We had the most wonderful 3 hour walking tour of Valparaíso with our delightful guide, Felipe. Felipe was friendly, knowledgeable and informative, and showed us parts of the city we would never have found on our own. The walk was well paced and manageable, navigating the different cerros without having to climb too many steps! We were in a small group of just 4 people, which was ideal, and so paying for rather than joining one of the large ‘free’ walking tours. We learned so much about the different cerros, the geography and architectural styles, the history of Valparaíso and the contemporary arty and bohemian culture. The street art was incredible and we came away leaving a little piece of our hearts in this magnificent, vibrant city. Thank you Felipe for a fabulous day!! Muchas gracias.

Itinerary
This is one of the most interesting places in the city center, where you will see a variety of architectural styles, the most important monument of the Chilean Navy and a local craft market.
To close with a flourish, we finish our tour with the best panoramic view of the city, from a traditional promenade, where so many sailors made promises they never kept. Here you will find a craft fair and the National Maritime Museum. At the end of the tour, you can decide if you prefer to stay to enjoy the place for longer or return to the Sotomayor Square with your guide. We can also help you get an Uber or a taxi to go where you need it, be it your hotel, the bus terminal or a good restaurant for dinner.
The funiculars are one of the highlights of Valparaíso. This is the city with more of them worldwide. They are 2 small wooden cars that go up and down at the same time on diagonal rails, connected with a flexible steel cable, specially built to help local people and travelers to reach the hills. The Reina Victoria funicular was built in 1902 and it is the shortest and steepest funicular in Valparaíso, but don't worry, it's located right in front of the cemetery, just in case!
This is the most tourist hill of Valparaíso, full of colorful houses on cobbled streets, street art, stairs and promenades with local artists and amazing views of different corners of the city.

Very informative tour around Concepcion and Alegre districts. Aiden, a native of Valparaiso, explained the different influences of various immigrants on this small section of the city.
It was an excellent tour with Camila! We enjoyed the art, architecture and murals focus of the tour. She was informative, interesting and had good recommendations for after the tour.
We really enjoyed the walking tour. Our guide (Felipe) was very talkative, engaging, and clearly knowledgeable. He managed to share a lot of interesting information throughout the tour while keeping it enjoyable and easy to follow. A great way to explore the city! We did the tour in Spanish.
We had a great tour with Christian showing us the sights and history of Valparaiso, he was super friendly and full of interesting anecdotes about architecture, art, cats, food, wine and his own family and history growing up in the area. We went up a funicular, saw all the different heritage areas, stopped at a great restaurant for pisco and ceviche, and also met his lovely family. It was our first afternoon in the city and we felt well informed and able to explore on our own the following day. Highly recommended!! Thank you very much.
Christian guided us around Santiago on the Monday. We enjoyed the tour so much that we decided to book Christian’s Valparaiso tour the following day. Both were excellent - interesting, informative and full of hidden gems we wouldn’t have noticed on our own. Christian readily adapted the tour based on our interests and questions. Suggestions: if you’re staying in Santiago, take the bus to Valparaiso - safe, comfortable, great value and authentic - and get Christian to meet you at the station. And book the afternoon boat trip in the harbour. 2 fantastic days in Chile.
I just returned to my hotel from the tour. It was wonderful! Catalina was so knowledgeable and kind! I told Patatours before the tour that I have some mobility issues. They totally accommodated me. I loved the history I learned and the beautiful art that is Valparaiso.
Local guide with rich knowledge and experiences. Really enjoyed the tour. His recommendation of a restaurant right in front of our hotel was excellent as well. Highly recommended.
Our 3 plus hour tour of Valparaiso Famous sites with Felipe was fabulous. He is a life long resident of the area. He added history and personal experience to the prescribed tour path. He spent more than an additional hour with us while we stopped together for some snacks and drinks. The unexpected bonus was that in late April my wife and I were the only guests so it turned out to be a private tour. We tipped him generously for his knowledge and extra time. The sites and sights and sounds of the route were wonderful. It would have been a great value even if there were the maximum 10 participants.
We had the absolute privilege of exploring Valparaíso with a true local—and it made all the difference. From the moment we started, it was clear we weren’t just on a tour, but experiencing the city through the eyes of someone who genuinely lives and breathes its history, culture, and people. His depth of knowledge was exceptional—not just the well-known stories, but the hidden layers, personal insights, and local perspectives that you simply wouldn’t get otherwise. What stood out most was his passion. Every street, every building, every story was brought to life in a way that felt authentic and meaningful. On top of that, his understanding of the real estate landscape added a completely unique dimension that we truly appreciated. We feel incredibly lucky to have found him. Choosing a local guide was the best decision we made, and we couldn’t recommend him more highly to anyone wanting a deeper, more genuine experience of Valparaíso. Thank you again—it was unforgettable.
Great way to learn about the city & gain an insight to history, areas & must visit parts. Catalina’s enthusiasm was a joy to share.
My husband and I enjoyed this small group tour of Valparaiso. Felipe shared history and culture of the town and answered all of our questions. His recommendations for the area were all great too!
Catalina was a bright ray of sunshine and was part of what made me fall in love with Valpariso. She truly has a love for this place and you can see it in everything she does. We got to see places we never would’ve found without her. Highly recommended you book this!
This is a must upon visiting Valparaiso as the streets and hills can be very confusing. It was our first activity upon our arrival, and afterwards we felt like pros at navigating the town. Kudos to Katarina.
Guide was excellent. Friendly and informed. Very nice to spend time with.
We really enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot. We were there for the day, the city is so different than Santiago.
I highly recommend this tour. Felipe was a knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. We left the tour feeling like we had really learned about the area we toured and how it fit into Valparaiso's and Chilean history. We also enjoyed visiting the local artists.
Our Guide Christian was very knoledgable of the Valapraiso city. He is a lifetime resident and business owner. We really enjoyed the art scene. We highly reccomend it.
This is a lovely tour around the best areas of Valparaiso taking in some amazing murals and interesting vehicles. It was mainly walking but included a trolley ride and the funicular railway to increase the scope of our tour. The lovely guide Caterina was very communicative so we knew exactly where to meet in the main square. It was a nice group of six people. Caterina was the nicest person. She was so informative enthusiastic about her city and helpful. I highly recommend this tour
Catalina was a very enthusiastic guide, Her love and passion for her city was contagious. We learned a lot and coveted a lot of ground. Would highly recommend.
Felipe was great! Very personable and knowledgeable! Lots of great information and enjoyed the pisco sour
A fine walk around Valparaiso, stops at wall art, small galleries, viewpoints. Guide Felipe was excellent, relaxed, and knowledgable. Much of this tour could not have been done in a bus or van, so walking was perfect.
Great walking tour. Felipe explained this section of the Valparaiso, Concepcion, with interesting facts as he showed us it's unique charm. Gave great recommendations which we followed up the next day on our own. Felipe's interest and pride in his city made for a wonderful day (as well as the day after). Thanks Felipe.
I greatly recommend this tour. Catalina, our guide, was very friendly, gave us much information about Valparaiso and answered all our questions. We started the tour by boarding a tramway, which was quite original. Then Catalina took us to many charming streets on the two main hills of Valparaiso. We had a great time with her.
Filipe was fabulous - so much cool info, we learned a ton about the city. The street art was amazing, and we met some great artists and artisans. Thx!!
I booked a walking Valparaiso tour for my family and I, and Catalina was by far the best tour guide I've ever had! She taught us a lot about the history of the area along with fun facts and places to visit. She was so nice and never rushed us! She even messaged us the day before out trip to confirm our meeting place, and let us know the morning of where she was - very organized. This was by far the highlight of our trip!!
We had a great experience on this 3 hour tour. Our guide Felipe was a great guy who was very knowledgeable and knew the right balance between information and showing the key parts of the city. We covered the main sites and felt it was much better than trying to do ourselves. We would strongly recommend.
We had a fantastic Valparaíso tour with Patatour as a family of four. Christian was knowledgeable, engaging, and great with kids, making the city’s history, street art, and funiculars come alive for all of us. The pace was perfect, the logistics seamless, and we felt well taken care of the entire time. A wonderful way to experience Valparaíso — highly recommended for families visiting Chile!

Sergio was a perfect guide. I love Valporaiso. The tour was wonderful and we got to see so many beautiful places.
Catalina was an amazing guide around the city. She’s very knowledgeable and truly has a love for art. She made us feel very comfortable throughout the tour.
Cristian, who established and owns Patatour, was our guide for this half day tour. He grew up and lives in the hills of Valparaiso, speaks English very well, and is keen to ensure that visitors understand the city, its culture and history. It gave me a full understanding of what I needed to know, with some suggestions and ideas about where I could eat dinner that night, or explore on my own after the tour. This tour hit all the marks.
We had the most amazing guide, Catalina was the kindest, friendliest and very knowledgeable of the areas. And patience! Thanks you Catalina making it memorable for us

Cristian was an amazing guide. He took us to very nice spots in Valpo and he also gave us a lot of information, combined with personal stories and jokes. Highly recommended!!
Had a fantastic time with Christian and Patatour Authentic Traveling. Our tour turned out to be private with just the two of us and Christian, and we got to ask all kinds of questions about Chilean life and experience in addition to the city tour and history. Highly recommend; tour felt very personal, as Christian was showing us places where he grew up as well as cultural highlights of the UNESCO area. Added a lot of depth to our 2 days in Valparaiso.
Great walking tour with Filipe. He was full of lots of interesting facts and information regarding Valparaiso and its history. We particularly enjoyed walking through the streets above the financial district, looking at the houses built into the hillside and the wonderful street art. Also gave us a great recommendation for lunch - Alma Mia. Thank you Filipe.

Very informative and interesting. Felipe was our Tour Guide and he was very knowledgeable and very nice. He was patient with us and showed us so many interesting things and explained history and showed us art and why it was important and who the artist was and introduced us to some artists. He was an excellent Tour Guide! We love Valparaiso and after this tour, we love it even more.
Christian gave a detailed and entertaining tour. In addition to being full of history he added personal touches showing us the neighborhood he grew up in. Excellent tour.
Christine is very humorous and bring lots of laughters during the tour. I love the history and childhood stories during the trip which you can only find with local tour guide. He is also very flexible in doing the tour according to our preferences and go out to help us enjoy the tour even more. He takes excellent photos as well. Thank you for the wonderful experiences in Valparaiso.

Had a great afternoon tour with Esteban today. Her was very knowledgeable and we got to see many areas of Valparaiso that we would never have seen without the local knowledge. Thank you for a 5* tour
Had a fabulous time with Esteban who created a personalized tour for me because I was the only person! He took care to show me different areas of Valpo and introduce me to his friends (and sometimes family!) all across the city. Met some fabulous artists that I loved being able to support and rode multiple ascensores. Learned so much about the city I never would have on my own.
Me and my husband booked a half day private guided tour with the guide Cristian Cabrera. We wanted focus on the history of Chile and Valparaiso and the funiculars. He collected us at our hotel in Vina Del Mar and we took the bus together to Valparaiso. He was very knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. He was flexible and listened to our needs and was very friendly and polite. He even prolonged the tour with 1 hour and 15 minutes because he was able to. We took four different funiculars and walked around the city while he explained and answered our questions about Valparaiso and Chile. He interpreted many of the beautiful street art motives. We really recommend this company and in particular our guide Cristian.
We enjoyed every minute of our tour. Cristian was a wonderful guide who answered our (many!) questions all day and was very receptive to the types of things we wanted to do. We were running late and he was very gracious and accommodating. He even made reservation for our lunch. His love for Valparaiso and Chile really shines through - a true ambassador for his country and his culture. 100% recommend!
Christian was passionatein his pride and love of his home city Valparaiso. Our small group tour was wonderful. He was successful in personalizing the tour to the interests of the group, and showed how friendly, artistic and creative the vibe of Vaparaiso is. There seemed to be a pleasant surprise around many corners. We highly recommend this tour.
Valparaíso’s vibrant streets and colorful murals amazed us! The walking tour was insightful and fun, showcasing the city’s eclectic charm. Our guide was fantastic.
