Our driver John was wonderful. He knows the area so well and knows so much history. He gave us lots of opportunities to stop, take pictures, and try some local food and drink. He was accommodating, friendly, on time, pick up/drop off was perfect. He helped me in and out of the car several times. (Thank you). We recommend John 100%

Itinerary
This popular site attracts thousands of visitors per year, with tourists flocking here to see the amazing grotto via local boat trips (which rarely get crowded, despite the big numbers). It’s also a very popular diving, snorkelling and swimming spot, with very clear, clean and deep waters. Blue grotto boat ride cost of 10 Euros per person.
Mdina was founded over 4000 years ago. It is the oldest fortified medieval town in Malta and sits on top of a hill. Mdina is said to have been where St Paul, the Apostle rested when he was shipwrecked. So if this is to be believed, this is a very ancient city. Its architecture is a mixture of baroque and medieval and there is just no place like it.
Located on Malta’s western coast, at 253 metres above sea-level the Dingli Cliffs are the highest part of the Island. The cliffs became a popular attraction for tourists visiting Malta, heading there for a peaceful walk with boasting views of Filfa and the Mediterranean sea.
Get a stunning view of Malta's natural ports from Valletta's Barrakka Gardens. At noon and 4 o'clock a commemorative salute with traditional canons is performed in remembrance of the fallen world war 2. After returning back to cruise port terminal.

Covers lots of history while seeing this beautiful country. Our guide, Ray was very well informed, and thoughtful! He reviewed what we had seen before and how long we had be in Malta, then covered as much of the country as possible, and recommended what we should see the next day in Valletta the next day, since we could walk to those landmarks.
John was our tour guide with such a huge amount of knowledge. We enjoyed every minute of the 5 hour tour. The views and attractions were amazing. I would recommend to anyone.
Great tour! John did a wonderful job. He was timely, friendly, and very knowledgeable. This was our favorite excursion of our trip.
Not a good experience really. To start, we had to call 3 times to find our drive who was actually 30 minutes late. Did not get out of the car to let us in and his car was filthy. As a tour guide, I would expect him to take us to the relevant landmarks, but he asked us what we want to see? He swore frequently and continued to talk about himself. This was not a very pleasant trip for two ladies in their late 60s....Not really the experience that we were hoping.
Even though our driver spoke English, he was difficult to understand and spoke so softly we couldn’t hear him in the back seat. We just came from Athens, Santorini, Mykonos and Ephesus Turkey and all of our tours were outstanding. Other than the Blue Grotto we were not blown away by anything else we saw here. Not sure if it was the uninteresting driver or the so so sites he showed us.
Peter, our driver/guide was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, communicative, and friendly. He went out of his way to give us recommendations and make arrangements for other things we planned to do in Valletta. It truly was a customizable itinerary, as we made decisions about what to see and do along the way.
Jonathan picked me up promptly at 8am and it was a wonderful non stop 4 hrs! I learned so much about Malta. Jonathan was engaging, friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Malta is amazing with a rich and diverse history. Well worth it!
A great tour taking in the main highlights of Malta. Informative, efficient and comfortable vehicle. Jonathan was friendly and encouraged us to try some Maltese delicacies. Thank you
This tour was a must! I had been to Malta before but going the Blue Grotto was a highlight. It was so beautiful and we got to see a different part of the island I would have loved to have gone swimming with the locals but I didn't have my swim suite with me. I would definitely recommend the tour though.
This is not a private half a day tour. This is literally just a private driver. He just drives you to the site and you have to look at everything on your own. The driver had a car with barely any AC amd it was 45 degrees outside. For the amount we paid it wasmt worth it at all.
Our guide, Matt, was prompt, communicated extremely well, tailored our visit to exactly what we wanted & met our timelines. Matt exceeded our expectations ! I would HIGHLY recommend Matt & his team. Enjoy Malta !!
We recently booked a private van tour of Malta. We knew we would have seniors with us, and that’s why we booked a tour where we could have flexibility and control of the itinerary. When we arrived to the time and place we’d set for meeting, the tour van was nowhere to be found. We had to call and coordinate with the central office, and started the tour late. First stop: We stopped in the market for a few minutes, enjoyable but unremarkable. Second stop: We then proceeded to the Blue Grotto. The view is indeed spectacular. We couldn’t go down to a boat because of seniors mobility issues (88, 85, 84 and 81). The next stop was Mdina. We asked if there would be a place for the seniors to wait, like a restaurant, while we walked in Mdina. Our tour guide said there would be a bench in the sun, that there were no restrooms or restaurants in Mdina. She said that the only available bathroom would be the one in the outlook for the blue grotto. So, without another option, the seniors went down a ramp to go to the bathroom and had extreme difficulty coming back up. We asked if they could stay in the van while we walked around for an hour in Mdina. She said she couldn’t leave the AC on while they were inside because: “running AC would be a waste of diesel”. We asked if she could take them back to the port and then be back to pick us up in 1h, since the round trip drive would only be 50 minutes. She said she couldn’t do it. We decided to go anyway. We got to Mdina, and surprise! There was plenty of shade, plenty of restaurants and plenty of benches in the shade. Our tour guide was completely unknowledgeable. The answers to our questions were met with one sentence answers. She didn’t know any facts, history, or stories about Malta. She did mention the runway of the airport was above us in a tunnel. When we got to the blue grotto she said, and I’m not exaggerating: “when you board the boat, there will be a view of the sea”. When I asked about the history of Malta, silence. Then, after we got we back from the market, she read basic facts from Wikipedia out loud. Throughout the whole tour, the guide was constantly on the phone while driving. The only good thing I can say is that she drove and didn’t crash.
The driver is not a tour guide. He did not know the specific history of Malta and was not able to take us for walking tours
This will be a duel review. The beginning was a one star experience. The driver showed up and we got in his car. Then he told us that the AC in his car was not working. He told us we could stay with him or transfer to another driver. Since it was going to be a hot day we said we would take the next driver, 15 minutes later the new driver showed up. Then new driver was Kevin and he was fabulous. I would give Kevin 5 stars. He drove us where we wanted to go and took us places we didn’t even know about. We would book Kevin again if we return to Malta. One other note, the drivers use their personal vehicles so there isn’t any water or Wi-Fi. Viator needs to be more careful in their descriptions to ensure that everything they say will be there is actually there.
Carmel was wonderful. Our trip was booked for the incorrect date but the tour guide made adjustments to accommodate our schedule. Carmel our driver took us all around and provided great information as we traveled. He was ver pleasant and courteous. Viator phone rep was very good. The chat representative was not helpful at all.
Very pleasant and convenient way to see all of these sites. John is extremely knowledgeable, courteous and a delight to spend an afternoon with. He made us feel welcome and provided a comfortable pace for enjoying the experiences
The guide (Kenneth) was fantastic. His plan to get us to the sites before they became busy was perfect. I highly recommend using this company.
It was the perfect experience in Malta. Very easy pick up at the port. Simon was very kind and patient with a family member who walks slowly. He bought us Maltese treats to try. We had an amazing time.
Jonathan, our guide, was extremely professional and friendly. He is a very safe driver and his knowledge of Malta was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, highly recommended.
Our guide was knowledgeable and we were able to see so much! He treated us to the local delicious food. He is a fun person and knows history! This was my favorite place to visit!
Very comprehensive Malta tour done in 3 hours. Our guide, Jonathan S. was extremely knowledgeable!!!
Jonathan was our guide. He made it easy for us to see what we wanted. He knew the best way to arrange the time we had. Very friendly. Extremely knowledgeable. Comfortable van. We learned a lot! The boat ride at the Blue Groto was our first highlight but not our last one. We rated this tour an A+.
We could not have had a nicer experience around Malta than being driven around by Simon. He took a us to experience the blue grotto, to have local sweets and pastries, to the original capital of Malta. Perfect English, warm personality. A wonderful ambassador for his country. We look ok forward to a return visit.
Isaac and Sylvan mage the tour personalised, special and interesting g taking in the blue grotto Hagar Qim, Dihgli cliffs and the Catacombs. They allowed us time at each location to explore at our own pace. Unfortunately due to a massive thunderstorm we had to curtail the tour. Prior to the tour we were kept informed of timings where to meet and on the day Phone calls to ensure we knew wheee to meet and what vehicle led was collected ring us. Great service e thank you.
Absolutely fantastic tour around Malta. Jonathan was so knowledgeable and friendly. He was absolutely brilliant throughout the whole tour and we even went over time. I couldn’t rate this highly enough, you must book this tour if you visit Malta
Simon was an outstanding guide! He took us to the most beautiful locations and introduced us to incredible local cuisine we never would have found on our own. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!
Wow! Our guide John was amazing. His knowledge of Malta astounded us. He was both knowledgeable and passionate about the country. He was very helpful and thoughtful, a true gentleman. We really enjoyed the tour and the time spent with John. He made sure we seen everything that we wanted to see. At the Basilica he walked us in to a separate counter to avoid the line. John was always waiting for us when and where he said he would be when at an attraction that he did not go in, such as the Blue Grotto and a few others. We never felt rushed and really got to enjoy all we seen. John’s knowledge and personality really made this tour special. We highly recommend this tour.
Our first visit to Malta via cruise ship and we wanted an overview of the major attractions. This tour on Viatour seemed to fit the bill and it certainly delivered. Jonathan, our driver did an excellent job providing us with a great introduction to Malta. Our first stop was a boat tour in the Blue Grotto. This is a must do experience, beautiful! Next stop the Dingli Cliffs, highest spot on Malta. Then on to Mdina, the oldest city in Malta and finally views of Valleta. Jonathan provided excellent historical commentary as well as current information on Malta. Jonathan provided little treats, water and a small gift. We were very pleased with his service and the value of this private excursion.
Kenneth was just so kind a knowledgeable!! Wonderful guide. I had a fall and was so concerned and found me ice pack immediately. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed this tour. The highlights were our visits to the Blue Grotto and Malta's old capital city, Mdina. The only negative was that our guide was not properly equipped to deliver his knowledgeable talks while he was driving us from place to place. Only the people sitting close to the front of the van could hear him. As a result, many people in the back of the van started conversations that distracted from our tour. Suggest that the tour company use a speaker system inside the van.
George was our driver and timing was perfect. Communication before, during and after was excellent. George took us to the blue grotto where we did the boat ride, dingli cliffs, Madina, and a domed church. Received a honey cookie and a Maltese fridge magnet souvenir. Couple small things, it lists wifi in the van and we were to receive water. Van had no wifi and we did not get water. That said we did receive an apologie from the company afterwards saying it was an oversight. Would definitely book this tour.
We loved this. Got to see much of the island. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He told us a lot of great historical stories about the island.
Fantastic time getting a view of Malta. Blue grotto is a must see! Tour guide was so accommodating. We must come back!
Issac was fun with great knowledge of the island. He knew everything and everyone in Valleta!! We had an enjoyable tour with him.
We had a great tour with Jonathan. He took us to some beautiful sites around Malta. He dropped us off to take a boat ride around blue grotto and tried some local snacks as well.
We saw lots of places which was nice. Blue Grotto and Mdina. Blue Grotto boat ride is a must do. Was not impressed with transportation. Van was old and ac didn't work great towards end of day. Our tour guide was also about 15 minutes late and had us come find him vs coming to us where most others were picked up. Driver also got lost multiple times and had to do lots of turn arounds. Would have hoped he knew the island better for the amount we paid for the tour.
Even though our driver spoke English, he was not so easy to understand. The back seat had speakers above sows could hear better but the back seat was very hot the way the vents were placed.
Our driver, Simon, was absolutely fantastic. He was gracious, knowledgeable and professional. Great-
Very knowledgeable driver and a good way to see a lot of the island then decide where you want to spend more time
Isaac was extremely knowledgeable and communicative and very very entertaining. It is clear he loves this place and knows so much about the history and real function of the country. Cannot recommend this highly enough!!
John was the best driver we could have asked for. We traveled to Malta for one day on a cruise and he picked us up right at the terminal. He allowed for a flexible schedule and had suggestions as well, which was great! He gave a great amount of historical facts along the way. He was a great driver and we always felt safe. Would definitely recommend him to anyone we know and will be contacting him for our next trip!
It was an excellent tour! Simon was very hospitable and such a gracious host and showed us the highlights and more plus introduced to Maltese snacks peas in phyllo pastry and dates cookies ! He was very flexible too as our kids decided to swim at blue grotto. I highly recommend this tour! And Simon!
Jonathan, our tour guide and driver was perfect. Great communication before as to exactly when and where to meet and our preferred itinerary, funny and informative enough to keep our interest without being boring, and flexible and sensitive to our very diverse group of young kids and elderly parents. I am grateful for his suggestions regarding how and why we should do specific activities and when would be the best times to do them. Overall a fantastic experience. I would unconditionally recommend this tour, especially this driver, to anyone visiting Malta.
We had a fantastic experience on our half-day private tour around Malta! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many fascinating facts about the island’s history, culture, and landmarks. The car was spacious and very comfortable — a huge plus given the 36°C heat — and the air conditioning worked perfectly throughout the entire trip. We managed to see a lot in just a few hours, and the pacing was ideal. We had enough time at each stop to explore, take photos, and enjoy the surroundings without ever feeling rushed. The itinerary was well thought out and balanced. I were traveling with teenagers of different ages, and they all really enjoyed the tour as well — which says a lot! The guide managed to keep everyone engaged and made the whole experience interesting for both adults and younger travelers. Overall, it was a smooth, enjoyable, and informative tour — highly recommended for anyone visiting Malta who wants to make the most of their time in comfort and with a great guide!
Isaac picked us up from the cruise terminal and took us to the major tourist sites around Malta. He was friendly and full of information. He kept us entertained with his stories throughout our 4 hour tour. Make sure you have cash for the Blue Grotto boat ride as they do not accept credit.
Our tour guide was very nice. He met us at the port and provided pictures where to meet him, which were easy to follow. He took us to the blue caves where we had the option to pay €10 to go on a quick boat to the blue caves, which was beautiful. Then drove us around pointing out points of interest and took us to stop on the road where we purchased some olive oil pistachios sauce and offered us a dessert. He dropping us off in front of Mdina where we walked through the old fortress and stopped for a quick drink. Then dropped us off so we could shop before head back to the port. He even gave us Malta magnets at the end of the tour. Oh, and the shuttle was so nice and big! Great air conditioner!! It fit about 10 people so for 6 people it was super roomy. I highly recommend this tour.
Kenneth, our guide, was a thorough, knowledgeable and professional guide to Malta. A great itinerary for a half-day!
Tour was so educational well informed, flexible, and enjoyable. I am also I a wheel chair and the tour operator was extremely flexible and helpful with my wheelchair. Great experience!
I highly recommend this tour. Johnathan was wonderful to communicate with before the tour. I knew exactly where and when we were meeting. Our driver was terrific. I highly recommend John. Very knowledgeable and personable. We started at the Blue Grotto, which was spectacular. We took the boat ride and it definitely is something that you should not miss. Then we went to the Dingli Cliffs and a little stop to sample prickly pear nectar. Next stop was Mdina, with John pointing out sites and explaining history and culture all along the way. We had many wonderful photo opportunities. Mdina was a bit of a climb for my limitations, but John drove us around so we could get an idea of the city. Then he added a stop at Mosta Dome. The church is beautiful. We had a restroom stop and a chance to sample some delicious local delicacies. Then it was back to the port in Valletta with photo stops on the way. John offered us water along the way and it was a lovely surprise at the end when he handed us a souvenir magnet and a bag with a sweet treat. Do not miss this tour with this company!
