It was amazing to see lots of painting, the audio tour was great and was well set out. It was quite nice to see history presentation and preserved.
The church was absolutely breathtaking, incredibly detailed and richly decorated. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the whole experience. The ticket seller was also very kind and friendly. We highly recommend this experience to everyone!
Great and unique experience, friendly and helpful staff. Very impressive also for (smaller) kids.
Really interesting visit, you had time to sit and take it all in so not like the cathedral which was very nice but busy with someone always wanting to get past you. Black friars is a little gem
Had a great tour,really helpful staff,fully recommend going,beautiful church.
We had a wonderful time visiting the church. It was absolutely beautiful, and we would like to give a very special thank you to Vincent, who kindly gave us a personal tour. As it was quiet around the church, Vincent was able to spend time with us explaining so much of its history, which was absolutely fascinating. Vincent is a first-year student, and I’m sure he will do remarkably well. He was first class — knowledgeable, friendly and clearly passionate about sharing the history of this wonderful place. It felt personal and relaxed, and having Vincent explain the history really brought the experience to life. A truly fascinating visit, made even more special by the people we met along the way. Highly recommended.
The Priory was funded by the Knights to enable to friars to help the poor and needy of Valetta which they continue to do todate along with lecturing at the nearby university . The museum is interesting but the opulence of the Basilica is noticeable compared to nearby St Catherine’s monastery. There are beautiful frescos in the dome, on the walls along with sculptures plus paintings, all by renowned Italian artists. However, the building seems to be void of warmth due to the ornate wealth visible. It’s worth visiting if in the area as the interior is so incredibly beautiful.
Beautiful, peaceful hour spent leaning about St Domonic & the life of the friars. Recommended to usbt Anastasia at the Catherines. Worth the visit.
Fascinating place to visit. Amazing the wealth of the church.
Unique, to be visited while being in Valletta.
Amazing monastery - over the top beautiful, quiet, not crowded. Truly a hidden gem. Highly recommend!!
Beautiful experience, amazing place and people at the entrance are very kind.
It was worth the price! We had a great experience visiting the museum, St. Catherine’s Monastery, and the Secret Garden in Valletta. The history and beautiful views kept us engaged throughout the visit. There were informative explanations in English as well as several other languages, making it easy to follow along. The staff were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain everything we needed to know. It wasn't crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and anyone interested in learning more about Valletta's history.
A real gem hidden in Valletta, the church has amazing artwork, visited St Johns Co Cathedral but this I think was just as good and so much quieter.
A very peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful church. Small but interesting exhibition about the Dominicans’charity activities . Lady at the ticket desk very helpful.
A very lovely serene monastery. So much to learn and beautiful peaceful. Its worth the few extra step down to it . It filled my heart with joy and we got to see some beautiful fresco serene. Well worth a visit
Absolutely amazing, I really loved it. Went to both places and was so pleasantly delighted.
It was a beautiful church with life like paintings and statues. Malta was the heavily bombed place in world war -2. But this church miraculously survived the bombings with no damage at all.
My wife and I visited the Black Friars Experience in Valletta during a recent holiday, and it was one of the highlights. We didn't really know what to expect, but it's fair to say that the beauty and scale took our breath away. A visit won't last much longer than an hour, but the entrance price reflects this and represents good value. Highly recommended.
It was a great pleasure to admire the wonderful heritage housed in the Oratory and church. The Guide explained everything in detail and in a way to be easily followed. He accepted and answered all our questions and all the comments . A great Thank You to the Guide and I recommend it to all those who visit Valletta
Fantastic hidden gem Truly impressive site which is easily missed but has to be on your Valletta agenda. I would strongly recommend coupling this with the Mysterium Monestery tour as they really complement each other well and at a great price. The staff are to be praised for their politeness and knowledge and are a credit to the place. Fully recommended.
Amazing History which we were privileged to be able to visit. From the old part of the building to the rebuild and reconstruction was fantastic. Easy to gollow board and QR codes were helpful. We spent quite a while here just soaking it all up.
Length of visit good thanks 😊
Very beautiful! Wonderful place!
Fascinating history, vividly told in beautiful surroundings.
Extraordinary site, of significance to the overall history of Valletta, Malta. I took this together with the Mysterium Fedei Abbey tour and both were AMAZING‼️ 🇲🇹
A really lovely church and chapels. A real treat to be able to see it.
The museum part, chambers, paintings, artefacts & church itself are exquisite & well laid-out. The atmosphere is peaceful & the staff are friendly & helpful. We bought the double ticket for Mysterium Fidei also, which is also fascinating & well organized.
Tour guide was very passionate to explain and walk us through the history of the Dominican past events and artifacts. Made me more proud to have been baptised in Porto Salvo church Valletta.
An interesting tour of this beautiful place, showcasing the wealth of paintings and ornaments.
A nice experience indeed. So glad this cultural heritage is being preserved to such level to be handed down to other generations
Very interesting and beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Was informative too and some amazing treasury to see. Recommended
What a lovely experience! If you are the type of person who wants to not just do the top 5 highlights in a city, but want to see something exceptional, g see this. It is a little gem!
Stunning beautiful church with an atmosphere of deep reverence. An unrivalled destination for all those visiting Valletta.
What an amazing experience we had today. Everything was beautiful and extremely well presented with information in both Maltese and English. Daniel on the front desk was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The exhibits were excellently preserved and displayed. All in all a wonderful couple of hours visits.
Good service at entry and interesting chat plus explanation by parish priest. Beautiful interiors, great explanation!
It was beautiful. Absolutely stunning, peaceful and rich with history, culture and heritage. The artwork was splendid and inspired
Excellent visit to both the church and museum. Amazing history and live views of the restoration process. A must visit location in Valletta.
Stumbled upon the monastery whilst strolling around Valletta. Went in on a whim, as rain was imminent. The atmosphere was incredible. There were very few visitors whist I was there and had the place to myself for part of the time. It's hard to describe but the aura was incredible.
It is good and informative ……I really like and enjoyed this visit it’s really an hidden gem in the middle of the town ………..
Clear and easy, interesting. A Must to go in Valletta. No needs to do both visit the same day, it's perfect. The visits themselves are not too long
The experience was actually 3 separate sections but for 26eu for both of us it was fair value. The Black Friars section is actually underwhelming. It's interesting but fairly bland after you view the video and the rooms on display with all the artifacts. The treasure is the entry to the Dominican Basilica which is spectacular plus a short walk away you also get to enter the Monastery/Convent of the Mysterium Fidei. We got to see a few Friars but there dressed in all white nowadays. An interesting experience and good value & worth the time to view.
A very pleasant and informative experience that left both me and my partner in awe of this cathedral and its history. The guide was very friendly and kind, as she explained any questions we had. We would most certainly recommend visiting!
It was really a new experience for me and I feel the grace inside the Chruch .I would like to welcome you all and enjoy this wonderful experience .
A beautiful serene place in the middle of a bustling vibrant city. Loved the elements on display and the beautiful fresco and paintings. The displays had comprehensive and easy to follow explanations. The lady on the front desk was extremely polite as are most Maltese people. Thank you for a lovely experience.
We bought a joint ticket to visit St Catherines hidden garden and Blackfriars Monastery and both were great. A lot more to see and do than I expected. Everything is displayed well and at St Catherines it really makes you feel how it would be living as a nun years ago. The church at Blackfriars Monastery was beautiful and definitely worth seeing. Highly recommend these 2 places to visit getting the joint ticket was very good value.
Around the corner from Mysterium Fidei, the Black Friars are still very active in the community. We decided to pay them an extended visit after stumbling upon Margaret in the street. She shared once again invaluable information that made our visit both meaningful and enjoyable, giving us an insight into the lives of religious fraternities. The magnificence of the church contrasted strikingly with the humility of the sisters. The two places offer a contrasting view of the Catholic faith in Malta. Definitely worth a visit, especially when it isn’t crowded, to fully appreciate the peace.
First of all, a big thank you to the wonderful lady working the counter the day of our visit! She was wonderful - getting the right tickets, helping with photos, she was absolutely lovely! The exhibition rooms were beautiful with art and some priestly clothing on display. And then the church was absolutely breathtaking with ceiling paintings (a personal favourite being the personification of virtues) and a sense of grandeur all around. The treasure room was comparatively small but with some impressive pieces. We were lucky to go on a day with few other visitors so the atmosphere was especially solemn. Definitely a must-visit (though perhaps not with small children) ESPECIALLY in combination with the Mysterium Fidei!!
Discovered by chance, but so happy that we did it, place not to be missed. So beautiful secret church! Very nice and friendly lady explained about the museum, Valetta and Malta life in general, we will remember this visit with pleasure.
