The end of the world train that didn’t really go to the “end of the world”. It was just a name of a train station, beautiful view but that was it for 2 hours round trip. Would be more worth it if you have time to go hiking at the park. However, I’d rate this train ride 1/10. Not what we expected and staffs were not helpful at all. IMPORTANT!!: this ticket is only for a train ride, you’ll also need a ticket to the national park even if you were not gonna step inside the national park. Overall we spent about US$150/2 person just for a view.

The national park is gorgeous and worthwhile but the train is certainly not! They charge $65CAD per person to go barely 1km! The views from the train are nothing you can’t see in a car and a car is needed to go to most of the sites in the park. The train does not take you to the post office or the end of the pan American highway. Save your money and rent a car or taxi to explore the park
I really enjoyed this experience - the bit of history they share over the headsets on the way to and from the Park, the stop at the Cascada Macarena, and the communication and help of the staff. I was on the first train so I could do some hiking in the Park before going back, and the agent was extremely helpful in letting me know what hikes I could - and shouldn't! - do in order to make it back in time for the last train. The ride itself was very serene and relaxing, and I would do it again.
Beautiful day for a train ride! Two hour ride out and back (you can get off at the National Park station, just make sure you have a pre-arranged ride, there were a couple of taxis available). Recorded information via supplied headphones was informative about the history of the railway and Ushuaia prison. Staff was very friendly and courteous, speaking Spanish and English. They do say no drinking or eating while onboard but nearly ever was enjoying a snack and their “Mate” with no hassle from the staff.
Tourist trap from the moment we arrived at the train station. Not worth the price of the ticket when they pack you like sardines into these tiny rail cars. It is painfully slow, which I think is done on purpose to give you the impression of getting your money’s worth. The saddest part is there is nothing scenic about the ride. For the majority of it, you are just staring at trees in a forest. There are no awe inspiring vistas or scenic overlooks. Save your money and skip this.
We believe it’s a must - great get around the park and it uncovers a very interesting piece of history. However, note that it’s very relaxed, takes only a few hours - definitely touristy - and you can easily combine it with another activity (we did the Esmeralda hike right after!).
It is very quaint where you buy your ticket, and within there is also a shop and restrooms. This was a wonderful journey through the Nature park, and it was good to listen to the history and all about the prisoners. Each section within a carriage holds six people, so it can be crowded. The train stops in which you have the chance to get out and see the sites. It is great to say I've been to the end of the world 😊
Not as advertised. The entire trip was very underwhelming. Dont believe what you see on instagram and tiktok. Nothing really to see other than a small waterfall
Lovely people, an old story, and that feeling of actually living inside it. Being on a train is already magical and of course, delicious food! ♥️
Could have been enjoyable but we were crammed, six adults to each car, maybe 6' x 6', with or knees in each other's groins. Told to select channel two for English on the audio system but all we heard was Spanish. The controls were next to our hips and almost totally inaccessible once you sat down. I was just able to squeeze my hand between my hip and the wall to turn the dial, hunting to English. Scenery was pretty as were the waterfalls but the severely cramped conditions ruined the trip. We went in Winter so I cannot imagine what the trip would be like in Summer with no air conditioning. Even so, the air was stuffy as we couldn't reach the small windows at the car top to get some fresh air.
What a joke is this ? Why would they charge $65 for a basic kids ride.. Total Rip off… scenery is ok also nothing even impressive.. Should had looked at the reviews before doing this…
I should have listened to the more critical reviews and should have acted accordingly. An totally overpriced experience given the current FX rates (approx. 65 CAD/person) plus "surcharge" for the national park (30 CAD/person) for a 7 km train ride through nice, but not breathtaking landscapes. The only selling point" southernmost train in the world", but what is the point... My guess: the price per kilometer track is probably another world best... kudos though to the nice people who run the operation
Terrain very boring Very over-priced at £60 a head for 1.75 hours. Not even a round trip - reversed up line same way we came. No animal life of any description. Very slow approx 5 miles per hour. Staff were very friendly on the plus side.
The tren is a unique Ushuaia experience. The main station is nice and has snacks and a gift store. We had no lines at the ticket office. Easy signage to line up. Your own compartment on the cute train. Multiple languages to listen to the history. Just a nice, slow, pleasant way to see a different part of Ushuaia.
Honestly, if you’re not flush with cash, fine to give this a miss and head straight into the national park for some hiking.
This was one of those must-do experiences while visiting Ushuaia for us. You'll need to buy both a ticket for the train and entrance into the national park. The station has a small cafe and gift shop while you wait for the train to depart. Overall it was a pleasant experience, although the ride back to the start did start to get boring since it was the same scenery in reverse. There's a recording you can listen to that tells of the history of the train in multiple languages, including English. It did seem a bit commercialized with the obligatory photo before boarding they try to sell you. Still worth a visit to check the box in Ushuaia.
Our main reason for visiting was the highly-touted Post Office at The End of the World. But the attraction didn’t bother to tell anyone that the post office was closed permanently earlier in the month. To make matters worse, unless you are 5”6 or under, the non-premium seats cannot fit a person larger than that height, and there is no place other than the floor or your lap to put a coat, backpack or whatever you are carrying. The train makes available an audio which is likely from 30 years ago and is very hard to hear. Finally, you have no choice when boarding the train other than to run the gauntlet and be forced to take a picture with two fake “convicts” and are then given the hard sell to buy this very commercialized photo. In sum: $60 per person to “enjoy” no main attraction, cramped seats, commercialized hard sell and horrible audio. The forest and area are pretty.
Over rated expensive uneventful. Tourist trap. Pass to enter park is mandatory and not explained and shouldn’t be required . Makes it a very expensive event at twice the price as advertised. Not worth the effort
My wife and I only took the round-trip train ride without meals, personal guide, or hiking in the National Park. A fee to enter the National Park was required in addition to the train ride fee. The train ride lasted about one hour 45 min with a 20 min stop to climb a pathway next to cascading water down the mountain side. The stop also allow the purchase of a framed photo taken of you interacting with actors dressed as prisoners before boarding the train. You are provided with ear-phones to plug into each seat of the train's audio system to select your language of choice to hear about the train tour that provides the history of the place; you will see remaining tree stumps of trees harvested for wood by prisoners in the past, a lot of scenery and some horses during your ride. We had purchased a round-trip bus ride from Ushuaia to the train station; we elected to arrive an extra one hour early to view/photograph the various displays at the station.
Excellent Tour with Exceptional Treatment! Food and wine was delicious. Train education and stops were informative and well planned.
This little train trip takes you for a 7 km ride into the national park. Interesting history and scenery.
Great views, the photo you take at the beginning is an optional purchase later on. The weather at the stations is super cold but the train is warm.
This was really cool, we'd seen some of the best scenery in the world and now we were riding a miniature train to the End of the World - and I lived to tell the tale! There was a stop at a pretty waterfall and some funny antics by the local convicts who clearly had been left behind by the penal colony. I thought this was a cool thing to do, really enjoyed it.
Very well organized, informative, spectacular scenery. I opted for the food aboard the train and it was well prepared and some nice chocolates also were provided.
Meh… underwhelming to say the least. I guess it’s a to do thing because you’re down there but felt very basic.
We went into the end of the world train tour with a lot of expectations. Unfortunately, we ended up a little disappointed. The train is a bit too cramped for space and not very ideal for viewing the outside.
Wow. This was a great experience going to the end of the world. The scenery was indeed snowy and cool. A must have experience when in Ushuaia. My friends and I were amazed of the city. Tierra del Fuego Park was a gem. Bravo!
I love trains so for me this was great. It is though a very touristy attraction and you don't go very far. In saying that, the nature is beautiful and the train itself is lovely and quaint.
It’s an interesting stop if you’re in Ushuaia - it’s very touristy and we thought more aimed for children. It is educational and well done, just not what we expected.
At 60k ARP, about AUD90, the (diesel, not coal) train was already expensive. The train itself is cute and the views in the national park were worth a trip, but better to see the national park another way. It wasn't until after we bought our tickets that we discovered we still had to pay for entry into the national park - even though we never set foot on it. All up, we paid 90k ARP per person for a trip that was worth about 15k ARP.
Not sure what I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t what we got. The train journey was pathetic, you have to pay to enter the national park ( literally standing on a train platform for 10 minutes) Staff were pushy and tried to get us to buy a photo of the “experience” even following us back to the train and knocking on the window . I don’t think I’ve ever wrote a bad review before but made an exception for this con!!! Save your money is my personal advice.
Very informative and easy to navigate. Loved learning about the start of Ushuaia. Highly recommend for a quick tour
We enjoyed this experience. We hired a tour company and purchased premium tickets and it was well worth it because we did not have to stand in line. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. It is a tourist spot but when you travel to see places, so do others. Enjoy the beauty of it!
The train journey was dull and overpriced. The smell of burning oil throughout was unpleasant! Recommend hiring a car or arranging a taxi to visit the beautiful park at your own leisure. Era muy aborrido!
Yes, this is a touristy thing to do, but we enjoyed it. You get some of the history of Ushuaia and the prisoners who served out their sentences there while creating the foundation for the town. The day we went was freezing and wet (in summer), so the train was the perfect activity. The breakfast and drinks were nicely done, and staff were wonderful.
This is an amazing experience. The history is so unique. The scenery is jaw dropping Great service. Brilliant guide Both the headset service on the train. And the guides who supplement this. Do not miss. It’s fantastic
For a region with one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, we thought the train would offer great views. We were wrong. You travel through a small valley with chopped tree trunks while listening to an audio about poor conditions for prisoners. At US$62 per ticket plus Park entry fee fees,it is completely not worth it!
This was a fun, short trip. It is very well organized and there is an audio tape in many languages that describes the history of the train. Buyer beware: I reserved via Viator because I was afraid the reservations would run out. However, it costs me $28 more per person than if I had just bought directly from the website.
It’s a once in a lifetime chance to experience this journey. And if you want, you can take a trek down to where the last post office once functioned. Sadly it’s now closed, apparently, it’s said for renovations. How sad it’s been let deteriorate and now forced to close due the local government lack of investment, when this tourist attraction has been a dollar income for many years.
Scenic ride in the fairytale setting of Tierra del Fuego National Park. Mountains, trees, meadows, river, waterfalls, free roaming horses. Train ride was nice thing to do. Walking to the coast to the End of the World post office is worth it for amazing views of sea and mountains.
We went to the train at the end of the world and Tierra del Fuego national park.It was extremely disappointing as the highlight was to visit the Post Office at the end of the world and it was closed down. No one explained this until we boarded the coach to go on this tour.It cost 8000 pesos for the admission to the park (80 dollars)and the train was 259000 pesos (260 dollars) for 2 people. What we got was a train ride through a forest and visited a lake and the end of route 3 which had been set up for tourists. It didnt feel like the end of the world as we were surrounded by mountains. The national park is just a drive through forested area and could be anywhere remote. People should be aware of this mediocre tour.
This train is not worth the time or money. It is expensive and lame. The train ride is short & it stops at the park for a very short time, but you must pay the park entrance fee of $40USD per person.
It was good. I enjoyed it but it is overpriced. There is not much to see and the gift shop prices were ridiculously high. I bought nothing because of that. The extra charge for going into the park made this an expensive couple of hours. The people in my carriage felt the same way as I did.
How amazing to be at the end of the world! The train took us through some beautiful scenery and the talk of the history of the area was incredible. If you have the chance do it.
Tourist trap with 1 curated spot for photos (12 dollars each of course). No idea why it's so highly rated. The train goes at 5km/h (3 mph) with no interesting sights at all. I give it 2 stars because the staff is kind.
It was an Awful experience. Train ride was to nowhere. Views are great, but we were treated as cattle...
It's a good experience to have, but not a must. Views are scenic. Maybe it is more scenic in winters as we went in October. We went by train and returned by road.
The train service is punctual and it goes deep into the forest with beautiful scenery. It stops at the end of the railroad and got free time to go out the station to view the woods or stay at the park. Great people working there and nice gift shop.
This would have been better if paired with a hike or bus tour into the park. Without this information, we booked the later afternoon trip and it was only a train ride out and then right back the same way. If that’s all you want, fine. We wanted a bit more activity.
aspart of a recommendation to someone else I would want to be clear about what to expect. The activity was well organized upon arrival. The staff was great and helpful. It was fun to see and experience the train ride itself. The whole aspect of accessing/exploring the park and not being able to return to the starting point until 4:00 PM was unclear and would have been helpful to know on the front end of the trip. As it turned out details about the park were sketchy and as a result we had not opportunity to explore although we enjoyed the scenery while on the train ride.
