It was a lovely location at a very old château in the Tuscan hills. Owned by the same family for 5 centuries, they make a very nice Brunello wine as well as some good local wines. The tour included a quick walk around the castle and a visit to the cellars. The guide was very nice, but did not volunteer much information about the winery or their vinification processes. The tasting included 4 wines, two of which were very good, but the prices were much higher than justified. We had expected to buy some wine, but did not as the price was too high.

This was an incredible wine tasting experience during our girls trip to Italy! The drive to the winery is absolutely spectacular. Upon arrival we were greeted by warm and friendly staff (and very sweet dogs). Alice was our hostess and walked us through this magnificent structure and taught us so much about the history within its walls. The wines were incredible and we all bought some to enjoy during the rest of our trip. Once again, Alice’s knowledge of the wines was thorough and helpful. All in, this experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend.
Our tour and wine tasting was very informative and a wonderful experience. Lorenzo, our guide was amazing. I would highly recommend this tour.
This wine tasting was a lot of fun; our guide gave us the history of the castle and showed us the wine cellar and discussed the specialties of the winery. We had a lovely tasting of several wines. There were only 4 of us total so that made it nice and intimate. Wine was excellent. Would recommend.
Cute smaller castle with a wonderful view and excellent wine. Learned a lot about the owner family and wine production, the guide was very knowledgeable! We definitely recommend!
What a beautiful vineyard. Our guide ,Alice, was wonderful. She opened so many delicious bottles of wine it was hard to choose which we liked best. This tour is a must in Tuscany !
Alice was very personable and took good care of us. She led us through the beautiful property giving us the historical background of the fortress, family and area, as well teaching us about Brunello wine and the winery. The tasting room was filled with old world antiques and decor. I felt I was in a castle! The wine and cheese were delicious, the other couple who joined us were lovely. We had a great time. Thank you Alice!!
Our experience did not meet our expectations. Arrived early and not a good place to wait. Our tour was only 40 min, started about 12 min late. A non English tour started at the same time as ours was supposed to start and didn’t come in for the tasting till we were all done, lasting twice as long as our tour. We were very disappointed in the quality of the tour, and we have always had good luck with viator.
The location was lovely: high on a hilltop a 1700s building. Our tour of the vineyard’s operations was about 30 minutes. Our tour guide Alessio was very knowledgeable and quite funny once we were in the tasting room. Our tour group was limited to 10 people which gave everyone a good opportunity to ask questions. They gave us four of their Brunello wines to taste and explained their various qualities. All in all, a very enjoyable time.
As compared to ones in Chianti, this was a total rip off for 55 euros. I wouldn’t even if it was free. Clearly looks like reviews are managed. The wine tour lasted for about 30mins and most time was spent at wine tasting. Wines were from 2024 and atrocious. The Brunello was from 2020 (just about the legal age). Most of my fellow tasters left their wines or threw it. No one bought any bottles. Do not recommend. The only grace was the tour guide was polite and helpful.
Very informative and we were able to see the grapes being harvested and put through machine and tested for sugar content. Very cool. Building is an Old fortress
It was wonderful we are the great time the wine testing was great wish we could come back again highly recommended to other people
We walked the Via Francigena from Buonoconvento thru the Tuscan hills and farmland to this gorgeous and peaceful hilltop vineyard property. The history shared about the fortress was fascinating and our tour guide Alice was Incredibly knowledgeable and expert at sharing the grape growing and wine making process. And we were made to feel very comfortable during the wine tasting. An excellent experience all around.
A worthy detour to a rejuvenated winery. The guide had a great deal of care in the tour and the wine itself was fantastic. (We order half a case!)
I cannot say enough nice things about this tour and tasting. Alice was an amazing, making sure my group got to see and taste everything this winery had to offer. We felt as though we were guests of the family, and you do not want to miss this beautiful spot and wonderful people.
Brilliant tour and experience. Have been on lots of wine tours in different regions around the world and this is in top 2. Our guide Alice was very welcoming and friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Very accommodating as well considering we showed up a day early for our tour and they still went ahead with it, even though there was nobody booked for a tour at that time and day. If you want a place to learn about and taste some fantastic Brunello, this is it. Thank you for being such a great place.
The wine tasting followed a lovely tour of the winery. We bought a case to be shipped back to us in US. The snacks were a little light--just crackers. A cheese board would have been a nice addition. The guide should also use a microphone or speak up a bit. He was very nice but talked a bit softly.
It was a very good indeed. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all the groups questions and took us through the whole process from the vineyard through the distillery and cellar. The wine tasting experience was good as well. Get ready to buy some wine.
It was nice that even because of the heavy rain we could do the tasting and it was wonderful to learn about Brunello. The tour guide information was great. It would've been nice to have larger pours and maybe more snacks. But it was a good learning experience.
The staff was engaging very knowledgeable and patient. We had 3 children 4 and under we had a great time great wine as well
We had a great experience in a wonderful place. The staff was very kind and helpful. 100% recommended.
Want to taste an excellent Brunello? This is it! This is one of Montalcino's finest Brunello wineries you won't want to miss.
The tour was informative and interesting. It was very informative to hear about the history of the castle. The tasting was also informative. Very professional and welcoming of questions.
We recently had the incredible experience of this wine tasting in Montalcino, strong recommendation. The venue was amazing, dating back to 1441. Our guide Alessio was great and the wines exceptional!
Montalcino and its surroundings are amazing. Used to ride along the hills with my motorbike fourty years ago. This time we had friends staying with us and I booked the wine tasting experience. The 'castle' has undergone various changes through the centuries but has kept its allure. You can see the vineyards where they produce the various types of wine: IGT, rosso and Brunello, all placed at different hight. Our English guide was very well prepared to answer all our questions. The wine tasting reached its apex when we were asked if we wanted to try an 'unblended' Brunello. Simply fantastic. We had the tasting session in an amazing room, away from the other groups. This made the overall experience 'divine'. We all enjoyed the experience.
A very enjoyable tour with knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. Definitely a tour not to be missed. An added extra was the wine production method which made it vegan!!!
Have nothing but good things to say about this experience. You can't really go wrong, drinking beautiful wine on a beautiful property. The tour took us around the property with some history of the Brunello Family and their different grape varieties. We then were treated to several varieties for tasting in a beautiful dining room. It was interesting, in no way boring, and we had a really handsome Italian guide who spoke perfect English.
Excellent tour guide and beautiful locale. Wine was excellent as was the scenery. We highly recommend
Wow, the views, the tour and the wine tasting….amazing! We couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience!!! The guide was knowledgeable and the wine is delicious! We shipped some home to the states and continue to enjoy the experience!
This was an excellent experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind. The location is just beautiful and the wine is great!
We would not be able to make our tour time due to car rent Al issues. They wouldn’t give a refund back. No problem, not their fault. We still wanted to come and have a tasting and buy some bottles. No credit given. Probably too big an operation to help out.
Had a great experience. One of the wine makers gave us a tour and explained a great deal about the wine, the ancient castle, the different fields, and how wine is made. He did a great job. Sorry, cannot remember his name right now. The tasting was great, and the wine, especially the Brunello, out of this world. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. Just the drive from Siena to the winery was worth the experience.
We had a very informative tour of the grounds, vineyard and winery. Alessio was great and made it very interesting and enjoyable. The wine was delicious.
Lovely place and superb wine tasting. Fantastic location not far from Montalcino. The Brunello was very good.
I found the excursion at the last minute and they were able to accommodate us into a very nice group of 8. The entire setting was great. The tour of the grounds was very informative and our host was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The wines were exquisite. Buy a few bottles there, they are great wines.
Beautiful setting. Wonderful guide Alessandro who really made the tour special with his entertaining and Interesting overview. Great vino too
The location for this winery was not correct. Castella Trechere was the meeting point which should have been Castella Altieri. Putting Trechere into the GPS caused us to go to a wrong location and look us many miles out of our way. Also, because of the location we lost GPS coverage multiple times. We called the winery to say we would be very late and the winery did accommodate us. Also, the write up indicated "food tasting" was included. Crackers should not be considered "food tasting".
We arrived like 20-30 min early to have a look around and had to use the restroom first. I tried to talk to one of the employees who looked super annoyed , and then finished the conversation she was having with her co-workers before she would even give us the time of day. The experience was a total disappointment, we got a brief (5 min) tour of the wine making process and history of the place. Even though this part was very brief, the guy giving the tour was enthusiastic and did a good job. We were then asked to go upstairs for the wine tasting itself where we got to try 3 wines out of which only two were the actual product. The last wine was not officially out yet but we got to sample it because they were out of the 2018. Can’t say much about the wine sampling since we didn’t get the full experience. The person hosting the wine tasting was the same unbothered woman who was our first encounter upon arrival. We ended up leaving the place 42 minutes after the tour started, by that time the tour was already finished anyways and there was this weird, unwelcoming feeling in general so we just decided to leave. Had high expectations of this place but it was the worst wine tasting experience we have been to and the most unwelcoming setting we have been to in Italy ever. Spend your money elsewhere.
Most interresting and nice tour. Friendly and knowlageable guide. Beautiful surroundings and great wine.
Great visit Well informed Great Wine Hospitality was great Tasting room was very nice Would highly recommend this experience
Beautiful location, very informative, and our children (ages 7 and 10) could play in the grass while we enjoyed a great bottle of wine.
We loved our wine tasting experience. The guide was very knowledgeable and the place was just gorgeous. The wines were lovely. They were very accommodating since we traveled with children. Also very competitive price in comparison to other similar experiences.
We really liked the experience, we learned a lot, the guide seems to have a lot of knowledge on the subject of wine and everyone was very friendly. Excellent wine tasting, and beautiful place, I fully recommend
Amazing experience and very well explained. We learned a lot from Sara our tour guide and sommelier.
Reasonably priced. Tour guide was one of the wine production managers, extremely knowledgeable. Delicious wine tasting. Top quality Brunello wine is expensive and hard to find in the USA. You can buy 6 or 12 bottles for reasonable price and ship to USA for 60 or 90 euros respectively.
Sarra was a fantastic guide. Her knowledge as a sommelier and her connection to the winery made for a rich experience. The Brunello was also delizioso!
It was very easy to contact the organization via email, to ask for details and to arrange for the wine tasting experience. Payment method very straightforward. Email reminders to keep in mind where and when the experience will take place. On site, a very nice person with a huge knowledge guided us during the tour of Castello Tricerchi. Wines were really amazing. In general, a really satisfactory experience.
We had the pleasure of meeting Paolo who walked us through the history of the castle and the wine-making process. We got to taste wine at the different stages. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the factors that affect each element of the wine and explained things in a very clear manner. The tasting was outstanding, showcasing the differences between the grapes grown just a few meters away from each other. We loved the experience and would highly recommend it as a couple’s activity or with friends.
I chose this tour out of curiosity about the castle and the Brunello and it was a great experience. Quick but interesting winery and castle tour Teresa was able to captivate us with her stories about the history of the castle and fascinate us with the presentations of the Brunello. We had the opportunity to taste several very good vintages. A very interesting experience of about an hour and a half that I recommend.
Very personal guidance, competent, open to questions. Time for the tasting.
