A real cooking school in Siena, with a tradition dating back to 1996, a qualified host, a complete menu with wine included, a technical yet convivial experience, a local atmosphere, and recipes you can recreate at home. Our reviews say it best. The class is led by Francesco, owner of the school and passionate expert in traditional Tuscan family recipes, prepared with authentic local ingredients. You will learn how to prepare a complete Tuscan menu, from starter to dessert, including fresh handmade pasta. Each class includes 5 recipes. The menu may vary and can feature starters, soups, ravioli, gnocchi, pici with traditional sauces, meat dishes with sides, and regional Italian desserts. At the end of the lesson, sit down with your group and enjoy the meal you prepared, served with excellent Tuscan IGT wine, ¼ bottle per person. This experience combines practical cooking techniques, a friendly local atmosphere, and recipes you can recreate at home. Group classes are held in English. Other languages are available on request for private classes only. During the booking process, please leave your cell phone number in case we need to contact you quickly.

Was over 4 hrs. Expected just Pasta making. Class. Included making a pork roast, potatoes, soup and included desert and wine. Well worth the cost. Chef was outstanding.
I learned so much! I love to cook and had been daunted by pasta. I now feel very confident in my pasta making skills. The whole meal was delicious and easy to make. A fun evening for those who cook and those who eat!
This class was excellent. Francesco provided many valuable general cooking tips that can be used apart from the specific dishes that we were taught to make. Julie's English translation was invaluable in helping us understand Francesco's instruction (and jokes). And finally, the five course meal that we had at the end was very enjoyable.
What a delightful afternoon, stretching into evening! Francesco and Julia were both excellent communicators, involved all participants, and made the preparation of a delicious meal fun and informative.
The experience for our group was too intensely organized around making a lot of pici (spaghetti) by hand for over 35 minutes . Atmosphere was not fun. The food was good. We were only given wine with dinner, it was not very good wine, any extra they charged 10eu.. if you like a regimented school experience, then you would be happy . If you like a more fun vibe, it’s not for you.
We did a great deal of research to find a cooking class that would feature gnocchi and we would be able to get to without a car in Siena. We were over the moon with our choice of Scotland di Cucina di Lella. Francesco was easy to communicate with and super responsive. This class certainly checked every possible box. We were instructed on how to make a delicious 4 course Tuscan meal which focused on Tagaliata steak and potato gnocchi. After everything was done we enjoyed one of the best meals we had in Siena with very nicely paired wine. Francesco was very entertaining and has Julia there to help translate when needed. While we had not planned originally on a private lesson to be honest we enjoyed having the two of them for our own tour guides through this delightful culinary experience!
Wonderful experience, excellent teaching, and a lively atmosphere in a small group. Highly recommended!
Tremendous amount of fun. Francesco and Julie provided flawless instruction that ended in a wonderful meal and a memorable experience. Highly recommend.
Such a fun experience, with delightful hosts and absolutely delicious food! We learned a lot and enjoyed every minute! Highly recommend!!
This was a super fun hands on activity! It was great to make an entire dinner from scratch and then sit down and eat it. Francesco was excellent. We are excited to go back home and make these dishes again. Definitely a 5 star excursion!
We were a group of 9. Such a fun experience and can honestly say the best meal we have had in Italy.
Amazing experience!!! My wife and I loved the class where Chef Francesco taught us how to cook four separate courses in the Tuscany tradition. Francesco and Julia made the entire experience memorable. The four dishes included antipasta which was La Pappa Col Pomodoro; homemade pici pasta; Tagliata Steak with caramelized onions; and Cantuccini Biscotti. With each dish they explained the background, local ingredients and tradition, and then coached us to prepare ourselves. Their personalities and knowledge were the perfect combination to make the experience incredibly enjoyable and beyond worthwhile. Best of all, you get the experience and the recipes to take home to try for yourself. If you want the quintessential Siena/Tuscan experience, don’t miss Chef Francesco, Julia, and their classes. It will be the highlight of your visit!
A very fun cooking class - we made a full 4 course meal with soup, pasta, main course and dessert. I liked that it was around dinner time so we got to eat the yummy food we made for dinner. The class was a good pace, the instructions were clear and the food was fantastic - definitely recommend :)
Best meal ever. Incredibly talented teacher/chef. Partner equally gifted in translating and guiding us. Definately a highlight of our trip. We have plans to recreate this meal at home!
This was the best cooking class I have experienced - based on other experiences in France, China, and the United States. Francesco, who is now the owner, and Julie , who also helped translate from Italian to English, both gave each of us (7 participants) individual attention on techniques, tips along the way, and patiently answered questions in between demonstrations. The food we created from all fresh and local ingredients was delicious and based on traditional local Tuscan cuisine! When any friends and family visit Siena, I will be recommending this experience! And for the reader here, you will enjoy every step of the process!
The class was very well organized, easy step-by-step processes for an outstanding 4 course meal (made by us)! We used all simple ingredients that are available everywhere so we can reproduce the recipes. Chef Francesco answered all questions with patience and great knowledge! It was one of the highlights of our trip! Highly recommended!
Was so pleased with this experience. The chef, Francesco (and translator) were both so patient, explaining everything and going at a pace that everyone could learn. The food was AMAZING, and the techniques taught will be able to be used back home. Highly recommend for a relaxing and delicious meal!
Class in Italian and English. Dish preparation fully explained. Facility very clean. The dinner at the end was great.
This was a lot of fun. An authentic cooking experience using locally sourced food. The instructor was fantastic. This was one of the highlights of my trip to Siena.
The class was very informative and fun! And the food was excellent! The instruction in English made it easy to follow and the written instructions helped as well. I would definitely recommend.
My family really enjoyed this. It was the highlight of our trip. It was so very well run/organized with multiple courses (soup, pasta, meat dish, dessert, and wine) we helped prepare. Every dish we created was one of the most delicious things ever. We (hopefully) can recreate when we return to the states! We met some nice people and shared a meal!
Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed our time with Francesco and Julie as we prepared a wonderful 4 course meal. We made the pasta by hand from start to finish and helped prep parts of all the other dishes. We learned a lot about food prep and cooking - especially how to take simple ingredients and turn them into amazing dishes. We met another group of four and enjoyed their company and family stories also. Sign up now! You won’t regret it!
This was a fun activity and we learned a lot about Tuscan cooking. Francesco was very good at answering all our questions and sharing his techniques. We prepared four delicious courses (soup, pasta and the sauce for it, meat and potatoes, and dessert) with three other couples who had signed up for the same class. Lots of good conversation over our meal, and everyone had a different “favorite dish”. Would definitely recommend!!
Wonderful experience! Hostess and chef were both great. Got to prepare (and eat) traditional Tuscon dishes that were truly delicious. Highly recommended!!
We loved every minute and have been talking about it our whole trip. So kind and knowledgeable and patient! We are good cooks but this upped our game. Well worth the time and money. A great capper to a day Siena!
My husband and I had the best time cooking lunch. We have a couple of dietary restrictions and they accommodated all of them. We have been to cooking classes before but this one was more technical than others. We would love to go back!
My husband and I truly enjoyed this experience. Francesco and Julie are the dynamic dou! All of the ingredients were so fresh and each recipe so fun to make. The dinner itself was so delicious, we were in awe that we helped make it! I can’t wait to recreate the recipes. We left the cooking class with a full belly, full heart and a new favorite memory in Siena. Thank you Francesco.
This was a wonderful cooking class, and one of our best meals in Italy, even though we helped make it! We can't wait to make the recipes again at home.
Such a fun experience—every dish we made was delicious, and Francesco and Julie made everything easy and enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend this class to anyone looking for a tasty and memorable activity!
This was a great cooking class. The teacher and English translator were friendly, knowledgeable and made it interesting and it was hands on. We loved every minute of the experience
Scuola di Cucina di Lella is a gem!!! From the moment we walked in the door we felt right at home. We were welcomed into this beautiful kitchen by Giulia and chef Francesco with open arms. They explained all that we will be making that evening and we eagerly got right into it. We made Pici (pasta), La Pappa col Pomodoro (soup), Chicken Escalopes, roasted potatoes, and Panna Cotta which all were mouthwatering .... even right now just thinking about them. The step-by-step process was so much fun because they made it fun. Asking for voluntaries I was able to get my mind, body and soul into knowing that we can create anything if you give yourself the space to do so. I was able to share the kitchen with chef Francesco and had so much fun because he made it fun and inviting for all to partake in. Once we got back home to the states my husband and I recreated this meal only 4 days after this class (which was recommended by Giulia after our meal) and had a blast doing so. The Pici is a work in process and will not give up in trying to create this very yummy pasta. The rest of the dishes came out perfectly!! This was our first cooking class ever and now that the bar has been set extremely high it will be difficult to compare others to it because of how perfect everything was. Thank you for making the end of our Italy Tuscany journey a special one to remember!! Ciao!!
The instructor Francesco gave a lively and informative class on Tuscan cooking. Our main hands-on activity was making pasta by hand, as well as chopping herbs to use in various dishes. We made a famous Tuscan vegetarian soup, pasta with tomato sauce, roasted potatoes and chicken scaloppini with a panacotta for dessert. Afterwards we aere the meal prepared with our fellow students. It would have been nice to do more of the food preparation ourselves, but the chef was very informative and gave plenty of hints along with the recipes for some authentic Tuscan dishes.
We loved our cooking class with Francesco and Julie! This was my husband's first foray into a cooking lesson and he had a blast. The teachers were charming and helpful, the food was delicious, and the other students pleasant company.
I have done this class several times. When friends come into Siena, I take them there. It is fun, and the food is wonderful. I love the staff there. They are well prepared and it is a great experience.
This class was well worth the cost - a full meal that was made with simple ingredients yet tasted like the most delicious gourmet meal you have ever tasted and I am an experienced gourmet chef. Great instruction and a very authentic experience.
The cooking class is amazing! The chef did an outstanding job of explaining the ingredients and process and demonstrated everything very clearly. Everyone in the class got involved and participated in preparing the meal!
What an incredible cooking class- first in Italian, then English with lots of group participation. And don’t forget the delicious food!!
We booked this cooking school as it was only a 1 min walk from our accommodation. It was more expensive than other cookimg classes but well worth it. This was the best meal we had on our Itakian vacation and we helped to prepare it but without the hassle of washing up afterwards! It was a 4 course meal with soup, pasta , pork and potatoes and dessert. We were so full! Everything was delicious and we learnt a lot about traditional Tuscan dishes and also some new techniques.
The lesson was fun and informative. We learned to prepare several courses as well as dessert. Recipes were provided and we were well-coached along the way. Although the chef was able to speak English there was also a translator/assistant who explained things. When done with the preparation, we got to eat what we had prepared. Delicious!
I ate too much! Wonderful food, wonderful chef, wonderful group participants! Still can’t make pici like it should be, but had a great time trying!
We loved the Tuscan Cooking Class in Siena. We participated in the preparation of a complete three course meal consisting of soup, pasta with sauce, and meat. We each made pasta from scratch, which is something we’d been wanting to do for awhile. When the cooking was complete, we were served a wonderful meal. The instructions and teaching were presented clearly and we gained valuable hands on experience. It has inspired us to try these recipes at home and improve our at-home dining.
We participated in some cooking activities but the instructors did most of the cooking and meal preparation to allow us to complete the meal in time. They provided written recipes and pens to take notes. The final meal was excellent.
My fiancé and l had the most incredible experience at this Tuscan cooking class. From the moment we arrived, Francesco and Giulia made us feel completely welcome. They are not only warm and kind hosts, but also so knowledgeable about the traditions and techniques behind Tuscan cuisine. Every step of the class was hands-on, fun, and full of little tips we’ll definitely take home with us. The dishes we prepared together turned out to be the best food we had during our entire stay in Siena—fresh, flavorful, and made with precision. Sharing the meal at the end with the other couple in the class felt like dining with friends rather than in a class. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs!) and cannot wait to recreate these recipes in our own kitchen. If you’re in Siena, this is an absolute must-do experience.
Great fun using cooking class recipes, hands on and a great meal at the end. Would recommend to lovers of fine food
I was so excited to take a cooking class as I am a self-taught cook and wanted to learn more about the art of Tuscan cuisine. However, I honestly was disappointed. The class was in English, which was very helpful when learning the various dishes and techniques. The recipes that were given to take home were extremely parsed down, which meant I needed to take notes. Taking notes was no problem, but I felt like the instructor moved pretty quickly and didn’t allow enough time for notes. Being a novice cook, I had questions throughout the class but the teacher didn’t respond kindly to the questions and either had an air of shock or condescension that I would ask such questions. I also felt singled out by the instructor during the class and almost everything I did was incorrect or needed to be fixed, except for stirring the pot. I came away from the class dispirited. I think this class or at least the instructor for the class is better suited for professional chefs who have the refined skills the instructor is looking for.
This was a fun experience with excellent food. I know, I made it! The teachers were fun and kind, and the dish was not too difficult!
Excellent chef and helper. Our experience was helpful. All was delicious and easy to understand. Highly professional and talented. Made us feel comfortable.
The cooking class was an amazing experience. Julie and Francesco were wonderful hosts and we learned so many new cooking techniques and learned a lot about the traditions of local Tuscan food. Would highly recommend. Pro tip: bring containers so you can bring home the food you don't finish during the meal. We couldn't finish all of our food, but it was delicious and you'll want to bring it home to finish later.
I have had cooking classes on several international trips to include a previous to Italy and trips to Morocco and Spain. All were great experiences but this was hands down the best. The food was great but the multi-lingual aspect along with cultural insights made it truly memorable.
