Christian our guide and driver picked us up in a Toyota 4 x 4. We joined a lovely family from Argentina. Climbing into a 4 x 4 is not easy but Christian showed me how to do it. He was an excellent guide taking us through a very tough off road route filled with giant potholes and deep mud holes. Our first stop for a coffee break was just before we went bouncing down the trail toward Lake Escondido. We stopped there to walk a bit and enjoy the views. Back into the 4 x 4 we went and through the mountain pass. We stopped a small restaurant and then walked to a shelter where Christian was starting a fire for our lunch. Once the fire was going we let it to burn down to coals and drove to Lake Fagnano. It is a huge lake, very long and very deep. this day there were white caps as it was very windy. Then back for a lunch prepared by Christian. He made everything from scratch. Nothing was prepared ahead he did everything there. he would not allow us to help with anything, including clean-up. It was a wonderful day! This should not be missed!

Itinerary
In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel to start our excursion.
We are going to take the famous route 3 that runs through part of the Cordillera Fueguina, which allows us to access to the Paso Garibaldi. From here, we will see Escondido and Fagnano Lake.
We will start the descent, leaving the conventional route to follow the old tracks of the woodcutters. The 4x4 trucks will help us with this expedition, reaching places where access would be impossible otherwise. We will cross forests, following paths of mud, stones, and overcoming different challenges in our way. Finally, we will arrive at Fagnano Lake, which will surprise us with its size and the incredible landscape that surrounds it. There, we are going to have a stop at that lake where we will enjoy a delicious local asado. While the guides prepare lunch, we can make a walk around the area to explore the forest and the beavers that are part of the local landscape nowadays. After lunch, we will continue with this adventure but this time using a route to get to Escondido Lake.
This lake is smaller than the other but it will still surprise us with its unique natural environment. If we choose this tour during the summer, we can go canoeing on the Escondido Lake. First we will have an introductory talk with our guides, prepare the canoes and finally paddle around the lake for 45 minutes. We will enjoy the area landscape in a different way. But if you choose it during winter, we will have lunch in a winter shelter and while it is being prepared, we can walk around or have fun on the sledding track. After lunch, we will visit the Tierra Mayor Winter Center, where we will have time to explore the area and make extra activities such as snowmobiles, husky sleds, skiing or ice-skating. Also, if you wish, you can stay in the warm hosteria contemplating the incredible Nevado Valley.
After canoeing (in summer) or having fun at the winter center (in winter) , we will return to the point where the vans were left to return to Ushuaia along National Route 3.

Guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, prompt on the hotel pickup, eager to answer questions. Scenery and lunch were fantastic. The 4 wheel was absolutely necessary on the backroad portion of the tour. It was well worth the money and the time.
Nice off-road tour into the interior of Tierra del Fuego! It was cool to drive next to and into the edge of the big lake. Lunch was also terrific.
Viator booked with the worst rated company in Ushuaia to provide our tour. The tour included canoeing which we did not book and were not prepared for. We booked 4x4 with lunch by the lake, that is not what we received. We didn’t receive lunch - no food, no water, no options to leave the tour. We were abandoned on private property for over an hour with no cell service. The tour operator told us he hated Americans and then gave us the symbol for cutting your neck as the other 4x4 tried to hit us twice. The driver jumped out of the moving truck to make a “joke”, we were finally offered lunch at 4:00pm at a dog sledding place that was full of animal cruelty and like they were cooking the dogs for lunch. We declined and asked to be taken back to town. When I contacted Viator to ask for refund the request was rejected because the tour operator said they completed the “tour”.
Tour was nice and our driver/ guide was great. I didn’t give it a five star because the car has an odd design. There is no way to see the road ahead. The view is blocked. All you can see is from the side windows.
Well organized. We were picked up from our hotel. Our driver/ guide was David. Professional with excellent english. Trip worth every penny. Definitely better than spending day and money on national park, train and etc. on the way back stopped at husky park winter resort and had outstanding steak. Couldn’t ask for more.
This trip was awesome! Freddy our guide was fantastic! He was very personable, easy to understand, knowledgeable, professional, and fun. The BBQ lunch was delicious. The vehicles were well maintained and comfortable. They picked us up from our AirBNB on time. The places we visited were beautiful. It was great to get out and canoe for a bit. The recent rain made off-roading more interesting. I would highly recommend this company and this tour.
Our guide Freddy was fantastic! He was friendly, informed, and made sure we were all comfortable and enjoying the experience. I would highly recommend this excursion.
Fantastic 4WD crazy ride, beautiful forest, then canoeing on the Hidden Lake. Insanely great lunch, asado/barbecue with good Malbec wine. Visiting husky dogs. Matias, excellent driver, all the guys were friendly and fun.
This trip was everything i wanted it to be & guide Freddy worked hard to ensure we all enjoyed it. Beautiful scenery of lakes, woodland & beaches. Freddy very informative about the natural landscape. Lunch in a cabin was very good...much better than i expected...and the wine flowed (what a lovely touch!) We were also provided with hot drinks and snacks on the way. I wanted to see something of Tierra del Fuego and this trip fulfilled that!
IA nice day out but mostly on the main road ie not much 4x4 stuff. Main activities finished at 12.45 leaving 1 hr to get back on Route 3 and 2 hrs for a quite reasonable lunch thus making it a "day' trip. Guide was great but wish he hadn't played 70s rock music so loudly during the entire journey, making conversation difficult and being something of a distraction from the pristine country all around.
The tour is done in a fleet of brand near new modified Toyota Hilux's which are more than capable of the terrain they take you on. Their pick up time from your hotel is prompt and the tour is offered in both English and Spanish. Something our tour guide did a great job with as we were the only people in our truck with english as their first language. First leg of the trip is on road to the Carbajal valley just up route 3 from Ushuaia. I made the mistake of doing this drive the day before so the first hour or so was a repeat. There is a pit stop at a cross country ski facility for a bathroom/coffee break. They then take you to Lake Escondido where they offer to let you go Canoeing. (NOTE THIS IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE ADVERTISING) However, conditions were too rough at the time and everyone wound up opting out of it so we pushed on to the off roading. Off road tracks take you from Lake Escondido to Lake Fagnano via abandoned logging roads. During this you will go through water, mud, and near vertical assents and descents. One thing worth noting, if you are at all prone to motion sickness, this will affect you. However, the overall trip through the Fuegian forests out to lake Fagnano are great as is the view once you get there. They then take you back to their base cabin where you are provided with a massive lunch of steak, chorizo, salad, bread, wine, etc. Lunch was almost the best part as you are seated with other travelers from around the world to socialize with.
Amazing day with a great guide/driver, Christian! The views were awesome ... It was so much fun and the BBQ was perfect!!
The experience was amazing due to the guide and wonderful places where we have been. Woods, lakes, mountains and a lot of curiosities made by mother nature. Serenity offered by the nature was simple astonishing. The trip was indeed a hard off road track and the driver - Sergio was full of trust.
Picked up from hotel promptly and the adventure began So unexpected what I was about to see and experience. This is a full day tour with pick up and drop off at hotel. A rest stop to visit some huskies and have a cuddle of a pup oh so smelly and then off again to visit a beaver dam but no beaver was home and to hear about the damage that the introduced beaver has created.then on the road again bushbashing on to see hidden lake .So named because it is usually hidden in mist. But not today a very splendid view. Then back to bush to Lake Fagnano such a surprise when you see this lake.Having taken morning tea as provided so welcomed you can then walk around the lake for about 20 mins and the car will pick you up at the end Each turn a new and breathtaking view and a true 4 x 4 experience Now lunch time Argentinian BBQ with antipasto complete with wine & softdrink so much food and so delicious An option with this trip is to go canoeing for about 30 minutes

Fantastic experience! Had a great time experiencing beautiful lakes, canoeing, land rover adventures, lovely scenery and delicious food! The guides were great fun - spoke English and were very informative. They made sure we had a terrific time and were well-fed! Highly recommended!!!!!

My daughter and I took this tour before going on a cruise to Antarctica, and it was fantastic! We were with a family from Colombia and had a really fun time. We were taken to beautiful spots, went canoeing, and had the excitement of driving into a lake after walking along its rocky shore. We ate a late lunch in a setting we will never forget. We're vegetarians and thought we would probably get a cheese sandwich, but our hot meal was creative and delicious. We were really impressed. I want to add that I am 70 years old and did not feel that the ride was too rough. I also do not speak Spanish, but the guide spoke perfect English and described what we were seeing in both Spanish and English. He was both informative and amusing. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wanted a fun and exciting off-the-beaten-track day tour of Tierra del Fuego.

Our guide, Maxie, was right on time picking us up and was terrific about explaining everything. We loved the canoeing, seeing the huskies, the amazing scenery, and the late lunch was fantastic! Trip is not recommended for vegetarians. I could definitely see why you needed a 4x4 on this trip--some of the roads were downright scary, but we felt confident in our guide. Highly recommended.

Fun and full of adventure. Saw parts of the country not accessible any other way. Loved the lunch. Too windy for canoeing Would recommend highly

4x4 part and the lunch were very good. Unfortunately too much wind to go out canoeing.... limited visibility on the first row behind the driver. Spectacualar drives through water. Unbelivable what a Hilux can do !

The dogs, the canoeing and the 4x4 trip were a blast. Christian is an excellent guide with a very outgoing personality. And boy can he make a steak! The lunch was more food than we could ever eat but we did because it was so delicious.
This really sounds like a fun day. However, beware that I booked this excursion and received a confirmation and voucher and even exchanged information about hotel pickup. Only to have them cancel the trip the afternoon before. This was my only day in Ushuaia to take an excursion like this. Their late cancellation has made it impossible for me to book another excursion. Not a very customer friendly thing to do.

It was a very nice day and we saw lots of beautiful scenery. The lunch was wonderful, as advertised.
BUT we were not ever in the National Park and that was part of the advertised itinerary. Our group was made up of 3 English speaking people and 5 Spanish speaking people. The guide would talk in Spanish for 10 or more minutes and then give 2 or 3 minutes in English. He answered our questions but the running commentary was obviously not even close to being fairly divided.. Also, we were taken canoeing which was not part of the advertised itinerary...maybe a treat for the younger folks but the older people were not interested.

This was a really great trip. Some opportunities for amazing photos- but mostly a very interesting off road adventure. We did the canoeing on Lake Escondido which I must have missed in the description- but was fun! The meal that was provided was the BEST BBQ we had in Argentina. No joke. It was amazing.

We had a truly great time the scenery is stunning and our guide, Christian, was wonderful. We got to see two gorgeous lakes, we truly did go off-roading, we kayaked, and enjoyed a delicous meal with lovely people. Would definitely recommend for anyone.

Amazing day. Lots of fun and great guides. I am usually a wimp when it comes to these types of trips but thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend everyone to try it when visiting Ushuaia. Good travelling companions.
Trip finished of by a great BBQ anda couple of glasses of Argentinian Malbec.

Great experience! A good way to see some of the wilder areas around Ushuaia. Very well organised and lots of fun.

Best meal I've ever had in my life! Fun cabin/shelter dining experience.

This was a great trip with a wonderful driver/guide Claudio. We had four of us in a car and would recommend that is the maximum number. The off-road was REALLU off-road and we have a blast. Got to hike down a small part of the Andes. There was a BBQ lunch that was very good and the bottomless wine bottles made it even better. We highly recommend this tour for those who enjoy getting off the beaten path. If you are lucky enough to get Claudio you are assured a good time.

A really great tour we saw some beautiful country, the lakes were magnificent, the off road sections were safe and exciting and the barbecue lunch and wine were to die for.

The only good part was the lunch, which was good and plentiful. The tour itself was not good. The Land Rover was tight, had to rear seats facing each other with no support? Quite uncomfortable for hours off road. The sites we traveled were pretty but not stupendous. The driver talked mainly to two Spanish speaking passengers and rarely pointed anything out. Maybe because it was a bit boring. The people in back heard all most no comments. Strong fuel smell in the rear, necessitating opening windows which blew on the necks of other passengers. Would not recommend it.
Sr Way too expensive to just bounce around.would not recommend it.

Not worth the money! Certainly this trip is not for fit seniors who do not wish to be tossed around in the back of an old Land Rover with dirty bench seats and lap belt. When we were picked up, the front and middle seats were already occupied. We had to go in the cargo area. This is not my idea of travelling in a Land Rover. My younger travelling companion did not like it either. Canal Fun was the local provider. Their version of fun is driving down steep hills, over very rutted or muddy trails and bumping along the stones on the shore of a lake. It took away from the scenery we were supposed to be enjoying. The only saving grace of this misadventure was a good lunch. Think your description of this expensive trip should be more explicit as to what one can expect!

excellent experience with a good driver, especially crossing the lake in the Land Rover!

Although difficult to achieve, it would be even better if there was a way that the driver's commentary could be heard in the back of the vehicle

I loved the way the tour guide interacts with the visitors, all the information he shares and the hospitality shown to the group. The views are stunning, and the ride is a lot of fun!

It worth the local price. Excellent but not for the price Viator charge

I could not expect a beautiful landscape of de la fuego national park. Meal was not good and staff service was also not excellent.

Really fun and interesting seeing the back roads. It is like non other. Really get the feel for back–roaring!

We took the tour with the Brasileiros agency in Ushuaia. It was very good, we loved the entire route, the attention of the guide (driver). Ideal for those who like a quiet adventure. It was worth the trip.
Agency Antartur Ushuaia.
We were picked up in a grizzly Toyota, we're two adults and my son. We shared the excursion with another childless couple and Hernan, the driver. We were picked up on time by the cabin, the van spotless. We started the tour with a walk in Ushuaia where Hernan told us part of the history of the island. We toured stunning places in a 4x4 that got into the water. Everything perfect, we stopped for breakfast in a place with an impeccable view, on the shores of the lake, stopped for coffee with bills we were given. We traveled hidden lake and swamp, complicated roads very well taken by the driver. We had a good lunch, the food was delicious but nothing otherworldly. Recommended lamb casserole. An excellent excursion, a very knowledgeable driver (Hernán), well prepared to explain and remove our doubts, a great. We returned very happy after a spectacular day.
Wonderful walk! It starts smoothly but becomes exciting with time! The ideal would be 5 passengers in the car and not 6 as they put it! The appetizers and the barbecue at the end are delicious!!!
very fun, and entertaining, the guides give it an incredible wave, we went with a family with an 11 year old boy and we all passed it 10. super recommended, complying with the schedule and the most valuable thing was the group of riders that apart from the super professional handling, make you spend a joyful, exciting and safe trip. I particularly think they're crazy, but they catch that crazy and it's the nice thing about the trip. The beautiful landscapes.
Stop by to find a 4x4 where you stay at 9 a.m. They live up to their promise, visiting hidden lake and lake fagnano, passing through garibaldi. Then the mince with wine and lunch, consisting of chorizo and a piece of meat along with lettuce tomato salad and carrot. Pay attention with the vans, we were 6 people, of which 3 are tall. Two of them had to travel super uncomfortable in the last seats, in front sat older people, who could not climb to the back. Return is supposedly at 5pm, but by 4pm we were already in the centre. After lunch the dog breeding instructors give a talk. The tour costs $5400 in March 2020. Like I said at the beginning, they meet everything but it's not worth that price. I could finish quietly at 14 at most at 3 p.m. Look for cheaper agencies, because it is too much money for a tour where there are many bumps in time
Unique experience. Perfect organization! Really exciting hike. Very kind and prepared guide, very interesting places visited, barbecue in the spectacular forest, inside a very spartan little hut, furnished in wood and with a stove lit in the center. Very relaxing canoe ride. Experience to do...
The tour passes through very beautiful landscapes. A stop in the breeding of husk dogs, which pull the trench and are gentle, love a love and are beautiful. We walked through a forest with beautiful trees even though they were leafless. The hidden lake and the Fagnano are beautiful, large but nothing special, the fog has bothered a little. We had lunch in a small town called Tolhuim, already included in the tour. Not the best tour of Ushuaia but worth doing
A unique experience, excellent drivers and guides, had a great time, beautiful landscapes. Food and wine very well
A quiet, very fun tour, passing through a splendid setting and finishing with a barbecue watered to a good Argentine wine!
We picked up a "guide" who didn't exchange a word with us, he's called Paulo. He barely looked at us, we were 4 Brazilians, he just talked to a Mexican passenger. It's not worth the price we paid!!
The excursion may be interesting for a citizen or someone who has not had driving experience in rough terrain. Some good landscapes where you stop taking photos. The best: the roast in the cabin, the chat with other hikers and the very solicitous Christian guide.
Great tour, the guides were very kind with us and the place is fantastic. An authentic fueguina parilla was served, with amazing vegetarian options.
