We had a layover in Ushuaia and time to fill before we boarded a boat late in the afternoon. We had signed up for the double decker bus tour before starting our vacation but had wondered if we should have signed up for a walking tour. We enjoyed the bus tour; it was a bit hokey but fun. It is a pre recorded audio which comes in different languages. The bus is old but functional. The driver and host/hostess were very friendly. It stops a couple of times so you can get out and see the views of the area and the employees are generous about taking photos of you in front of the views. We learned more about Ushuaia’s history, got to see the town in a short period of time (no worrying about being late to board) and since it was raining off and on all day we got to do it from the enclosed upper level of the bus!

This was a great way to see the city and surrounding neighborhoods of Ushuaia. Arrive about 15 minutes early and show your voucher to them ( they have their uniforms on.) an and in return they will give you a small ticket. At the start the commentary was sll in English and Lila did a great job. She was very friendly and nice snd give us lots of information about the history and developments about Ushuaia. The driver and commentator were very interesting and helpful It was a great way to see a lot of the surrounding areas in the “ valley” of the mountains. I would recommended this it was just under 2 hours. (Note: The bus is light blue and picks you opposite the main tourist information center on side of main road.)
Overall fine. I was in seat 1A and there were 2 nails that stuck up through the edge of the cushion which was pretty uncomfortable. The first @ 10-15 minutes of the information broadcast was very difficult to hear so we missed quote a bit. The person speaking had a very quiet voice. The last part appeared to be a recording with much boost voices which was much better. It would also be helpful if the hosts reminded people to keep talking to a minimum as we had several very noisy people around us.
good weather heard the softies behind the building and the history of the area. Good way to get a walking tour created
Again, a typical hop-on-hop-off bus experience, although on a smaller scale. Great way to orientate you to Montevideo. We didn't hop on or off as the busses dont come around that regularly. Still a great way to see the city.
The bus is very easy to find. I recommend to do this on one of your first days to get oriented in Ushuaia. The narration is also very informative about the town's history.
The tour only lasted an hour the bus was warm and comfortable with a good driver and his sister. Not a great deal to see but a good overview especially if it is raining. Narrated well. Not at all expensive.
I will preface this review by saying I took it after 6 days in Antarctica so most everything will Palermo in com0arison to that. It was basic and was on older busses so a bit lackluster. Commentary was minimal on the sites. It did make 2 photo stops that were of very beautiful scenery.
Great little tour of the city. Very informational and staff was fantastic! Can get a little bumpy on the top but would still recommend!
The tour was very informational, we saw lots of good spots and heard lots of good details. Getting out and taking pictures at scenic spot was fantastic! Plus, the skinny stairs up to the top deck was interesting and felt straight out of a book or movie.
The buses are infrequent so be prepared to see buses full of people when it arrives to your stop. The stops are at interesting sites but bring rain coats because it rains any time it wants so would be helpful when one is enjoying outdoors.
The scenery! Just wow! Nice to see different part of the city and its culture The view from the hill top was mesmerizing
It was OK...felt like the stop on the hill and stop at Devils pond were unnecessary and unimpressive. There should have def been a stop at the Ushuaia sign. ESPECIALLY since we passed it on the way back towards the end of the tour. Felt like it was overpriced for what it was...should be more like $10...maybe $15.
I would recommend this excursion to a friend, but with a detailed explanation, so they didn’t have false expectations. The folks at the excursion were friendly and accommodating. The “old-school” bus added to the experience. The tour took us to places we wouldn’t have gotten to on our own, but the information and level of detail provided was minimal. It would have been great to get a bit more detail about the things they were pointing out. It would have enhanced the tour a great deal.
We were only in Ushuaia for a day and a half, and wanted to make the most of our time. This was definitely my favourite activity during that time. It is a historic double-decker bus which has so much charm as soon as you walk in. service is absolutely exemplary. Starting from where you purchase the tickets, to the actual tour itself, it was amazing. Our bus driver was Javier, and the English speaking tour guide was Thomas. Both Javier and Thomas were so helpful with all of the tourists by taking photos, and making sure that everybody enjoyed the tour. Thomas is incredibly knowledgeable, and was able to share so much information during the tour which we greatly appreciated. Not only is Thomas incredibly intelligent, he is a genuinely kind hearted person who truly wants the best for everyone. He is going to go very far in the tourism industry. He has a perfect personality, as well as the knowledge to provide a great experience for the English speaking tourists… Of which there were many! Javier was always there as well to make sure that the tour around smoothly, and to help whenever it was needed. This is not your regular tour where it is only pre-recorded historical information about the places you see. Thomas was also able to provide a personalized experience by sharing his knowledge as well. The time went by so quickly, and we appreciated that it stops twice for everyone to get out and take photos. it was definitely the highlight of our time in Ushuaia. A big thank you to Thomas and Javier for making the extra special for everyone.
Ushuaia is magical! It's a small southernmost city in the world and it's very navigable by foot. It's clean, safe and a wonderful place to start the journey and embark expedition ship to Antarctica!
Stumbled across the bus tour while we stopped at visitor center for information - right by each other. It was about 1-1/2 hours, provided some great town history along with a couple stops to get off bus. It was a great value for only $10USD
Great and fun information from hosts and my family & friends enjoyed every minute of the tour. They stop to take great pictures in beautiful places.
Quick option to catch a last minute tour. We paid USD 10 ea. for 1.hr 30 m ride. Very polite guides and perfectly suited for the place.
Good overview of Ushuaia. Bus was easy to find. Departed on time. Pre-recorded commentary in English and Spanish. Other languages available via ear buds. Only issue was that some passengers talked over the commentary and there was no one to ask them to be quiet so that others could hear. There was a driver and another person on board, but they were downstairs and all the passengers were upstairs.
It was an enjoyable tour, but it was pouring rain, so none of us got out at any of the stops. What did concern me was that we were all in the upper level, and I really did not feel comfortable being right next to people during this time (COVID). It was crowded. We did appreciate the volume of the narrative, as it was easy to understand. I do not know if the people behind us could hear as there were screaming children (not babies) on the bus, and their parents did not quiet them. I loved listening to the history of Ushuaia.
You feel you are totally upside down standing at the end of the earth. "NOT" sleepy city, Hard Rock Cafe, junk shops, the yellow church, the train to no where. Make sure you get you signed certificate at the tourist office. Also free wifi inside the office.
Again, this is a good little trip within an easy, gentle walk from the ship. we got to the bus earlier trip.We were there on a Sunday so most places were closed. This didn't detract from a fun morning spent . AND much cheaper than the onboard trip
It was a lot of fun ! Also , it took us to places that we had not visited in previos trips. We had a very windy day and enjoyed the day very much
The tour was fine. Ushuaia is not a big place so seeing it by bus was one way to do it. After the tour, we walked around the port area and went into some shops that had some very good sceneries set up inside their sovenier shops.
Nice tour of Ushuaia on an old double decker bus. Good value for money. Took just over an hour, so gave us plenty of time to do other things. Got to see stuff that we might of missed on foot.
We enjoyed our tour around Ushuaia. It was prerecorded and easy to understand. The driver was good and we felt safe.
Enjoyed our city tour, only there for 1 day from a cruise ship so ideal. Easy access to bus on main road behind tourist office.
We needed a short tour and this was perfect. One hour for a very reasonable price. The bus drove us all over town and up into the hills, stopping at a small airstrip for a photo-op with great views of the harbor and the city. Good commentary and music, too.
Quirky way to see Ushuaia if you have limited time there. Old fashion bus that takes you on a hour tour around.
We booked a 10:30 tour but got off the ship early and they let us do the 8:30 one. Another couple was with us who hadn’t booked but they paid $10 each cash and got better seats than we did while the guy was checking our booking! The narration was taped and in English and Spanish with other languages available with headsets. Since It was on tape rather than in person, some talked during the narration and at times it was difficult to hear. It was decent for the price but I was very disappointed that it did NOT go to the base of the old ski lift to see the glacier up closer as it says in the details on the booking page. That was one of the main reasons we booked it as another tour did not mention it but I think they must all be the same. So we hired a taxi to take us there after the tour and to other highlights we missed.
It was an excellent introduction to Ushuaia, we did a big loop around the city which gave us a better idea of the city.
The bus was full, and we were the last ones on, however our seats were already booked and allocated! We had the best seats on the bus! The route is a bit rough and rickety but we really enjoyed ourselves.
The double decker bus was easy to find. We were early and asked if we could go on the bus that was ready to leave. No problem at all ! Announcements made in English and Spanish and I think other language options were available. Great tour and we would recommend it
We bought our ticket at the gates of the cruise port and were told to wait across the road. We did so and the bus drove straight past. The girl shout it would be back around so we waited.... for an hour..... it drove past again and this time we chased it to find a stop round the back of the building we were told to stand in front of. The bus did respect the error and put in a seat that was spare as they are all assigned to your ticket. Well the tour was good, the bus a little out of shape but that added to the fun really. All in all worth the 20$ each
A slow, cramped, charming tour. The bus shows you a lot of neighborhoods and a few geographical features. It is cramped. It is very slow. It also stops once so you can take photos and it is a nightmare loading and unloading everyone.
The tour is a good experience. The guide was nice. The city is so beatifull and the inhabitants are very cordial.
Tour lasts only 1 hour and takes in the sights of the city with only 1 stop which is at highest point giving panoramic views. Usuaia does not have a huge number of things to see but bus takes you pat all of the things worth seeing.
Let's face it, an hour is never enough to see Ushuaia. However, if you don't have much time, this tour does a pretty good job giving you a good glimpse of Ushuaia. There are some nice picture spot also. Be sure to book well ahead and know the exact locations and be there in advance.
There was a choice of three time slots for this one hour tour - 1030, 15.30 or 17.30. We did the first one, and the bus pretty well filled up with some couples unable to sit together, so get on board early if you can. It left from just near the Tourist Centre, and while the bus is old and noisy, there was an on board commentary in English and stops at various places for photos. The tour was informative and gave a very good overview of the city in this quite fascinating part of the world.
Great Local Transportation. Unfortunately, it was quite WINDY, The top Deck was already filled. I Wish we had more time to go around again. Thank You, Kathy
This was a quick (it is a small place) overview of the city/town. The audio highlights were clear and informative. Ushuaia is a nice town in a spectacular setting at “The end of the world”. Worth the money.

This was a relaxing fun bus ride around Ushuaia. The ride was comfortable and the commentary was good.

A good way of seeing most of the interesting parts of the town and surronding areas.

It was a hard slog up the steep hills to get our ticket from the agent, but the trip was excellent with good historical commentary and took us to good viewpoints.

A good fun tour which gave us a good view of the sites and history of Ushuaia.

Old bus, tight between the seats, information went in Spanish and English, and cutting Tango music in between talking,. Asked if they could silence the sound, but no, since talking went on the same tape. Had 2 stops, one on a bend, with a nice view, the other by a small lake, no one understood why we were shopping there, a lot of people on the bus gadd not to walk out. The trip to 1 hour and 15 minutes, was not the money they took.
We consider this bus tour a must in Ushuaia. The comment is interesting and most of the places visited could not be seen otherwise.
Very good tour of the city. Recommended excursion if you want to see any of the points of the city, good quality price
