My wife and I had one of the great meals of our lives at the vineyard in September 2018: perfectly paired wines and food, a magnificent view up the hill to San Gimignano, and a stroll in the vineyard afterward. We absolutely loved it. When the estate offered to bring the dining experience to the U.S. earlier this month, we shared that experience with friends in an evening full of tastes, laughter, and new sensations. The instruction in meal prep, wine and oil tasting, and the joy of gathering created another great experience. We still order olive oil from the estate.

We sat tasting wine and olive oils facing the beautiful hills of San Gimignano! Our lunch was incredible! Wine was delicious! Great experience!
Outstanding! Very relaxing enjoyable way to spend a few hours in San gimighnano. Staff couldn’t be more accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed.
Our waiter was very knowledgible and kind. The views and surroundings are absolutely beautiful. We had the Tuscan lunch which had great selection of EVOs, balsamico and wines.
Nice location, views of San Gimignano. We were 20 minutes late after our train from Florence to San Gimignano was cancelled last minute. The staff wasn't engaging or welcoming. The wine was mediocre and the food tastings bland. Look for something with your time and money
What an incredible experience! Nestled amongst the rolling hills of Tuscany overlooking the vineyards and lavender, the location was perfect. Our server (I have forgotten his name, but he was very knowledgeable!) explained each wine to us together with the many olive oils. From the food to the oil to the wine - every bit a delectable experience. Would throughly recommend this place to anyone visiting the San Gimignano area.
Good information about each wine and oil. The food was also very tasty. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I recommend this wine tasting
Servers were very friendly, knowledgeable and took their time to explain the various oils, vinegars and wine. The food was delicious and no one rushed us to move onto the next course. Their view is spectacular!!
This place is magical. We made bruschetta and pasta then enjoyed some wine to go with it afterwards with an incredible view of the Tuscan hills. Everyone that worked here was professional, considerate, and attentive. My wife and I had to pinch ourselves because it seemed to be a dream. Can’t say enough great things about this experience, a must go to fully experience the Tuscan beauty.
What a shear delight. We had a most wonderful afternoon tasting organically grown grapes and food with such a knowledgeable young man who helped explain each wine we drank as well as the organic pasta meal that came with the wines. Unlike wine tasting I’ve been to in the US each variety we tasted was a full glass so the four of us finished each bottle. The bottles were paired nicely with breads crackers and other sorted delights. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better they brought out a delicious pasta lunch with our last bottle of reserve red wine. Could not have asked for more
We had a wonderful time. Everything was exquisite. From the service, the wine, the EVO oil, the food to the view. Make sure you reserve ahead because they were fully booked on a Friday afternoon…
Everything worked perfectly. The food, wine, olive oils and balsamic were very tasty. The staff was very friendly and the view to the city of San Gimignano was really nice. We enjoyed every moment of it!
This tour totally exceeded our expectations! We thought we would be tasting wine in some dark cellar. Instead, we were seated on a beautiful sunny veranda where we were served by the lovely Margarita. We spent over 90 minutes tasting four wines, three balsamic vinegars, and six different olive oils. And the food just kept on coming out! Everything was delicious!! And from there, a short drive to San Gimignagno and great shopping. Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved our wine tasting and meal here. Staff were so kind and helpful. Food was absolutely delicious. And of course the wine! Fantastic. Thanks so much for a lovely experience. We did the wine olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting with 4 course meal.
Beautiful view to San Gimignano, good food, nice and friendly people 👍. Good wines and different kinds of olive oils. Really cosy atmosphere.
This tour was wonderful in every aspect. The food was paired with the balsamic, wine and olive oils. Our guide explained the different items we were eating. The tour ended up being a wonderful expression of Italian culture. Highly recommend the tour
The setting and lunch were fabulous! The winery treated us to a private room overlooking their vineyard and facing the fabulous, historic town of San Gimignano. Right outside town so easy to walk to. The only reason I gave 4 stars vs 5 was that it would’ve been nice to have a bit longer winery tour.
The service here matched the views. Absolutely amazing. They did a great job explaining all the wines and foods to us. Definitely recommend trying it out if your in the area.
Beautiful place, great food and wine, and lovely presentation by our guide Adriano. Just a short walk from San Gimigniano. Don't miss it.
The outdoor seating was lovely. We enjoyed the whole experience. The food was very good and Davide did a great job of explaining everything to us.
The winery, Davide was full of information and really knew his wines, was an extremely friendly nice man.
Amazing time! We hunted for truffles, had beautiful pairings of wine with our meal. Wonderful and knowledgeable hosts! I would definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful afternoon. We really enjoyed our Tuscan lunch and delicious wine. Their wines are excellent. We purchased some wine and olive oils.
It was without doubt our favorite winery in Tuscany. Very familiar but professional atmosphere, attentive service and very good products. We vsited the vineryad and were lucky enough to see the bottling happening in the cellar on that day. The wines were of excellent quality and we decided to have them shipped home. A super experience. The only warning: do not go without a reservation, you will hardly find a table!
Delightful afternoon! We really enjoyed our tour and tasting! Nice snacks to accompany the delicious wines. The biggest surprise was the gorgeous setting- rustic tables tucked under trees and umbrellas with the San Gimignano skyline as the back drop. Unrushed and personal. Highly recommend.
We have visited many wineries and this remains our favorite! The wine is great . Pietro, Corado, Sylvia and Luigi are amazing. They make us feel like VIP’s!!! Beautiful!
This was such a lovely lunch and vineyard experience!! My boyfriend and I were visiting San Gimignano for the weekend and wanted to do a wine tasting experience that wouldn't take up too much of our day. We arrived at 11:30 and were the only party there for most of the morning. Davide guided us through each wine and olive oil sample while giving us time in between each tasting to enjoy the food and savor the samples. After an incredible lunch and tasting, he gave us a short tour of the vineyard. After explaining the history of the vineyard and growing techniques he encouraged us to take a walk alone through the grounds. Because it was so hot, we really appreciated that the tour was not too long and more time was spent eating, drinking and relaxing. Davide was amazing and we couldn't recommend this experience more!! You will not regret it!
We did not really do much research on this - we had booked a private tour of Tuscany from our stay in Florence and she arranged this. It exceeded, no it blew away our expectations. The view, the hospitality, the private experience and of course the wine, olive oil and food! Can't say enough wonderful things about this experience. We of course purchased some wine and oil to be sent back to the US so that we could relive the experience, but there was no real pressure for us to purchase, just simple hospitality.
We were staying in Florence, with a day touring the Tuscan area. Our driver suggested we have lunch and a wine tasting, sort of spur of the moment, and we are so glad he did. I can't add too much more to what's already been said, but we were met by one of the family members (Jessica) and she made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until we left. The wines, oils, food were all terrific. The views were amazing.
Our local drivers recommended that we have lunch at Podere La Marronaia. They told us, "we know the owners, let us take care of it for you." We were a group of 15,( 7 adults 8 kids). When we arrived at 12:30 they were ready for us. They gave us a quick tour of the winery and sat us at a table outside under an umbrella with a breathtaking view of San Gimigiany. It was absolutely amazing. We had a 4 course delicious lunch and drank 6 bottles of wines that they recommended. The olive oil is the best I've ever had. We ate, we drank, and we took amazing pictures!! The family run winery is a must do in the Tuscany region. Their hospitality was spectacular. After we were done eating, drinking and buying wine, it was a quick trip to San Gimigiany to have gelato at the world famous Gelateria Dondoli.
We visited the winery and stayed the afternoon. It was an unforgettable experience and the staff, wine, food and views were incredible. They offer bottles to be shipped to the US for free and we can’t wait to get a little taste of Italy at home. We can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. They made our engagement one to remember. Can’t wait to come back!!
My wife, two, late teenage daughters and myself, arrived here as part of a full day Tuscany tour hosted by the Roman Guy group. We got lucky in that we were the only ones scheduled for the tour that day, so we had the drive and the various experiences all to ourselves. We met the guide and the driver (Fabio) just outside the Fortezza (Viale Filippo Strozzi). We were driven in a nice Mercedes mini-bus. After a tour of the village of San Gimignano we headed to the family run vineyard for a wonderful lunch. We were met by one of the sons of the family, along with one of their cool dogs, and given a brief overview of the winery as we looked out over the small vineyard on the hillside. The views of the area were so picturesque. Every direction you looked was a postcard in waiting. After the brief overview we were seated at one of the three main tables setup on the lawn adjacent to the main building of the winery. We noticed there was also a dining room inside. Another son handled the four course meal with a selection of their wines for each of the courses. The tour group recommended bringing an empty stomach and they were not kidding... we were stuffed by the end of the meal 😄💚❤️ with meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, pasta and dessert. The wines included white, two types of red and a dessert wine - all from their vineyard. They also provided a set of their line of olive oils, produced from their own olive trees. While the place is fairly close to the village and a main road, the small property had an isolated and intimate feel to it. It was not very crowded either, with only a few other parties in evidence during our nearly two hour stay. We liked it so much that we decided to select a sampling of their wine an olive oil to be shipped back to our home in the USA. They have a six bottle minimum, so we chose a few different types of wine and one bottle of olive oil.
This was one of the highlights of our trip. The views are spectacular, the wine is delicious and the hosts are incredible. A true family business. They also make you feel like you are part of the family. I highly recommend this vineyard.
We stayed here for a tasting with Tuscan lunch. The location is really beautiful, with a breathtaking view of San Gimignano. The wine tasting was pleasant and well organized, and overall the experience has strengths. That said, considering the price of 64€ per person, the lunch did not live up to expectations. The appetizers included a platter of cold cuts and cheeses, good, but flanked by a second assortment decidedly less convincing: some preparations seemed unfresh and undervalued. Among these, croutons with beans and onion with an unbalanced flavor, pizzas heated with onion, very dry savory muffins and omelettes with peas without particular character. The first courses didn’t improve the overall impression: the tomato gruel was probably the worst I’ve ever eaten, practically chopped bread with very little tomato, without flavor or creaminess. The cheese and lemon dumplings were good, but rather banal and unmemorable. In summary, a lovely place and a pleasant wine tasting, but a gastronomic proposal that, especially in relation to the price, deserves greater care and quality.
We arrived almost 1 hour and a half early and we were very well received. They even offered us to start earlier. The fantastic wines, we tried 6 labels with detailed explanation of each. Adriano was extremely kind and friendly. The food an entry of colds that were very tasty and then a nhoque with crisp (very good) and a tomato paste. Nothing from the other world , I didn 't expect anything spectacular , but it was fair .
We have known the family for 12 years and have seen everything come into being. So when we visit every year it is always a warm greeting and exchange of how everyone is doing. Silvia, Luigi, Pietro and Corrado and also Vittoria and everyone else have built something wonderful. We are always treated to a delicious tasting of their wines of which we always have some in the Netherlands at home. This year we had another fantastic lunch. Adriano has helped us exquisitely by not only explaining the wine, but also in addition to the olive oil varieties new aceto-balsamic creations. The wine tasted good, the food with the cheese, the prosciuto and the pasta was delicious, with another dessert and an espresso. All this in the garden, under the umbrella on a sun-drenched day, overlooking the old San Gimignano over the vineyards. This was exactly a week ago when I wrote this at home. The farewell is always emotional and cordial, by now through his Pietro and Vittoria married yesterday and our order of wine and oil will be delivered tomorrow at home. A top company with lovely hardworking people, I can recommend a wine tasting (especially in the garden!) of La Marronaia to everyone!
For the price paid it was an experience that I would do again. Given that the place is really nice and attention to detail; a family-run farm that carries on passion and tradition. We booked a tasting with lunch with English guide (all employees speak fluently). 4 glasses of wine, various types of extra virgin olive oil and between different types of balsamic. Mixed platter as an appetizer and encore of Tuscan first courses. Our guide recommended the wines to pair with the dishes, also telling us the story behind each bottle. It would have been nice to know also some more characteristics of the wines, how it is processed, in short, get a little more specific. In general I highly recommend.
Beautiful location, excellent lunch and tasting and really courteous and prepared staff. Just the product costs a little high... Experience still to try
A little too impersonal, poor presentation of wines, very commercial, ok tapas, good location relative to San Gimanginano and Volterra
A truly rewarding day of discovery With a tasting at the top Who does not hesitate to let us know other type of wine of the tasting planned Very nice person and always present The meal was very good The tour and explanations of the vineyards was also interesting Thanks to you
I booked a wine, oil and balsamic vinegar tasting with Tuscan lunch. The place is beautiful and very characteristic, the vineyards and the environment in general are carefully cared for. The products offered are very good and the food great, tell the best of Tuscany. The staff is very kind, knowledgeable and passionate. Unmissable..
Excellent explanations during the visit and truly unparalleled hospitality. A pleasant tour full of emotions both in taste and in the view.
Schönes Ambiente. Nette Bedienung und gutes Essen. Der Wein und das Oel war leider nicht nach unserem Geschmack. Aber alles in einem ein tolles Erlebnis.
What a beautiful discovery! David was very welcoming and caring with us. The place is charming and quiet. The tour is succinct but enough to learn a few things. The meal with wine and olive oil tasting was more than correct for an affordable price! I recommend 100% Thank you for everything
Here in early July had a tour and explanation about the vineyard. And then had a delicious Tuscan lunch with a wine tasting (5 different) and oil tasting (6 different). Very friendly welcome!
A magical place Among vineyards and olive groves, thanks to Jessica for pampering me! Very positive experience!
