Great history and good tour. Walking to see the sights and eating in cafes was lots of fun and informative.

Most important thing to know is that it does not actually come with 10 tastings! We had 4 stops, two of which were right next to each other, and 1-2 dishes at each stop. The guide also ended the tour 30 minutes earlier. When we complained to Viator, she told them that we requested an earlier end (which is completely untrue). She was incredibly unprofessional, talking about her family's mental health issues and her relationship with them as well as her difficulties with meaningful friendships in the area. There was no manchego cheese, which was promised in the inclusions, and she was really unknowledgeable about a lot of the questions we asked, including the history of the Christmas house. She promised to take us to the cat house in El Carmen, but didn't. We requested a refund because there were insufficient tastings and the tour company rejected it. Viator very kindly gave us a partial refund, which felt fair and I have no issues with them, but this tour was incredibly disappointing. It has actually put me off food tours because of the poor value for money from this tour.
Valentin was great! So mild mannered and knowledgeable about Valencia and its history. Places he took us for tasting were perfect both in atmosphere and amount. Just an overall great experience with a great guy.
Cesar gave us excellent insight into the tastes of Valencia, we would highly recommend him to anyone seeking out such an experience. The pace was perfect and his insights into the architecture and history of Ciutat Vella between stops was great.
Valentin was a great guide. He told us so much about the city’s history and also about its food culture. We had a wonderful time with great food. You can see he does it with passion. Would love to do it again!
Unfortunately, the tour with Luciana was not very satisfying. We were rushed through the market and didn't get to try anything there. Afterwards, we went to the nearest tapas bar and when we wanted to order something extra, we were refused. The tour ended 15 minutes early because she was already close to her apartment. We were two groups, and the other group had a great guide (Valentin) and was able to try much more. So, unfortunately, the price-performance ratio wasn't right for us. And she wasn't very friendly either.
Compared to other food tours I’ve done I was expecting to learn a lot more about the history and culture of Valencia. It didn’t feel as organized or as professional as my other experiences.
Our private 3 hour food tour with our local guide, Valentín, was excellent. Valentín was passionate about the food in Valencia. We took in the Central Market with some tastings, followed by lunch at a lovely small restaurant and finished with Agua de València at a fun outdoor bar. Valentín also gave us recommendations for local bars and restaurants, at one of which we enjoyed delicious paella. A tour definitely worth doing!
Our guide, Valentin was great! He took us to his favorite places and got to sample lots of different foods. In total 4 stops, but got to spend a good amount of time in the market trying lots of great stuff!! We also stopped at a famous Horchata place, another market for tapas, and finished it off with a cocktail.
This was such a fun way to explore the city and have amazing food along the way. Highly recommend!!!
This was a great tour to experience the local cuisine. Valintine was a knowledgeable guide and took us to places that were mostly visited by locals. We especially enjoyed the tour through the food market, which was amazing to see. We sampled a number of different foods there
We really enjoyed the tour! The food was great and we learnt some interesting things and got great recommendations also for the rest of our trip. We can only recommend Valentín and the food tour! ☺️
A lot of food on this one!! Come hungry but pace yourself. Cesar is a great guide, very personable and he knows the good places!
While I enjoyed the tour, I found it odd that I felt like I was paying to feed the tour guide his lunch
Mimoza was fantastic and provided us with a wonderful tailored experience! We even had to do this a little earlier than normal Spain dinner time (due to an early flight the next day), so she had to really flex the schedule to make it work. She was the best!
We did two tours with Maria: a general guide around the centre of Valencia taking in (amongst others): Central Market; Silk Exchange; the palace housing the ceramics museum as well as a number of churches. InThe second, a foodie tour focussed mainly around the narrow streets of the northern central part of the city (Barrio del Carmen) taking in on the way the streets around the Cathedral and Basilica, Parroquia de San Nicolas and Torres de Serranos. We thoroughly enjoyed Maria’s description of the buildings as well as some of the city’s history. We had three food/drink stops taking in, amongst others, a small former pharmacy turned into a bar. Maria’s English was excellent (having lived in NY previously) as well as her knowledge ( her being a long term resident of Valencia). We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Maria as your guide around the delights of Valencia.
The tour guide never showed. We waited for over an hour. I am very disappointed and expect a full refund. Cesar did call later in the evening and said he had a family emergency. I wanted to get some places to eat as we are here for the week. We have multiple events and do not have time to reschedule the food tour.
Our guide Valentin did a really nice job of picking foods to eat and sights to see and explaining a little culture and history. The food choices were great and he accommodated my shellfish allergy. My favorite dish was the Tomato salad with cured tuna and capers. delicious!
This was a fantastic choice and would do it again. We learned some of the history of Valencia and of the foods we ate. We tasted food that we otherwise would not have known to try. Maria made us feel comfortable and she was very informative. I recommend Maria and this delicious food tour!
Wonderful private food tour around the old city, just me and my wife. Lots of stops, not too much walking, lots of explanations about the city and the food we were tasting.
Valentin was incredible giving us some history of Valencia as well as taking us to taste and drink things we might not have normally tried. Horchata is a must and the tomato salad with the dried tuna on top. Yummy!
A very casual but informative tour for foodies that also want to know more of the “less tourist” trail and some off the beaten track bars, restaurants and cafes.
Great historical information and great food with a local guide. Was perfect for us as a couple. Maria was fantastic! Highly recommend.
We were accompanied on our private tour by our guide for the evening, Valentin. He was a great guide, with an excellent command of the English language, who gave us a local's view of the city, its history, its buildings and off course, its food and drink. The time passed so quickly and it felt like we had spent an evening with an old friend. I would recommend this trip unreservedly to anyone visiting Valencia for the first time or even those who have been before, as the insights into the history of the city are so interesting.
Great experience, Valentín was a fantastic host that introduced us to places we would never think of going to without him. A brilliant introduction to Valencia.
Cesar was fun and knowledgeable! He knew exactly where to take us for delicious treats and history spots!!
3 stops over 2.5 hours . One was a glass of agua de Valencia . So expensive . Interesting dishes tried , saw a few streets we wouldn’t have found . More stops with lighter bites would be a better format so you could see more
We had a great time walking around Valencia and sampling so many different foods. Our guide Danny was great it was like we got a food and history tour!
We had an awesome tour with Danny. He is knowledgeable and personable and clearly knows and enjoys showing the sights of Valencia. We did 10 Tastes of Valencia which was interspersed with Danny’s knowledge of local cuisines together with the history of the city. We had great conversations and would recommend Danny’s tours to anyone wanting to get more deeply into this beautiful city.
Wonderful trip with Maria via Withlocals. Would really recommend it as a fun way to see Valencia with the family. Maria was enthusiastic and fun and very friendly.
Maria was an excellent guide on our walking tour. We had already done a history tour the night before so a lot of the information was a repeat of what we had learned the night before. Not her fault we booked two similar tours. She did lead us to some excellent dining spots we never would have found on our own. I suggest you come hungry to the tour as she is going to fill you up.
Really great time with a great guide who knew so much about Valencia, would highly recommend. Great food and drinks at all the stops. I am sure we would not have found these places without Danny's help.
We have done the tapas experience tour with Valentin. He showed us around the great beautiful old city and told us about history, the typical things of the Valencia people but what we enjoyed most of all, he let us TASTE Valencia! It was an experience of tasting, with a begin and an end. He built it up from sweet to savoury and with the most tasteful drinks it was great! We asked him to talk in Spanish because we have Spanish lessons, but when he thought we didn't understand it, he explained more in English. It happend very naturally. Valentin is very friendly, calm and relaxed person to talk with. He gave us good tips for the next day, so we went to the market, you have to see it! We enjoyed Valencia and learned a lot from Valentin. Good food, good places and good Spanish! Thank you Valentin ! If you’re still traveling we’ve included some more local experiences in Valencia that we're really passionate about. You can also find more unique things to do with locals on your next adventure. Thank you and we hope to see you again on another Withlocals experience.
We had a very inspiring food tour through Valencia by Maria! She led us to special -to us unknown- places with good food and drinken. She also told us inspiring stories about the places and people who work there. In this way we got to learn more about Valencia and the people living here. A big thank you to Maria!
Maria is a wonderful guide and a teacher of history which we love! The food and drinks were delicious. Sampling a bit of eveything and finishing with aqua de Valencia. We had a great time and will book again for one of the other tours. Highly recommended.
Our guide Maria was great and gave us a good introduction to a lot of features in the old town as well as being ready and able to answer questions on a number of topics about the city. The various food stops were all busy (proving just how good they were) but spaces had been pre-booked for us. Maria had selected a great set based upon her detailed knowledge, prior visits to them (and many others) and a deep interest in the subject. A first-class experience.
Maria led us through lots of twists and turns, small alleys and lovely plazas as we tasted our way through old town neighborhoods in Valencia. Maria has lived here for some time and knows the city well. She you took us to little gems with warm, friendly service. We had anchovies, sardines, mushrooms, jamon croquettes, the most wonderful local cheese with tomato jam, olives, vermouth, agua Valencia, local vino blanco and more. It was a relaxing pace and overall a lovely laid back, incredibly tasty tour.
Maria was fantastic. She took us all over the old town and explained a lot of the history of Valencia while we walked. The food was superb and the drinks at each stop were also great compliments to each of the tapas we tried. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone.
Maria was the best! She made us feel right at home from the minute we met. She took us on a wonderful tour of this beautiful city and shared with us the best places to enjoy truly authentic Spanish dishes. By the end of the night, it felt as we had shared the night with a dear friend!
We had a memorable FoodTour with Valentin; we started at 1900 with Horchata and at 22hr we finished with a jug of Aqua de Valencia; in between Valentin treated us with the best tapas at real local places and authentic tastes in combination with Cava and white wine all included in the tour-price! Would certainly recommend it to everyone looking for an real local experience!
We were taken on our tour by Maria who was so lovely and personable and my partner and I found the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. As it was our first trip to Valencia we found it refreshing to learn so much history and information about the area all whilst walking through the streets between stops, tasting some delicious local delicacies at each cafe/restaurant we visited. This tasting tour really is the best way to explore Valencia, it’s traditions, history and the extraordinary food it has to offer. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone new to Valencia and want to give a special thanks to Maria for being such a good host!
This was a very good tour. Our guide spoke excellent English, and it was fun to eat at the different restaurants and try the different foods… All while talking to him and learning about the Spanish culture. We loved it, and absolutely would do it again.
The day of our tour it was actually stormy weather that morning so it was questionable whether the tour would happen. I contacted tour operator (Danny) and he reached out directly and we took a chance at meeting at the designated spot with no problem, just a little bit of rain fizzling out prior to the start. Danny was great. Since I brought my fiance, her mom and another relative who all spoke spanish (2 spoke almost no english at all), I requested the tour in Spanish and luckily he spoke both fluently and was able to give them the full Spanish version and then gave me the cliff notes version in english ;) We walked thru old town Valencia while he gave us some history, took us to several local spots, including the local market, and we sampled delicious foods and drinks. VERY pleased with Danny and this tour, and highly recommend it!!! :)
We were a group of 4, only 1 of which, had visited the city before. Our With Locals guide Maria, provided a perfect guide, showing us places of interest and great little tapas bars, that we wouldn't have found ourselves. For us the tour was informative, without being boring, and with the drinks and tapas, at perfect intervals, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I couldn't recommend it enough. Thank you Maria! Although you may have got us addicted to Agua de Valencia.
We enjoyed every moment of our tour with Maria. She shared so much local knowledge and took us to places we would never have discovered on our own. All the food and drink stops were authentic and outstanding. Would highly recommend.
Danny was an excellent host for our food tour of Valencia, not only did he satisfy out taste buds, but he also fed our minds. Having been in Valencia for the last 8 years, Danny's knowledge of what is good and what is even better is second to none. Both myself and my wife had to agree with him, that the Patatas Bravas were indeed the best we have ever tasted, the Agua De Valencia amazing, and of course the Horchata the sweetest. His advice on where to go and what to eat has been invaluable for the rest of our stay too. We would highly recommend this tour, and would also highly recommend Danny as a charming and affable host.
We had a great time with Valentín on a food tour we planned as a “shore excursion” during a med cruise. We only had a few hours in port but had an awesome time visiting two local food markets, an old gate, and several places to eat and drink along the way. It was amazing having a 1:1 guide and we tried a lot of local food we would have otherwise passed by. We also loved being able to ask a local questions about the area. Great tour, highly recommend!
My friends and I did a food tour with Maria on our first day in Valencia, I could not recommend it more! We had such a great time with Maria! She took us to some lovely spots which we revisited over our next few days in Valencia! A must do in Valencia!
The tour guide was informative and enjoyed talking about Valencia. She shower is the old town and the beautiful churches. The food and wine was amazing. We learned a lot about the wines of Valencia. It was very enjoyable. The venue was quaint and historic.
I highly recommend this tour and our guide, Maria. Maria made our experience amazing and shared some of the history that makes Valencia amazing. The food was absolutely delicious!!!
