Our local guide was a local and is well versed on the history of lucca and surrounds. The bikes were old school, but the route was relaxed with plenty of stops.

Itinerary
Your tour begins at the Railway station (at the main entrance) and in few yards we reach the rental shop to take our bikes and to be ready for the discovery of this fascinating bike friendly town. You will soon realize how the green space and the bike routes give a privilege visit of Lucca.
The ride continues on the top and around the town walls: you will enjoy an outstanding view of the city centre, a gorgeous vista on the surrounding countryside and understand the history and the construction of the fortification during the centuries. Your guide will give you the chance to explore secret passages and hidden sites that you couldn't find on your own.
We will go through the historical centre to admire the many noble palaces and old churches, passing by the outstanding Guinigi Tower. You will also cycle along less touristy neighbourhoods getting a real taste of local life. Therefore, it will be the time to enjoy our first food stop, by paying a visit to our favourite shop and tasting delicious delicatessens of the city. You will try delicious pecorino cheese, local cold cuts and cherry on top - the extra-virgin olive oil. You will also learn about traditional recipes and get to know about curious ingredients.
After the tasting we go on a ride through different corners of the city centre admiring narrow alleys, secondary trails and ancient churches till we reach and glimpse the façade of the lowest one: San Frediano basilica which is very close from the fascinating Amphitheatre square. We’ll continue exploring the east side of the town that is less known but very local.
Later we’ll go back on the saddle and we’ll climb back to the walls, concluding the visit by seeing the remaining unexplored parts. We head down again to the historical centre passing by Piazza Grande, ready for the last sweet stop in the oldest ice cream shop of Lucca: here we will taste a real excellence, the best gelato you will always remember (in colder months gelato will be replace with a cake and a coffee)! Finally, we return to the starting point fully aware that we have experienced the city in the manner of the locals.

Lucca did a phenomenal job with the bike tour around Lucca! We did this on our first day in Lucca, and it really helped orient us to the city. He did a great job communicating about history, culture, and food. We felt that we really learned a ton and enjoyed the tastings of charcuterie, wine, and gelato. The gelato location was excellent - a local, family-run shop operating since 1929! We genuinely loved and had so much fun on this tour. The bike part was very easy - coming from someone who hasn't ridden a bike in 10 years!
We had a wonderful tour with Luca. A gentle ride though Lucca while learning about its history and enjoying some local wine, meats, cheeses and gelato. Would highly recommend this tour while visiting Lucca.
We had so much fun biking in the rain with our guide Chiara. Despite the weather, she made the trip fun and we enjoyed learning about the history of Lucca and the local foods (cheeses and meets) with wine were delish! The gelato was a fun conclusion to our tour. So fun!
Antonella was our Tour Guide and she made it such a wonderful experience! We instantly connected and she made it feel like a tour from a close friend who is also a local. She was full of historical knowledge that was engaging and not dry or boring. The pace of the tour was perfect, with a little cycling, then a stop, walk, or photo op, followed by small bites great wine (I recommend the Vermentino), and capped off with the best gelato I’ve had in all of Italy (I recommend the melone, which tastes like all natural cantaloupe) and the tiramisu with strawberries)! Overall, this was a magical experience that exceeded our expectations. Antonella even made lots of recommendations for places to visit after the trip. Absolutely perfect. Grazie Mille! Highly recommend!
Antonella was our guide and she was AMAZING! She was so knowledgeable and answered every obscure question we had. The pacing of the tour was perfect so that we weren’t winded, but still felt like we got a real bike ride experience. I think the best part was the genuine pride Antonella had for the city, it made me proud to be a visitor and wishing I had planned for a longer stay in Lucca. I highly recommend this experience!
I’m could not have asked for a better experience to learn about the city, its history in a both relaxing and fun way. 10 out of 10
Just perfect. Gentle bike ride onto the wall then tour through Lucca with history, culture on the way. Two perfect stops for wine and Italian snacks then Gelato to finish off. Don’t miss it.
This was an excellent morning. We had a lovely bike ride around the old walls and through the town and we also had a delicious lunch and finished off with some ice cream. Our host was extremely knowledgeable. I’m told as many interesting things about the history and the area. I would definitely recommend this
Sara is a very knowledgeable guide and passionate about Lucca. Sara took the time to answer all our questions and point out anything she thought would be of interest to our group. The food option is worth it. Very tasty and provides another lovely experience. The ride was easy and relaxing. Lucca is a beautiful place, we hope to visit again ❤️
I highly recommend Tuscany like a local. We did the 3 hour bites and bike tour of Lucca. It was some of the best money and time we spent in Lucca! Chirra was our guide. Her English was exceptional and her history of Lucca was superb. I write reviews so other can make good decisions. The 3 hour tour is a good decision. Enjoy.
Antonella “Toni” was enthusiastic and informative for our rainy tour. She has great passion for her city and we learned so much history. Highly recommend this tour! Great food and the best gelato we have had so far!
Loved the tour! Wasn’t as much biking as we were hoping. It’s a pretty short ride. We would’ve loved to do the entire top of the walls, but was a fun way to explore Lucca!
Our guide was excellent! She was so sweet and smiled all the time! Our group had children so it was hard to stay focused and we were unable to hear most of what she said. I wish there was more history given about Lucca then what we received. I wish we rode around the town more than what we did. I would not include the tour w/ food. It was nice but took up to much time and I would have rather learned more about the culture/history and seen more of the adorable town of Lucca! If you want a meat/cheese tray do this tour, but if you want more history and just a bike tour then pick the non food tour. Our guide was excellent (Sorry, I can't remember her name :(
What a great experience, our guide Antonella was amazing we had a great bicycle and bites tour.
What a great way to see this beautiful town! Our guide, Marta, was lovely and very knowledgeable. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the restaurant in the old amphitheater. The only thing we wished we could have done was to ride the entire 2 1/2 miles around the whole city. We would have liked to walk around inside the city after our tour, but the heat was oppressive, so we headed back after the tour. Thank you Marta!
Loved this tour! Excellent tour guide. Saw places we would have never been able to find on our own. The sandwiches and gelato were very good. Highly recommend it.
Our guide Luca was fabulous-funny, knowledgeable, and took time to explain what we were seeing and answer our questions! The food was great with some of the best gelato we have had yet in Italy. We would highly recommend this trip to get an overview of Lucca.
Bike tour of Lucca was great and our guide was exceptional. Nothing the guide’s name was Lucca also.
We had such a wonderful experience on our e-bike tour of Lucca! The bikes were great, and the tour was the perfect way to see and experience this beautiful city. Our tour guide Luca was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and shared interesting history and stories about Lucca while making the tour relaxed and enjoyable. We never felt rushed and got to see so much more of the city than we would have on foot. We enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Lucca.
Had a great afternoon with Luca our guide while bicycling around Lucca! Best way to see a lot of the city in 2 1/2 hours and try some typical Tuscan apertivo food. It was a leisurely ride around the city in the wall and then within the city. Luca was a lot of fun, spoke good English and understood where Americans are coming from. Great sense of humor. As for the “bites” part l, we had sliced meats, cheese and bruschetta with a glass of wine or soda. We also got a great gelato at the end that we really loved!
Our guide Luca was fantastic. Informative and professional but also very entertaining. The bikes rented from the Tourist Office were nice bikes and easily navigated the city. We would definitely recommend this tour for people seeking something with a little bit of exercise and beautiful scenery.
Marta was a wonderful guide and Lucca was perfect for exploring safely on bikes. History of the city came to life as we biked the walls and heard the stories of its evolution through the centuries.
Despite the fact that our family was very tired and hot Antonella was wonderful and very flexible with us. She is very knowledgeable and absolutely loves Lucca and it shows in the way she talks about her lovely city.
The bikes were of good quality, our tour guide was excellent and knowledgeable as well as fun and the tour exceeded our expectations. We saw all of the major sites and were told the history of them and enjoyed local food, wine, and gelato along the way. Highly recommend this!!
There are only a couple of hills along the route. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history and current state of the city.
The tour was beautiful and very informative. Had tons of fun learning about the city and its history. After being on the bikes there’s no better way to explore Lucca! Our guide Antonella was fantastic, funny, and very knowledgeable. 11/10 recommend
The bicycle trip was fantastic! We learned so much history about Lucca and Italy. Chiarra, our guide was so knowledgeable and such a wonderful host of this beautiful city. All you need is suntan lotion, sunglasses and go! It was fabulous!
We had the best experience! Antonella was the best guide. Her passion for Lucca was palpable! She was so patient and kind with us. We had a 14, 19, and 21 year old plus husband and me on a tour. We were late due to traffic and she waited for us a lengthened our tour. Our family is gluten free and she made sure our snacks were gluten free. She enhanced our entire families’ experience in Lucca! She is absolutely wonderful.
Claudio did a great job introducing us to Lucca with her interesting stories by bike. The sampler plate and ice cream was yummy too. I would recommend!
Marta was AMAZING! I couldn’t speak more Highly of her. She was so knowledgeable about area, very friendly and answered all of our questions with confidence. We had such a great experience on the tour with her. It was nice to hear about the history in Lucca and enjoy local wines, cheeses and gelato. I do think the gelato was the best we have had in Italy! I would recommend this company and Marta to anyone and everyone.

We had a great experience. From checkin through the tour with a few stops to cover history and the tasty local savory and sweet eats- this was exactly the type of family fun we were looking for.
Luca is such a fun host and we had the highlight of our Italy trip riding bicycles around town with him. He’s a great tour guide and a fun person to hang out with.
I’m not so good at cycling but I can manage the tour at ease. Thanks Luca for showing us around and sharing history of the city. We love the food, gelato and the great conversations! We highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a chill ride while exploring this bike friendly city.
Chiara our guide was informative, friendly and fun. We learnt so much about the history of Lucca while cycling around the city. The food was traditional and tasty and the gelato to finish off with was divine.
We had a wonderful time biking around Lucca with Marta as our guide. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, the food, and especially the gelato! Thank you for a very fun day!
Beautiful ride and host! It’s a very leisurely ride with lots of stops for history lesson, food, gelato etc.
Claudia was a wonderful guide. We had her all to ourselves and are thankful that the activity didn’t get cancelled. A great intro into the highlights of the city of Lucca.
Amazing bike tour of Lucca! Fun, engaging and very informative. The tour guide, Antonella was amazing. She was thorough, helpful and very knowledgeable. We give this a 10 plus!!!
This was an extremely amazing tour of Lucca on the bike. Our tour guide Antonella was amazing. She was a wealth of information! She is a local who knows the area and showed us all the hidden sights. The tour was informational, fun and interesting. We would do it again and strongly recommend it if you are visiting the area
10 plus experience with Antonella, our tour guide. Amazing experience learning this beautiful city of Lucca with a local. We navigated the streets and stopped to see landmarks. Fun, knowledgeable and welcoming. A small time to grab a bite and we finished with the best gelato in all of Europe! Strongly recommend this tour.
This was a great experience. Our guide Luca was amazing very knowledgeable and brought the local history to life. The stop for food was much better than Iexpected. The ice cream was a real treat. I was worried about a bike with no gears, but it was fine and it was fairly flat all around.
Marta was fantastica! We had a great time in all the stops along the way, food and wine was also scrumptious.
Wonderful experience around the old city of Lucca with Luca! We enjoyed all of it and learned so much about the rich history of the area. Lucca is a local and so very knowledgeable. He cheerfully answered all of our questions. The pace was relaxing and included a stop for lunch and another one for gelato! Highly recommend!
It was great. Exceeded my expectations. Our guiide was so nice and friendly. It was a perfect tour. Highly recommend
This tour was very fun and informative. Marta was an excellent guide. It was the perfect amount of biking and sightseeing balanced with food, wine and gelato. All in all a great way to spend the afternoon in Lucca!
We had a small group of 4 which was a perfect group. Our guide Marta was engaging and informative. She took us to places that we probably wouldn’t have seen had we not taken the tour. I would highly recommend this tour.
Luca was our tour guide for Tuscany Like a Local for a 3 hour bicycle tour of the town Lucca. He was amazing. Grew up there so very familiar with the territory and very motivated to educate/answer questions. He also gave us local insight for places to eat, which was great. I highly recommend this company- you will not be disappointed!
Our guide Luca ( yes that was his name) was a local and excellent. He was proud to share the history. This little town is so beautiful. Family friendly. kids playing, moms walking babies in strollers and music on the side walk by local artist. The tour included a stop for wine and Aperitivo, then more riding and a stop for gelato. Luca knew all the local spots. After we walked around town and went in the church where it is said the have the real face of Jesus. It was under reconstruction but they had informative info on it.
