Lucca Royal Experience – Grand Tour Deluxe By Carriage (2 Hours)

Marika is wonderful and Mario the horse is fantastic. He even stops at his favorite shops during the tour to get treats. So cute! We spent two hours with Marika who is a wonderful and knowledgeable guide and a lovely person. We only had one afternoon in Lucca and this tour made us feel like we got a great taste of the city. It was one of the best tours we have done and we travel a lot. We highly recommend this tour!!!! And we love Mario!

We had the BEST 2 hour horse & buggy ride through the beautiful town of Lucca!!! Marika was a fantastic guide & Mario was simply charming!!! 👍🎉👏🐴We just loved how he stopped along the way to get a treat. 😍 Absolutely 💯 recommend this experience… Grazie!!!

Absolutely wonderful tour! Maria is charming , knowledgeable and fun. She does an amazing job keeping you interested and comfortable. Worth every penny! You can understand the town if Lucca so much better seeing it from her carriage! Thank to both Maria and her sweet horse Luigi!

I wish I could give Marika more than 5 stars. We have been traveling in Italy for almost 2 weeks and have done tours in each city. This was by far the best one! She was prompt picking us up, and was very responsive with messaging ahead of time. She clearly knows every nook and cranny of Lucca and loves this place. As we rode in the carriage with Mario (the horse) at the helm, townspeople would call out friendly greetings to her, which made Lucca even more magical - like a small village. The history was very interesting as well. We are English speakers, and Marika’s English was excellent and was able to answer all of our questions. She was charming, funny, and made us fall in love with Lucca. We will definitely be back! One more note— where we are from in the USA, horses are not always treated well (like NYC carriage rides), please know that Marika’s horses are very well loved and live outside the walled city where they can just be horses in a farm setting.. She is clearly very careful about their safety and happiness, so if you are worried at all about this, please don’t be. They are well loved.

This was my favorite tour in a month of travels from Amsterdam to Rome. Marika and Mario are such a great team and obviously well-loved members of their town. Marika takes great care of her horses, is energetic, entertaining, and really loves what she does - it shows! Do not pass up the opportunity to experience Lucca via this horse drawn carriage tour. This is truly the best of the best - WELL DONE!

It was worth every penny!!! Our tour guide just didn't drive us around on a carriage, she told every little bit of history about Lucca, pointing out all the interesting facts. One of my favorites is that Lucca at one point had over 100 churches! Bottom line, the guide was great, her horse was a star to the people, it was very enjoyable.

Nice afternoon. Weather turned halfway through, the host was kind and accommodated with a poncho. Learned city history.

This was a really great way to experience Lucca! Our tour guide, Marika was amazing. She was genuinely passionate about the history of this lovely town and shared knowledge beyond what we would have been able to gather without such a great guide. Mario was also a star guiding us in the cart thru the streets and happily doing so for some praise and carrots 😊 Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to both acclimate themselves to Lucca as well as get some deep history and wonderful food recommendations!

This was an excellent tour of Lucca's history and historic sites, plus a complete ride around the Lucca city wall. Do not forget to bring carrots for Mario.

A terrific tour by Marika and Mario. Marika gave a wonderful tour of the history of this beautiful city and its walls. And Mario gave us a tour of all of his favorite ‘pit stops’. He seems to know very well the shop owners with a treat waiting for him! Loved this tour! Highly recommend!

Marika and Mario were wonderful guides and we thoroughly enjoyed being shown around Lucca by them both. It was a unique and memorable way to see the key sights of the town and tour the walls.

We had an absolutely delightful time with Marika and her horse Luigi. Marika’s tour was so informative. We learned so much about the history of Lucca, the architecture, and the ancient city church-citizen politics. We got to see the city from on the ground and then from up on the wall. This is the 2nd time we have done this tour and this occasion was as good as the first! It is a perfect way to spend some time when in Lucca. Last time we had Luigi pulling the carriage and this time it was Mario. The horses are extremely well cared for and in excellent condition. The tour itself is so relaxing but also so informative - a perfectly lovely way to spend time. We love the fact that the horses know which shop owners will give them their treats.

This was the best tour of our 30 days in Europe. Marissa was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Mario, her horse, was well behaved. We loved seeing Mario receive his treats from a few bakeries along the route.

Maria gave us a great short history of Lucca. We discovered places we hadn’t on foot ! Mario the horse is just beautiful. It was a most memorable tour. Thank you Maria. .

If you are going to Lucca--even if you have been there before--you should take this tour. It's a perfect way to see the city, above and below. Marika is a great guide, and gave us great info for points of interest in the city--including some things we wouldn't have found otherwise, like Roman ruins under one of the churches. It was especially great for my 3 year old, who was over the moon sitting in front with Marika. I normally avoid carriage rides in big cities, but you can tell the horses are well loved (and spoiled rotten by the local businesses 😉 ). I can't recommend this tour enough.

This is a wonderful tour with Monica and her horse Luigi or “Gigi” to his friends. Monica knows the history of Lucca and its main landmarks and will tell you about things to do in Lucca. She also has a very nice sense of humour. The carriage is comfortable and the overall experience is fun and relaxing, especially if walking is not your thing. For us, it was a 10 out of 10!

We absolutely LOVED this tour!! Honestly, this was the best way to experience the charming city of Lucca and will be a memory for life. Marika is so warm and friendly, plus very knowledgeable about the city and its history. Her horse is also a local celebrity! We saw so much more on this tour than we ever could have on our own - we took a 1.5 hr train into Lucca, had lunch (shoutout to Da Rosolo's wild boar ragu), went on this tour, and saw EVERYTHING! It was completely relaxed, easy, and very fun. Marika is also very accommodating and was willing to offer the tour at a different time because of our tight schedule and the intense heat being a problem for the horses at the usual time. If you are even considering this tour, do not hesitate and just book it! It's absolutely worth it. 10/10

This is such a unique experience, we loved riding with Mario in the lead and Marika giving us information about Lucca. She was very accommodating when we were running behind from our tour in Pisa in the morning. She was also really engaging with our boys (9 and 12) and they had a wonderful time learning about Lucca, giving Mario carrots and watching him interact with the town. We had tried to do this tour once before last year, but had to cancel due to the weather so I have been looking forward to it and it did not disappoint!

This is a brilliant way to see Lucca, Marika is an excellent guide and clearly passionate about her city. We stopped numerous times allowing Marika to take to explain the history, which also gives our friend Luigi the horse time to rest from the heat. Luigi seems to be a celebrity, with 100’s of people taking his picture. We couldn’t recommend this enough, really enjoyable, entertaining and informative. Thank you Marika and Luigi !

I would highly recommend this carriage tour with Marika. She was an amazing guide and knows so much about her hometown of Lucca. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. It was a great way to see and learn about Lucca. Definitely book this!

Our guide and her horse Luigi were delightful! The tour around the gates of Lucca was so much fun and Luigi made us smile and laugh as he stopped and visited with the shopkeepers along the way and got his treats. Our guide was a wealth of historical information about Lucca and we learned so much from her! I highly recommend this tour, you won't regret it. It was a highlight of our 15 days in Italy!

Absolutely wonderful 2 hour tour with Marika and Lugi. She knows the history and makes everything you see more relevant - really brings the history to life. This would be almost impossible if you walked around on your own. Highly recommend !!!! No

Absolutely superb way to spend a morning! We could not have chosen better! Our carriage was pulled by Luigi who is quite a character in himself, knowing where to stop on route for little treats from the shop owners. Even pawing at the ground and tapping with his hoof to ask for the next treat! The ride itself was brilliant and our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and what a way to see a city, in and around all the narrow streets it was really something special! After the streets we went up on the city walls and it was beautifully tranquil and relaxing with Luigi pulling us at a gentle walk Luigi knew what was expected of him and behaved himself wonderfully. If you get the opportunity to take this ride definitely go for it.

Fantastic couple of hours spent with Marika (hope I spelled that correctly) and one of her horses Mario. The relationship between horse and driver was fantastic hardly any steering input. Mario stopped at numerous bars and restaurants where he was given carrots and bread. City tour was facinating

Owner Marika drove our carriage with her beautiful horse Mario. It was a wonderful two hour tour through the narrow streets of Lucca and around the city wall. Marika was entertaining and informative about the history, food, dining, and culture of Lucca. Mario was very clever and entertaining as well. It was an excellent experience.

Our family is visiting Lucca because my husbands mothers’ ancestors are from there. It’s grandma’s dream at 79 years old to visit Lucca. Grandma has a hard time getting around so I booked her this tour. Marika was very accommodating from the beginning and was willing to meet us in a different place so grandma didn’t have to walk so far. She had a lot of patience with us. Grandma said it was the best experience ever. She absolutely loved it. Luigi the horse is beloved by all and grandma really enjoyed seeing him stop for treats at the many shops and restaurants along the way. Marika did a great job sharing history of Lucca. So enjoyable from start to finish.

What a wonderful way to see this beautiful city. Marika and her companion Luigi were excellent and accommodating hosts that brought a whole new perspective to The City of 100 Churches. Marika was friendly, pleasant and informative, and Luigi was quite the famous horse around town. Our horse drawn carriage ride about town and up on the wall of Lucca was a perfect place to start our engagement.

One of the most delightful evenings in Lucca! We did not know what to expect and had a wonderful time. It was hot and there was a breeze and she was a wonderful tour guide along with her adorable horse. So much fun!

Exceptional time! Monica & Mario (the horse) were fantastic! We enjoyed a scenic ride and outstanding tour of the city as well as riding the wall. Mario was delightful as he stopped at numerous shops to get a carrot or two from the shop merchants. He posed for pictures. Ride was peaceful and enchanting. It was splendid. Not to be missed! HIGHLY recommend this adventure. You won't be disappointed.

It was a beautiful experience, Marika is very helpful, very kind and a trained guide, with her beautiful horse Luigi made us turn the most characteristic alleys of their wonderful Lucca. She was also Sweet with my son David (4 years) made him sit next to her. I recommend a full ride, it's really worth it.

What about, the experience was beautiful and Marika is really a special person. Visiting the historic center and the walls of Lucca, pulled by the legendary Luigi and hearing the rich history of this wonderful city, was an unforgettable experience.

The young girl who drives this beautiful carriage, with her horse, is attentive to the needs of her guests and the skills and competences lead the tourist to discover hidden corners, and curiosities, that even the locals do not know.

Beautiful moment! I am from Lucca, I thought I knew her well, then I had the opportunity to bring relatives in the carriage.... Marika, but especially Luigi a wonderful “blonde” horse that stops at the shops that, with kindness, always offer him something to eat ...🥰🥰🥰🥰 In addition there is Marika the host who, explains everything about Lucca, even things that I did not know, despite being born and passionate about our city.... Try, for tourists definitely, but also for Lucca .... Take advantage !! ❤️❤️❤️
