Wow!!! Learned a lot and the cathedral was gorgeous. Light show wasn’t needed, don’t need to modernize history, faith. Highly recommended!

Exceeded my expectation. Light show was amazing and church is beautiful. A definite must see when in Valencia.
The light show is about 15 minutes and then you walk around and listen to information at stations. Takes about an hour.
This was a relatively expensive Valencian activity at €18 but was an unusual way to see a church and to really take in the decoration. We enjoyed the light show although it was unclear how you could see the other two - they were shown on the map in the guide at the church but staff said they were not available. Despite multiple fans in the chapels the church got very hot so I would recommend visitors bring their own fans! We bought tickets at the ticket office on the day and there were no queues, although I suspect we would have saved a couple of euros each by purchasing the tickets online where they are listed at €16!
The light show is not narrated. It reminded me of one of those adult coloring books. It was HOT-- it was July.
Takes about an hour. Really enjoyed it. It is the most beautiful church in a small space. The guided tour came with it after the show. A must see and a hidden gem. Seriously. We almost missed the entrance lol.
Beautiful, but I felt 18 euro was too much. I've seen better (Santissima Annunciata for one) for free. Didn’t like being given the hard sell to buy tickets to other venues whilst waiting in the queue. It was a short queue and raining, and moved so slowly because of the hard sell. Church was very busy. Pews were full. They wouldn’t even let you sit on the steps of the side chapels. I have a torn meniscus in my knee - painful to stand for long. Light show was nice enough but a bit cheesy, and I didn’t learn anything more I hadn’t already seen. Would have preferred two tier pricing - one to see the church and a different price if you wanted the flashy show.
The experience was extraordinary. The light show was awesome and the art, paintings are just mind boggling.
Very beautiful ceiling in a church that far surpasses the actual cathedral for interest and beauty. Not sure how much the light show added to it. Some of the lights are very beautiful and some of the interesting bits are highlighted, but you'll get a lot from it even without the lights. Some tips... If you have tickets you can skip the queue. This isn't obvious, we had to ask. And don't sit down for the light show, stand at the back for the best view and the least strain on your neck.
If I hadn't put the address for this church in Google maps I would have walked past it. Its down a tiny alleyway, and almost looks like an entrance to a supermarket. But when you get inside....wow!!!!. I was in time for the light show, and I've got to say it was amazing. The church itself seems very small compared to some, but it really does pack in some treasures. I was lucky and walked straight in with no queue, but when I came out it was a different story. I'm glad I got there when I did. The light show is definitely the highlight of the visit, and also the story of St Nicholas (Santa)
Beautifully decorated and well restored baroque church. The frescoed ceiling vault and walls are spectacular. But once the light and music show starts, it deteriorates. A beautiful church becomes an over the top, disneyland style spectacle. Vulgar and kitsch. Save your money, and go while it is open for mass if you want to appreciate its beauty.
Not sure the light shows are quite the route to go, a bit too Disney really, however it was enjoyable visit and the place was beautiful. Slightly tricky to find. For an extra 7 Euros we bought the enhanced ticket which gave us free access to the Church of Santos Joanes and the Hortensia Herrero Art Center. The Art Center turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip so the joint ticket was great value.
Excellent experience - had we not added to the to-do list before our visit we would have walked past the narrow alley entrance without even knowing it was there. Having seen the light show in action, it was pretty amazing and worth every penny. Stunning show in an impressive interior
Nice small church with helpful audio guide and added light show. The light show was interesting, not as great a spectacle as I'd imagined, I was slightly underwhelmed. It is way overpriced. We have visited churches all over the world and this just felt like a money making scheme. It has an amazing ceiling and this should be celebrated, not turned into a gimmicky money making tourist scheme. Shame on them.
I booked tickets online for the light show in the evening, and when we arrived, we were able to download an audio guide that explained each part of the church and the significance of the saints, frescos etc. When we finished touring the church, we sat in a pew for the light show. Never expected to like an immersion light show in.a church, but it’s really well done and respectful of the place. We loved the visit!
Beautiful experience, I would recommend if you are in Valencia , the church is very beautiful! I loved it
Amazing place and fantastic light show. Love the audio sets as well. Which you didn't have to pay extra for, a welcome surprise
Saint Nicholas is a beautiful church with outstanding ceiling fresco painting. However, since it is a little smaller, it does not automatically make it to the top 5 list for Valencia. The light show has made it a more famous destination. The light show partly highlights the ceiling paintings that you would not normally have been staring at for a long time. Glad we added this church.
Absolutely fantastic experience and good for all ages and both tourists and locals! Time on ticket is 10:30 where they give you an Audioguide radio and free time to explore the church stalls and learn about its history. Light show started at 11am so if you are running a little behind you won’t miss it and can finish the audio guide after. I figured the light show would just be lights moving around the ceiling but it was a full multimedia experience. Very fun! Will definitely be back in the future with my family. Only thing I want to mention is to use restroom before you go in because there’s no restroom inside the church. They did let us leave and re-enter with our ticket to go find one nearby though. Staff working was very friendly and helpful and they were decorating for Christmas. Beautiful!
amazing experience, beautiful light show on a incredibly beautiful interior. Also appreciated the beautiful music played during the experience
Church is beautiful - but the light show is over priced, endless, overcrowded, goes on forever and has disappointingly piped music. Cut the price of tickets in half and let us visit in peace without the light show! The ceiling is beautiful and speaks for itself; it does not need projections of flowers and angels to make the experience better.
This is the most beautiful display I’ve ever seen in a church in my life. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this piece of art.
Sensational over the top baroque decoration. The light show is unnecessary. The audio guide is informative. Well worth the entry fee.
Do not miss this experience! We thought this was hands down the best experience in all of Spain. The audio guide was very informative and then the lights went down and the real show began. It was spectacular.
A must see! It is a beautiful church. The light show is very beautiful as well and highlights all the amazing artwork.
it was wonderfull, lights historical information and light show was amazing ☺️highly recomended for everyone
Magnifique, Even tho the ticket is a bit expensive considering the size of the church the impressive baroque decoration of the inside are stunning. The building is a fusion of an original Gothic architecture of the 13th century and the baroque decorating insight. Although I was not entirely by the "show" which played with colorful lights and the frescoes, a bit tacky at my advice, I really appreciate the free audioguide included in the ticket. The visit took me approximately an hour.
Fabulous light show and history of the church. This is a must see while visiting Valencia. The renovations since 2013 are amazing.
This Cathedral is majestic. We not only admired the artistic taste of the olden times but also the way it has been restored and still well maintained by the Government. The entrance ticket costs 10 Euros and with a Tourist Suma card you can get a small discount. This fare includes an audio guide that not only helps you navigate through the Cathedral but also gives you a little history behind each art or section. It’s spectacular inside, definitely worth a visit.
Excellet. A beautiful building with a fantastic audio guide, there is also a light show highlighting the works which was unexpected but welcomed. A must visit when in Valencia .
My opening gambit …. I am not religious in any way. However I do like churches for the stained glass and wall/ceiling paintings. In Valencia we came across Església Parroquial de Sant Nicolau de Bari i Sant Pere Màrtir (about a 100yds from the cathedral) it is a beautiful small church. The entrance is down a small alley way and inside is just amazing with wall and ceiling paintings. I paid €8 extra €2 for the audio which brought the place to life. It explained what each wall & alcove and the story the artist is telling us. With audio guide it was about 1 hour but the information gained will help with future visits to Catholic and Orthodox churches.
I loved the audio guide. I was not able to complete the entire narration, but what I heard was very interesting! The ceiling of this Church is truly magnificent!
The Church of St Nicholas, Valencia, is known as the Valencian Sistine Chapel, but I much preferred it to the one in the Vatican, because I didn’t have to queue for an hour and then fight a thousand tourists for space. The interior is stunning, the audio guide was- remarkably, as I don’t often say this- very good indeed, and the staff were rather lovely, particularly the lady looking after said audio guides. It’s very easy to miss the entrance to the church, but worth searching out.
It was a great experience and the audio guide worked really well. January was a great time to visit since not many people and you could really enjoy this amazing place. Just remember that the church is not open on Mondays for tourists.
Absolutely incredible church, founded in the 13th century by Dominicans, and they consecrated the temple to Saint Nicholas. In the 15th century it was extended in a Gothic temple with central aisle. Towards the end of the 17th century they started a baroque renovation. This temple is a perfect example of the coexistence of gothic architecture and baroque decoration. Absolutely the must place to visit in Valencia.
Gorgeous church totally worth the visit. The audio guide is short and to the point. Paintings are gorgeous This is a small church so you’ll be done in 45 min or less
Having seen many churches and cathedrals, this by far is the most beautiful. It is a feast for the senses and the audio guide helps to locate the body and mind within this baroque masterpiece. The ceiling is a masterclass in making you think you are looking at a flat surface but as you move around you start to see that the ceiling has indentations for windows. The imagery on the ceiling matches the chapels below. The alter is an array of paintings, statuary and gold metal work. I took so many photos but they are minor moments when compared to standing in this beautiful place.
absolutley amazing can understand the reason why they say its the sistine chapel of spain it really is breathtaking would advice to pre buy tickets as this saves queuing for a long time that way you can jump the queue as we did and went straight in so well worth it
Visited this beautiful church and was not disappointed. It's pretty much the valencia sistine chapel. It is stunning. The ceilings are stunning. The audio guide came free too which was great to have the history. I would say it's a must see.
Please ensure you visit this beautiful church. The moment you enter and look at the ceiling, you will be in awe of the Incredible work. It's so so beautiful. Best seen in person. They provide audio guides which explains everything so well. They allow you to take pictures and videos. Enjoy the beautiful experience
It was a small church but a very unique church. Audio system and description was also pretty good. Ask in all i would recommend the visit.
I can’t believe that this church is not world famous. The art on the walls and ceilings is incredible. I found it more impressive than the Sistine Chapel. There are some great churches in Valencia but I thought this was the best, by far. Highly recommended.
It’s amazing. The paintings on the walls are incredible. If you are in Valencia, you mustn’t miss. You don’t need to buy ticket in advance.
We had seen many churches while in Spain and this was no exception ! Wow ! Beautiful building, architecture, paintings, statues, all stunning. Free audio guide with tickets. One to put on the TO DO list for sure .
We purchased our tickets with Viator prior to leaving on our trip. There was a long line waiting to purchase tickets and we were waved past them. It was a beautiful church and the audio guide was wonderful. It had music accompanying the key highlights. I never would’ve figured out when looking at each chapel to look behind us and up at the story that goes with it. It had a nice flow of chapels and the beauty was in the ceiling.
Absolutely breathtaking place. Great audio guide as well. You can easily spent 1 hour here. It's really hidden from the outside.
Difficult to find this gem. Thank goodness for google maps, but once we did what a great experience. Absolutely beautiful church and the audio presentation was extremely well done. Would recommend this to anyone.
Popped in for a visit, the last day of April. Sort of pricey. Interior is very nice. The audio guide was more comfortable than the Cathedral, and only skipped the order once. Overall a worthwhile experience.
We went mid morning during the week to avoid the line ups. The church is beautiful. They have restored the colours - get the guided tour (head set) it explains each area of the church. Well worth the trip!!
To get overwhelmed upon stepping into the grandeur of this magnificent work of several artists, architects, & craftsmen is an understatement. 20,000 sq ft of frescoes, angels, poutees on every sides and base of a lunette; gilding to the hilt. This is Valencia’s version of the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel. The initial emotional impact upon setting foot inside, sets the tone to its well-scripted audio guide. I recommend getting the tickets in advance to avoid the queue. It is an experience to remember.
