This was certainly a highlight of the Venice portion of the trip with my granddaughter. Lorenzo is a great cook and excellent in instruction. We made fresh pasta, all the sauces and each course from scratch. Six people in class. Great conversations and everyone participates. Final meal of the class was actually the best meal of the trip. I highly recommend this experience.

Itinerary
Explore the lively Rialto Market, one of Venice’s most iconic food destinations. Wander among its stalls, discover local specialties and seasonal ingredients, and learn how fresh fish and vegetables inspire traditional Venetian cuisine. This is more than a market visit: it’s an opportunity to experience the city’s food culture through the eyes of someone who knows it best. As you explore, your chef will select fresh fish or seasonal vegetables for your cooking class, depending on availability. Then, leave the bustle of the market behind and head to the Cannaregio district, where a welcoming home kitchen awaits. Here, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on cooking experience that goes beyond making pasta. Learn to prepare fresh handmade pasta from scratch, discover the secrets of traditional tiramisu, and create a seasonal second course. Depending on the ingredients available, this may be a fish dish, vegetable parmigiana or risotto, bringing the flavours of the market directly to your table. Once everything is ready, sit down to enjoy the meal you’ve prepared, accompanied by wine, music and friendly conversation.

As a family, we have been doing cooking classes in each city we visit and we all agreed this was the best meal of them all! It was nice to walk the fish and produce markets…they were wonderful!
This was our best tour while in Italy. Our guide, Lorenzo, took us through the Rialto Market explaining the fish, meats, and produce a well as providing a background of the history and culture of the area. He asked if our group about any did issues prior to buying produce for our meal. We had a lovely time making the food and learned a lot. Lorenzo was very impressive in the kitchen. We made seven different items that we prepared and the meal was amazing! We highly recommend!!
A nice Rialto Market tour and a gorgeous cooking class with Sebastiano. It was a pleasure! A must DO in Venice. We absolutely recommend.
We had a lovely day, first walking through the market, then going to the operator's home and helping him cook fish, pasta and tiramisu. He was kind and engaging and patient and we had a wonderful day in his company. Highly recommended. I will certainly be using the techniques I learned today to cook when I get home. He even answered questions about other dishes from what was on the menu.
We enjoyed our morning walking through the market with Lorenzo. We prepared fish and vegetables from the market and made fresh pasta from scratch. After preparing our meal we had a lovely lunch together and spent time just visiting in Lorenzo’s kitchen. An all-together memorable day!
This is a hands on activity. You’ll learn a lot and have recipes that you can take home and use to impress your friends and family.
Fantastic tour of the market - Lorenzo was a great host & chef, risotto was amazing! Recommend to anyone who loves to cook & eat Italian food.
Such a great tour! Fun to stroll the market and basically decide our menu. Wonderful homemade food that we actually made!
Rosalina was fabulous. What a wonderful way to spend a morning! Nothing like picking out a fresh fish and cooing it. We made pasta with semolina. Simple but delicious.
Rosanna was a wonderful tour guide of the Rialto Market and a terrific instructor for the hands-on cooking class. The pasta and tiramisu were fun to make and delicious to eat. All of the participants worked well together and had a very enjoyable time!
Our tour guide/chef was wonderful . She gave us an insiders and locals look at the market. The walk to the kitchen was enjoyable and the food we cooked was delicious. I never made pasta before but her instruction was clear and helped us make a delicious lunch!
Lorenzo was an absolute joy and the group had a really lovely time learning how to make ravioli, artichoke hearts and fish and tiramisu. The tour of the market was great but also sad to see how this livlihood has diminished over the years. I did end up buying some regional favorites. We had a great time! Everyone should take a cooking class with Lorenzo!
Amazing tour going to the market. Wonderful to cook with chef Lorenzo. We made a sea bream, pesto pasta, and tiramisu
Friendly , informative . We had loads of fun, met a nice couple from california. Food was good, wine was good. Market was with freah good vegetables
Making the pasta! It was one of the best we’ve ever had! We had a lot of fun making pasta from scratch, which we have never done before she never done! Eating it was even better!
This was an amazing experience! Our host and chef, Rosanna, met us by the Rialto Market on a busy Saturday morning. After touring the beautiful selections of seafood, meat and vegetables and completing our shopping, we had a very long 30 minute walk to the cooking studio. We had unlimited wine and water as we were preparing the meal and Rosanna was an excellent teacher. We prepared homemade red sauce with eggplant, baby artichokes, asparagus, homemade pasta, sea beam filets in parchment, tomato salad and individual tiramisu. The class and meal was much longer than advertised so allow at least five hours total. There were six of us in the highly interactive class and it was so much fun. The meal and company were amazing. I highly recommend this tour. It was so worth the money and our time. Just be prepared for lots of walking.
Lorenzo was very nice - our group prepared a wonderful lunch in his well designed kitchen. The tour was advertised for 3 hours but was 5. Hours. We walked 40 mins to meet at the starting point - which was the Rialto market. Monday fish and local farmers market are closed. I would suggest eliminating this from tour. The group walked another 30 to get to location of class and plenty of fresh vegetables and butcher shop near lunch location - not necessary to meet at Rialto market and made for longer day. Lorenzo is very accommodating - lunch was delicious and hopefully I learned a few new things! Thank you for a very nice day!
An absolutely wonderful experience that we would do again if we come back to Venice. We were met and taken to the Rialto fresh markets and then on to do some Italian cooking. We made lots of fresh Italian inspired dishes, being shown different methods of cooking and preparing the ingredients. We cooked some starters, a main course and a dessert and then sat down to eat it all with a glass of wine. The hosts were absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable and very friendly and created a lovely atmosphere. An experience we will never forget and can’t recommend highly enough.
This experience was my favorite in Venice! Chef Lorenzo 👨🍳 made you feel very comfortable in his kitchen and taught us to make homemade pasta and tiramisu♡ Make sure you have google maps on your phone and give a little extra time for getting lost in the maze of Venice(part of the experience) ♡ We left so full and so proud of our creations!
This was amazing! Lorenzo was charming, informative, fun and an excellent teacher. Had a wonderful time And the food was some of the best I had during my time in Venice. Highly recommend!
What a great way to see the market and cook with a restaurant chef. We got to help pick the menu and learned how to make many new dishes. We also enjoyed that it was a small group and got to know the host and fellow attendees. A must do if you are in Venice!
Rosa is a true jewel! Her home is truly lovely and welcoming. We actually learned to make the dishes and had so much fun while we cooked and ate our way through the day. The food was absolutely spectacular- and Rosa could not have been sweeter. We can’t wait to go back and visit her. Thank you Rosa! Highly recommend this to everyone that likes to cook and eat amazingly ng food.
This was an exceptional experience. Lorenzo took us first on a tour of the Rialto Market where he sells seafood and vegetables for our creative cooking. Then we walked to Lorenzo’s apartment, where he made as welcome, and showed us how to cook tagliatelle pasta two shrimp dishes and two kinds of baked salmon. Let’s not forget Tiramisu for dessert!
Lorenzo was great and very knowledgeable! It was a hilight of my trip with my mother. Highly recommend!
Lorenzo met us at Rialto Market. As we walked through the market, Lorenzo shared great information about where the different types of fish, meats and produce came from. He asked our likes/dislikes as he shopped for the ingredients for the meal we were going to prepared. He adjusted the menu using the information he gathered from us and the availability of ingredients. We then walked through Venice to Lorenzo’s flat where we enjoyed wine from a local winery as we prepared fresh pastas with Bolognese we all helped make, fresh fish, tiramisu and homemade sorbet made from fresh peaches from the market. We then sat down to enjoy a wonderful meal we all helped to create. Lorenzo was a gracious host and shared a wealth of knowledge. We highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting to submerse themselves in the culture and cuisine of Venezia!!
The Chef is lovely. This was an awesome experience. The class was well worth it and I would recommend to anyone wanting to do something fun and delicious.
We had a fantastic cooking session with Lorenzo, who had a varied and delicious menu for us. It was definitely plentiful. We made focaccia from scratch, as well as spinach and ricotta ravioli. We also had a captées salad, asparagus, carpaccio, artichokes… and it was topped off with a tiramisu. Most items where purchased fresh from Rialto that morning. Please note there is no market on a Sunday and the fish market is closed on a Monday so this will affect your menu. I thought maybe for the ricotta and mozzarella it could have been bought fresh from the market shops and not a supermarket. It was brilliant to learn how to make simple food which tasted so nice. My only comment would be there was not really a wine tasting, but wine to drink. I thought this was slightly misleading but probably a language translation issue. For the price being more than others I was expecting it… however, we had a great time and I would not only recommend but I would also do it again. Many thanks to the Chef and our fun group!
Lorenzo was wonderful ,patient with the children in our group and with questions from us adults,a gracious host and we really got a chance to get to know new people while laughing and enjoying a new skill
We had a great day with Lorenzo, our favorite Venice experience! Easy to connect at meeting point, informative tour of fish market and fresh produce market. 25 minute walk to his kitchen, where our family of 5 and another couple prepared a feast with his instruction. Fococcia, fresh fish, spinach and ricotta ravioli with fresh pasta, stuffed peppers, capreses, tiramasu. Very comfortable and casual, ple ty of wine and soft drinks, everyone had a hand in cooking. Lorenzo was sensitive to our nut allergy and provided alternative for one with fish sensitivity. Fantastic experience not to miss!
We had such a fantastic time with our family, new friends and our chef Lorenzo. The market became easier to shop and his patience, skills and affability made for a great time by all! My family of late teens and early twenties approached the experience with a little trepidation but were soon enjoying the company of wonderful new friends and the easy atmosphere of the cooking studio!
We had a superb time !! Looking around the markets at the gorgeous vegetables and fabulous variety of seafood. We then prepared THE most delicious food we have so far tasted in Venice. Enjoyed local wines that complemented our culinary delights! Antipasti: deep fried Cheese balls . So simple to make but so delicious! Mixed salad with simple dressing. Pea Risotto, sea Bream cooked in a paper envelope with Asparagus, lemon, olives, garlic, olive oil. ( other thing’s available) and our desert was Strawberry’s and a mascarpone mixture. Gorgeous!! If you want to maki it… sign up !!
We had a wonderful time with Fabio. The cooking class and tour were great. He was patient and informative. The meal we made together was really good. We loved it that everyone got to participate. Our only complaint was that there was a lot of walking and there was no mention of that in the event description.
Very fun and informative. I learned things that I will be able to take with me and cook at home. It was really interesting to visit the market and buy and cook food like a local!
Very good tour guide/cooking instructor. 10 guests - which was a good size. Toured the market and bought food to cook. Every one had a chance to participate. Food was delicious!
This was a great cooking experience! Started with a tour of the incredible Venice markets and then back to the kitchen to prepare an amazing meal. Lorenzo is a fantastic and knowledgeable guide and host. This is a must do if you have time in Venice.
We had an excellent time! A great way to see more of Venice. We left inspired to make our own pasta and focaccia. Lorenzo made it all seem easy. Highly recommend doing this tour.
This was an amazing amazing experience. Lorenzo was great. We had the most immersive experience. Shopping locally for our food, preparing it all in his stunning home kitchen. And then we enjoyed all of our hand prepared courses. Absolutely a must do if you are looking for a cooking class. Family, couple, and individually friendly. We had the best time. 10/10
Rosa was an absolute joy! She made us feel right at home, but still taught us about Italian cuisine.
When else in your life would you gave the chance to wash and chop up a squid and pop its black ink sack into a pan aromatic with olive oil and garlic? Then make pasta from scratch and turn it into tortellini? With Lorenzo’s expert direction you can turn your trip to Venice into a once in a lifetime experience!
Fabulous experience! Would do it again 100%! Lovely experience w Lorenzo cooking and at the market. We made local dishes with food we picked out at the market.
We really enjoyed our cooking experience. Lorenzo truly made the day special! He was low-key, but very funny and hospitable! We had so much food to eat and the meal was delicious. Absolutely recommend!
Lorenzo was amazing! We had the best time at the market and then learning to cook the items. Highly recommend this tour for a true authentic experience!
The cooking class was so much fun with a very relaxed atmosphere. Lorenzo was amazing and knowledgeable and showed us around the Rialto market and gave some great tips on how to pick out fresh seafood. That being said, be ready for a trek from the market to his home where the cooking class takes place. It IS worth it, but still a good bit of info to have. The tiramisu was the BEST we've had in Italy! I've actually made homemade pasta for my family since coming home...it was delicious! Thanks Lorenzo!
Lorenzo was awesome. Learned to cook pasta, tiramisu, artichokes and fish in parchment. Delish. Wine was exceptionally good. Would recommend to anyone that wants a great learning experience.
We had such a fun time with Venice native, Lorenzo learning about Venice’s local produce and food. We prepared a fabulous lunch - fresh pasta, delectable sauce, homemade focaccia that was the best ever, salad, and scrumptious tiramisu. We really enjoyed our time discussing the history of Venice as well as current day trends . Lorenzo is a gem. He certainly knows his way around a kitchen- providing invaluable cooking tips.Fortunately our group of 4 were quite compatible and a fun day was had by all. The only disappointment was that on mondays the fish market was closed and we would have loved to have seen that. Great experience!
Excellent experience learning to cook a traditional Italian dish from an authentic local chef. Small class size allowed everyone to be involved in cooking with a family style meal afterwards. Met other interesting travelers, drank good wine, and ate great food! Perfect class for those who not only love eating and drinking, but cooking as well!
Our guide, Chef Lorenzo, met us at the pre-designated spot and took us on a walking tour of the Rialto Market, pointing out the fresh local fish and produce of the region. After the tour, he went back to the marketplace and purchased the ingredients we would use for the class. We walked to his home where he had a good-size kitchen and a nice set up for the six of us participating. He talked to us about our meal and demonstrated the steps before we took over making our own dishes. We then got to sit down and enjoy the meal we had created and enjoy some local wine. Hands-on cooking classes are a lot of fun and we enjoyed the day very much.
We had a relaxed and knowledgable chef, Lorenzo who guided our small group of cooks through Venetian cooking using the freshest ingredients.
We had an amazing time on this tour and class. Interesting perspective on the Venice market with lots of local flavor. Cooking class with fresh ingredients was delicious and educational. Simple, fresh ingredients lent amazing food and fun. Lorenzo was a lovely host, guide and instructor. We can’t recommend this experience enough.
