Beautiful castle in a stunning location with exceptional views over Perugia. Unfortunately, the overall experience does not live up to what you would expect from such a special property. The staff are friendly, but they come across as rather distant and show little interest in making guests feel welcome or creating a memorable stay. The swimming pool is small and pleasantly situated, but it is not well maintained. During our visit it contained many insects, and the filtration system did not appear to be working properly. The breakfast buffet, on the other hand, is excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality products. However, when we had to check out very early on our last day, we were given a breakfast box that contained only packaged snacks and none of the fresh items available at the buffet. This felt like another indication that guest experience is not a priority. This is a remarkable property in a truly outstanding setting. With a little more attention to detail and a stronger focus on guest experience, it could be an unforgettable destination.

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday at Castello di Monterone, and it exceeded every expectation. We rented the entire castle for 3 nights and 4 days for our group of 56 guests - 38 max total stayed in the Caslte and from the moment we arrived, we were completely captivated by its beauty, charm, and impeccable accommodations. The castle itself is absolutely stunning, and every room was comfortable, elegant, and perfectly suited for our guests. We hosted a welcome party on the first night and my birthday celebration on the third night, and both events were flawless. The food was extraordinary, there was an abundance of delicious options, and the presentation of each meal was simply breathtaking. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance. What made the celebration magical, however, was the incredible staff. Dany, Donatella, and Vittoria went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Their warmth, professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care made us feel special throughout our stay.If you're looking for an unforgettable venue for a milestone celebration, wedding, family gathering, or special event, I cannot recommend Castello di Monterone highly enough. My guests are still talking about it, and the memories we created there will last a lifetime. Thank you for making my 50th birthday such a magical and unforgettable experience!
This hotel is magical. It's like you stepped back on time! The employees are so kind and want you to feel comfortable. Their food is excellent, the views are incredible! If you want umbrian wine and cuisine, this is the place for you! I recommend staying on the 1st or 2nd floors; the 3rd floor got a little stuffy so they kindly brought us a fan.
We had a wonderful stay at Castello di Monterone. Staying in a real medieval castle was such a unique experience, and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are peaceful, the rooms are full of character, and the atmosphere truly makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. The staff was kind and welcoming throughout our stay, and we really enjoyed the overall experience. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be to provide an optional guided tour of the castle. One of the main reasons we chose to stay here was because of its incredible history, and we would have loved the opportunity to have a staff member walk us through the castle, point out interesting features, and share stories about its past. We understand that not every guest would be interested; offering it as an option during check-in or at a scheduled time would be a fantastic addition for history lovers. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone looking for a unique and memorable place to experience the beauty and history of Umbria.
his can’t be considered a 4 star hotel. Obviously I booked a standard room so I can’t expect the best of the best but my room had no real window, was tucked under the stairs outside next to the service room so was noisy in the morning with people in and out to take the cleaning g stuff. The room lacked comfort (coffee/tea) and small things made no sense (plastic water glass really? In 2026?). Floor was not cleaned properly so my feet was dirty after 2 mins of walking. Venus is great, lots of history if you look on Wikipedia but they didn’t make an effort to have explanations displayed in the castle or in the room. History should be preserved and shared. Lastly, breakfast was poor… processed food, out of the freezer. Including the pastries and the cakes….In a region with incredible access to delicious product… with bakeries 5 mins drive…that’s a shame.
