We booked the Navegacion Pinguinera through Excursion Austral travel agency and the process was very easy and fast. The catamaran ride was pleasant, with lots of info received during the sailing, we viewed lots of birds and animals, and on our way back the catamaran had an extra stop because we spotted a whale. All in all, a nice exerience that worth every penny (well, pesos 😊)
Worst experience ever! Do NOT go with this company. Myself and at least 5 others who I happened to speak with on the tour were all upset and disappointed. After MANY hours of siting inside a boat we finally got to the penguins. You had to wait in line so everybody on the boat had a chance to look. But the people who paid for photos were in the way of all of the photos that I wanted to take. I literally got two minutes to look at the penguins. During my 2 minutes, another boat came by and literally blocked the entire Colony of penguins to the left.So you could only see a tiny bit. They said we could wait in line again to see them again , but the captain decided to leave after ten minutes , total with the penguins. Absolutely outrageous. Do not go. Go to Tombo if you really want a good penguin experience. Btw, I contacted the operator and they didn't even bother to respond to me.
This tour realized my expectations to view the scenery and wildlife of the Beagle Channel. The boat was comfortable with adequate areas to view and photograph. Coffee and snacks we're available on board. Staff is friendly and good explanations were provided of the area we traveled through. I'm happy to recommend this trip and company.
Very good boat trip, with excellent views of the Beagle Channel and the lighthouse and some amazing animal sightings (sei whales, sea lions, 1 seal, cormorants, terns and many penguins - Magellanic, Gentoo and 1 king penguin!, 1st March). Book direct with company via WhatsApp to save money. They were mostly good at communicating and changed the day for us at no extra cost when our flight was cancelled. We are glad we chose this instead of the 'walking with Penguins' trip as it we got almost as close (if not as close) to the penguins, we were high up on the boat so we could see them swimming, plus it was much cheaper. The only thing that let the trip down was a lack of information about wildlife spottings in the moment e.g. did not announce whales we saw, later announced whales but did not specify side of the boat so we missed them and did not explain the different types of penguin colony or point out the lone king penguin to everyone. Luckily we've done lots of boat trips so knew what to look out for!
I am not particularly fond of boats and was worried that this would be boring, but this was the highlight of my trip to Ushuaia. The boat was comfortable with a nice cafe to buy food in (something I didn't think I would do, but did). We saw lots of wildlife including a whale. We pulled right up onto the beach with the penguins and we saw so many of them. It was the most delightful experience watching the penguins up so close. We could even see them swimming in the water because it was so clear. I think I could have stayed and watched the penguins for hours. Understandably, we didn't, but we were given lots of time to enjoy them. The captain of the boat was also very friendly and let people come in and steer and take pictures.
The sights on this tour are amazing, particularly the penguins. The boat was large and stable but a little crowded. We took this trip as a cruise excursion and were told it was a 4 hour tour........it took almost 5 1/2 hrs, which impacted plans we had later in the day. I looked at the company web page and it indicated approx 5 hours.......be aware when you book.
We did the 5 hour morning boat tour to isla martillo (penguin island) and back including lighthouse and nearby islands. We paid $50US per person reserving day before at their hut. It’s very scenic and despite what some have said I wasn’t disappointed with the wildlife (birds of all sorts including Magellan, gentoo and even a solitary king penguin, see pics.) While we didn’t get off the boat we pulled right up onto the beach and were 15-20 ft from the penguins which is closer than I’ve been to them on land. Very nice assortment of very reasonably priced food and bev to buy (including waiter service) or you can bring your own. About 100 people aboard but very comfortable (get there early for good seat) and the staff was friendly and bilingual guide had great info. This gets cancelled often due to water and wind conditions so plan it in the morning in your first day so you have another chance if it gets cancelled. Warning: it got pretty rough and lots of barfing on the way back so if you get seasick take Dramamine and beware.
The boat and trip are both nice, you have a café inside to buy snacks. The tour guide inside tries really hard to give you explanations around the place with a microphone. It is just a pity that out of the more than 10 speakers in the boat, only 1 or 2 are working, making it hard from anyone not sitting right next to him to listen to what he says.
Just a heads up, you will see very little penguins, and from far away. The guide explained to us after that you can see the penguins in January, and until then they will hibernate, which is why you can't see them. No worries. On the boat there is a cameraman that takes photos and then tries to sell them (the photos are of an amateur quality). He will get aggressive in asking customers to move out of the way so he can try to take photos in the viewing positions. When reminded that the customers have already paid, and it might be a better approach if the boat circled the island so that everyone can see, he will snarl that he no longer speaks English. Give this a miss unless you are there in January
By catamaran to the birds, sea lions and penguins plus unexpected visit from a whale - highly recommended!
We've been hiking today at 9:00 a.m. They explained that to see the penguins, they make sure that all the people turn on the boat so that they can see them all, since the boat is still and if not, those who are not in the front row of the outside of the boat could not see it. Nothing further from reality, people were not moving from the front and workers were not doing anything to make them comply. Not even telling them we couldn't see it has they done anything to fix it. After paying 160 euros per person, we have seen the penguins from afar and over the people. Very bad service.
The starting time was 15hs. We ran fast and ran to get there on time. They kept us waiting 40 minutes until we left. The tour lasted no more than 2 hours. The photos we were taken were terrible nothing to do with the proposal.
It was a beautiful experience 💖, it was broken by the guide, who was botanical, received at the UBA.A boy of Asian features.Apart from his great charisma, his knowledge and his tone of voice had an almost supernatural capacity for the trip to have everything dreamed of.
Que es algo que no deben perderse porque es un espectaculo unico lleno de ternura y asombro que moviliza mucho
I'm writing to report the terrible service provided by the company. No one has contacted us at any time even to provide information. When we arrived at the venue, we were informed that the catamaran had left at 9:30hs unlike 10:30hs informed in the voucher. We had made other programs for the afternoon to see the sunset and solar eclipse, but unfortunately we will have to resume the tour for 15:30hs. At no time have we even been apologized for the disruption. Bad experience.
Spectacular!!!! It was worth it. With a guide that gives you information at every moment. I don't touch the joy of seeing 3 whales and dolphins along the way. The super attentive crew. VERY recommendable
5 hours of excursion for a total of almost 4 hours of actual navigation and approximately 1 hour of sightings. Given that we didn't like the feeling that it was a boat-restaurant aimed at tourists (on the catamaran there is practically a kind of sandwich shop: people drank - they sell whole bottles of wine - and ate all the time), the thing what annoyed us the most was seeing that the catamaran went all the way to the beach to see the penguins, running aground just a few meters from the penguins. If we had known, we would never have booked the tour. If they continue like this, soon there will be no more colonies (already the one we saw had very few specimens...). Furthermore, they offer private tours with covered dinghies, which even drop tourists off on the island... Generally unorganized; if you have the eticket they still tell you to queue at the ticket office (where they print the paper...: but what's the point...?), except then once you get to the catamaran they just ask you for the eticket 🥲 the nice and kind guide, a little long-winded in the explanations. The experience itself is so-so…we got off smelling like fried food, a little disappointed….
What a wonderful experience. Coming from the Caribbean and having the experience of seeing sea lions, whales and 3 types of penguins!!! The trip on the catamaran was pleasant without movements. The young woman was explaining the attractions of the journey. Punctual and precise in his itinerary. For me that has a lot of value.
The caramaran lost electricity at the beginning of the excursion so there was no water or lighting in the bathrooms, the bar or the audio guide did not work. The damage lasted until we had already started back. The company minimized the incident as if it were normal to pay for quality service and receive a bad one.
It is the second time I did it and I loved it again. We could see the fauna, take photos.Very good Photography Service of the boat.
While the walk is pleasant, it is almost impossible to get a good photo, every time you approach the point of interest, all the people cram and you can not get a photo, let alone a good, very short time at each point. Although the use of the chin was mandatory, no one demanded it, a very crowded place, many hours all closed, we all ended up clumping. It should be noted that they filled the lower compartment and did not enable the upper one.
the nice walk. They did not want to give us an electronic invoice, therefore it is not valid for the pre-trip, they refused to make it. Be careful, as they lose the value paid.
It is a pretty cool tour, with stops near the islands to see the birds, sea lions and penguins. The best is when the catamaran “parks” on the beach full of penguins – it is not allowed to go down, but we are so close that we can see the funny way they interact – we recommend!
Beagle Channel sailing with several stops to admire the lighthouse, sea lions, cormorants, albatrosses and approach to Magellanic Penguin Island, pleasant experience and knowledgeable staff.
It was a beautiful experience, the boat impeccable, the attention unbeatable.-It is an expensive but worthwhile excursion.-Beautiful views, comfortable boat with good vision, it is very enjoyable.-
We contract the excursion with Canoero Catamaranes, very good Service. We opted for the classic (bird islands, wolves and Lighthouse Les Eclaireurs) more peking and it was a good experience. The vessel circles and stops at the three iconic points and then sails to Hammer Island. There it is “parked” on the shore which makes it possible to spot and interact with penguins. The return added adrenaline given the wind and swell and highlighted the containment of guides and crew and the fact that they cleaned the glass of the vessel allowing a spectacular view of Ushuaia on arrival at the port.
The care of the ship, the attention of the crew with the passengers, the bilingual guide and of course the views that are indelible.
It was a wonderful trip!! Very good vibes and beautiful scenery! You get so close to the penguins that he seemed to be standing on the island. Thank you so much for everything
We made the excursion on Monday 4/11 as a group. Excellent attention and tour, we had a very nice time. Thank you!!
We had a good time, thank you very much for your services and good vibe, it was an unforgettable trip for us thanks to you💕
We sailed for about four hours through the canal and sighting the islands of birds, wolves, lighthouse and finally hammer island. We had already been warned that there was not yet a large colony of penguins, yet we could see and photograph them. The catamaran is comfortable, has a very good Coffee Service on board. The guide provides information throughout the navigation and provides maps, photos or books if required. It was a very enjoyable walk, we did it in the afternoon from 16 but still with enough time of light until the return.
