It was an excellent day. The pickup at the cruise port was easy with the guide holding up a sign with our name. The drive through the cities/countryside was educational and informal. Nice stop for lunch.

Excellent day! Alexandro our guide loves his job and is very passionate about history. We climbed hills, sat on beaches enjoyed tasty wine.
The torus is very good 👍 and the tour guide is very knowledgeable, me and my husband are very happy and lucky to have the tour with Julio.
The info on the tour requested we leave the ship and be at the van by 8 am . Of the 16 people on the cruise only 12 were there on time however we ended up waiting for the 4 other folks for 2 hours and finally left the dock for the tour after 10 am. The first part of the tour was interrupted by a city marathon race by the ocean. Block roads meant we missed location to visit. The driver and guide were good though and I would just suggest that if the van is going to wait up to 2 hours for guests that this be clearly stated in the advertisement.
Our tour guide Stephanie was excellent. So was Jorge, our driver. But we had to wait two hours to start the tour. Two families arrived two hours late. The people in the tour didn't speak spanish so I spoke to Stephanie if there was anything they could do. A number started calling my wife's phone and it was Jaime, the owner. He insulted her and didn't let her say two sentences. She was in tears. The trip was ruined. If you book this tour be prepared to wait 2 hours.
Julio was an amazing guide! Excellent information on the area, tailored the tour to adjust for weather, closures (on a Sunday), and suggested additional stops within our timeframe. Needed to get from our cruise to our hotel in Santiago and this was perfect. Highly recommend this tour!
Ours was a half and half. Good and not so good. We waited over an hour to meet our tour. We had been told 7:30 , then our ticket said 8:00 and we later realized an email was sent that morning that moved the time to 8:30. Not good communication. But we connected and went on our way. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. However her itinerary kept changing what we were doing, when we were doing it and where exactly we were going. It felt a little disconnected. She left us during lunch and left for quite awhile leaving us to hang around the restaurant and waterfront for her to return. Overall we enjoyed the day, were delivered to our hotel and had a nice time. But there were times we were not sure all would be well. Not the most professionally organized tour, but maybe they are in a transitional period. I am sure with more experience it will improve.
We are a group of older ladies and various mobility issues. We were to walk down a few stairs and take the funicular. The first one was closed. The required us to walk more stairs and on uneven pavement and cobblestones to another Funicular that was closed due to low energy. This required more stairs and uneven pavement and cobblestones. One of our ladies missed the entire tour (sat with the driver) and the rest of us were having lots of issues with the walking surfaces. The tour guide, Sofi, was kind, but we didn't get much information. As we passed one large home that was turned into a museum, Sofi barely mentioned it. There was another guide with a group and he was telling them about the original owner and how/why it became a museum. Sofi talked about some of the area when we first began our descent, but after the second closed Funicular, didn't add a lot to what we were seeing.
Valentina was very nice but trip was a bit disappointing. Very uncomfortable van with tight seats making it difficult not to bump your knees, and I’m short. Van under airconditioned. Wine tasting consisted of one bottle of wine between 6 people. I am used to a wine tasting to be several types of wine. I was just glad to get to my hotel and put the day behind me.
Transfer and Valparaiso tour was organized excellent! The tour guide Vale Fdez Prada and her driver picked us up from Valparaiso port. She is very knowledgeable tour guide. She introduced us to beautiful Valparaiso murals, gave us overview about city, port, center, Vila Del Mar. The transfer from Valparaiso to our hotel in Santiago went smooth and enjoyable. Recommend this company.
Nice overview of Valparaiso. Excellent lunch at Chez Gerard in Vina Del Mar. The wine tasting was not what we expected, and therefore somewhat disappointing. Our tour group of 4 couples who had never met before the tour was told to pick white or red, that it was not possible to do both. We agreed to red but unrealistic to expect that a group of strangers would be forced to one choice. And then it wasn’t even a selection of reds. The one wine we tasted was quite nice but I’ve never been to a wine tasting that consisted of a winery simply opening a bottle, offering a little background, and then leaving it on the table. My husband asked if it was possible to see the vineyard itself, and was told no. Not a good way to sell your product. Although our guide answered any questions about the landscape etc on the way to Santiago, it would have been nice if she had volunteered some information.
We were picked up from the cruise terminal by our guide Sofi at 8:30am. We had to wait around for approx an hour before the remaining members of the tour turned up. It was slightly annoying having to wait for the other people to turn up but this is down to their poor time keeping. We were then taken for a walking tour around Valparaiso before stopping off to see Sea Lion at the coast. This was an added bonus as we had missed the opportunity to see them during the cruise. We stopped at a few more tourist spots before being taken to a local restaurant for lunch. Food was really good and for 2 main meals and 2 cocktails it came to around £40, which we thought was reasonable for the quality. We finished the tour with a stop at a vineyard for a wine tasting before being dropped off at our hotel in Santiago at around 5pm. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and it was so much better than any tours that we went on with our cruise ship (Celebrity). Sofi was excellent and was one of the best tour guide we had during our trip to South America. She was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We would definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see Valparaiso and the surrounding areas.
Valparaiso was an unexpected experience. Once we were off the shuttle and started walking around it was a very pleasant experience. The art work on the buildings were incredible. Pleasantly surprised.
Miguel was fantastic- very knowledgeable, very helpful- great English! We forgot a suitcase on the van and he returned it to us!! We learned a lot about the area on our walks-great wine tasting —loved the funicular ride! All day trip was well planned. Jan and Ray from Texas
This was a total and complete mess. Our guide Francisco was completely unprofessional and incompetent. We are still very upset and shaken over what happened. We were left in the middle of Valparaiso by our guide!!! The whole reason you do a tour like this is so you feel secure and safe but he didn’t care. He had said meet us at the bottom of the hill by the funicular and when we got there he was gone and no one from our group was there. We didn’t know if we should take the fenicular or wait there. We were shocked that he completely disappeared so we decided to take the funicular thinking he might be waiting there and then at the bottom we were asked to pay and we had no money so we could not leave the ticket booth. Finally a kind stranger saw our distress and paid for us to be released from the ticket booth. Then outside the guide was not there either!! We panicked. We do not speak the language and we had no currency and no phone. We stood waiting and so finally my husband decided to go running thru the streets to try to find the guide. I was left alone and scared. I later was told by the group that it was not a safe area yet there I was trying not to cry and scared and alone. My husband ran down streets and down a hill and saw someone from our group and yelled to them to wait for us and then he had to climb the hill to come back and get me. When we reached the bus we told Fransciso what happened and he laughed and he did not even say sorry. He didn’t count and didn’t even notice we were missing. I was shaking for over an hour just recovering from this horrendous experience. It was an awful day. To top it off, we had hoped to see the items from Easter island and without even asking the group Francisco didn’t go there. Instead we sat and had a long lunch almost 2 hours! No one told us he changed the itinerary. I really felt Viator should at least refund us for the stress and the lack of care but they just ignored us. We will never use them again.
We were glad to find this tour instead of spending a long day at the airport. We liked the sights we saw. A few ideas to improve the experience: a microphone for the tour guide as we couldn't hear him towards the back of the bus and a step for passengers to get in and out of the bus. Also, at the winery, would have enjoyed an actual wine tasting experience and learn about characteristics and pairing suggestions rather than just being given a glass to enjoy.
Great last day of vacation. Walking tour of Valparaiso positively changed my mind as we walked the streets and saw the vibrant art and character not found near the port. Aldo our guide was fantastic and flexible. He adapted our schedule so we could have lunch at a second winery Casas del Bosque which was amazing and great wines.
Would give this a zero if I could. It was a complete waste of $170 ($340 for 2 of us). The tour was not as expected or as described and did not deliver as promised. 1. Tour says maximum of 12 persons. There were at least 13 on the tour. Doesn’t sound like much difference until you consider that the van used was small and cramped. The seats were so close together that there was less legroom than an economy seat on an airplane. The windows were difficult to look out with so many people. 2. The van did not have a step which forced people to “climb” up into the van - an entry and exit that was so taxing that there were those on the tour that did not get off at some stops due to the effort involved. 3. The pickup was supposed to be at 8AM. We worked hard and coordinated with our cruise ship to get there by 8. Even so, we had to wait until after 9AM for others to arrive. The tour operator never told us we would be leaving so late. 4. Stops —Cerro Allegre - not sure if we stopped here. If so, no stroll and no pointing out of murals —Caleto Portales - The Fish Market - we definitely did not stop here —Plaza Sotomayor - We did not stop here. —Muelle Prat - I’m guessing the only reason we saw this was because we came in off a cruise ship —Corporation Museum de Archelogica - were dumped off here to see the Easter Island Moai sculpture. No explanation or “guiding”. Just dumped out of the van and on our own. —-Avenida Peru - tour description says we could explore and choose a restaurant to eat at. That was not the case. We were dropped off at a restaurant, reminded that we were responsible for our own check and told to eat there. The food was not good and a meal for two that was all shared and did not include alcohol cost $80 (for lunch). Outrageous and the most expensive meal in Chile. We walked down the street and saw other places more reasonably priced. —Casablanca Valley wine tasting. We did go to a winery. The guide told us we could only taste one wine and had to choose as a group between red and rose. The group was about evenly split so the guide chose Rose and 2 bottles were brought out for a group of 13. I objected and said the tour described wine tasting and that those who wanted red should be allowed to taste. I requested a refund so the guide finally went away and brought back 2 bottles of red. The bottles were $8 each which means a total of $32 the company paid for this so-called tasting. Ridiculous when you consider what was charged for the tour. 5. Restroom stops-This is an 8 hour tour. Yet the guide did not have any arrangements for bathroom stops. About 2 hours in, a number of us needed a stop. The guide wandered around a neighborhood for sometime after and then asked me if I had money. We had to pay 500 pesos each to use the bathroom. He should have paid for the group or arranged something different. 6. We did take a walk through a neighborhood to look at the murals and he said it would be all downhill. No description was given of the murals. In fact, I believe he did not know about the murals at all. At the end, the group had to walk up steps (52-72 steps) to the funicular. It was difficult for many of the group who had been led to believe the walk was all downhill. There are so many beautiful murals and other sites in Valparaiso that we were led to believe we would see as well as a wine tasting and this did not deliver any of that. I have been on many Viator tours over the years and most have been great or at least acceptable. This is the first I have given this low a rating and have been so disappointed in. I feel that a refund is due.
We had a full day to spend in the area following disembarking from our cruise in the morning and a late evening flight out of Santiago, so scheduled this tour. Our guide, Aldo, met us and two other couples at the cruise port terminal exactly where and when we were told. We enjoyed our tour of the hills of Valparaiso with a few photo stops, a short downhill walk and a funicular ride. Then we had a coastal tour to Vina del Mar and stopped to see seals at Playa Renaca, Following that we were scheduled to stop for lunch and go to a winery, but at the request of the participants, he was able to schedule a second winery where we had an excellent lunch (at our own costs). At the end of the tour were were dropped at the airport in Santiago and another couple was taken to their hotel. Aldo was a great guide with a lot of knowledge and a good delivery.
It was a very interesting city with all the bright murals and great wine tour. My only problem is we could not hear the bus driver talk about the history going around the city. It didn’t look like he had a mic and we were sitting at least 2/3 back so we didn’t know what he was saying. The other thing was the step up and down to the bus was very very high and most of us had a really hard time getting up and getting down off and on the bus. We asked for a Little stool and they said they didn’t have one.
50% was very good but 50% was very bad . Felt like we were brought to a restaurant for lunch that was very average but we had no choice but to go
Very good tour leader. Very informative. Need LESS walking. Some of the places we went to visit were for his benefit and not us. (Going to the photo place ) Cut down on the number of hills to visit. Not ideal for senior citizens.
The tour guide and driver were doing their best, but we got stuck waiting for everyone to show up, dragging the tour out by 2.5 hours. It'd be way better if they set a time for folks to arrive and had a policy that if you're late, tough luck – you miss out. That way, everyone who's on time doesn't get held up, which seems to be a recurring problem based on other reviews I've read.
This excursion was the best. We went with Stephanie and Ronald and I highly recommend them. It was just my wife and I so it was nice. They took us to locations we probably wouldn't have gone to on a larger tour and they were all very interesting. They are very knowledgeable and the nicest people. If you get a chance to book this tour do and ask for them. You won't be disappointed.
Edison was very informative. Seeing the different cities on the itinerary, riding the funiculars and lunch by the seaside in Vina del Mar
We had a very pleasant journey with a very knowledgeable tour guide on the way to city tour. Everyone of us had a very good time.
Everything about this cruise was wonderful. No hiccups boarding/tours etc. Guides were very knowledgeable and spoke a good English.
started out so terrible that it ruined any enjoyment for the entire trip. We sat in the van for over 2 hours before to leaving the port. It was aggravating and frustrating. We demanded to leave or let us off to another vehicle but that was denied. Since it was pre-paid , we were stuck.
Tour was just us. Pickup, our name on a sign, was great (hint: some guides at this port are inside the gate, others are not. If you don't see you name, keep going until you are almost on the street.)Javier and Edison were a great team and Edison was an outstanding English-speaking guide. Knowledgeable, fun, responsive to our wishes, and very flexible.
Enjoyed our day with Carlos! Fun visit. Appreciated his focus on safety and security. Place we stopped for lunch (on our own) had a beautiful view.
Our cruise line NCL canceled the tour with Transfer to the airport because it was New Years Day. Yeah really lame. I found and booked this tour. And yes the holiday did impact the tour a bit. But our guide and driver were stellar and we had a great time
Very interesting, nice stops, great tour guide and driver. Glad we were in a van and able to more easily navigate the roads and park.
The tour guide and driver were very knowledgeable and the walking part of the tour allowed you to experience the towns of Valparaiso and Viña Del Mar. the lunch break was at a vineyard with a delicious buffet. Overall Really enjoyed the tour/ transfer.
I gave this tour a 4 star The tour guide and driver were great the walking tour of Valparaiso was excellent as was Val de Mar the neighbouring city.Wine tasting was disappointing.. This was not a winery. We bought lunch here which was expensive, buffet style and.very disappointing. Drive from Casablanca valley to Santiago was great and we felt very safe with our driver
Stephanie was wonderful picking us up at the cruise port and showing us around with stories of Valparaiso and lunch at a beautiful castle overlooking the beach and great wine at a winery before taking us to our hotel in Santiago. This was a great personal tour with a great tour guide.
Very good tour with our driver and guide Eduardo and Jaime. Lots of information and laughs. Comfortable ride and easy start from cruise ship
Jamie was right there at the pier when we walked outside the terminal. We had a group of 10 and the van was nice and spacious. He speaks very good English and knows the area very well. Beaches in Vina Del Mar were pretty and enjoyed watching the big waves. Valparaiso was a very colorful town with lots of history. Wine tasting in the Casablanca Valley was good. Enjoyed delicious seafood at the seaside restaurant overlooking the beach. Then we were dropped off respectively at Santiago airport and the hotel. Everything went well and the driver was great! Highly recommended this excursion! :)
Tour guide Jaimie was excellent, informative and humorous. He and the driver Sergio were very helpful to me with my disability which made the tour that much more enjoyable. The selection of sights and narrative while driving was perfect for a one day tour and the location for lunch was very good.
Jaime and his driver, Jaime. did an excellent job! Our cruise ship was 2 hours late and Jaime was still there waiting for us!! He modified the tour only slightly because of the delay and we were able to see all the wonderful sites of this area. He took us on an outstanding back alley walking tour of Valparaiso where we were able to see all the unusual artistry. We even rode an antique funicular. Jaime is a wealth of knowledge and shared about his culture and history. We then went to view the clock and had an AMAZING seafood lunch in Vina Del Mar. After lunch we saw the Easter Island statue and headed to Casablanca for our wine tasting. At this winery we were supposed to only have 2 tastings, but Jaime arranged for 3. We then went to our drop off point in Santiago. He dropped us right at our building. A couple days later we had trouble with our airport transfer and he was able to arrange transportation for us. He definitely provides a high level of service!!
the Tour Guide, Jaime, was very informative and attentive! we appreciate all his efforts and hard work!!
