Itinerary
It is a full day trekking, it is 14km round trip and about 3hs of hike on the climb, with steep slopes alternating with flat parts. It is an activity of medium difficulty, for which you need good physical condition, you do not need to be an athlete but if you can maintain a pace that is constant. Once the climb is finished we reach the lagoon of the floes where you can see the glacier in the background. The glacier is in retreat so you always see different formations in the ice. During the winter months, the ice caves give us a unique and magical spectacle. When spring arrives, we continue to visit the front wall of the glacier and, snow permitting, the ice appears in all its glory. The lagoon becomes a changing setting, where snow, water and ice mix in celestial and turquoise tones that mesmerize the gaze. With the thaw, the landscape is transformed every day. From this station we no longer enter the caves, because their interior becomes unstable and dangerous. During the summer season when all the snow melts from the mountain, we do a mini glacier trek with Grampones

Lucia and Marcos are beautiful guides, lots of information and easy hike! Amazing views and scenes of winter!
A fantastic day hiking on a blue sky day with great company and the best guide - thank you :-)
This is not an esay hike and I'm happy I got a guide for this one because with all the mud (up to your knees in some sections) and ice, I'm happy I had someone with experience who can lead the way and assure my safety. My guide Tobias was excellent and taught us about nature and wildlife of the area. The tour agency was very professional, they offer equipment rental and gave each participant for the hike - breakfast, lunch and a snack.
A beautiful hike and it was great to do it with a guide. Juan was fantastic and knowledgeable, and made the trip fun for the whole group. I would definitely recommend this trek.
We have booked the activity for December 14. On the 2 days before, while doing other activities, we have met other travelers and other tour guides that told us that the ice caves are closed already for long time due to an access issue and potential collapse. They told us that it is a known issue. Also, due to the weather, the track/trail was not accessible. We realized that there was nothing left to do, other than purpose less walking, as others already told us. As a result, we have contacted the local operator and switched to a different activity : "Night Trekking to Mount Susana" and that one was great. We feel that we have been sold something that was known to be not operational .
A beautiful walk up to the lagoon and glacier. However, it was very expensive considering there was no walking on the glacier, which was not made clear beforehand. And whilst the guide was very friendly, he didn't add much to the experience. It wouldn't have been difficult to organise the actual walk by ourselves had we known there was no actual "ice trekking".
It was a great experience! First of all the organization by Taun Ushuaia team was excellent, with all the necessary information in advance with a minimal number of messages (really appreciated). And we were very lucky to have Joaquin as our guide! We were a small group of 3 people and he very smoothly guided us on a snowy mountain trek! Always respecting our pace, giving us tips on how to trek more effectively, and explaining the majestic landscape around us (the plants, glaciers, etc.). Important to say that me and my partner had very little experience in trekking (actually only hiking). Physical condition is good but still it was a completely new experience for us. Thank you Taun Ushuaia and Joaquin for this experience. We totally reccommend it!
We went on the Vinciguerra Glaciar trek with them and can highly recommend. Everything from transportation to equipment to lunch and tea were top notch and our guide Jaoquin was very knowledgeable and funny!
Very professional trip with an excellent guide in Nico and nice lunch and snack provided complimentary. The equipment provided was also good quality. Very enjoyable day out - highly recommend.
Best glacier trip - we had a great hike with Nico- everything went perfectly and he’s very good explained everything in English and answering all the questions. Highly recommend
We were a group of three (five including our guide and his amazing dog, Kona 😍). The trek was incredible—physically demanding, but worth every drop of sweat and every sore muscle. Along the way, we learned about the local flora and the ecological importance of the turba (peatland). The two main highlights of the hike were the stop by the river and reaching the glacier and ice cave. The views were absolutely breathtaking!!!!
Really enjoyed this trekking! Special thanks to this tour's guides as they were very attentive to the whole group and very professional too.
One of the best tours and treks that I have taken. Our two guides were really knowledgeable, passionate and added to the joy of the trip. We walked gradually up the mountain and stopped for breaks when needed. The glacier is beautiful - a once in a lifetime experience.
18 days into my South American trip and I joined many tours (sometimes two a day). This trekking is still by far the top 3 on my list and I think it will stay there as time goes by. Our guides Inagcio and Juan are amazing! Having two guides for a group max 7 people, you could imagine how attentive they are in the whole process. The trail itself is not difficult but the wind could be very strong. But this just adds a bit more adventure factor to the tour! The ice cave at the end is your reward. Highly recommended!
It was a great experience! Nacho and Dani were very attentive from the beginning, cared about everyone's well-being and safety, coordinated the trekking very well, were extremely patient and kind while we took photos, and best of all, the little dog Adelina made the journey even more joyful
Joaquin was an incredible guide, he was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of our questions on the trek. He also gave the tour in both Spanish and English, which was a lot of effort on his part. He kept a positive attitude, adjusted the things we saw according to what our interests were, and left a lasting impression. I highly recommend this tour, it offers epic views and once in a lifetime experiences. And I also highly recommend the guide.
An authentic and active outing with a great group of people. A fantastic first experience in Tierra Del Fuego. A good choice for those looking for a strenuous yet manageable experience.
Amazing hike. well planned, coordinated, and guided - would recommend to anyone traveling to Ushuaia and looking for an active adventure.
We had a lovely 1-day hike and ice trekking to the Vinciguerra glacier. The people of Taun Ushuaia are there for you from the moment you book until after the end of the hike. Our guide, Lucia, was attentive and friendly. The organization was excellent and the small group size allowed for a better experience.
If you’re interested in doing the ice trek to Glaciar Vinciguerra, I highly recommend booking with TAUN USHUAIA. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and welcoming from start to finish. They also provide a delicious lunch and snacks that exceeded my expectations. The hike itself is beautiful- the lagoon and glacier are breathtaking and well worth the muddy trek up. Shout out to Rodrigo, Gian, and Kona for making this the highlight of our time in Ushuaia!
Holy smokes. It was fantastic!!! Beautiful in sooo many ways, and fun and just the right amount of challenge. Guide Juan was amazing, too.
Excellent trip but hard walk there and back to the glacier requiring a good level of fitness as the walk there of 7km must be done in 3 hours. Enjoyed the walk on the glacier but would have liked more time on the glacier. The guide was helpful and supportive.
A very hard walk, 177 floors equivalent, but worth it. Good guides and prompt pick up, good food supplied.
Lucia and Ignicio are great guides! They are well paced and took great care of every participant! There is rental of trekking wear even you dont have enough so dont worry!
It was something else. Thanks, Juan, for this journey. We had a group of 4 people with a convenient rhythm for all of us Thanks, Taun Ushuaia, for providing materials and organisation of the process
Beautiful hike!. Loved the diverse terrain from the peat bogs to the forest ascending up to the glacier. Facundo was an EXCELLENT guide — experienced, capable and well versed on nature and history. Highly recommend.
Great trail to the Glacier (way up 3.5hrs and 500m ), beautiful view of the glacier and Laguna, small group of nice people, our guide Tobias was very nice and gave lots of tips on the area (plants, glacier, turbia, …). We highly recommend, you need to be in good shape
The tour is fine and you can enjoy it without a doubt. Not very demanding if you ask me after doing 3 much harder in the last week (Monte Fitz Roy or Torres del Paine to name some). The tour guide Juan was good and professional. Not an issue with him. However due to the lower level of his trekking (they put it as medium/hard as it’s a constant uphill path with some plateau areas), many people will book it and they are physically not ready. Unfortunately this is what happened to us and we were extremely slow to the point to desperation (we were constantly passed and overtaken because we were going too slow). We could not do anything as there was only one guide so we need to adapt to the slow person/group in this case. The “funny” part was that the day before this agency was the only one in all the trekking and hiking we have done that asked to filled a document with name, birthday, email, shoe size, physical activity weekly, presence of any disease/condition, etc. why do they do that if at the end it does not really matter? Conclusion: guide was good, the trekking is good and in summer time you can do it on your own as many people are doing and the snow area is not hard if you follow others steps. In winter time better with the guide unless you are a professional hiker
Tàun Ushuaia provided everything that was needed for a perfect day trip. Gian was a super guide, lots of knowledge about the environnement, very open minded, and respect full of everyone.
That day was great! The guides were very professional and always open to help you. It was my first time on a glacier and it was beautiful. I recommend it!
What an amazing and memorable experience this trek was. Lucia is a wonderful guide. I arrived without gear and she made sure I was properly outfitted. She even loaned me her own equipment! Her knowledge, experience and temperament are excellent. We had a great group. I was the only english speaker and I always felt included. The trek was rewarding. Challenging but not difficult. Exactly as advertised. The area was beautiful and the glacier cave was spectacular. And who can forget our stray canine companion Naygro. Lucia took additional time in snowy weather and with another group approaching to make sure I got excellent photos. I highly recommend this adventure and Lucia. I can’t wait to visit again.
Great experience! Ignacio is a very experienced guide and a great photographer! Amazing views!! Would do it again if I am back in Ushuaia.
Excellent experience for people who like to do high-level trekking, without having to be an expert.
The tour and our guide were really great. However, it is worth noting the seasons, as the glacier is not always accessible. We were there in mid-November and the crevasses and caves were all covered with snow, so an ascent was Too dangerous.
A great experience with a very suitable organization. The guides are good advice, the equipment is available and the Mood is super good! All this in a beautiful landscape! 5/5 without hesitation.
Very good to know the glacier. The Enterprise has the entire structure to make the ride. The guide Juan was PERFECT, very attentive all the time
Excellent experience! The guides trained and very attentive to the needs of the group. Super recommended experience with taun!
Our excursion to the Vinciguerra Glacier and the Floe Lagoon was simply spectacular. From start to finish, every moment was filled with beauty and emotion. The landscape gave us unique postcards: the snow on the mountain, the trails surrounded by unspoilt nature and finally the glacier that was the icing on the cake. We want to highlight especially our guides, Juan and Joaco, who made the experience even more special. Their warmth, professionalism and knowledge allowed us to fully enjoy the adventure, feeling safe and accompanied at all times. This excursion is highly recommended to anyone who visits Ushuaia and wants to live a direct contact with the majesty of Patagonia. It is an experience that touches the soul and that we would certainly repeat again.
John the guide a genius, the food we were prepared, the good vibe and the movie landscape. Everything spectacular, super recommended
For the first time in Ushuaia and marveled by its landscapes, this trekking exceeded our expectations, we were lucky to go through almost all the weather! The sun and snow accompanied us along the way, it was magical. Juan our guide was attentive to every need, advising us all the time to take the best of memories, very generous both with us and his colleagues who crossed along the way, that speaks highly of him and where he works, we loved it and we are happy for the day we spent. Thank you Taun for being such nice people🙂
Highly recommended experience! You pass through different types of terrain until you reach the glacier that is a spectacle. The guide Juan very good and always at the attention of the group, allowing an active but relaxed passage, and with good management of the coat according to the temperature. Lunch in tune with the rest of the trekking, exquisite!! If you like trekking, do not hesitate to join!
A beautiful excursion, the scenery makes it worth all the effort. Attention from the administration to the guides always 10, very attentive and friendly 👌🏼✨
Guides are very responsible, careful and attentive. I was impressed with their work. I went to the Vinciguerra Glacier and it was worth it! They arrived on time at the hotel, gave us many relevant guidelines and a delicious snack. I went with guides Juan and Joaquim and I loved to meet them!!! I highly recommend Taun!!!
Thanks to the advice of the boys we decided to make this excursion and it was certainly the best decision we could make. To start highlighting the punctuality, kindness and patience of Joaquin and Aime who were our guides, they certainly have impressive knowledge and very willing to share them. It is a trekking that requires a medium physical condition, on several occasions I struggled to follow the climb and Aime was very patient with me and gave me tips on how to climb, I certainly felt very accompanied and the same with Joaquin to the descent. It goes without saying that the landscape is dreamy, the caves wonderful and the glacier spectacular, however, all that plus a good accompaniment is everything. With my partner we were very happy and we would like to repeat the experience with these genius guides.
Excellent experience the very cupid guys and think about everything. Beautiful day that accompanied a lot. They include vianda and if you lack equipment they have everything you need to give you in the moment. Super recommended !! (alphajors are delicious)
Nice experience, I had never entered a glacier, it didn’t cost me so much the climb, although some told me it was the most tiring. I had to go with facu, a genius great photographer:)
An incredible experience. Definitely one of the coolest I've ever done. The walk begins between a forest and a frozen swamp, walking on ice and snow. Then he begins to climb the snowy mountain, passes through a completely frozen lagoon until he reaches the glacier. There's a cave you go into. And right at that time when we were at the top of the walk it started to snow. It was sensational. Very friendly and attentive guides. I recommend everyone!
Wonderful! At first I thought I couldn't make it. But I really wanted to see these ice caves in the glacier. The two guides were great. They found the right pace for the ascent and descent - and with the spikes provided under the shoes, it wasn't that hard. The view and ice caves were fantastic. Super!
A unique experience, surrounded by imposing landscapes and guided by a team that conveys passion, security and warmth.
