This is an amazing experience that transports you back in time. You feel as if you are hearing the music at the time it was written. The only thing missing is I wish I was wearing a period costume. T'his is a must see if you are in Venice.

This is an excellent way to experience Opera up close and personal. The setting, the costumes and the live music will enthrall you as you sit close by in an ancient building, while these talented musicians and singers help you slip into another world as they tell the story from room to room. Highly recommend you do this!
Finding the Palazzo was a challenge but very worthwhile. The performance was excellent and the atmosphere quite amazing. I thoroughly recommend.
OK for people who have not yet experienced a true opera performance (Arena de Verona, Met, or even a smaller opera house in Europe) with full orchestra. However, it must be emphasized that for the Palazzo "orchestra", composed of a piano, violin and cello players, they did a very good musical job. Violetta and Alfredo delivered a good performance. The Palazzo requires some maintenance and regaring the price, the free champaign glass during the first intermission may sweeten to cost of the performance.
Hard to compare the Palazzo performance with same La Traviate at Arena di Verona, NY Met, or opera theaters. In spite of all above, the orchestra at Palazzo consisted of 3 instruments - piano, violin and cello which delivered a melodious music well above expectations. Alfredo and Violetta voices were good but the Palazzo needs better maintenance and switching on air conditioning in the full halls. The overall musical experience was OK while the price of tickets was relative high and even the glass of inexpensive champaign, at first intermission, hardy justifying the cost. However, without doubt, the 3 musicians, piano, violin and cello as well as the 3 singers - Violetta, Alfredo and Alfredo father deserved nice compensations. One who is for first time at a beautiful opera, would fall in love with La Traviata for Verdi's music.
Exceptional! We enjoyed this immensely. Only critique would be it was difficult to find. We hope to attend another performance in the future.
My first opera and my husband and I enjoyed it incredibly. The vocalists were amazing. The performance was so good I could follow the story even though I didn't speak Italian.
Absolutely incredible! Such a personal touch being literally in the middle of an opera. My wife and I were sang to while the artist held our hands, it was magical.
This opera was alot of fun and a bit unusual. We saw the Barber of Seville in an old Venetian palace. It started in one room. Then intermission with a glass of prosecco, juice or water. We moved to a 2nd room. The last act was in a 3rd room. It was funny, the actors and musicians were amazing, and they interacted with the audience. It's worth the money.
Excellent experience and well worth the cost. As usual, the directions to the location could be better and definitely don’t follow Google Maps for this as it will put you in the wrong place. The singing and musicianship were superb and the whole event was one of the highlights of our trip to Venice. Highly recommended
Pleasant evening; touristic, but you’re in Venice. Everything there is touristic to some degree.
This is second time we have gone to this venue. The quality of the talent is top notch. Even though we don’t speak Italian it’s still magical. I do suggest reading a synopsis of the opera you are seeing. Our opera was 4 acts, our first one was 3 acts. The audience moves from room to room for each act. Depending on the opera, some audience members can select seats virtually on top of the actors. If you want the best seats be prepared to exit one room into the next quickly. Be prepared to be entertained for 90-120 minutes
The musicians and performers are outstanding. This is an amazing presentation in a beautiful setting.
What a fabulous experience. This was my very first opera. A small intimate group and setting added to the atmosphere. We moved between rooms to enjoy the different acts. One minor criticism is that there was too little time to enjoy the glass of prosecco and use the 'one' bathroom. This did not, however, detract from the whole experience. Would highly recommend.
This Traveling opera and Vivaldis music are the two best experiences in Venice at night! Set in 14 th century palazzo’s with performers in period costumes this is how opera and music was meant to be experienced. Be sure to end you evening in a street side cafe in St Mark Square sipping cocktails or wine. Romance at its best!
Must arrive early to get a seat with decent view. Beautiful location. Must know the opera well as no subtitles. Excellent singers and musicians.
Singers were well trained but not nuanced. Musicians were excellent. Palazzo venue and complimentary prosecco at intermission were cool.
First time at the Opera for me and I didn’t fully understand it because I don’t speak Italian but i thought it was pretty amazing. The performance is within feet of you and the acoustics are quite good. At intermission I googled the overview of the storyline and it helped my wife and I understand what was going on.
Beautiful unique opera. Amazing singers. Chairs could be more comfortable though.
A 5-10 minute walk from St. Marco's Square. Very entertaining opera, well done, excellent vocals, beautiful old home. Loved the prosecco as well.
It was breathtaking. The candle light, the authentic decor, the opera sound, the ambiance and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. There was five of us and we all had goosebumps. Would highly recommend.
It was a really warm evening when I went and the seating is quite intimate, do ensure you bring water
What a wonderful experience! Such a unique and intimate way to enjoy opera — you genuinely feel part of the performance. Amazing singers, outstanding musicians and an extraordinary setting. A true hidden gem in Venice. Absolutely unforgettable and highly recommended!
I don't want to say too much and give away how wonderful this is, but even if you don't think you like opera, you will love this show! It's funny and completely entertaining! Beautiful surroundings. Chairs are a bit less desirable, but soon you'll be up walking around and will forget about that.
Intimate, exceptional and worth every penny. Such a treat. So glad that I did it. Although I couldn’t find the building so I missed the first part. Plan your route in plenty of time.
This a very unique and very close up way to experience a live opera performance. It takes place inside a large (abandoned hotel ?). The 3 acts move to different rooms allowing guests to wander to each room. Although the seats weren’t so comfortable, it was still an enjoyable experience
Absolutely wonderful. Talented performers. Especially Rigoletta! The setting was exactly right. Beautiful all around.
Viator prefilled the wrong address into my calendar. We walked 15 minutes in the wrong diction toward Musica a Palazzo Castello 5601, Venice, IT, 30122 THIS IS THE WRONG ADDRESS!!! By the time we corrected, we arrived 10 minutes late and missed the first act. I’m not sure what this address is, maybe the office. But we are hot and late and annoyed. Uhg Check that you are headed to the right address. And Viator please fix this issue.
Where the Magic Truly Lives A few days after attending La Traviata, I found myself facing an unusual dilemma. Should I return to Musica a Palazzo for Rigoletto, knowing that the venue, the format and the movement through the three rooms would remain largely the same? Even the team honestly suggested that the novelty of the setting might naturally be less pronounced on a second visit. I lowered my expectations accordingly. Within minutes, I realized how completely mistaken my assumption had been. What changed was not my appreciation of the palazzo, but my understanding of what truly makes this experience extraordinary. During my first visit, the architecture naturally captured much of my attention. The historic rooms, the elegant interiors and the movement from one act to another were wonderfully original. Returning for Rigoletto, however, the novelty of the venue faded into the background, allowing something far more important to emerge with complete clarity. It is not the palace that continually renews the performance. It is the artists. The same rooms became entirely different worlds because different singers, different instrumentalists and a completely different opera transformed the emotional atmosphere from beginning to end. I found myself discovering spaces that I already knew, yet experiencing them as though I had never entered them before. That was one of the most exhilarating artistic discoveries of my stay in Venice. If La Traviata possesses elegance and emotional tenderness, Rigoletto brings an altogether different dramatic energy. The psychological tension never relaxes. Several moments, particularly those in which all four singers performed together while accompanied by the three instrumentalists only a few metres from the audience, created an intensity unlike anything I have experienced in a conventional opera house. The intimacy magnified every glance, every silence and every musical phrase. The evening was enriched once again by conversations during the intervals. I spoke with a university student studying Environmental Humanities, then with a German mother and daughter, both violinists, who had returned after falling in love with this production the previous year. Later I met another German couple who had also chosen to come back after an earlier visit. Those encounters were unexpectedly meaningful. One returning visitor may simply reflect personal taste. Meeting several independent returning visitors revealed something more significant: this production rewards a second encounter because the experience genuinely becomes different. My first visit convinced me that Musica a Palazzo had created one of the most original ways of presenting opera. My second visit taught me something even more profound. The palace provides the setting, but it is the collective artistry of the singers and instrumentalists that recreates that world anew every evening. The architecture remains the same; the human imagination transforms it into something fresh, living and unforgettable. Few performances have changed not only my expectations, but my understanding of what makes live theatre truly alive. This was one of them.
Returned to Venice with friends and arranged to view Barber of Seville with them. Blown away by how intimate and fantastic the performance was, staff were incredible and cannot fault the event! Brilliant!
We love this show!! Very nice setting being in the room and the performers are next to you ! This a must see show!
Go. Just go. I’ve never seen an opera but I figured we were in Venice, so. We saw the Barber of Seville and when I say I nearly fell off my chair laughing I am not exaggerating. The story is simple, the plot timeless, but the interpretation was delightful! Set in a beautiful Venetian Palazzo with world class musicians, charming costumes and sets, and astounding vocal and acting performances by the 5 characters this opera was a sitcom told in Italian music. It was magical. The singers were clearly familiar with the music in the best way, and being so close, and at times within the show, the audience were whisked away to a bygone era. You can purchase a program for €5 and it is worth it if you do not speak Italian, but even if you do it has information about the venue and the actors making it worth the price. I can’t describe how much we enjoyed the evening. Do follow the directions emailed to you or you may never find the place. And check your email a few days before the show for a confirmation of attendance or they may give away your seats. Overall amazing, no notes. And they even gave us a glass of prosecco at intermezzo
La Traviata Reimagined I arrived with very high expectations. Having attended outstanding opera productions in several countries, including unforgettable performances in Norway, Austria and the Czech Republic, I did not expect an intimate production inside a Venetian palazzo to surpass those experiences. I was delighted to discover that I was wrong. What makes La Traviata at Musica a Palazzo so remarkable is not simply the quality of the music, but the completeness of its artistic vision. The palazzo is not merely a venue; it becomes part of the drama itself. Rather than sitting at a distance from the stage, you are welcomed into an elegant historic home where architecture, atmosphere and music merge into a single experience. Throughout the evening, I often felt less like a spectator than a guest invited into another century. The movement through three different rooms is a brilliant artistic decision. Each act unfolds in a space whose architecture, decoration and lighting subtly reinforce the emotional landscape of the story. The first room radiates the elegance and excitement of Violetta’s world, inviting the audience to become participants in her salon rather than passive observers. The second room deepens the emotional and dramatic intensity of the opera, while the final room, with its restrained atmosphere and delicate lighting, mirrors the quiet fragility of the ending with remarkable sensitivity. The transitions are never gimmicks; they are storytelling through space. Equally memorable was the artistry of the performers. The singers and instrumentalists displayed exceptional technical mastery, but what impressed me even more was the joy they clearly found in performing together. Their smiles, eye contact and subtle interactions revealed genuine artistic trust and friendship. Their chemistry became part of the performance itself, giving the entire evening an authenticity that cannot be rehearsed into existence. Another unexpected pleasure was the audience. During the intervals I spoke with opera lovers from different parts of the world, and despite our different backgrounds we shared the same curiosity, excitement and admiration. Those conversations became part of the experience itself, reminding me that great art naturally creates connections between strangers. Musica a Palazzo offers something that even the grandest traditional opera houses cannot provide. It transforms opera from a performance that you watch into a world that you temporarily inhabit. For me, this was not simply an evening at the opera. It was one of the most original, immersive and unforgettable artistic experiences I have had anywhere, and certainly one of the highlights of my time in Venice.
We had a great time. It was our first Opera and really enjoyed it! We do not recommend you bring small children. There was a child around the age of 5 that was completely restless and ruined the experience for others. We didn’t mind him, but felt terrible for his mom. The other patrons were not very kind to her and it made my husband and I feel so bad.
This was the 1st time my wife and I had gone any type Opera play or show and it was amazing! I would highly recommend this tour!
Wonderful event! The actors / musicians performed in separate rooms where they performed right in front of the audience making it seem as though we were part of the act. A very engaging and unique experience! A Venice Opera ! Excellent performance!! Thank you viator for making this event possible!
This was our second visit in a couple of years. Not normally a fan of opera, but I really like this. I don’t want to give too much away, but it is a truly immersive experience.
Wonderful production! Fabulously funny with lots of audience involvement. And the musicians were outstanding!
Fantastic palace, built in 1500, privately owned on the Grand Canal. My grandson(17) loved his first opera here.
It was nice to experience an opera in Venice. We were just so tired and it was towards the end of the evening so did not get to appreciate it and follow it. Definitely buy the program so you can follow it. Wish it was a bit earlier in the evening
A lovely experience! The singers were wonderful! Moving from room to room was so exciting!! The house was just beautiful!! Having an intermission with a drink was great!!! This was a night to remember!!
Great opera performance. Loved the performance
We absolutely loved the walking opera experience. It was beautifully organized, engaging, and truly unique. The combination of music, storytelling, and the different locations created a magical atmosphere. Thank you for such a memorable and inspiring experience!
An absolutely unforgettable performance of La Traviata by the Traveling Opera of Venice at Musica a Palazzo. I loved everything about the evening—the beautiful interior of the palazzo, the intimate atmosphere, and the extraordinary voices of the singers. The unique setting made the experience feel personal and immersive, allowing the audience to connect deeply with the music and the story. Everyone involved in the production contributed to creating a true work of art. The performers, musicians, and staff demonstrated remarkable talent, passion, and professionalism. Their dedication transformed the evening into something truly special and memorable. If you are visiting Venice and love opera, this is an experience not to be missed. A perfect blend of music, history, emotion, and artistry. Highly recommended!
Beautiful concert! Get there a bit early for the best seats but you'll be able to hear the music anywhere. The performance was outstanding, truly talented musicians. Highly recommend!
A breath taking experience, seeing the performance upclose with no microphones made it so intimate. I went with my girlfriend for her birthday and s We loved every second!
This was such a cool experience in a beautiful old palazzo. The performers were truly incredible and it was such a unique experience for our first night in Venice. Definitely recommend
It was a wonderful show. It was a little warm in the venue so be prepared for that. It was totally worth it!
A really fun and intimate experience! We loved seeing each act in different rooms. Get there early to get closer seats. But if you don’t you can always try to be first to enter the rooms for the subsequent acts. We thoroughly enjoyed this immersive experience!
Beautiful Palazzo as a setting. Excellent acting and singing. A truly wonderful performance and we'll worth the price.
