Informative and fun. Marisa was a font of historic and contemporary knowledge, passionate and fun.
A very interesting walking tour by a knowledgeable, friebdly guide. Easy to get the public bus from Valletta to Mdina.
My daughter and I both thouroughly enjoyed this tour on Sunday, May 11, 2026. It was easy to locate our guide at the gate and he quickly gave a run-down on what to expect. Group size was manageable and we had no problems hearing or understanding content. The pace allowed for photo-taking and to linger a few moments to take everything in. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Malta and its people/events and shared interesting tidbits about buildings-areas we stopped at. I would recommend taking this tour prior to setting out on your own as it gives you a good idea of things/places you’d like to explore further in this area on your trip.
Angele was a great tour guide. Loved Mdina and Rabat tour. Thank you 🤩
Nice walk and explanation of the history and what happen d and those that conquered Malta. What else ca. U say but history covered. Not much in Rabat but you can take nice photos
Tiring but so so so worth it! Our guide Angele was marvellous and so well-spoken - she really made us understand and love Mdina and Malta more - told us about the history, language, even day to day tidbits. It was a small group which was perfect. The initial tour takes about 2-2.5 hours, and at the end you can choose to book an extra walk to St Paul’s mini grotto, the catacombs and WW2 shelters (4 euro paid on the spot). Would recommend booking this tour with Angele to anyone - she was so kind, even when the underground got overwhelming and scary. She was comforting even in the merciless Mdina sun, and pointed out nice places for us to visit afterwards or to grab a bite or dessert. A+ tour!
Thank you very insightful tour
Lovely morning spent discovering a beautiful historic city. Guide Marisa was excellent Would highly recommend
If you’re into walking tours and learning more about the history and culture of Malta, this is exactly what you are looking for. Our guide, Marissa, provided a fountain of knowledge about Mdina, Rabat, and the history of the Maltese people and islands. In just 2 hours, my son and I learned more about Malta than we had in our previous 7 days on the islands or during our research. This tour captured and held the interest of our group (ages 19-45) and was so informative without overloading information. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get a deeper knowledge and history of Mdina and the Maltese islands.
Unfortunately, I can't remember our guide's name but he was so informative and made the tour very interesting. This is definitely worth doing as you get to walk through a World War II bomb shelter as well as seeing where Paul the Baptist was imprisoned plus so much more. The history is amazing and the walk is easy.
Great tour. Our tour guide, Angel, made the difference. She gave a detailed narration of the history of both cities and how their histories intersect with the architectural style. Very knowledgeable. Pace was great. She was patient with our questions. Took us to the catacombs for icing on the cake.
Our guide, Nadine, was very knowledgeable and went at a good pace. There was lots to learn about the city and suburb and the tour was very interesting.
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave a lot of oral history. She was charismatic and was very funny while she gave her tour.
Super knowledgable guide with lots of interesting information. We had a very disengaged group of teenagers in our group so think she did well to keep the rest of the group invested
Angeles was so informative, attentive to each group member, very professional and considerate.
One of the best walking tours! Our guide Angele is the gold standard for walking tour guides. We learned so much about Malta/Mdina/Rabat’s history, culture, architecture, language. One of the highlights of our 3-day Malta visit. Highly recommend!!
A really good walking tour through Mdina and Rabat. Our guide was great - nice mix of facts and humour
We really enjoyed the walking tour of Mdina with Nadine. She was very knowledgeable - we learned more about Malta overall and Mdina in particular during those two hours than we did in the rest of our week on Malta. Meeting instructions were clear, headsets helpful for following commentary without disturbing others around us. Suggestions for things to see after the tour, and for pastizzi from Crystal Palace, were very helpful. Great value for the price too!
What a marvelous tour. Our tour guide was wonderful. She knew so much about not only the Historical past of Mdina, but also more recent fun facts. She was very accommodating and insightful and set a comfortable pace. The tour covered many interesting stops and the timing didn't keep us in the sun too much (but wear sunscreen, regardless). A lovely way to learn the history. I don't thing wandering the city unescorted would be even remotely as fun.
Really interesting & enjoyable tour through Mdina with lots of insightful knowledge and tips from the host, Angel. Even kept our two boys (7 & 10) entertained!
This was our first tour in Malta and it led us to book with City of Malta Walking tours for the Valletta tour too! I highly recommend this tour. Our guide Marisa was wonderful, very down to earth and funny at times she gave a great insight into Mdina and Rabat..What a beautiful place! The audio and earpiece set supplied was a great addition. Mdina can be windy but we could hear everything. Thank you Marisa! It was very enjoyable
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, interesting and Her pacing was perfect for our group of 11. One of the best city walking tours we have been on
A lovely informative walking tour with a great tour guide who was passionate about all the local history. She also had a lovely sense of humour too. We are staying in Valletta so a bit of a bus journey to go but we are so glad we did it. Would highly recommended.
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Mdina/Rabat/Malta and made the tour interesting. Small group of 12 & we had headsets so easy to listen to guide. Would recommend this tour which is great value for money
Nadine is excellent! She did a great job of explaining the history, architecture and provided fun facts that you would not read in a guidebook. We were lucky to be there in March which was already getting crowded with tourists. We highly recommend! Nadine was also our guide for Valletta which we would also highly recommend.
Very knowledgeable guide for both Mdina and Rabat. I enjoyed the complex history and stories about these magnificent places.
Charlotte was an excellent guide who gave us detailed information about the areas of Mdina & Rabbat. She also gave us information about places we could visit and cafes. We really enjoyed our tour.
Our tour guide, Charlotte, offered us useful and easy-to-remember information about the history of Mdina and Rabat. Highly recommend!
Would highly recommend Mathieu. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting and the time flew by. Malta’s history is unbelievable and so many conquerors influenced this island, which is very strategic.
The tour lasted little more than 2 hours and included a lot of interesting stops in Mdina and Rabat. Marisa was our guide and did a great job showing us around both cities, pointing out the history, explaining how the two cities developed over time, but also providing great recommendations of places to explore after the tour. I highly recommend this tour as it allows you to fully understand what you see and learn why the two cities are so unique.
A unique place which remembered us of our time in Morocco. Very well kept little streets with monumental houses, churches and musea. Also a beautiful viewpoint from the walls of the city.
Learned a lot things about Mdina and Rabat. Really interesting.
Angela was wonderful, very knowledgeable and interesting. We learnt so much in 2 hours and would highly recommend this tour
Excellent tour around madina and Rabat Very knowledgeable Full of interesting information on both mdina and Rabat plus malta generally Great value Thankyou
Learned a lot, quality tour! The history was quite interesting.
So glad we booked a walking tour. We learned so much from Nadine that we would never have discovered on our own. Good pace, clear information.
Mary our tour guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was the perfect length to see all the main points of interest in Mdina and Rabat.
Nadine was an excellent and enthusiastic guide. She obviously is very knowledgeable and passionate about Maltese history and has interesting insider knowledge. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Malta.
Fantastic walking tour with Angele, she has vast knowledge of the area, so much so she answered all my questions before I even asked them. She brought the past to life and also added humanity and humour in the tour in just the right places. Would definitely recommend this tour
Whichever city we visit we always book a walking tour as it’s a great way to both discover areas you may not find by yourself and gain an insight to the culture and history The Mdina and Rabat tour was no exception and our guide Angele was very knowledgeable and we learned so many interesting facts. She spoke excellent English and her presentation was interspersed with humour. The narrow lanes of Mdina were exceptionally busy but the fact that we were provided with headsets meant that we could easily hear Angele even if we were several metres from her. A five star tour and we would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Mdina
Nadine is a very good guide who managed a large group very well. Mdina, the old capital, is an amazing place which has been well preserved for us all to enjoy.
Angela was professional and friendly. The dialogue was very informative and clear - we did both the Valletta walking tour and Mdina/Rabat walking tour. Good pace and loads of detail from historical facts to modern day. Very knowledgeable guide. Thanks for making our visit to Malta sp much better.
The walking tour was very informative and a perfect balance of local knowledge, history and walking. Our guide Angele was very knowledgeable and insightful, she made the 2 1/2 hours pass quickly.
The two hour walking tour was the right amount of time. The group was about twenty five people but thanks to the Whispers it wasn’t a problem hearing our guide, Angele. She was very knowledgeable and open to any questions from the group.
The guide did a great job with a big group and very busy streets. It was great to have headphones so we could hear her even if not close. She provided lots of information that we wouldn’t have heard about otherwise. Lower stars are not for the tour pre say just wasn’t our favourite place/ tour of our trip.
When in Malta, this tour should be at the top of the list of things to do The tour involves using headphones to properly hear the guide. Our tour guide was exceptionally great.
Great trip round Mdina and Rabat. Guide was v well informed but also interesting details about life in and around these areas. Good tips for local restaurants and things to do nearby.
This tour is a must if you visit Malta. The peace and tranquility of the area as well as the history makes the two hours pass by too quickly. There is as much or as little as you may want to see and even when the tour has finished there is plenty to do on your own. The number on the tour is limited, it’s not overcrowded and the headsets worked perfectly.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgable about the cities and told a lot of interesting stories. Very enjoyable tour.
