My husband and I made a last minute decision to get a winery tour and it was one of the highlights of the vacation. I highly recommend visiting Bocale Vini! Valentino was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a tour of his family's vineyard, that has been passed down from generation to generation and grows grapes and olives. The wine they make is delicious and we felt we stumbled on something truly authentic and wonderful. Thank you for the treat!

This was absolutely beautiful. We were met with Valentino - winery owner. Valentino is a warm, niciest guy who becomes your close friend at the end of the tour. We were getting inside of growing and operating the Sagrantino wine. Wine was so good that we have ordered box of wine to be delivered to US. Me and my wife left highly satisfied. Valentino, thank you so much. I am glad we were given a chance to visit Bocale, meet you, try your wine.
We enjoyed this tour very much. Valentino, an owner of his family's vineyard named Bocale, was extremely informative and passionate about his grand winery production process. We learned a lot. In our small group of 7 people, one gentleman was the Bocale distributor to China, and he further informed us about the wines Bocale produces. The tour concluded with a sampling of four wines, including the "church wine Pastito". We enjoyed each sample, especially their wonderful Sagrantino. We also met family members who all helped serve us the wine and the accompanying meats, cheese and toasted bread with the vineyard's delicious olive oil. This was a special tour, and we highly recommend it. You will learn new things, see their beautiful land, and meet the lovely Valentini family.
A wonderful prrsonal experience with a famiky that knows for wine-making.. no sales pressure, but i suspect you'll wnat to take home some of their wines and oil.
We really enjoyed the wine maker’s enthusiasm for the history and continued tradition of his family wine making business. The wines were delicious and complimented with wonderfully generous appetizers.
Great vineyard and winery tour. The host and owner was very interesting and the wine was good as well. Really enjoyed learning about the family history of the vineyard. Would visit again and recommend.
The owner was incredibly friendly and well-informed. He made us feel like family. We enjoyed speaking with him, as well as his friend who sells his wine in his restaurant. The wine was amazing, as well as the olive oil. I highly recommend this wine tour. NOTE - There are no taxis in Montefalco so transportation arrangements are necessary.
We learned so much about Italian history and how a winery really works. Our tasting was excellent and the wines were great. It was interesting to learn that Bocali's sales in the US are largely to upscale restaurants directly.
It is a wonderful slice of life to enjoy: A family living on the same farm for generations, each member doing their part to grow, make, bottle and ship their wines. Inspiring, actually. Bravo!
Amazing tour and very accommodating host. Family run business and made you feel very welcome. Best olive oil ever tasted also just had to buy some. Thank you.
It was such a nice, private wine tour. I love family owned things. They were so kind and the wine was delicious! Between us all we bought 12 bottle and had them shipped home. Can’t wait to do it again!
The owner was charming! We signed up for an English tour but he spoke no English. This turned out fine because we were the only ones in attendance and I got a lot of practice speaking Italian which I have been studying for some years. We toured his wine making area and then sat down to taste his local, hand crafted wines. The three we tasted were fabulous. I give it a 4 because we weren’t allowed to taste his Reserve and we thought for €40 we should have had more than three tastes (not full pours) of wine. Still, an enjoyable experience.
Beautiful scenery and learned so much about Italian wine and the Umbria region. Also got amazing tips for the rest of the day
Valentino and his parents were perfect hosts! My group of friends thoroughly enjoyed our wine saying and photo taking in the vineyards; bought some of their excellent wines too. We recommend this fun experience and we hope to visit again :)
A small vineyard with an excellent presentation in English. Very friendly. And outstanding wines! Nice views too
Visiting Bocale was one of the highlights of our visit to Montefalco! This was our 3rd visit and have learned something new about Sagrantino wines every time. Valentino does an amazing job exhibiting his passion for his wine making, his family, and his country! We highly recommend booking a tour and tasting if you are in the area. We hope to one day own property here and be neighbors so we can visit more often.
Absolutely the best wine tour of our Tuscany visit. Valentino Valentini is a very engaging host who provided a detailed introduction to the Bocale wine production process. This was not a rushed, impersonal experience. We met his entire family. A great visit punctuated with tasting great wines. Don’t miss a visit to Bocale!
Valentino was a great host, very friendly. And the wine was great, we bought ourselves a bottle to take back home! Thank you for today
We were greeted by the owner of the vineyard who served us our tastings and answered all our questions about the family vineyard and the grapes. We went into the fermentation room and showed the barrels. Sagrantino wine is in this region. Beautiful color and taste. Two bottles to go for our dinner that night.
Valentino showed us around the vineyard, it is a beautiful family owned business, eco friendly, organic. The whole experience was incredible, we got to taste 3 different types of wine and the olive oil they make. Overall would recommend every time, our family loved every second of it. Will be looking for the wine in my country of residence.
Informative personal tour by the owner, who shared his passion for Sagrantino and his very interesting family history. We began in the vineyard and saw beautiful fall colors of the grapevines. He brought us inside the cantina where the “magic” happens. We learned about the wine making process and some of the requirements for making Sagrantino. Finally, we met Valentino’s wife and father and tasted three of their fine wines, including the excellent premium, Ennio Sagrantino, named for his father. We greatly enjoyed meeting the Valentini family, touring their vineyard, and tasting their fine wines.
This should be at the top of your list of things to do in Umbria. The views from this vineyard are absolutely outstanding and seem to stretch on for miles. The winery is run by a pair of brothers who decided to resuscitate the family vineyard in the not-so-distant past. Valentino is an incredible host with stories from traveling around the world to sell his wine. He also taught us a lot about the classifications of wine (and other delicious products) in Italy. This vineyard produces a couple of red and white wines including Montefalco Sagrantino, Montefalco Rosso, Montefalco Trebbiano Spolentino, and my new favorite, Montefalco Sagrantino Passito. I was particularly excited when I found these wines on the menu at a couple of restaurants we visited in Norcia, another incredible town in Umbria. While I always want to add more towns to my list, I know that we will definitely be back in Montefalco.
We've gone on many winery tours but Valentino did a wonderful job of showing and telling us of the intricacies of wine making, care of the grapes, organic practices (the 4 little huts that confuse the bugs away-- amazing!) and finally a delicious tasting of 4 wines. And an opportunity to sample their delicious olive oil. Couple all that with interesting conversation with him and his family, it was a terrific afternoon on a beautiful location.
We went for a wine tasting with Valentino and it was the highlight of my trip. So interesting to hear how the grapes are grown and the wines are perfected. It’s a family tradition and there is no doubt that they take huge pride in what they produce. Valentino is so informative, entertaining and an excellent host. If you are looking for a really personal experience, with the most delicious wines, in a beautiful setting, then don’t hesitate to visit this place - and most definitely buy the wines. They are outstanding.
A family vineyard located in a beautiful valley between Spoleto, Trevi & Montefalco. We had a very nice welcoming from Valentini, who was going to be our guide. First we walked onto the terrace with a view over the valley, then he took us into the vineyard and explained their way of working. After all that, he took us into the wine cellar where they store their wine for the maturation and bottle them when they are ready. Then we came to the best bit of the tour, the tasting! We tasted four different types of wine, the Trebbiano Spoletino 2020, the Montefalco Rosso, the Montefalco Sagrantino 2016 & the Passito. With all that came bread, dripping in incredible olive oil, pecorino cheese and italian cold cuts. And when we thought we had finished everything, he asked if we wanted more, so naturally we said yes because it was delicious! We reccomend everyone who is in the neigbourhood to visit the Bocale vineyard!!!
We had accidentally booked the visit with Italian guide. Once arrived this was no problem at all and the guide did the tour in 2 languages (Italian and English). Full of passion he told about the vineyard and the explanation was very clear and interesting. In addition, we visited the cellar where the wine was in the tanks and in barrels. Finally a delicious tasting of 1 white, 2 red and a dessert wine accompanied with tasty hot rolls with olive oil spout in the oven. The trip took 1.5 hours and we left with 2 delicious bottles of wine. Small scale and highly recommended!
Definitely worth visiting this family business. It is small in scale but therefore no less interesting. Very friendly received by Valentino
All in one word.. TOP! Valentino fantastic person made our visit special. He transmitted us the love x his land and all his passion... true strong point..... tales of the past and plans for the future. Thank you x for making me relive childhood memories ... the grape harvest with my grandmother! Wine tasting and bruschetta that we will not forget.... especially the daughters who would have eaten a loaf of bread and oil! Spectacular wine and a lot of accuracy and seriousness in production. We will definitely be back. Thank you thank you thank you! ❤️
Valentino gave us a nice visit! Genuine and generous. Very good red wine, excellent white wine and exceptional olive oil.Thank you!
Beautiful wine experience, cultural, sensory and taste.... Fantastic place rich in tradition and history, the guided tour was very pleasant and interesting (thanks Elena!!!). Recommended experience
We had a great time. We learned a lot about wine production and vineyard management. The wines tasted were excellent.
Welcoming Available… Good tasting and excellent explanation regarding wines and the whole history of their territory.. we also purchased their very good wines and excellent prices… Thanks for the wonderful experience.
A very nice sympathetically guided tour that gave us small insights into the maturation and storage processes of the wine. The wine tasting was nice, the bread delicious and the olive oil very good. We took wine & oil with us. A tip for dog owners: The estate family owns a small, non-snarky dog of its own, but it only stays outside. Stranger dogs are admitted to the property, but are excluded from the tour and the wine tasting, as they take place indoors. Dogs must therefore virtually remain outside, just like the estate dog itself.
Superleuk, kleine winery, lekkere wijnen en gastvrij onthaal. In voorseizoen (tot 1 juni) is boeken tour niet nodig :)
We found a warm and familiar atmosphere on this winery tour. We tasted 3 delicious wines and bruschetta with new oil. We will most likely return even just to buy the wine that we found to be of excellent quality.
Welcoming the boss who is very kind and very professional. He explains his product. The quality of wine and oil.
Very interesting experience! Mr. John. Valentino was a great narrator, friendly, hospitable, precise and detailed: it is really worth having him tell you all the work behind a "simple" bottle of wine, from the vine to the bottling through the harvest, aging, the laws for organic and everything else. You feel that the whole family carries out this work with passion. The excellent tasting with Red, Sagrantino and Passito and a taste of their oil. In short, highly recommended!
Valentino received us most kindly and told us extensively about the family business, the growth and the care of the different grape varieties. In the cellar he showed us the whole process from grape to wine. Then the tasting. Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines...and of course with a box out the door. The olive oil that grows and is made there on a small scale is also delicious and disappeared in the back of our car. Very worth a visit and tasting!
We had already heard about their wines at a tasting and decided to pay a visit to the cellar as we were in the area. we tasted the Trebbiano Spoletino, the Montefalco Rosso, the Montefalco Sagrantino and the Montefalco Sagrantino Passito: all really delicious. Valentino excellent host and entertainer in the visit of the cellar. If you are in the area it is worth a visit. Recommended!
Really very nice and interesting experience. The valentini family is very friendly and hospitable and manages to communicate to guests the passion they put into their work.
The cellars now offer visits, more nics, tastings.... so the choice is wide. Everything always depends on what you want to learn in the visit i a winery, whether to stop to taste or deepen the culture of wine.
Small winery with excellent wines and very delicious olive oil. The owner personally showed us around and showed us everything. The tasting was very good and there was crostini with olive oil. The Sagrantino was excellent. Also the Grappa is worth mentioning.Highly recommended as an alternative to the big winemakers. All organic and sustainable. The owner speaks some German. All COVID-19 rules were observed.
