Real experience going into the underground excavations. Excellent driver and very informative experience.

The quarries were amazing, definitely worth seeing, and this tour was good. We recommend it. Very pleased that it included both the open quarries and the underground quarry, which is very cool to see. Full 2.5 hours with no time wasted at museum or lardo tasting. Only minor issue is that it’s a bit hard to understand the guide’s English if you’re in the back of the 4x4, particularly if he’s switching up and back to Italian. Don’t let that dissuade you, just try to sit up front if you have hearing issues.
If you have any interest in the stone market, this tour is an absolute must. Very informative and truly remarkable to witness the quarry in full operation. Also the historical element to this tour is very fascinating. I highly recommend this tour !!
Highly recommend trip! Very interesting terrain.
We booked this trip in February for September 2026. We emailed Tour Operator and asked if they could arrange pick up and drop back off at port. They said they didn't do pick up but could arrange pick up and drop off. Due to this we booked the trip. They also stated they could help us book a taxi for the pick up and drop off and would come back with the costs. My wife walks with 2 sticks and cannot walk too far. We heard no more from the Tour Operator till we emailed them a week prior to tour date. The email they sent in return stated we had to meet them at the Obelisk by Football Stadium and that they did not have a reliable taxi service that could guarantee transportation. They gave us directions for using the bus system. We felt this was not satisfactory for our needs and cancelled the tour before payment was taken. Very disappointed as this was one of the reasons for booking our cruise.
Absolutely amazing views and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! I highly recommend taking this as a day trip, although I probably wouldn’t recommend staying in Carrara. The tour company was very professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. My only downside was the fluff at the beginning of the tour. I can stop for souvenirs and bathroom breaks on my own time! I’d much rather get straight to the main event and cut the tour time by a third. I’d happily pay the same price for a shorter tour just to get back a precious hour of holiday time!
Thanks Luca and Thomas for the great tour, it was really impressive to see how they dismantle and transport those huge marble blocks. Really recommandable.
Very cool tour and experience. To understand the true mass of these quarry's is to see them up close. Tour shows you atop the mountain and INSIDE the mountain. Highly recommend it. Our tour guide was great.
An amazing experience. Luca was our guide and was very passionate and proud of the “Carrara” marble quarries. He explained everything in great detail and was able to answer all of our many questions showing a real grasp of the history behind these magnificent quarries. The numbers regarding the production here just rolled of his tongue. Grazie Luca. The pickup point at the stadium also had free parking except on match days.
If you're visiting Tuscany, **Le Cave di Marmo** in Carrara is an experience you absolutely should not miss. This was, without question, one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. The tour operates four Land Rovers, taking tourists into the quarries twice a day during the non-operating hours of the mines. Everything was exceptionally well organized, safe, and seamless from start to finish. Seeing the immense marble walls up close while learning how Michelangelo himself selected marble from these mountains, circa 1498, for the Pieta and David, gave us a whole new appreciation for this extraordinary place. What made this tour truly special was the enthusiasm of all three guides. Each of them spoke about the marble caves with the same excitement, pride, and sense of wonder as if it were their very first time sharing the experience. Their love for Carrara, its history, and its people was contagious and made the tour unforgettable. The tour was advertised as lasting between 1½ and 2 hours, yet we were fortunate enough to spend **nearly three hours** exploring the breathtaking marble quarries. At no point did we feel rushed. Cost: 55 euros. If you're looking for an authentic, educational, and unforgettable experience in Tuscany, I cannot recommend **Le Cave di Marmo** highly enough. Giorgio and his family have created something truly special. This tour deserves every one of its five stars—and then some.
What an awesome tour of Carrara marble works. History, science, production, and adventure. A real inside the mountain look at the process. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unusual and memorable adventure.
It was a very unique experience overall. The tour and staff were very organized and knowledgeable. I don't think you will ever have the opportunity to experience anything like it again! AMAZING--with an entirely new perspective and appreciation for marble!!
I am absolutely appalled by the way this situation was handled. My 82-year-old mother, my 80-year-old aunt, and my brother had booked what was explicitly sold as a private Land Rover tour for three people, at a cost of approximately $300 USD. Due to traffic, they advised your team that they would be approximately 10 minutes late. Despite knowing this, the tour departed without two of the three guests. How can a tour be described as “private” when there is apparently no flexibility whatsoever for the very guests who exclusively booked and paid for it? There were no other passengers waiting, no group being inconvenienced, and no reason that a brief courtesy wait could not have been extended—particularly given the ages of the guests involved. The result was that my 82-year-old mother and 80-year-old aunt were left disappointed, embarrassed, and excluded from an experience they had been looking forward to. This is not the level of service one expects from a professional tourism operator. What is equally disappointing is the lack of response since the incident. Not only has there been no meaningful attempt to rectify the situation, but there has also been no effort to honor the tickets or provide an acceptable resolution. Shame on your organization for treating elderly guests in this manner. A company is ultimately judged not by how it handles perfect situations, but by how it responds when things do not go exactly according to plan. In this case, your handling of the matter has been deeply disappointing. I expect a prompt response and a fair resolution regarding the unused tickets.
Great experience, good drivers and guides. Magnificent views of the different quarries and some of the culture. Highly recommend!!
This was an amazing experience! The quary was so interesting and beautiful to see. Our tour guide, Luca made it very informative and fun! So glad we did it!
A fascinating and fun tour. We recommend it.
Our guide, Luca, was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time teaching us about the marble and its extraction. It was fascinating and really changed our perspective of everything else we saw while touring Italy. From churches to altars to statues - we saw everything with a different lens and more knowledge than had we not taken this tour. We highly recommend this little side trip to Carrara.
Stood around for 45 min waiting for the guide who never showed up. Also was unable to reach anyone by phone. The pickup location is the local soccer club parking lot, without any signage other than some randomly placed stickers.
An incredibly interesting and impressive tour! Our wonderful guide, Luca, explained every detail about the Carrara marble mountains. He even took us deep inside the mountain where the marble is actually quarried. A truly unforgettable experience✨
One of the best tours that I have ever experienced. It was first and foremost one of the most beautiful sights that I have seen. Our tour guide, Luca, was so knowledgeable, funny, and adventurous. I was so that the tour had to end.
Excellent guide. Knowledgable, friendly, accommodating. Would recommend for all ages. One of the best I have ever had.
This was an amazing tour with a personable and enthusiastic guide providing just enough history, facts and story blended in a unique and safe package. He managed to support a tour with 4 adults and 2 young children under 5. Well done!
The view of the quarry was impressive, however the drive in the jeep was a very short trip up the road and back, with one stop overlooking the quarry where the guide gave us an informative talk about the quarries history and techniques of marble extraction. We didn't access any quarries or see anything up close, but just drove the short journey back to the car park.
Start to finish this was a fantastic experience. Luca was our driver/host of the group and did great explaining in both English and Italian. Fielded a million questions and was very knowledgeable and personable. The mine was was awesome as well as the views from top out to the sea. Highly recommend.
Good knowledge from guides, great driving, friendly , great experience. I woild recommend to anyone who has a spare 1/2 day in La Spezia.
Fantastic tour. Luca and tomato were super in explaining the marble quarry and so helpful since we started off with a few issues. Highly recommend
The tour was very good and the guides/drivers were knowledgeable. The added bonus of going into a quarry tunnel was great.
Did what it says on the tin ! Great seeing the quarries - very interesting - driver underwhelming - little engagement with 3 couples in Land Rover - apart from Telling us general facts as if he was going through the motions . Guide in another car who spoke to participants from all The 3 vehicles Participating at each of the stops was knowledgeable and informative. A enjoyable afternoon . Vehicles themselves were pretty basic and old and tired
Thank you so much for this brilliant tour of the quarries in Carrara. I’d wanted to visit the quarries after seeing them on screen in the film The Brutalist, and am so pleased I was able to do this tour. The tour was easy to book online and all of the instructions for finding the tour meeting place were clear and easy to follow. The locations of the tour are fascinating and very worthwhile. Our tour guide and driver, Luca, drove us into the mountains, where we saw some amazing views and had plenty of opportunities to take photos. We also visited a beautiful marble souvenir shop and were able to taste a local speciality - lardo - from a nearby town, Colonnata. We were also able to go inside a quarry, which was the highlight of the experience for me. Our driver and guide Luca was very kind, knowledgeable and professional. He made every effort to feel everyone on the tour included and comfortable, speaking both in Italian and English to ensure all the tour attendees (some Italian-speaking and some English-speaking) were able to enjoy the tour. Unfortunately I left my mobile phone in the Land Rover where the tour was taking place after it ended. Luca was incredibly helpful and communicative when I contacted him to mention I had left my phone in the Land Rover. Thanks to Luca’s amazing help, as he arranged for my phone to be couriered from Italy to the U.K., where I live, I am now reunited with it. I can’t thank him enough for his quick thinking, kindness and help with sending my phone back. Grazie mille!
We were met with Jeeps to start our climb up the Carrara mountains. Our tour guide was excellent and sights were absolutely breathtaking!!
The tour was a great experience, especially when we drove inside the mountain. A very unique experience.
Excellent trip - would highly recommend Guides very informative and supportive- very good knowledge too! Amazing views and stunning location’s
So glad we did the jeep marble quarry tour! The marble mountain is so cool!! Our guide/driver was exceptional! He was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Outstanding Tour. Visited Three mines, a few additional stops for refreshments, information and views. Very informative, the guides were excellent and knowledgeable. Easy pick-up and drop off. Would highly recommend
Great views, good local guide. This quarry has the purest whitest marbles. Free marble blocks, which can be even several hundred kgs, to take home. The drive up to the quarry and down back to the parking lot was also very spectacular. A bit dusty, but this is a quarry after all. Recommended to every traveller.
The tour was great. We travelled in a rustic jeep through the marble mountains and into a quarry. The scenery was spectacular and Luca, our tour guide was knowledgeable and provided historic and current descriptions of how marble is cut and excavated. We also entered areas that you couldn’t go alone. The tour service was very accommodating due to us having to make some last minute changes. We will remember this tour for years to come. Highly recommend
This tour was well run, with sufficient time at all the stops but not too much. The views were incredible, a work of art in themselves and it was all so interesting!
Best experience in Italy. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. So interesting and she gave us so much information.
The entire venue was phenomenal!!!!! The jeep took us (an American couple in their 70"s) to the marble workshop, then up to the quarry above the sea to the construction site which was most intriguing, later with a stop for lard tasting, and finally the underground tunnel! The driver and assistant guide were fabulous! Just a suggestion: the meeting place for the pick-up point should be better defined, perhaps clarify clearer landmarks.
What a great experience, would highly recommend to anyone who's looking for something interesting and breathtaking. Thank you.
Serena and Giorgio led an unforgettable tour on, around, and inside one of the mountains of marble in a cool, rugged 4x4. You could never see so much on your own, let alone put together all there is to know about marble quarrying the way Serena did for our group. Highly recommended!
Luca was great. It rained and poured on us, but that didn’t stop Luca from showing us how marble is cut from the mountain. It was amazing to see the marble mountain. This tour was definitely worth it.
Great experience! We loved it. We learned a ton about how the marble quarry works and they took us to several locations including a quarry INSIDE the mountain. The experience wasn't rushed and they allowed us a lot of time to see, touch, ask questions and take pictures. Definitely an experience you can't see in many places and I highly recommend adding this to your list of must do things in Italy!
We had a great time. The lady who took us was great fun and we learned a lot about the great feat it was to get the marble out and down to Florence.
It was a unique experience! The people guiding the tour were excellent! Would recommend to anyone looking for a different kind of experien.
This was an amazing experience . Driving to Collonata and tasting Lardo was divine. Then in an old school Landrover we drove high up the mountains for spectators views . But the best was driving into the mountain!
This tour of the marble mines of Carrara is a must for everyone! Luca our guide was fantastic, he managed to drive us right into the Michael Angelo marble mine which was incredible. The tour was worth every cent and Luca was a champion.
This tour was so much fun, incredibly informative and the guides went above and beyond for us, even making sure we got back to our hotel safely! My daughter and I learned so much I would recommend this to anyone. Our best day yet on our trip to Massa! Thank you!
The trip to the marble quarries showed us a unique, gleaming white landscape. The descripfion of quarrying methods and transportation was interesting and informative. Not to be missed!
The trip was both exciting and informative. Our guide was interesting and knowledgeable. We had very nice experience
