Wonderful ride with my niece. The horses were well cared for, the guide enquired about everyone’s previous experience to try and match with an appropriate horse and then offered some comedy en route through fields and forest. Full 1.5hr ride. Highly recommend.

Wonderful homely experience, nice staff, accommodating to your level of experience and knowledgeable about their horses. Always felt safe and secure on the route.
Our guide Aldo was great. Very safe and fun guided experience. Nice Tuscan countryside scenery passing hills and wheat fields.
it is in the middle of no where i had to hitch hike and take a bus . the bus takes you to a spot 30 minutes away by walking. good horse back riding! fun and nice
Everything was perfect.. we really enjoyed the ride and the view of the fields.. duration was also perfect
I had the most wonderful time on this trail ride. I found myself alone in Siena and needed to find something to do. I am so thankful I found this equestrian center. My guide was so friendly and the horses were well kept and well trained. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone!
The guide Aladdin was fantastic however the address given is not correct. The taxi from Siena cost me 40 euros to get there and the driver could not find it. After making 2 calls for me as I don't speak Italian and driving to 2 different centres he eventually found it. There was nobody there to greet me and no-body spoke English until the guide Aladdin showed up. Great tour but no Chianti Hills or vineyards seen. No transport back to Siena so the Equestrian Centre had to give me a lift back costing another 20 euros so in total 135 euros for the tour. I raised it with Viator but they insist the address is correct despite another reviewer saying the same. Poor customer service.
Calm well kept horses, friendly guide and beautiful scenery. Remote location so car is preferable. Definitely wear long pants as trails have overhanging branches that you can brush up against.
The guide and horses were great! Very relaxing tour. Iam an experienced rider but my husband not. They were very considerate of him. Horses very calm.
Great ride and friendly staffs. Would love them to have option for longer ride or other horse related activities
Phenomenal experience. Enjoyed every second. They match horse to rider experience. Beautiful scenery. Slow walk up to a gallop is speed level. Great guide!
Our riding experience was awesome, the horses were calm and sweet souls. Our guide from Gambia was so kind and made us feel very comfortable. Would highly recommend this trail ride. :)
Sadly, I must give this a poor review. It was advertised as a 2.5 hour ride in part through vineyards of the Tuscan countryside. It started one hour late and lasted less than 60 minutes. The guide was a very nice gentleman but was unable to take responsibility for the late start and short ride. Additionally, we did not see one vineyard. We are familiar with trail riding but the two novice women in our group who were enthusiastic but not confident/ comfortable with their horses definitely put a damper on an already below par ride. The horses were very calm and well behaved and easy to ride. After much back-and-forth through Viator chat and email, I received an unsatisfactory partial refund.
The guide was wonderful, everyone on the team was very kind. My fiancé and I had a great time, and we rode with one other couple. It was the first time my finance had ever rode and the guide was very helpful in teaching us certain techniques.
Bad, old and poorly groomed horses eventhough we advised the organiser firm the beginning that we were experienced riders. Great guide. Beautiful countryside.
We absolutely LOVED this experience! It was beautiful and our kids had the best time riding horses. Our guide was so fun, friendly and helpful. He was always making sure everyone was ok and that we were all safe. It was definitely a highlight of our Italy trip! This is a must!
I received an email from Viator that canceled my appointment for Monday September 4th. It asked me if I wanted to reschedule using an updated credit card as the original card did not go through. Of course I wanted to re register for the same day. So I quickly filled out the new payment information so that we could go on Monday the 4th as originally planned. I erroneously assumed that they were offering me Monday again. The new reservation unfortunately turned out to be on Saturday the 2nd shortly after I received the email that my original was canceled. So I was billed $165 for something I was unable to make as I was still in Florence.
Such a fun excursion!! Definitely book. There’s tons of horses for you to look at while you wait to start. The horses are pretty trained so if you’ve never ridden a horse before you’ll be fine. We also did this tour in July and it really wasn’t too hot. A lot of the trail is in the shade! Book it!
Horses were perfect trail horses, they were obedient and safe! For those who had bad experiences, I can understand how you may have been uncomfortable. If you traveled to Italy and had only drove a car a couple of times, would you rent a car and drive in Rome?? This is ultimately no different. If you don't know how to ride, you probably shouldn't be doing an excursion via horseback. Take a few lessons before you leave home (with an English trainer), at least get some basics and have some balance, and then you can safely enjoy a horseback riding excursions. The horses were great, Aladdin kept a close eye on us to make sure we were doing ok, and my husband and I had a great time. Highly recommend if you enjoy horseback riding.
We had a fantastic experience in the Chianti hills. Our guide was professional and cares for her horses well. The stables and setting were beautiful. Our ride was relaxed on very gentle horses that have been well trained and the trail was quiet, varied with green landscape and forest coverage. We were given time to enjoy and go at our own pace. We saw vines and the medieval town of Monteriggioni in the distance. It was a very enjoyable experience for our journey in Chianti, Siena. We would recommend even for beginners. Thank you.
Our guide was very kind however it is not only ten min from Siena. Difficult to get a taxi will drive there. When we arrived no one was expecting us and it was very disorganized. After 45 min someone put us on three horses and went for a beautiful ride. No waivers to sign. We literally could have shown up without paying and did a ride. It’s basically just someone’s home. However it was beautiful countryside and our guide was very nice.
Not a bad horse ride, but if you’re after a life changing experience lower your expectations. Place was rough around the edges, horses weren’t great for learners and were also very underweight. I’m an experienced rider and did enjoy the ride but we had a group of 10+ and some were complete beginners and found the ride/the horse’s behaviour scary at times. They shouldn’t really have had a group that big.
We booked six excursions through Viator for our seven day trip to Italy. This was our least favorite of them. A guy picked us up at the meet spot and he didn’t speak any English and we rode in his car for 30 minutes and arrived a the horse “ranch”- I guess you would call it? Our guide on the tour also did not speak much English or at least she didn’t speak much to us. Neither my husband nor I had ridden horses since childhood and there wasn’t much of an orientation or training so it was a bit scary. One of the guys working there saw me struggling and walked over and explained how to hold the reins. If you are used to horses I’m sure it’s fine. Everyone was very nice but there was no tour/explanation or pointing anything out about what we were seeing. It was just a ride through the estate on horseback. The views were pretty.
Unfortunately this experience was very underwhelming. I am a very experienced horseback rider and with that said there was a total lack of safety and instruction for those on the ride who had never been on a horse before. The guide did not show them how to position their feet so their feet would not slide through the stirrups or how to steer etc. The horses were fine overall but pulling the girls off out of the group to eat grass and then trotting off to catch up to the herd. This understandably had some of the girls quite frazzled and nervous. Additionally the guide barley talked the entire time. Was hoping for someone who would at least bother to educate a little bit about the area we were riding through. Sadly would not recommend.
Tour was great, beautiful country. The barn was clean the staff was pleasant. Our guide Aladdin was a lot of fun!!
Beautiful country side, horses were in great condition and very trustworthy. One had breathing troubles whilst we were out, the guide reassured us that the horse was ok, and did ring back to the yard in concern but they subsided pretty quickly. Wish we could have had more than an hour!
The scenery on the ride was amazing. The horses were beautiful. We felt safe always. The guides were fun and personable. ( Hint: GPS will take you to the wrong house. - the entrance is just before the wrong street between two stony columns that has a narrow entrance - easy to miss!).
Wonderful way to view the grape and olive vineyards and to learn about the local culture. Great experience!
Our guide Musa was so nice and patient with us as we were beginners without a lot of experience. There was a slight language barrier. Overall, the ride was a lot of fun and the horses had so much personality!
The countryside was beautiful and the people were very nice. I only wish it had been longer. They adjusted to each individual person’s skill level.
It was me and two other girls. As soon as we got there it was very strange because no one came to greet us or give us any instructions. Lucky I have been riding horses for a long time, but even with the experience I have I was nervous the whole time. The horses were doing what they wanted to do and our guide didn’t tell us a lot about how to control the horse. Because of this one of the girls fell off because the horse jumped over a hill. After this happened we continued on even though the horses were then scared and honestly we were too. When we got back our guide never said goodbye or even sorry to the girl that fell. We just had to stand there and wait for the driver. In my opinion this was a very dangerous situation that should have never happened. I know you can not always control what a horse does, but give more instructions and don’t give a new rider a jumping horse.
The horses were really sweet and the view was beautiful! But The tour guide didn’t speak English and it was overall a not very welcoming or helpful experience.
We were picked up in a sedan that smelled like smoke and were driven to the facility by a non-English speaking driver. Once we arrived we were given wet and dirty helmets and given about 30 seconds of instruction before mounting the horse and going on the walk. The “guide” barely spoke any English and did not say anything to us while we were in the walk. She literally did not point anything out but was on her phone the entire time. When we returned from the ride, we were given no instructions. After waiting around for 15 minutes we asked what we were supposed to do and were told we had to wait for the driver and other workers to “finish some work” before leaving. Terrible service, no information learned at all, not worth more than $5
Let's start with the written description: Giddy up! Traverse the hills of Tuscany via a unique mode of transportation with this 2.3-hour guided horseback tour from Siena. Roam the rolling hills, some clad in grapevines, others blanketed with olive groves, as you and your horse calmly explore the region. Follow the Via Francigena, an ancient pilgrimage route, and pass through rustic villages, all while learning about the history of the place from your guide. See stunning scenery that you would not have had the chance to encounter. 1.5-hour horseback riding tour through Tuscan hills and villages. Round-trip transport from Siena to the Tuscan countryside by air-conditioned minibus We aren't picky tourists...but this was kind of a waste of our time and $$. Considering the area we were. #1. Our van/driver was 1/2 hour late with no notice sent to any of those waiting. When he did arrive he couldn't speak a word of English. We got in a van that we all just assumed was for the horse tour. The van was very dirty as well!! #2. We arrive at the stables, which were amazing with lots of beautiful horses, and our guide couldn't speak a word of English. Now how the heck are we to figure out what to do. He had us sign a waiver, and then it took at least another 1/2 hr to 45 mins to get us all on horses with no explanation. (there were 5 of us) We've been on horses before so it was ok, but wasn't sure about the others. #3. Finally, we take off on our path. I expected to see the rolling Tuscany hills, groves of beautiful olive trees, the grapevines, etc etc. What we saw on this tour did not match. We saw more beautiful scenery from our vespa tour (Tuscany Cycle....check them out) We rode thru some wooded area with low hanging branches that didn't show us anything. I didn't think the views were anything special. The best thing we saw was a Shephard with his flock of sheep and 2 dogs. #4. Since our guide couldn't speak English, as our reservation stated we would have an English guide, we had no history of the region or any comments whatsoever. Glad we didn't have an emergency. #5. My horse had a bad leg and had a hard time getting down a hill and about fell down but the guide didn't come back and check it out, didn't come back to see if I needed help, NOTHING!! It was a beautiful day and that was about all that was overly positive of our tour. #6. Our trip is over and we arrive back at the stables. Our useless guide disappeared and our van driver was sitting around talking to some other people for a good 1/2 hr while we all waited for him to take us back. Just not a pleasant experience.
Unfortunately it was cold, overcast and damp the day (early May) we rode through the Tuscan countryside. We were picked up at the Piazza Gramsci in Siena. Our driver was several minutes late. It was approximately a 20-25 minute drive to the riding center. Our group of three had two experienced riders and one beginner. We all felt comfortable riding the well-mannered horses. Our guide did not speak English so we had little interaction with him. It would have been nice to have had a guide who could have shared the wine culture and history of the area with us. He did point out Monteriggioni and San Gimignano off in the distance. The countryside was beautiful to explore despite the challenging weather and language barrier. Overall it was a good experience. We only wish that the weather was better and that our guide spoke English.
We had a great afternoon with our guild riding up and down the hills of Seina. She was fabulous, fun and a great guild. We saw wild life which included sheep. Went through wine and olive fields, walked and ran when we wanted to - Just and great time
As a family of four we booked an afternoon horse ride. None of us are experienced riders and my teenage son hadn’t ever ridden a horse. The driver at pick up had no English and our tour guide very, very basic. We were asked to sign a disclaimer, given helmets and our horses and we were off. No instructions. The scenery is breathtaking. That is the only part of the description that is correct. About 3 quarters of the way through the ride the horse in front of mine kicked out nearly throwing my son off. The kick got me on my shin. As my horse reacted I fell off. My leg was bleeding and swelling. I led my horse for a bit to stop my leg from stiffening then rode again then led again when going done a steep incline that put more pressure on my leg. My horse was fine. On our return to the stables I was not offered anything to clean my leg up. There was quite a bit of blood and considerable swelling. I found a hose and used my own tissues to clean myself up. Our guide left us immediately and our driver appeared and took us back to Siena.

Not sure where to begin. Sadly, my wife and I did not have the same experience as all the previous reviews. Perhaps different stables are used.

In full disclosure, this was my first experience riding horses. No previous skill. So I had no presumptions of it being a perfectly smooth ride. But when the description stated that all levels of skill would be welcome, I had no concerns. I expected some introduction on how to ride and control the horse, but that never happened. Simply, here's your helmet and off you go...and did we ever. We did not travel down a path as shown in the tour picture, but instead began by going up a steep climb. Eventually, we turned into the woods down a very narrow path that had been washed out from recent heavy rains. The trail was so deep in mud that the horses found it slippery. It made them skittish and unstable. Mine eventually slipped and fell down. I was thrown from the horse, but somehow I walked away with just scrapes and bruises....nothing serious. The guest behind me said he couldn't believe I wasn't seriously injured. Fortunately, the horse was ok as well. One other guest was thrown from her horse too. After getting back to my feet, wiping off the mud, and eventually finding my horse, I was able to climb back up and continue the journey through the muddy trail. After a nervous 25 minutes, we returned to the stables. I was so glad to be back on my feet and heading home in one piece.

Some other issues we had with the tour...

1. No responses to the two messages I sent prior to the tour asking for clarification as to the tour location. We were staying in Poggibonsi, not Siena. When we never head back, we decided to drive to the meeting point in Siena 40 km away. It turned out that the stables were only 7 km away Poggibonsi. Very frustrating.
2. Despite being listed as an English speaking tour, no one did. Not the driver, not the stable hands who helped us onto our horses, and not the tour guide.
3. Except for the other guests, no one bothered to ask if I was ok after falling. No one from the tour checked on me immediately after falling or upon returning to the stables.
4. Was so busy trying to control the horse that I never got to see the Tuscan Hills

Would give 0 stars if possible. Would NOT recommend.

Though the horseback ride was livelier than the slow plod I had been expecting, the scenery was unbelievable. A lovely ride through vineyards, forests, olive groves and fields with gorgeous views across miles of greenery to the distant towers of San Gemignano, Montereggioni, Chianti, completely unobstructed by roads, power lines, cars, railroads, etc. The guide, Marco, was pleasant, calming and reassuring.

We had high expectations of this tour, and they were exceeded! We had a wonderful ride through the Tuscan hills, guided by Francesco and accompanied by his assistant and Aki the dog, who sniffed out pheasants and led the way for our little group. We rode at a leisurely pace through all sorts of terrain, each with its own distinctive beauty. We were collected from our hotel in central Siena and dropped off there following our ride and handled warmly, kindly and professionally all the way. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and highly recommendable.

loved it, great horses, views, and people! my mom and i did a1.5 hr trail ride.

Beautiful scenery throughout the whole ride. Very good guide and driver. Well kept healthy horses.

Excellent hosts, the staff and owner were gracious and very accomodating to our needs. The group of riders ranged from 'never on a horse' to experienced riders and every one of us enjoyed the ride.
Thanks for a terrific experience.
DH

No experience necessary, very gentle and interesting ride through the fields and woods of the Tuscan countryside. Very pleasant and a nice experience, well worth doing!

I expected a bit more of actual explanation about the region, the area, etc... But it was just a horse back riding walk through the fields around an Equestrian Club. Nevertheless, it was a nice experience.

This was nice to ride in the Tuscan Hills, the views were beautiful. All you did was walk on the horse, great for people who don't ride much.

We really loved the tour-it was run very efficiently and safely! The sights and trails were beautiful! Our trail guide pointed out various highlights during the trip.

It was a decent experience but would not recommend it to others. Our ride to the farm was very nice however our guide during the horseback ride didn't seem very enthused and the horseback ride was a bit boring and slow.

This tour was quite nice. Lovely views of the countryside. Well behaved horses. Friendly owner. Very pleasant way to spend a morning.

could not have been better; it was the highlight of my whole trip, delightful people
