting a more authentic taste of Venice, away from the crowds. While this is not a Jewish tour, the first restaurant we ate at with Alice was Gam Gam ( a kosher restaurant) and she did an excellent job explaining the history of the Jewish people in Venice, while also sharing general Venetian history.
This was a wonderful tour with interesting information and great food. It was a highlight of our experience in Venice. The tour guide was great- very knowledgeable and engaging.
We did this tour the same day we arrived in Venice and it was a great way to explore and get to know your way around with a local! Monica was so knowledge and full of interesting facts, not only of the sites we saw on the tour but of Venice and the rest of Italy too! She also has a great sense of humor, the group was laughing the whole time - it was so much fun! The traditional food and drinks we had was really good, and we did not go home hungry (it was always a full portion or a full glass - no half measures!) It really was a fantastic tour! Monica was so cool - the day after the tour we sent her a message on recommendations on a good restaurant, she responded straight away and sent us to a small local place, which was hands down the best food we ate in Venice! Thank you for a great tour!
We learned a lot about the history of the Jewish ghetto from our friendly and knowledgeable guide. The food (which is not Jewish/kosher food) was representative of venice and delicious.
We loved this tour! We learned about the role of Jews in Venetian history, visited historic sites, and ate at 6 different sites. The food improved by each stop, w/gelato, the last stop, the best we've ever had. The guide Sylvia was engaging and knowledgeable, very charming.
Elissa was superb guide. She shared understanding of history, culture, and love of Venice while treating each member with interest and being that wonderful “Auntie” who hosts you into new tastes and flavors. Great couple or in my case 5 family “date nite”
We LOVED this tour ! One of our best experiences during our week in Venice ! Alicia, our guide, was fantastic. She chooses the food and wine stops herself, knows every owner and tastes everything! So of course everything was delicious ! Many stops, good variety and quantity. This food/whine tour is combined with a guided walking tour of the Canareggio Sestiere. We learned about the history the sestiere and the people who lived there. Alicia is so knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and lively. Alicia also showed us how, nowadays, Canareggio is one of the most authentic parts of the town. The sestiere is outside the beaten path. A lot of Venetians live there. The friendly atmosphere, the children playing in the "campos", the restaurants and bars crowded with locals at night... Just writing about it makes me dream of going back!..
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the food tasting tour. The guide enthusiastically showed us a part of Venice that we would not have seen otherwise and the different types of food were outstanding. We loved trying the ink spaghetti and spritz. My only criticism is that the title should be reversed as it implies that there will be more Jewish food than there is. In reality, the tour is of a particular area of Venice, which also includes the old Jewish ghetto. I highly recommend this tour!
We had visited the ghetto before but were gifted this trip by our kids - who know like these kind of interactions. We were delighted to see that it was just my wife and I who had booked that afternoon - and we were guided by Monica - with a local friend of hers in tow. She was a delight. We learned so much more that just the history of the ghetto and the tour extended in a much longer stroll through Cannaregio with Monica readily keeping us informed and engaged with the local history and culture. The gelato tasting was excellent but as we didn't want to spoil our supper we limited ourselves to only a (generous) scoop each - despite Monica's imploring us to have a whole lot more! Very much recommend this to you.
professional company. always got a response thru email and text. our tour leader was very informative, friendly and engaging. the food stops were very pleasent. will most definitely go again.
My wife and I booked this tour to see some of the more local sights off the beaten path. We were not disappointed. We were pleasantly surprised when we showed up for the tour and it was just us and Alice. The food and restaurant choices Alice made were excellent. You can tell she has a passion for food and also the City of Venice. We actually saw Alice the next two days out and about. It was nice that she remembered us. You can tell she enjoys her job and makes it very personal.
La guía Silvia muy muy simpática , explicó todo con mucha dulzura en los temas duros del guetto y muy graciosa en otros. La comida abundante y el vino también. Una zona muy diferente de Venecia que hay que conocer
Some boring tour with a lot of attention to Jewish ghetto. Didn't really have any added value. Food reasonably friendly but not good value for money. Ham and melon how original... main course a quick anti pasta bite with little allure. The guide was unable to make anything colorful out of it. Although She had a historical background She was unable to bring the tour captivating . far too expensive so for what it is
