Montalcino: Brunello Wine Tasting & Lunch In A Tuscan Castle

Love, love, loved this tour!!! The food and wine pairing was excellent and the location is absolutely beautiful!

We loved this experience and the castle was beautiful! They gave us a tour with lots of history and information. The tour included the outside and some inside of the castle, as well as a tour of where and how they made the wine. Then we went to nicely set tables where they gave us a 3 course lunch and we tasted 4 different wines. It was amazing and even the food was good! We enjoyed and hope to visit again!

We had a fantastic experience at Castello Tricerchi tasting 4 wines and enjoying a 3-course lunch. Alice guided my wife and me, along with several other American and Canadian couples, first on a tour of the castle grounds and then through the tasting inside. Alice was extremely well-informed about the history of the castle (completed 1441) and its primary owners the Tricerchi/Squarcia family. She enthusiastically explained the various uses of the buildings, including its historical service as a hospital and cattle farm, before its transformation into its current status as one of 250 officially certified Brunello wine producers in the Montalcino area. For lunch we had an antinpasto that included meats, cheeses and pate, followed by pick pasta with wild boar ragú, and dessert. We had a red table wine, a rosso di Montalcino, and a 2020 and a 2021 Brunello di Montalcino all from the vineyard at C. Tricerchi. We purchased two bottles of the 2021 Brunello which we liked very much. They packaged both bottles in handsome black boxes with the Tricerchi insignia. Excellent tasting, food, and tour with Alice.

The winery was very interesting, and the tour explained the winemaking process as well as the age of the castle. The tour guide gave a thorough walk-through, the medieval castle. The wine tasting was great with food.

Fantastic time! Got to explore the property and learn some of its history from a very knowledgeable worker. Food was delicious as was the wine and the views were breathtaking

The setting is beautiful and it was the last day of harvest so were able to see the de stemming process. The guide was knowledgeable and funny and made it all very enjoyable. The food was superb— very ample portions with wine pairing. I leaned a lot about the Brunelo designation

We were staying in Montalcino and drove the short distance to this winery. The tour was informative and fun. The host/guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds are beautiful with wonderful views. We had a fantastic weather day for this too. The wines were good. Brunello is one of my favorite wines ever since we visited Montalcino on a day trip 4 years ago. The food was good and we enjoyed talking with the other people on the tour. Highly recommend this experience.

The experience and history of the castle was interesting. The wine testing was not as good when compared to other wineries considering the quality of wines, tapas and food. For the top wines they did not provide a clean glass and poured it in used glasses, unexpected and dissapointing. The leftover wine was combined with their top of the line wines for us to taste.. Tapas served to match the wines were ok, it only served its purpose. We were not able to appreciate the tasting of the Brunello.

This was an amazing experience. Way more than I had expected. We started with a tour of the property, lead by a very knowledgeable young lady (name escapes me). This was followed by a tasting experience of 4 of their wines (2 Brunellos), paired with a very nice lunch, antipasto and a wonderful, home made pasta. Of course, the best part was getting to meet so many fellow travelers during the lunch. It started down pouring as we headed back out to the car, so we all stayed inside for a while longer. There was no feeling of being rushed out of there because “our time was up”. This trip far exceeded expectations and was a great value at the offered price. This is a trip I will do again the next time I come back to the area.

A truly enjoyable experience from learning about this small winery to a very tasty lunch. We met so many interesting people while enjoying a beautiful view of the Tuscany hills and tasting some interesting wines from the region. We had a great experience and definitely recommend it.

I loved the tour, history, lunch, and most definitely the wine. It was not overcrowded and felt intimate. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. It was a special wine tasting and I would definitely recommend.

The guide, Alice was great! The views were amazing. The wine and food were wonderful. Stairs, gravel, and hills can be difficult to navigate for some.

More than a corporate wine tour, this felt like a home visit with friends. Alice was a warm and wonderful guide who explained the history of the castle, the origins of winemaking in the region, and daily life in her part of Tuscany. A wonderful, unexpected afternoon. And of course, the wine was top-notch.

Good time , the tour of the castle and its history was great, the lunch and the wine tasting were good, for wine drinkers, some of the wines were pretty light except for the brunello

It is a small bit of everything you'd want to experience at a vineyard ☺️. The guide and her team are friendly, helpful and happy that you are their guests. We enjoyed the small tour of history and the 3-course meal was a light delight. The wines were delicious 😋. Lovely experience for the price at hand.👌🏾

It was interesting learning about the castle and the Tricerchi family. Our guide, Lorenzo, was very knowledgeable and added some humor. We enjoyed both the wine and food and didn't feel rushed. It was a pleasurable way to spend some time.

Stunning drive to this beautiful, sun-soaked castle in Montalcino. Our hostess was so lovely and shared just the right amount of information. We enjoyed an amazing lunch paired with delicious wine—and couldn’t resist taking a couple bottles with us. Highly recommend this tour…we absolutely loved it.

A little difficult to find the winery. Make sure you specify English tour. We did not and so we had the tour in English withe the owner. He was GREAT!! We got to visit areas of the winery that not included in the regular tours. A fascinating history and the owner was is descendent of the founders and is only there part time as he is a lawyer in Rome.

You will NOT be disappointed. Walking into the castle is not only memorable and impressive but the guides are so warm and friendly! We were all offered coffee upon arrival and free to admire some spaces to enjoy it. Afterwards, we were able to stay on the grounds to admire the beauty while we waited for our taxi. They even gave us a glass of wine! The sampling of wine is superb and the appetizers, entree and dessert were top notch. Make sure you take a bottle of your favorite wine. It is by far the finest wine I have had.

This is a young winery. Tour was short but informative . Lunch was delicious. Property is beautiful.

Was a fantastic tour of a family held winery.. multiple generations and very very special estate. Everyone was super hospitable and the food and wine superb. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location and very good wines. Out of the 7 wine tastings we did on this trip this was probably our lowest rated, but still a good winery. Some of the other wineries in the area for the same cost had more wines and a much better lunch. The large room where we had lunch was cold.

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip! What an amazing experience on all levels for our family. We are from the Bay Area and travel to Napa annually. This experience far surpassed our expectations. To dine and taste in a 1200 century castle was unforgettable.

My wife and I enjoyed three wine tastings in Tuscany and this was the best. The location is beautiful. The wine was great and lunch was delicious. The service was also great. I would highly recommend this particular tour and I would return in a heartbeat!

Excellent tour of the vineyard and wine tasting with lunch in a beautiful castle. We just happened to go the first day of harvesting. Awesome!

It is a wonderful place and great food and wine for the tour. Limited tour due to the unfortunate rainy weather but everyone was gracious and glad we were there.

Very nice tour of tuscan castle near Montalcino. Learned about the castle and wine making first and then enjoyed lunch with tasting of 4 wines from the area.

Great little tour of the property followed by a great lunch with tastings to match. We very much enjoyed the experience and the company of those we shared our tour with.

This was another one of the highlights of our trip. Sarah was our guide and she was amazing! This was a private tour, wine tasting and lunch. Tommaso, the owner came over and visited with us as well which was a nice treat! The food was amazing- the asparagus pasta sauce was the best I’ve ever had. The antipasta was beautiful and so yummy!! And even the dessert was so good! And now the wine - SO Amazing!! We love a good Brunello but this wine was beyond our expectations. We joined their wine club and sent a case home. All our adult kids bought a few bottles as well. Everyone had a great time. Then we went out back and took some amazing family pictures with the beautiful views from the grounds. Just a great experience and a wonderful day. Sara told us to go into town afterwards which was a great unexpected treat as well. What a great town!! I highly recommend!
