Ticket collection was easy but from there on became a stressful experience, we arrived at 10.00am so did all the other morning flights, if your at the end of the orange route Q expect to wait 1.5-2 hours min as the small boat holds 30-40 max going every 30min and 1 hour journey. On the return 4pm we went to the first stop on route map so to get on and thank goodness we did as the boat didn’t stop at 2 stops leaving people stranded waiting for the next boat 30min later. Seemed very disorganised and chaotic. Bus service much better and cheaper. For stress free use bus or book a private boat
I have to admit they are cheap and it’s a good way to get to the airport. However, on the way to and from the airport I’ve never met a more ruder person in my life. They just scream at you, hey, luggage over there, take it with you, sit down… I thought it was the driver to Venice but the driver back to airport was another rude person. Venice strives off tourism and what would this city do without tourists??? Treat them better please. Talk to us nicer. We are all lost and confused and having the driver talking to you crazy is not going to help. I honestly wanted to grab both of them by the neck…. So sad when we bring tourism to you….
The water buses in Venice were fantastic! They were quick, easy to use, and came very frequently, so we never had to wait long to get one. A really convenient and stress-free way to get around Venice. Highly recommend!
Quick mode of transport to outer areas of Venice. As there are no buses or taxis on land the water taxi can take you closer than a bus service.
It was easy! Quite a walk to the docks for the water taxis but well marked. Ticket office was obvious & they exchanged our voucher for tickets with no problem. We weren’t sure which line to stand in but were quickly directed after we asked. The ride was beautiful & relaxing. We were one of the last stops but the info we had received on timing was accurate.
Best way to get from airport to Venice quickly and economically. The signs at airport are clearly marked. You can buy online, but still must validate at their office: one of which is visible at exit from terminal. Private taxi is much more expensive.
A fantastic apartment located in a great location with a fabulous hostess. Always ready to help in any requests.
The signage at the airport was clear and it didn’t take long to find where to meet up with the Allaguna Water Taxi. Staff was very helpful loading luggage. The trip to our destination was a lot of fun.
Purchased tickets from Venice to Marco Polo airport. Tickets didn’t scan and driver never showed up. Had to guy bus tickets and run with our luggage to catch the airport bus. Don’t waste your time with this service, especially when you have an early departure like we did.
There was not much help getting info on this. I would recommend buying for the Vapretto either on another site or in person. This was very hard to navigate and we never ended up using the taxi due to false direction given by the workers. Would not recommend.
Arriving in the Marco Polo Airport, there were plenty of signs directing us to where we would find the Vaporetto/Alilaguna water transportation. The line was long but it moved quickly. The weather was beautiful and the ride was lovely.
We booked the Alilaguna water taxi to take us from the airport to the area we were staying in Venice (by Piazza San Marco). My partner had researched it extensively before we arrived and was pretty sure we got off at their stop Giardinetti stop. However when he tried to confirm on the taxi where we should get off they said to get off at the third stop Ospedale so we did. That started the almost impossible trek to our hotel which was a very very long ways away by Piazzaz San Marco. We hauled our suitcases up and down so many bridge stairs and went down countless "back alleys". It was largely a very quiet area of Venice so really nobody to ask at first. We are 70 and 71 years old but very able bodied so we managed until our phones died roughly an hour after our journey started. By the time our phones died we were in the busier part of Venice and found a restaurant to rest, eat and recharge our phone. It was a very bad start to our Venice journey. Maybe we made a rookie mistake by not clarifying at the ticket office where to get off so my caution to anyone travelling with Alilaguna is to ensure you know the closest stop to your hotel before boarding the water taxi.
We had booked tickets on line, but unfortunately the water taxi didn't go all the way to our hotel, had asked at the ticket desk & getting on the taxi & all was good. About an hour into trip taxi crew told us not going any further, we had to get off & change to another route which took another 30mins.
Returned our rental car at Marco Polo airport, walked about 10 minutes to the boat dock, paid €18 per person and boarded the ferry/taxi immediately for Venice, and the employees loaded and then offloaded our luggage. We disembarked at the second stop and boat ride was about 20 minutes. It was easy, convenient and reasonably priced.
The ride took just over an hour but we used it as an opportunity to get lay of the land and took so many photos!
The employees are condescending jerks. You ask a question and they answer you like you're an idiot. Unfortunately I have a round trip with them but under no circumstances anyone should use them.
Awful assistance water bus Dirty and Hard ti get off left us too far from our hotel Venezians drivers are very rude
Bought tickets for a specific date and time to rode from Venice to Marco Polo Airport for a flight. Thank goodness we opted for an earlier than we needed (or so we thought) boat. When the boat arrived at our specified time, they pulled up briefly to say the boat was full and another had been called. Fifteen minutes later the second boat pulled up; it too was full. Passengers at our stop were starting to panic. Eventually (30 minutes later) the next scheduled boat pulled up and a very few people managed to muscle their way on, us included, but the majority of passengers (and there were many by this time, building up from two scheduled departure times) were left behind. Operators totally unconcerned. Inexcusable; Alilaguna knows the capacity of their boats and how many tickets they have sold in advance. They were selling at least four times as many tickets as they had actual spaces for. I can’t imagine how many people must miss their flights due to this operation. Highly recommend taking a bus instead.
Friendly and helpful staff made it easy for us as travelers It was nice boat ride even though rained.
Purchasing the water taxi “vouchers” and finding the port was the easiest part. However, when you book through Viator, they don’t provide nearly enough information for you to understand which boat to take and thus which port to get off at. Thank god the receptionist was able to tell my family and I which line to join and which port to get off at.
Was very easy at the Airport to find where to get the water taxi - very well signed. Best way to get to Venice. All of us enjoyed the relaxing trip.
Driver was very rude and unhelpful. For 18 euros it is not worth it. I would recommend the bus. They also stop at every stop even if there’s no one at the stop so it can take over an hour to get to the airport depending on where you get on.
Easy and simple way to get to the airport. We booked a one-way ticket leaving from Venice and heading to Marco Polo Airport. Our pick up stop was the San Stae station, which was convenient and easy to access. The boat was on time. They scan your online ticket (I purchased mine the night before online), and the driver helps you on the boat with your suitcase. They keep all of the luggage on the deck, and require the passengers to sit below in the cabin. It was about a 40 minute ride to the airport. I usually get seasick, but the boat was fast enough that it was fine. Once you arrive at the airport, it is a 10 to 15 minute walk to get to the main security area from the ferry terminal, but it is all covered, or indoors, and was very easy. The boat was very full, and I do wonder what would’ve happened if more people have been trying to get on at the last stop. I don’t know if they would pack people in, which would be very uncomfortable, or if they limit the number of tickets that can be purchased. I would definitely purchase ahead of time just to make sure.
Everything goes smoothly if you read instructions when you buy the ticket via Tripadvisor. This ticket works also fron Venice to the Airport, however, you can change the voucher to ticket only at 2 ticket offices in Venice
Upon arrival at the airport file signs to the water taxi. They leave every 30 minutes for Venice. It's well organized and incredibly inexpensive way to get into the city. We booked a hotel in front of one of the stops to facilitate baggage handling. Great shuttle service.
When getting to the water taxi from baggage clam the water taxi signs are blue but they don't tell you which way to go also there is a bit of a wait for the water taxi but not to long 20mins
Easy to find water bus departure from airport. where just follow signs. Exchanged voucher for ticket at ticket office where you board.
Very enjoyable ride to Venice with awesome employees!!! However please do understand the waterbus almost stop to every stopping point in Venice, but this gives you the opportunity to see beautiful views of Venice!!
Being informed is really important. Though this service was an interesting experience, it is good to know ground transportation is available to Venice from the airport for a reasonable price and is faster.
Got to Venice airport good airport reasonably priced god a ticket at the airport for the water is 16euro one way. Tip Get a two day day rider I visited every wart of Venice by boat good value.
The staff are unfriendly. To make it even worse, the company just sells tickets regardless of their limited capacity. Many people left behind despite having tickets and unfortunately most of them will lose their flights. Don’t recommend at all.
Lovely day for it. Just bear in mind that it will take roughly 70-90 minutes to reach San Marco. Very easy to use just go to the counter and they give you a ticket.
The shuttle service is very efficient. It is a long way from the baggage claim to the dock but they have a people mover to make it easier.
More information needed as a long walk to pick up from airport and then we waited for over an hour. Consider wait times and journey times as we were onboard for over an hour When booking this should all be made obvious then people should expect it.
Very organised and an amazing experience Venice is magical The guys helped with the luggage and assisted people on and off the boat
It's basically a commercial city bus via water from the airport to the island. The price of the ticket was 18 Euro ($21). I was expecting a private water taxi for the 4 of us. You should spell that out in the description, that it's basically a city bus. Manage expectations. We waited 45 min to get on..That's not really an issue, after we figured it out. Luckily it wasn't very hot and there was a breeze. The other issue is I specifically asked 3 people, cashier, ticket taker, and crowning which stop was for the train station, the second stop. The boat didnt stop at the train station and when I queried the coxswain, he said this was a "special" boat, and they didnt stop at the train station. So instead of a 5 min walk, with rolling luggage, on cobblestones/tile, we had a 30 minute trek over 5 bridges. Passengers and crew should call out the taxi stops. I would call it "typical Italian 'don't give a crap' about your problem" attitude by the water taxi coxswain. Not recommended. Pay for a private taxi regardless of the cost, which wasn't that much higher.
I had an excellent experience. If you pay attention to the instructions you will have no problems. Everyone was super polite and helpful. The water buses run about every 25 minutes. I took the red line to the Rialto Bridge stop and my hotel was only a 3 minute walk away.
Very easy to find water bus. You will need to know which line you want, ie: blue, red etc. The ride itself was enjoyable.
The water taxi is fine but if I were to do it again, I would just buy tickets locally. It's cheaper than Viator and you can get options that may be more cost effective depending on which specific islands of Venice you want to visit. Be prepared to wait. Some of the logistics are somewhat disorganized.
Quick & easy process with multiple stop options that make it perfect to get around Venice. Highly recommended!
This was a very convenient way to travel from the airport into Venice city. The ride was smooth and dropped off right near my AirBnB.
Best way to travel from the airport to Venice. The staff were very helpful with getting luggage on and off the boat.
Very organised. Easy getting ticket and on time Regular service to Venice from airport and easy getting in and off
Firstly, this voucher worked as advertised. It is what it says; a round trip ticket on a water taxi. However, it is defiinitely cheaper to buy the ticket directly at the Alilaguna ticket office. Also, and this was my understanding, this is simply a round trip ticket. You can only go from one station to another which in our case was Venice Airport to Venice. You cannot get back on and go to another stop. That requires another ticket. For example, we wanted to go from the airport to Murano, then to Lido and then back to the airport. This is not an “all day” or “hop on hop off” type of ticket. To be clear, it is not advertised as such. It is a round trip ticket. Hopefully you will not misunderstand it as I did. The service is OK. There are few, if any, announcements. You may also wait up to an hour to get on a taxi if the lines are long.
Make sure to give yourself 2 hours before your 2 hour departure at the airport. The waterbus stops at least 6 times around Venice before a stop at Murano. It’s a great way to see the island without a guide but if you’re in a hurry know you need that 2 hours. The meeting point can be a bit confusing but the local taxi folks pointed us in the right direction once in the neighborhood.
Efficient service well run. No hassle exchanging voucher for tickets. Waited a short time for boat. Fab experience
We took the public boat taxi to venice from the airport. It was easy but not clear that what we paid for was not a ticket, we had to pick up tickets at the gate. The boat is fully enclosed, which can be a problem for folks that get motion sickness.
Bought the return tickets on line but it would have been easy to get them at the airport. The boat was on time and took us to Giglio, which was pretty close to our hotel (and way less busy than St Mark Square. Would do this again.
We opted for water taxi to see more of Venice before arriving at our hotel and we weren't disappointed despite rain.
