Itinerary
The Cesani family and our staff are pleased to welcome you to Pancole, just 5km from the historic center of San Gimignano, where you will have the opportunity to sit down and taste the company's products presented with competence and passion, and thus have the opportunity to know the history, the production process and the organoleptic characteristics of all the products that the Cesani family offers. The tasting includes 2 Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, one of the historical denominations of the area, 1 Rosato Toscano or 1 Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, 1 Rosso Toscano "Ciliegiolo", our best selection of Sangiovese, IGT "Luenzo" and our extra oil - virgin olive. (The type of wines for tasting may vary according to availability) A taste of Tuscan pecorino, mixed cured meats and other traditional goodies will accompany the wine presented. The guided tour of the modern and rational company cellar will allow you to discover that tradition and technology are an inseparable combination for the production of great wines from organic grapes. Simplicity and professionalism are fundamental characteristics for obtaining products of the highest quality.

We spent seven nights in the Edera Superior room, and it was an excellent choice. The room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a large, well-equipped bathroom. One of the highlights was the huge shared terrace just outside the room, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape — the perfect place to relax at any time of day. The hosts and staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. Communication before and during our stay was smooth, and we always received quick and clear responses to our questions. Breakfast was generous and delicious, featuring high-quality products from nearby producers. It was served on a separate terrace with a truly breathtaking view, which made each morning special. We also participated in a wine tasting, which was a fantastic experience. The wines and accompanying food were excellent, and the presentation about the winery was both professional and engaging. Overall, this accommodation is a perfect base for exploring Tuscany, and we would gladly return.
We visited this winery for a wine tasting and had a truly wonderful experience. The ladies who hosted us did an excellent job presenting the wines, sharing not only their characteristics but also the story and passion behind them. It made the whole experience feel very personal and memorable. The food was just as impressive—absolutely delicious and perfectly paired with the wines. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and well-balanced. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a genuine and enjoyable wine tasting experience!
My partner and I had an amazing time at the Winery. The wines are spectacular and our host was so knowledgeable and passionate about the process… it really added to the whole experience! As novice wine tasters, we can’t wait to learn more and would definitely recommend going to Cesani for authentic, warm Italian hospitality!
All the staff and the family running the Agriturismo are lovely, very helpful and responsive. The wine was great and affordable if you fancy a glass. The breakfast spread is wonderful, a lovely view and worth the 7 euro if that suits you! As a solo traveller on an extended trip, I opted to bring some food as well which I was able to store in the mini fridge in my room and use the kettle for some thrown together meals. There are also restaurants nearby for dinner that are an easy short walk away but only open for dinner. Best to have a car in the area for easier arrival in general (otherwise about 6.5 hike up into the hills - almost thought I was brave enough with my 5 week pack). If you arrive by train there's a list of taxi #'s posted on the station door/pole. I'd recommend using google or trying to book before hand in case they are too busy the day of. Cheaper taxi arriving from Certaldo rather than Poggibonsi (~20 euro instead of 30-40 euro from Poggi) if you're choosing a train stop. Google said there area busses however they run 1 - 2 x per day typically super early or afternoon as they run for the students in the area - I opted to pay the 20 euro for a taxi instead. I used Rocco to/from Certaldo and he was great!!
This was a great tasting and tour of Cesani winery, the location is stunning with panoramic views across the beautiful landscape. It was interesting to see the equipment needed for harvesting the grapes and the process of making their wines. We tried 5 different wines, paired with local cheeses which we loved. The wines were very reasonably priced in the shop so we also bought some to take home with us! Thanks to Marialuisa who helped us sort out transport there and back from San Gimignano as well.
Very nice winery with beautiful views of the Tuscany countryside. Tour guide was engaging and willing to answer any questions we had.
Beautiful scenery - set in the most picturesque part of the Tuscan country side. Informative re wine making & grape types & the Tuscan geography/ history. Delicious wines / a good variety & served with great nibbles. Friendly & informative staff. All in all a very interesting afternoon. Good value for money.
Fabulous tasting with paired light food. Superb staff who were very helpful and knowledgeable! Great for solo travelers
Informative and in a relaxed atmosphere, the wines were paired with the charcuterie board and worked really well. Very hot day and beautiful tasting area would definitely benefit from fans/air con.
Great experience. Very knowledgeable about the wines in the area. Beautiful setting. Very complementary with a trip to San Gimignano.
My wife and I stayed at Cesani for 5 nights in May. We can’t say enough about how amazing the overall experience was. Family pride is evident in every corner of Cesani’s Agriturismo. Marialouisa and her sister Letizia work tirelessly to ensure guests have a top-notch experience. The grounds of the property are a charming and rustic, Tuscan country backdrop with stunning views of Certaldo and San Gimignano. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed and we loved having our own private patio for morning coffee. Our wine tasting experience at Cesani was great! Antonio lead us through the tasting and is highly knowledgeable and passionate about the wine making process at Cesani. It was a great experience and tasty too!! There are two highly ranked restaurants within walking distance from Cesani and Marialouisa is helpful in making reservations for guests. Highly recommend dinner at either spot. The breakfast ant Cesani each morning is exceptional with a wide array of fresh, local and delicious offerings. We can’t say enough about our experience here! We would return in a heartbeat!
We visited Biker for wine tasting, the place is beautiful and surrounded by green vineyards. We tasted several high-quality wines, all the wines were delicious and you can feel the quality of the vines. The woman who gave the workshop was so nice! She explained in detail about each wine in a patient manner. Definitely recommend the place.
Excellent explanation and details of the vineyard. Also showed us the wine preparation area. Very nice view
Beautiful wines offered by a fantastic host Antonio who is so friendly and informative and very passionate about sharing his knowledge and finding a wine you’ll love. A very nicely set out tasting room with stunning views.
This was my mom’s and I first wine tasting ever together so we didn’t want to do something super expensive. I was a little suspicious at first because the price seemed too good to be true but it was AMAZING! The employee who lead the tour gave a very knowledgeable and insightful tour of the cellar and showed up the different regions from the hill of the establishment. I thought he might show us the vineyards but it was raining a bit so I was happy to stay under a roof. We then went back to our tables (the room had a great view of the hills) and tasted five wines and had a plate of did that paired very nicely with the wine. There was also a family of four with one child and one teen. They got discounted tickets and had water and snacks and the employee was very kind to them and talked and joked with the child. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone and everyone!!!
What a wonderful experience! Fantastic wines and Antonio was a pleasure to explain the winery, wines and local culture. We would highly recommend!
What a glorious day at this small and intimate winery. The host for the day was so engaging and knowledgeable. He used humor and personal experience to give us an educational background while being very generous with wine pours. The food was amazing as well. Fresh fruits, bruschetta, caprese salad skewers. Just enough snacks to keep us going. Beautiful location. Affordable wine. Highly recommend.
Great visit to this lovely winery in the beautifully Tucany landscape love their wines, food and service it was our second visit and they have some of the best olive olie our holiday was planed to go visit Cesani this year because we need more Olie :-) - usely we buy form the website but it is so lovely to visit them highly recommened
Delightful, relaxing, beautiful and just the right pace. Thoroughly enjoyed this family winery visit!
A fantastic gourmet wine-tasting experience. The staff was wonderful, the guide excellent, and the wines and food fantastic. Recommended.
Just spectacular! We had a wonderful, relaxing tour and tasting. We felt like we had enjoyed time with friends and family even while being from another country! The wine was divine, the experience intimate, and view truly extraordinary. The best of Tuscany!
This was a fantastic experience. Elena was very so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Cesani vineyard is beautiful. The family story makes it even more beautiful. The wine (all of them) is so good! It truly was one of the highlights of our trip to Tuscany! Try the Luenza, tastes as smooth as Brunello! Mariluisa we are sorry we missed you but so glad we tried your magnificent vineyard!
Words can not describe how incredible our wine-tasting experience was at Cesani. We chose Cesani specifically because it is family run and we didn't want the big commercial experience. It was clear from our visit that the team/family is extremely passionate about their winemaking and loves to share this with people who stop by. We started with a tour to see the vineyards, bottling room, and cellar. We then sat on a beautiful balcony overlooking a breathtaking view of the Tuscan Hills. The wines were perfectly paired with some delicious antipasti and the explanation of each wine was very thorough. We all bought bottles at the end and some of us signed up for their wine membership. If you want the perfect wine-tasting experience, please go to Cesani - they are amazing!
The visit to Cesani was excellent, with friendly and knowledgeable Elena showing us “backstage” details about the wine production and telling stories about the Cesani family. The antipasto accompaniment to the wine tasting was delicious, served in the charming dining room. The wines were excellent, especially the vernaccia riserva. A very pleasant diversion while visiting San Gimignano.
Wonderful tour of the wine making process including the bottling. Delicious wine and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend!
Our guide was very welcoming and well informed, patiently answering all our questions. We tasted 5 wines,as well as a platter each and homemade olive oil for an excellent price. All the wine and most of the food was produced by them and everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend!
Very nice staff that explained to us more details on how they make their wine. After 40 minutes of showing us around, they lead us to the beautiful terrace to have the tasting. The wines were great, but the snack was okay! But still overall worth it :)
The host was very friendly and kind. She did tell us about the family historie, the care of the grapes on the field and all the effort it takes to make excellent wines. You could feel the love and dedication to their ecofriendly wine making. Very good wine tasting experience Many thanks to the Cesani team.
We really enjoyed the Classic Wine tasting. We learned lots about the local grape varieties, production methods and how to enjoy the wine with food. As well as five different wines, which were all stunning, we had some great local food and an extremely knowledgeable host. WE recommend the tour to anyone who likes good wine and good food and wants to learn about this area of Tuscany.
A Wonderful afternoon spent at a beautiful place! Fantastic wine! Learned a lot and staff was warm and welcoming
We received a lovely warm welcome from Elena who was very knowledgeable during the tasting. The wine is delicious and became our wine of choice in most restaurants for the rest of the week! We tasted five wines, served with a cheese and meats platter each. It’s really good value for money. We booked in advance.
Beautiful winehouse, great and very informational tour and of course the most important thing: fantastic wines! When visiting the San Gimignano region and wanting to visit a winehouse, we would definitely reccomend!
Very unique wine tasting experience. We chose the classic tour of 1½ hour, but we ended up being there for 2 hours. Very friendly and informative guide. We got to sit by the beautiful terrace with a great view over the wine fields while tasting the wine. We got a tour of the winery and tasting with detailed explaining of 5 different wines (in English) including charcuterie for only 17 euros. We really liked the wine and ended up ordering 9 bottles.
This winery goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, educated, and served! This tour and the winemaker definitely exceeded our expectations—we loved every minute of the trip. The vineyard overlooks the entire Chiaiti region. The winemaker gave us our term, and made a true effort to tell us the history of her winery, of the region itself, and of her family. If this is the winery you're considering, do this one instead of all others at ALL COSTS!!!
We had wine tasting with food and everything was great. Antonio took care about us and we had a great time at this winery. Wine was excelent... View from winery incredible
A mix of light and shadow Superb welcome Excellent explanation, unfortunately all poorly supported by the not-so-excellent quality of the wines.
Very nice and educational tasting, a beautiful family business that was passionately told about. Also the problems of the Italian agricultural wine sector came up, The tasting with surprise board were super.
On the recommendation of the hotel manager of a wonderful hotel in Rome, we already experienced a wine tasting in 2022 and also brought a selection of the wines home with us and enjoyed them there as well as on site. After an extremely friendly welcome from Elena, Antonio took us into the world of Cesani wines in a competent and friendly manner. We enjoyed both the people, the surroundings and the wines so much that this year we took part in another - this time more exclusive - wine tasting. The amount of wine we took home had doubled and we enjoy a touch of Tuscany with every glass and look forward to next year and to repeating this experience. Thank you very much - it's very nice with you!
Truly a great experience. So much kindness from start to finish and a beautiful place, the tasting from the wines to the platter was also excellent. Highly recommended
Super cool wine tasting! Nice man who told us about the history of the vineyard, the making of the wine and the wine itself. He knew what he was talking about. Learned a lot about the local wine. We also received delicious snacks: Definitely recommended!
The experience was truly pleasant. The tasting is preceded by a visit to the Cesani farmhouse with a presentation of the areas where the grapes from which the Cesani wines are produced are grown. Followed by a visit to the cellar with an interesting and accurate explanation of the wine production process, and finally the actual tasting, which took place on the beautiful terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills. The tasting is accompanied by an excellent cutting board. Highly recommended experience!
We have been to the Cesani winery for the second time - this time we did the wine tasting in a small group of friends. The guided tour to the wine cellar was very interesting and entertaining and the tasting with five wines and a delicious antipastiteller was also excellent. When we are back in Tuscany we will definitely come back - who has time for a short detour to the beautiful agriturismo, should definitely plan the visit!
Great tasting & interesting wine performance, a nice sitting together is guaranteed:-) different wines are presented and you can taste them afterwards, with a little bread and sausage perfectly rounded evening
Wonderful experience, 100% recommended. In addition to the place, magnificent in itself, we greatly appreciated Antonio's professionalism, friendliness and affability in conducting the tasting, a perfect mix of notions, passion and quality. Excellent wines and oil, accompanied by a tasty cutting board.
Last week with a group of friends I attended the gourmet tasting and it was a real surprise. Excellent wines accompanied by good food and excellent explanation. Even the location deserves: a really intriguing view. We'll never be gone. They were also very kind in recommending restaurants.
We were at the “Gourmet wine tasting” at Azienda Agricola Cesani located 7 minutes from San Gimignano. We were given a taste of 2 white, 2 red and a dessert wine, each with a taste that matched the wines. Along with the tasting we were served good stories and descriptions of the wines, the food and the culture. Very interesting! After the tasting we had a tour of the basement. I especially appreciated their Vernaccia Riserva (Sanice), and “Luenzo” which is an IGT by Sangiovese from 2013.
Beautiful tasting in an area full of breathtaking views. Quality-wise the wines are really excellent, there was one we didn't like! Also Antonio was a really good guide! He accompanied us on this journey, explaining the philosophy of the winery and the production processes, being very clear and at the same time not "boring". In addition, which we greatly appreciated, he explained to us how to really taste the wines, describing them gradually and recommending the various combinations to enjoy them at best. the wines are definitely the flagship of this winery, but also the oil we tasted is absolutely exceptional. We did several wine tastings in wineries around Italy but I think this is one of the best ever!
We first got a very nice tour with an enthusiastic guide! Then delicious wines tasted with matching snacks. Everything was very welcoming and friendly. We had booked a tour for 1.5 hours, but in the end we sat there for more than 2 hours. None of that was a problem!
