Great tour! Claire was an excellent tour guide of Valencia. She tailored the tour to our pace, while still allowing us to see all the sights.

Itinerary
ADMISSION ONLY INCLUDED FOR ONE MUSEUM/MONUMENT. Your private guide will take you around the UNESCO-protected Lonja de la Seda, or our Silk Exchange, which was Valencia's center of commerce during the 15th century. The building itself is a testament to Valencia's history, decorated with ornate engravings and gargoyles that tell their own stories. If you choose to include entrance into La Lonja, your guide will take you through the orangerie, the grand hall, and the ornately decorated rooms.
ADMISSION ONLY INCLUDED FOR ONE MUSEUM/MONUMENT. Your guide will walk with you beside the reflecting pond that acts as a roof for our modern archeological museum, home to the Roman ruins that made up the city of Valencia. If you choose to include entrance into the Almoina, your guide will take you back in time to the Roman era and the very early origins of our city. As the museum is underground, this is a great option for a hot day.
ADMISSION ONLY INCLUDED FOR ONE MUSEUM/MONUMENT. Supplemental cost of 5€ per person (excluding children). Subject to availability. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, the Cathedral of Valencia is widely considered to be home to the Holy Grail, which you will see if you choose to include entrance into the Cathedral. Your guide will walk you around the outside of the cathedral, explaining the significance of the variety of architectural styles.
During your tour, your guide will reveal the secrets of the City of Arts and Sciences complex, designed by Valencia’s own Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela. You can choose to end your tour at the City of Arts and Sciences to visit Europe’s largest aquarium and ocean research center, the Oceanografic. Our guides are happy to make reservations for you at the underwater restaurant or help you purchase tickets to visit the marine life.
No visit to Valencia is complete without a photo stop at the picturesque, wide sandy Malvarrosa beach area. You can choose to end your tour at the beach to soak in some of the Mediterranean sunshine. Our guides are happy to make reservations for you at one of our favorite beachside restaurants or recommend beach rentals for an afternoon in the sun.
During your tour, your guide will take you down the main shopping street in the city, passing by the Romanesque Bullring and the Art Nouveau style train station. Entrance into the train station can be arranged free of charge - please consult when you book your tour.
Decorated in an Art Nouveau style and featuring beautiful stained glass windows and Moorish-style arches, the Mercado Central, or Central Market, or Valencia, is the highlight of the city center. Your guide will take you through the rows of stalls piled high with fresh produce, meats, cheeses, wine, fish, olives, and more. You will have a chance to taste some of the delicacies of Valencia in the Central Market. Not available on Sundays, public holidays, or afternoon tours.
Located in the center of the city, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento is home to Valencia's center of government and town hall.
One of the most beautiful places in Valencia, the Plaza de la Virgen is located in the pedestrian-only historic city center. Your guide will take you through the plaza, showing you the Basilica, the Cathedral, and the fountain in the center of the plaza. You can take a break on your tour here to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine while people watching. You might even spot a few Valencian Falleras dressed in traditional 18th-century gowns.

We did a full day tour with Julie. It was a lifestyle & History tour combined. It was a great way to get oriented in the city and learn some history, too. She is very knowledgeable about the various areas and neighborhoods, and being driven around was helpful in covering a good bit of ground. We revisited places that especially interested us on our own later. We appreciated that she adjusted the tour given our feedback. Julie also gave of some recommendations for services we may want in the future. The company offers a wide variety of private tour services, focused on personalization and value. We highly recommend them and would use them again.
Carlos, who served as our guide for the "Highlights Family Tour" in Valencia, Spain was kind, informative, and incredibly engaging with our 8-year-old son. His personal touches made the experience truly enjoyable & memorable for our entire family.
Our tour guide, Carlos, was fantastic! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and fluent in both English and Spanish. He drove us through several neighborhoods, including some on the beach, and provided informed commentary that helped us decide which specific neighborhoods we wanted to spend more "on the ground" time in later. Our experience was 100% positive!
What an excellent tour by Carlos. He is extremely knowledgable about Valencia, shares stories that I've never heard (and I live here), and was patient answering all of our questions.
Great overview of Valencia highlights with our native guide Nicole. We really wanted to spend some time in their famous aquarium which did not disappoint. Next time we’d like to extend our visit in the Arts and Sciences complex. The architecture is spectacular!
My guide was excellent. She knew so much about València. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. I never felt rushed and she knew the best places for coffee and food in the market. In fact, she helped get me a last minute tour guide for Barcelona the following day. This company is spectacular!
Isabel was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited. She was also very flexible and let us make some changes to the schedule. The day with her was truly special.
Good overview of Valencia and her history. Nicole is an excellent guide who is a font of information.
Great tour and guide. Friendly and knowledgeable guide. We would highly recommend this tour. Paces well With great information and stories.
Our private tour highlighted the beauty and historical context of Valencia in a well balanced guided walking tour. Our guide, Carlos, was very knowledgeable and easily answered all our questions. Highly recommended!
Our guide, Claire, was so amazing! She shared so much historical and social context with us. It made an already amazing experience so rich and fulfilling!
My friend and I are first time in Valencia and wanted to get a good overview of the city. The Highlights Tour was exactly right for that purpose. It combined a car tour to visit essential remote locations and walking in the city center. Our guide, Javier, was great. He is knowledgeable, attentive, and has a good sense of humor. I can highly recommend the tour, the company, and Javier as a guide.
Issa was a delightful guide & extremely knowledgeable. We tweaked the tour to meet our interests & it was just a wonderful experience. Be aware, there is quite a bit of walking, but it was worth it!
Carlos was a wonderful guide who helped to give us a great overview of Valencia. He patiently answered all our questions and explained in detail the sites that we were seeing. We spoke in detail on various subjects. So great to spend the day with a Spaniard that helped us understand and appreciate his country.
Took time with my walking difficulties and explained many things along the way. We enjoyed the restaurant stop.
Kate and James (in training) were outstanding, the knowledge that was shared with us was incredible, Kate especially is full of interesting facts about the city that she calls home. The itinerary was tailored to our needs and as I am in a wheelchair, nothing was too much trouble. I cannot recommend them enough. I would also advice that whilst in Valencia to try the mid-morning snack which was delicious (sorry can't remember the name of this) Overall the trip was 5-star and when/if we go back to Valencia would definitely use Kate, she is kind, helpful and we appreciated this so much as this helped us to feel safe. Do not look any further than Kate, she is amazing human being who cares passionately about her work, and this shows though her behavior and kindness. We loved every minute of being with her, thank you Kate and James.
Kate was truly the heart of our journey—informative, engaging, and instantly felt like part of the family. She put everyone at ease from the start and shared her deep knowledge of the area in a way that resonated with all of us—even our grand kids, who had just studied the region and were thrilled to connect their classroom learning with real-life stories. Her warmth and genuine interest made every moment richer. As a native English speaker from the U.S., her presence was especially appreciated, offering a sense of familiarity and relief amidst our Spanish-language struggles.
What a wonderful experience touring with Claire last week! Her deep knowledge of the region, enthusiasm, and generosity created such a fun and memorable day in and around Valencia. Something special about this tour is getting to explore areas outside the city center that we would not have thought to visit on our own. Claire brought these areas to life with context and local insights that gave us a much deeper sense of each place's character and charm than a guidebook or map could provide. It was truly a delight from start to finish! Many thanks as well to Kate, who was so easy to communicate with in advance. Her responsiveness and thoughtfulness made planning seamless. So grateful to both of you for making this experience possible!
Our tour guide, Claire, was fantastic. She gave us a lot of great historical information about Valencia and pointed out things that we would have never noticed walking through the city on our own.
We are thinking of moving to Valencia and Sonia picked us up and took us through the city and gave us so much great information. Every neighborhood we went to she knew the restaurants, markets, places to shop. This was our first trip to the city and after the tour and for the rest of the trip we felt like we know the city like we had been here many times.
Fantastic Valencia Half Day Tour with Josep. He was both fun and informative. He skillfully dealt with the City Center streets being closed for a running event and eventually was able to get us to The Cathedral, Basilica, and City Market. Kate was most gracious and helpful in our communications prior to the Tour. First Class Experience with First Class People.
Our private highlights tour of Valencia with Kate was absolutely fantastic! She picked us up at the train station and it was nice to have a private vehicle for us to see multiple parts of the city and to hold our luggage during our tour. Kate is incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the city—she brought Valencia’s history and culture to life in such a fun and memorable way. From stunning architecture to hidden local spots, we saw and learned so much in the afternoon/early evening we spent together. Her personalized approach (as she made sure we visited areas that were must sees) and warm personality made us feel like we were exploring the city with a friend. This tour was a true highlight of our trip to Spain—Valencia should NOT be missed! This is a beautiful city filled with energy and history and Kate with her team made it a special experience for us. Thank you!
We did this tour with Sonia with my family of five (including two teenagers and one twenty year old). She was fabulous! Extremely informative, and she worked hard to keep everyone engaged! She also was very helpful in suggesting ways we could spend the rest of the short time we had in Valencia. Would highly recommend this tour!
Sonia was on time even though we were 10 minutes late due to a mistake by us. She took us around the sites in. València including the Silk House and Central Market kept us informed about the foods and places to go. She was charming and informative. To end the tour she took us by car to the areas outside of the old town, the museums of science & engineering and the aquarium. She brought us home on time, walked out, but we enjoyed every minute.
We had a wonderful time with Issa. She did a fantastic job showing up the old/ new city highlights. She even had on the itinerary a stop to try horchata- super fun time.
We had a fantastic time on our tour, and learned so much about Valencia. This tour took us to the beach, the City of Arts and Sciences, and the historic city center. Perfect for a first day in the city to get your bearings and decide what to explore in depth for the rest of the trip!
Dear Valencia Private Tours, If there were a Noble Prize for tour guides, Kate the owner of Valencia Private Tour would win. In fact, there would be no contest. Kate, somehow, combines the knowledge of Valencia (more thorough than Wikipedia’s) with the charm and graces and sense of humor of any of America’s late night talk show hosts. She is an American born (Maine and a graduate of Bates) but with numerous graduate degrees from universities in Spain. Her cross cultural knowledge allow her to intertwine her passion and love which is Spanish culture and philosophy and history and of course food. I must also mention that Kate his few tricks up her sleeve in terms of culinary secrets on producing her variant on the national dish paella. I must also acknowledge that Kate is the only person that I have met in fifty years who is sufficiently familiar with Plato’s masterpiece, The Republic to hold an animated discussion. Kate is a unique person and I can’t imagine any visitor to Valencia not using here to gain once in a life insights. As they say in Spanish: Ella es major que perfecta.
Insight, knowledge, and recommendations of our guide, Carlos. It was pricey but worth the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at our hotel.
We had a great half day driving and walking tour with Vicent. He was very knowledgeable and insightful as a native Valencian (good English too). We were on a cruise boat and didn't have extra time and this was perfect!
Carlos was a fantastic guide and we had a wonderful day touring this amazing city and its wonders. Carlos is extremely knowledgeable, but most importantly, made this tour so much fun. Highly recommend Carlos and this tour.
Great experience and really enjoyed the one on one day with our guide. She was very knowledgeable and kind.
Sonia our guide was wonderful. Incredibly knowledgeable, had a passion for her beloved city of Valencia and had a wealth of local insight!
We very much enjoyed the contrast between the modern arts and science complex to the old town. Nicole is a lovely and knowledgeable host who also directed us to the perfect restaurant for lunch. The best seafood paella of my life! Thanks Nicole!
AMAZING tour! Alexey was fantastic! We couldn’t have seen nor learned so much without him. He took as to all the must see attractions in Valencia. We never felt rushed. We stopped several times to take pictures, asked him to take pictures of our family and requested to stop twice to allow us time to get a souvenir and some paella. It was a great experience!!
Vicent was is truly amazing!! His love for the city shines through in his tours. Valencia might be one of my most favorite cities after seeing it through his eyes.
Our guide Nicole was very knowledgeable and easy going. She gave us a great overview of the city and we learned a lot. We had no idea how much rice is grown in Valencia! She walked us through much of the city so we could get our bearings - a great way to start our visit.
If you are in València, and you want to actually learn about the beautiful city you are visiting, then book with Valecia private tours. Kate’s communication, while doing tours herself, never missed a beat. We scheduled last minute and the professionalism was unbeatable. Carlos was our Guide and he is not a tour guide, he is an incredible Human being. His knowledge is in unmatched, and it felt like we were walking with an old friend.
Sonia has been such a pleasure to tour with! We loved her company and her tidbit of info. She really went the extra mile for us, I think one of the best tour guides we have ever had! Definitely one of the wonders of Valencia is Sonia!!
This tour was ok except the tour guide showed up a little late. We thought we would be in a car for the duration but the guide parked the car and we walked around for 1 1/2 hours which we did not expect. Also, we were dropped off back at our hotel 20 minutes earlier than the tour should have ended. For $548 they could have taken us somewhere for the time we paid for. All in all this was a good tour and our guide very sweet and knowledgeable.
Sonia was excellent. Very knowledgeable about Valencia and the history. Slight confusion about what we had booked with Viator and what was communicated to her as to which venues and tickets. All in all, a great tour!!
Vincent was a great guide who was very courteous and accommodating. He gave us options regarding what we wanted to do in the 4 hours we had together. Vincent covered both ancient and recent highlights of Valencia's history with us. He is a great conversationalist. We had a conversation with him about his city not just a lecture with a list of facts about Valencia. He also helped us with a last minute dinner reservation to experience authentic Valencian paella. Thanks Vincent. We hope to return in the future to explore more of your beautiful city!
Our guide Carlos speaks perfect English (was raised in the UK) and extremely knowledgeable about Valencia. It was an excellent tour and we learned a lot about Valencia. Highly recommended.
Excellent tour with Sonia! We really gained a great understanding of Valencia—its history and culture. Sonia’s passion for the city was highly evident and it made the tour all the more enjoyable!
Valencia is a fabulous city. But Kate, with her knowledge of history, made it so exciting. We were astounded how Valencia was so important to discovering the Americas and how our boring history lessons in school were not really the whole (if any) of the story. She is a delight and loves sharing her knowledge. We will be back for sure. THANK YOU KATE!
We had such a fun tour with Sonia. We loved having her as a guide. We learned so much about the city, and saw a lot. 5/5 stars, I would definitely recommend this tour. Ask for Sonia, she’s the best guide.
What a beautiful city and how lucky we were to visit it with our guide, John. He was terrific! He and Sarah-Kate, Valencia Private Tours owner, customized a tour for our group so we were able to visit all the places we wanted to see. We were a group of 11 and John managed to get us around the city with no problem and made sure we saw all the highlights. He was so knowledgeable and accommodating and covered so much with us in such a short amount of time. We even sampled the yummy Valencian sweet drink, Horchata, and a pastry as well! So glad we found this personal tour instead of doing the large scale shore excursion of our cruise ship. Thank you, John and Sarah-Kate, for your hospitality!
Carlos was an excellent guide. He made suggestions and customized tour based on our wants. Convenient pickup from our cruise.
Carlos provided us with an excellent private tour of Valencia. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to visit most of the major sights of the city. He provided a terrific introduction to the city and its history. I highly recommended Valencia Private Tours and Carlos.
Excellent tour of the old part of Valencia as well as new part. Kate really knew her stuff on the interesting history as well as being super energetic. Our group had fun and left Valencia feeling richer for it.
