Just wanted to express my deepest thanks to Felipe who was a lovely and knowledgable guide , who took as you have amazing seafood and really showed the variety of art and layers that could be found in the city.

We felt like we were in really great hands on this tour and he showed us everything we wanted to see in this beautiful city. He was very capable of customizing the tour to our interests, including some curveballs like, "we like doors". We even got the chance to see some areas not normally accessible to the public. Christian's ability to infuse his own experiences, stories, and life into the tour really made the city feel alive. I hope Valparaiso finds its next Golden age.
We had a fabulous private full day walking tour of Valparaiso. We learned So much about the history of the city from our very knowledgeable and friendly guide Christian and saw so much. We also had great coffee, a fantastic lunch and a fun (and delicious) ice treat in the hot afternoon! We loved every minute of it. This was the absolute best way to experience this fascinating city. We would definitely recommend Patatour Chile and our guide Christian. He is the embodiment of how to live a life while following one’s passion. A definite inspiration!!
We had an unforgettable day in Valparaiso with Cristian as our guide! From the start, he impressed us with his punctuality and warm demeanor. Cristian not only shared his extensive local knowledge but also took a genuine interest in our backgrounds, making the experience even more personal and special. The tour was packed with highlights – exploring the fish market, admiring stunning murals, and wandering through historic neighborhoods. We loved the variety of public transport we used, which gave us an authentic taste of the city. Cristian also went the extra mile, recommending fantastic places to eat and taking time to ensure we captured amazing photos. It was truly a perfect day, and we cannot recommend him highly enough!
This was one of the best all day tours we have ever been on. Cristian, our guide met us at the cruise terminal after we disembarked from Viking Jupiter. Cristian who is the owner of PataTours spoke impeccable English. His knowledge of Valparaiso was excellent. At the start of the tour we went to the fish market and met local fishermen who had some great stories to tell. We then travelled on so many different modes of transport - train, bus and funicular’s. We explored the city and met a number of local artists. We had lunch at a beautiful seafood restaurant which overlooked the city. The food was absolutely delicious and so were the pisco sours! Cristian took us to the places of his childhood. We also got the opportunity to meet his lovely wife and son at his wife’s art studio, not to mention a visit to his office where he played some beautiful music to us on his guitar. If you are looking for a first-class, unforgettable journey through the picturesque city of Valparaiso, then Cristian is definitely the guide for you. He really loves what he does and it certainly shows. Many thanks Cristian for a day we will never forget.
It was a great experience. Catalina was an amazing, knowledgeable, and very kind tour guide. She sat with us for a few minutes and discussed with us our preferences for places to visit as well as telling us we would get there, that is, walking, elevators, trolleys, and buses. At end we got to see almost everything we wanted to see and she even took us to a store near our hotel to buy water. We had a very lovely long tour with her and great suggestions on what we could do on our the following day.
Of course YMMV, but this tour was one of the greatest highlights of our 3 weeks in Chile for me and my wife. We had already visited Patagonia and Atacama, and thought we were beyond being wowed at this point. But our guide Paula did an incredible job introducing us to so much of the amazing and vibrant local culture in Valparaiso. Her passion for her hometown was clearly evident throughout the tour. And thanks to her, we got to experience interacting with locals at the fish market, students at the funicular, and artists along the viewpoints. Highly recommended!
The guide was good BUT did not warn me how bad the crime was in Valparaiso. Yes she told me not to take pictures in one area of the markets and to be careful about pickpockets. My husband died 16 days before my tour. He wanted me to do this trip. I was robbed of my husband's necklace with 3 charms on it and a $3,000 diamond necklace. Just what I needed after the man I spent 68 years with dies. He gave me the diamond heart years ago for Valentines and I wore his chain to have a piece of him with me. I don't know if the heart was visible because I put under my shirt earlier. If the heart was showing the guide should have told me. I also wore my diamond wedding ring. If there was that much danger, the guide Paolo should have warned me and not just told me not to take pictures in that area and about pickpockets. Afterward she called it an accident, no it was a crime. I never saw the man, just a quick grab of my chains from behind me. TOURISTS SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN TO AREAS THIS DANGEROUS AND CRIME RIDDEN.
One of the best tours we’ve ever done & Sebastian is the best guide we’ve ever had. He was so friendly & patient, spoke perfect English & made everything run smoothly. He even waited for us whilst we had lunch & then took us back to our hotel. Having a private tour meant that we could see whatever sights we wanted plus excellent suggestions from Sebastian - he whizzed us around super efficiently via buses, ascensores & trolley buses as well as walking through the street art neighbourhoods. It would have taken us at least 2 days to do it ourselves. We visited the fish & vegetable markets, Pablo Neruda’s house + lots & lots of street art. We couldn’t recommend the tour more highly.
This is an amazing tour and completely worth it. Our guide, Paula, has live in Valparaiso all her life and clearly loves her city. The highlights were riding public transports and seeing the fish market.
We really appreciated a full day walking tour of Valparaiso with Patatour Chile. It was a great experience starting with booking and planning our custom tour to the authentic visit to the fish and vegetable markets, eating a warm and fragrant humita, walking through the colorful streets of Valparaiso and a yummy lunch. Our guide Christian was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional and created a wonderful adventure for us. We were treated not merely as customers but also as good friends. If you are visiting Valparaiso or Viña Del Mar I would highly recommend getting one of the walking tours offered by this great company! Many thanks to you, Christian, we are very fortunate to have met you!
Cristian was as good a guide as one could have. He had great knowledge and insight of the city, and more importantly conveyed those to us. I have had guides throughout the world, and he ranks among the best.
I was so close to skipping this experience as I forgot that we had to travel to Valparaiso from Santiago for this tour (2 hours). But, I am glad I came to this experience. This is definitely one of my highlights from our Chile trip. Christian is super passionate about what he does. He is an amazing storyteller. The way he tells you feels like you are going back in time. We learned so much about Valparaiso and its culture. He is very patient with all our questions. The best part is he is an amazing photographer. We got so many great photos. I put most of them on instagram. You shouldn't miss Valparaiso if you are in Santiago. This city is 10/10. Must visit. To reach Valparaiso from Santiago, you can book turbus. It's convenient and cheap. Book the bus tickets online and be very careful of the boarding location. We accidentally booked the wrong bus stop to board from. And we had to take uber to reach Valparaiso. Uber cost us 120 USD, but the bus round-trip was 30 USD.
We had a memorable relaxed authentic and highly enjoyable day with Christian who was charming, fun and highly knowledgeable We loved Valpo and would spend more time here than Santiago if we came again So much to see and experience- a unique eccentric place that was brought to life on our lovely day with Christian
Wonderful! Christian was fabulous. We have been on walking tours around the world and this was the very best! Culture, Arts, the people, the place. Totally worth it!!
On a fabulous walking tour of Valparaiso, our guide Cristian knew many special routes with special places, because he is a hometown boy. The 6 1/2 hours flew by, as we walked through tiny passages, rode on funiculars as well as a train, and a bus, and explored the murals and other magic of the city. We even knocked on a residential door, where he knew the owner had delicious caramel cookies for sale. What a treat! We overlooked the harbor where Valparaiso started, plus the monstrous modern building that houses the National Congress, which was built away from the capital Santiago when Pinochet was in power. He was from Valparaiso. My husband and I highly recommend Cristian. Our time with him was entertaining as well as educational.
I can't say enough great things about our full day private tour with Patatour Chile! Christian was an incredible host and really fun. We rode various modes of local transportation to traverse parts of the city that we probably wouldn't have gone to on our own. We went to the fish market (a MUST) and happened to run into his brother. So cool! We went to the fruit and veggie market and ate a local type lunch there. In the afternoon, we wondered around to get different views of the port and the city. Christian surprised us with a couple presents as well. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know him and spending the day with him. He has a welcoming smile and personality. He's the real deal and knows his stuff about his city! Do yourself a favor, and book time with this company. You will not regret it!
As a solo female traveller, I had safety concerns about wandering around in Valparaiso on my own. Christian was a fabulous guide and so considerate! He met me at my hotel and returned me there. We had a full steady-paced day and covered a lot. We had corresponded as to what my interests were and he planned a route that covered everything I wanted to see and then some. I even got a bit of shopping time in! Christian knows the city like the back of his hand and I would highly recommend him without hesitation!
We had an awesome day with Patatour. Christian was very nice and showed us places that only locals can see. You can change the complete itinerary demanding on your requests and preferences. Something that's unable with organized trips to Valparaiso. For us it was important to get to know the Chilean culture and the way of life in Valparaiso. That is exactly what Chrisitan showed us. The tour includes some tickets for the micro (the small buses) and metro. Christian is a nice guy and easy to talk to. Defenitely a 5 star tour and recommended for people who want to experience the real Chilean culture!
A unique experience to know Valparaiso. Cristian is a native of the city and not only takes you to know the classic tourist spots, but also combines aspects of daily life such as small sections by public transport (Metro, Bus and Trolley) and stories of his life in the city. Very good combination of a good tourism professional and local known to all. Highly recommended
The experience with Patatour was definitely excellent. From the beginning we had very good communication and were aware of all the details. Our guide Christian, is a lover and great connoisseur of Valparaiso. We had the beautiful possibility to visit the port and the cove as locals, talking and sharing with people, which is certainly something enriching. We really had the possibility to know the authentic Valparaiso, with its people, its lifestyle, its rhythms and experiences. The minibus ride was one of my favorites. Our tour of the historic Valparaiso was everything I imagined. An enjoyable walk, full of experiences and close stories. Discovering the gem of the Pacific alongside a connoisseur is an unparalleled experience. We marvel at every corner and every story. It is definitely a beautiful and recommendable experience, which you can not miss if you visit Valparaiso.
A great day with Cata from Patatours. Excellent leadership. Always happy to. We've seen and experienced so much. USCHI AND PETER
A wonderful day! Cristian was an incredible Guide, attentive to our needs and passionate about his work. We organized a full day private tour, and we couldn't ask for anything better. Cristian was born and raised in Valparaiso, and conveys in every word the love he has for his city, allowing you to truly feel like a Portenõ (name of the inhabitants of Valparaiso) for a day, and not a vacationer. He made us taste typical dishes, visit art galleries and the most famous street art districts. We wanted to avoid those tour groups and we were looking for something really authentic. Well Cristian and Patatour on this are a guarantee! Absolutely recommended. Thank you for the beautiful memories we will always carry with us ❤️
We were taken care of very well, the experience, wisdom, and the enthusiasm of the guides allowed us to enjoy the tour a lot.
The trip with Christian was a lot of fun and I learned a lot not only about Valparaiso, but also a lot about the history, culture and people of Chile. For one day I felt like a local and got a good insight into everyday life. This day was definitely an adventure. Christian is well informed, open to questions and I felt very safe.I can only recommend this tour!
