On our day of trekking it rained most of the time. It was still a great experience and our guide Mica made sure the path we travel was the safest / easiest. Given the conditions our pace was slower than normal. We walk for approximately 2.5 hours in and then out. The scenery was beautiful. I think the rain made some of the colors more vibrant.

The stand‑out excursion of our entire South America trip. Our small‑group trek ended up being just the two of us plus one other guest, guided by Manu. Manu judged the pace perfectly — enough to keep us moving but with time for photos and to take in the scenery. He was informative, thoughtful and even chose a quieter alternative route back from the lagoon so we could enjoy different views away from the crowds. The landscape was absolutely breathtaking and this really is a must‑do experience. The packed lunch was hand‑made, generous and clearly prepared with care, and we appreciated the hot drink at the lake. Walking poles were provided too, which some people will find helpful. Pick‑up and drop‑off were smooth and straightforward - the driver was Marcio. They’re very clear before booking that proper hiking footwear and clothing are essential — and it’s easy to see why. Walking shoes were fine for us, but trainers would have been a mistake. An unforgettable day and one we’d recommend wholeheartedly.
Excellent communication beforehand. Great trek with bilingual guide. Stunning vistas + interesting info about flora/fauna.
Julie is a fun and capable guide, which made the trek enjoyable and educational. She offered quick stops to take photos, and the lunch provided was tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our day and visit to the lake.
we had a small group so the slow people could stay close. guide was very knowledgeable about the official names of flra
We did the activity in mid-December and it was raining the entire day. Yet, the trail was nice and the lagoon color and view was worth taking the walk in the rain and mud.
Well organised, relatively easy hike with beautiful views. You will walk through mud, so hiking boots are a must. A hiking pole is helpful on the way down, but if you are an experienced hiker with good balance, you probably won't need it on the way up.
The guide was great and very knowledgeable about the plants and area. Had great weather. Emerald Lagoon was worth the hike.
An unforgettable experience from start to finish. The trek to Emerald Lagoon delivers stunning scenery at every turn—towering mountains, hanging glaciers, glacier-fed rivers, and vast stretches of unique peat bogs. Be prepared for plenty of mud along the way, but it only adds to the adventure! One of the highlights was learning about the landscape, wildlife, and local history from our fantastic guide, Lihue, whose stories brought the entire region to life. Reaching the lagoon itself was absolutely worth the effort: a peaceful, emerald-green oasis surrounded by dramatic peaks. I enjoyed a relaxing lunch by the water, soaking in the serenity and incredible views. A must-do hike in Ushuaia for nature lovers and anyone looking for a memorable outdoor adventure. Highly recommended!
Excellent guide. Be prepared for a lot of mud,, boggy sections, roots and very slippery rocks, even on a “dry” day.
What an amazing experience! Had the greatest day, specially thanks to our guide who made the hike so much easier. Thanks!!
What a great day hiking and sharing avout life in Ushuaïa with Violet our tour Guide. She has been adapting the hiking to the group and what sharing as much in english and spanish. All the details provided to questions were Highly appreciated The lunch around the lagune was definively a plus. The hiking is very accessible and last in total around 3 hrs.
A guided hike up to the lake which gave a great appreciation of a glaciated landscape and a hint of the wilderness. It's a popular trail and not technically demanding but probably would be more effort when it is very muddy.
The guide was really good and also very knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to go with her, as she was also very observant of our group.
A great day trip trekk to a beautiful place. Santiago, our guises very professional, very knowledgeable and very friendly. We do strongly recommend him and the trip.
Great winter trek to the laguna. Peaceful and spectacularly beautiful. Our guide, Maia, was friendly, helpful, and informative. The hike was easy. This tour is highly recommended.
The views and hike were amazing. You have to wear trekking/hiking boots and waterproof/resistant pants isn't necessarily required, but I think it's foolish to not wear them. But trekking/hiking boots is a must. It will be muddy.
Definitely a must when you visit Ushuaia. A experience no one should miss. The place is outstanding, the trek is not that hard considering all the mud, so you definitely should come prepared with the right shoes. The tour guides are really nice and quite knowledgeable about flora and fauna. Everything very professional. Don’t miss this opportunity instead of falling into tourist trap tours such as Tierra de Fuego National Park
Wonderful views. Easy trekking. Our guide very helpful and friendly. The distance was about 9 kilometers. The lagoon was indeed emerald.
I had a wonderful time at Emerald Lagoon! Josephine, our guide was super knowledgeable and kept a good pace on the hike. She also offered us ponchos, which was much needed given the weather. You absolutely need good hiking shoes and waterproof pants for this hike - I was covered in mud to my mid-thighs but the view made it well worth it!
Highlights: the penguins cruise and the self-managed walk through the lakes of the national park, in particular the gently rolling landscape of Alakush.
Beautiful hike, not too hard. Different path back to see differently ecosystem made it more interesting too. Franco, the guide, was great and repeated everything in English and Spanish. Highly recommend.
Muddy and much fun! Easy hike/walk Return from the laguna with a guide can follow a different trail with additional views and far less additional hikers
Juan was an amazing and professional guide! Highly recommend him for any trekking trips. He arrived on time for pick up and brought sandwiches, brownies, water, and hot coffee/tea for the hike. He set a steady pace for me to follow while providing some breaks to share great info about the history, culture, flora/fauna, and landscape to Lake Esmeralda. Juan was able to take different trails so you felt like you had the whole park to yourself. I would recommend taking the early hike time so you have less people on trail and at the lake to enjoy your views. Definitely follow the item list to bring/wear for the hike. It can be muddy, rocky, and steep on some parts of the trail. No pit bathrooms on trail and at the lake so either hold it or bring a kula cloth. 10/10!
It was such a breathtaking. Our guide (sorry, I forgot your name) knows a lot about the place, plants, history. He also had to prepare our meals for the excursion. Simply above what I had expected, I totally recommend this agency and our guide such a great man.
This is a beautiful hike! Our guide, Juan, is excellent— professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He took us on scenic trails that were less crowded. He is also very patient, keeping pace with the slowest person in the group while allowing me to go ahead a short distance. I give him two thumbs up!

The hike was beautiful! Our guide Luciano, was exceptional as well. We loved the day and enjoyed the beautiful scenery! It's a must!
Absolutely gorgeous experience! Our guide (I don't want to butcher her name) was so helpful and full of great info, giving us commentary the entire way about the ecosystem and Patagonia in general. Highly recommend the morning trek, the beaver ponds were like glass and the weather was perfection! We all walked around the lagoon and had a wonderful experience overall.
It was our first tracking, and it was so good. There are a lot of spectacular views around you for the whole route. The distance is 10 km, and even if you do not have enough physical activity, you will complete this trip
Guide was excellent and the whole trekking experience was fantastic! Although it was drizzling all in our group rated this as the best excursion in outr five days stay in Ushuaia.
Great hike to a beautiful lagoon. Quick and easy pickup and dropoff from local hotel. Excellent guide. Boxed lunch was delicious. Even had hot coffee/tea at the lagoon.
Latitude was a great tour company. They were great at communicating ahead of time what we needed to bring as well as what time they would pick us up. The Hike was at a good pace for the group. The tour guide Josephina was very knowledgeable about the area. It was great to have time at the lagoon to enjoy the scenery while having lunch.
It was a wonderful experience with Franco. He was an excellent guide through out the Trekking. We highly recommend this company. Nice detail of lunch at the lake with a hot cup of tea. The view of Lago Esmeralda is spectacular and well worth the trek.
The guide, Franco, was wonderful. The views amazing. We loved everything about our trip! Would highly recommend.
Great experience! Really picturesque trek, quite an easy one. Our guide Franco took a great care of us and gave a lot of useful tips on trekking. Also the company provides you tea and coffee in the lagoon) it was cute) really enjoyed having breakfast in such a wonderful nature. Totally reccomend
The guide Franco was very nice and accommodating. I enjoyed the lunch and the bus transport. However I feel like I could have done the hike without a guide, and it was quite expensive overall.
Amazing place to walk to; so wonderful. Guide was very careful to make us feel welcome and walked at a pace to keep everyone together. The packed lunch was great and the fact they had coffee for us was a treat. I guess it’s possible to do this without organising a guide as the path is clear and the pace for me was slow, but I realise that’s about fitness and experience. Cannot fault the organisation or day out.
Loved it. Guides were experienced and friendly. It was my first time trekking and will do more next time I visit Ushuaia.
Used Latitud for several tours while in Ushuaia and was super happy! They handled everything so smoothly. Owner even got involved to make sure my time there was memorable. Really above and beyond normal service. Thank you so much for everything! Highly recommended.
Mariana and Maya were amazing. Positive and knowledgeable. A great hike. When they say wear the water tight boots- for SURE do that! You can rent them in town which is easier than trekking them down to the end of the world. Tour is about 6 hours front to back and an amazing way to spend the day. Don’t miss it. And this tour company is FANTASTIC. Strongly recommend.
Violetta was very knowledgeable, had excellent english skills and hiking experience, and shared so much about the region's local flora and fauna.
We had a great time! Our guide was great and this excursion was the perfect length of time. Highly recommend!
Excellent group with an excellent friendly guide. Bit muddy which made it quite slippery in places but a lovely walk with a magnificent climax at the Lagoon. Absolutely beautiful and with the mountains looking on made it a spectacular photo opportunity
We had a wonderful day. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was kind and our guides were knowledgeable.
Great trip. Warm followed by rain and cooler followed by sun and warm made ot an interesting day!! Marianna was a good leader but as all other walkers were spanish speakers and I was only one not I felt that although she was very good at explaining to me it was somewhat shorter than in Spanish. Lovely other guests. The walk showed fabulous views of the mountains and valleys and the lagoon was a beautiful scene. Very glad walking poles were supplied as it was very muddy and rocky in parts. The lunch provided was a very substantial sandwich/ roll, fruit and chocolate eaten by the lagoon. Very glad to have some coffee Marianna had brought as it was quite cool due to thevrain and altitude.
My husband and I were facing a day and a half of flights and airport waits and we wanted to get some exercise. This was perfect. The hike was nice, the lake and mountains were lovely. Our guide, Franco, was knowledgeable and friendly.
Very well organised and small group. Lunch was really nice, best sandwich I had in Argentina. Also the cereal bar was amazing. The best was coffee by the lake. Really loved doing this trek with knowledge guide.
Our guide, Franco, was wonderful. Very informative, also great sharing so much information about Ushuaia in general. Great asset to the company he works for! The walk in was stunning, so many beautiful vistas. The lagoon was everything we hoped for. Highly recommend this tour!
Marcelo was a great tour guide and Freddy was a great driver. The trek itself was not very strenuous. There was only one portion that truly had a climb but Marcelo did a good job of avoiding other climbs and was patient with any stragglers. The lake was beautiful. Be warned that it gets cold by the lake, even in the summer. Coat, gloves, and hat are a must. Also boots will get very muddy so take old ones.
