A Venetian Evening: Wine Tasting And Cicchetti With A Local Guide

Beatrice was a fantastic guide for our Venetian street food tour! As a local, she knew just where to take us for delicious food and wine, sharing her knowledge of the area along the way. I especially love Streaty food tours for their consistently excellent food and knowledgeable guides. Taking a tour near our hotel was an added bonus—we discovered places we could return to later in the trip for a snack or a light bite instead of a full sit-down meal. Beatrice is an absolute joy as a guide. The pace and spacing of each of the tiny locations was perfect. It is worth every cent. She answered all our questions and suggested other restaurants and places to go for true Venetian cuisine. I would book this again.

We had a very enjoyable small group walking food and wine tour. We are vegetarian so this added a wrinkle to the typical appetizers which are fish and meat based, but our guide expertly navigated veggie options for us. The prosecco, wines, and sweet wine were all amazing. We would definitely recommend this tour! Grazie!

We loved the wine and cicchetti with our local guide Giulia! We had a variety of wine and food. Each location was quaint and full of locals. Our guide provided us with explanations of the wine and the food. She went out of her way to find alternate food choices for those of us adverse to some of the seafood. It was a fantastic evening. This tour is a great way to get to know other fellow travelers. We highly recommend this tour!

Wine was plentiful and we were given various types to showcase the flavors of Italy. Food was interesting and will definitely challenge those that are less risky with their palate. We did like the variety, but just wished the stops were a little more spaced out so that we had time to digest.

This was a fun experience going to different little wine spots and getting a fun history lesson about the area and each wine we tried as we went along. Federico was response and helpful, and made it a fun night for our group. He was knowledgeable about the city and even gave us pointers on where to go after the tour ended. Would recommend if you enjoy light refreshments and food in one trip!

Taking a food tour is my favorite way to get to know a new destination. For three hours one evening, our group of six explored several districts under the expert guidance of our local guide, Irene. We tasted a delicious cross section of bites and local wines-no need for dinner after! One host even included an entertaining and colorful history of the region's wine bars. Aside from giving us a great overview of the cicchetti culture of Venice, each of us now had a selection of great wines and restaurants to try again during our stay.

Silvia was amazing and so knowledgeable. We had great food and even better wine and left full and wishing we booked more days in Venice.

Do not miss this locally inspired evening with tastings at taverns. Sip regional wines paired with cicchetti , and along the way, toast to comradery!! Our enthusiastic guide, Irene, was a tremendously informative resource for Italian “foodies”. My favorite dish of the evening was the creamed salt cod.. a delicious Venetian snack over focaccia! Quite an adventurous edible for someone who does not usually like anything creamy .. you will walk away from this flavorful tour with a full stomach and happy heart!

We only had one evening in Venice and this was a perfect way to spend it. Walking and learning and having food and wine at the same time. Fede was an excellent guide and great fun too. In a city as touristy as Venice its great to be shown the less well known and more authentic places to go.

Federico was an excellent tour guide and this whole experience really set the tone for our entire week in Venice. I especially appreciated that we not only had 3-4 places o revisit during our stay but Federico also pointed out several eateries that we did not visit during the tour but he recommended.

Great food and wine tour around the quieter streets of Venice, lead by the very knowledgeable and engaging Frederico. We tried cicchetti which we had been too scared to order, but now there’s no stopping us. We look forward to trying other Streaty tours on our next visit to Italy.

Excellent cichetti (Venetian tapas) and local wine in 4 different venues. All of which was served up by our excellent guide, Silvia. Not only did we learn a lot about the food and the wine, we also learned about the history of the city. Fantastic.

Friendly, easy. The places were close, not a lot of walking. The bars were ready and prepared for us.

We had a great time with lots of small bites and great wine. Frederico was awesome. He took us to these local little places that we would never find on our own. In fact even after being there I doubt we could find them again. Venice seems like a maze to us😂. Food and wine was locally produced. We tried all the cichetti you read about as “must try in Venice”. 🤩

The tour was ok, but not great. The wines and cichetti were very good. However, all the guide (Frederico) did was explain the wine and food we had. We have been on food tours in other cities and the guides talked while we walked, talking about the neighborhoods, culture, food, etc. Frederico didn’t do that — only briefly explained the food and wine at each spot. His personality was very bland.

Enjoyed a more local experience and conversing with other travelers. Very good wines and Venetian food. Our guide was very friendly and shared first hand knowledge of life in Venice.

Trying the different chicetti in small bars was great. Learning about the various wines from Veneto was an experience as well. Georgia was a great host. Hats off to her.

Federico knows his stuff and is an excellent guide. I particularly liked the focus on natural wines and local places. A must at the start of any first time trip.
