Eli was amazing! Kind of goofy, but super knowledgeable and accommodating.
Eli was a fabulous guide. He was patient with my disability, and never made me feel rushed. He also entertained us with a riveting tale of the history of the Myans.
Our tour guide, Rodrigo, picked us up and immediately immersed us with knowledge. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and answered all our questions. I also appreciate the visuals he brought to further explain concepts. He had a great sense of humor and was very patient with us. It was nice that he offered to take pics as a family in spots he knew. He made sure we had water and protection in case of rain. I also appreciate the communication with a Pic of the car to look for in the am. It was amazing!
Eli is a local of Tulum and not only gave us a very professional and knowledgeable tour of the ruins, but also gave us insight into the local life and how it has changed over the years.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable and interesting in bringing history and the environment into understanding the site. A pleasure to spend the day with. An Engaging and charismatic personality.
The tour operator Eli was great. Communication was on WhatsApp. Eli gave me a picture of his vehicle which was helpful. He was casual, very friendly, and knowledgeable. His personality was such that you felt at ease and was just hanging out with a friend. It was a private tour just for the two of us and the one one experience was awesome.
Rood was an excellent tour guide! We have been on a lot of tours over the years and his was in the top 5. Very appreciative! Fred and Sharon
We had a great experience on the tour with our guide Rodrigo. He did an excellent job explaining the history of the ruins as well as the geology of the Yucatan on the drive to the ruins. We did the tour with our 1.5 year old in a hiking back back and that worked out really well for us. Our son had fun looking at all the iguanas 🦎. While we learned a ton about the Mayan Ruins!
Great experience, convenient pick up from hotel and great guide, especially if you want to go at your own pace!
I have been on several tours with Yucatan Eli's Tours over the past few years. A friend of mine joined me on my most recent trip to Tulum and she wanted to see the Tulum Ruins, Yucatan Eli's Tours did not disappoint! Eli picked us up on time at our hotel and we went for a great tour of the Tulum Ruins and also a delicious lunch at a restaurant in Tulum (Eli knows great local restaurants!) We enjoyed the tour of the ruins and lunch very much, lots of great pictures at the ruins! I always recommend Yucatan Eli's Tours for the best private tours, do not hesitate to book with them!
This had potential to be better, but our guide only focused on 3-4 buildings on site. What about the others? The whole tour felt incomplete. Plus, all the structures are roped off so that you can’t go inside. It makes for a mediocre tour and was pretty disappointing. Definitely not worth the money.
We had an outstanding private tour of the Tulum ruins with Rodrigo and Dan. From start to finish, they made the experience smooth, informative, and genuinely memorable. The tour is all inclusive, meaning you do not need to worry about transportation, tickets, drinks, … They make it very convenient for you. Rodrigo is a fantastic guide who brings the history of Tulum and the Maya civilization to life with clear explanations and great storytelling. He highlighted details we would surely have missed on our own and helped us really understand the significance of the ruins and their incredible seaside settings. We learned many Mayan stories, though we don’t remember all the legends and their heroes’ names ! Dan, who is local to Tulum and was training, complemented him perfectly, looking after the logistics and adding some more local color to the stories. What we appreciated most was how personalized the tour felt. They adjusted the timing to avoid crowds, offered excellent tips for photos - we have never had so many photos of ourselves in such great settings - and checked in regularly about how we were doing. We never felt rushed, yet we covered everything on the site, and we could see how much they are passionate about the site and their roots. I would highly recommend a private tour of the Tulum ruins with Yucatan Eli’s Tours, Rodrigo and Dan to anyone visiting the area.
This was the perfect way to see the Ruins! Rodrigo is a world of knowledge and very passionate about the Mayan culture and the people of Mexico. He gives you a truly authentic experience.
I visited this site unaccompanied and travelled by collectivo from my hotel. Great site, very interesting and good facilities on the site
Go early. Beat the crowd. Hire a knowledgeable guide. Kiss the iguanas. Bring water. Hydrate or die.
We used Yucatán Eli’s Tours and had a great experience! We went early and beat the crowds. Eli was professional, very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. We learned a lot and will definitely book again for more Mayan ruin trips.
We enjoyed an outstanding tour with Rodrigo of Yucatan Eli’s Tours during a recent visit to Tulum. Specifically, we wanted to see the ruins with a guide, and didn’t want to spend time swimming with turtles or in cenotes. Luckily, we fell into a tour that included the Parque del Jaguar. Thank you, Rodrigo, for the perfect tour! We learned that eventually a train will connect a number of sites of ancient ruins, making those long visits easier. For a short tour in Tulum, you won’t want to miss Rodrigo’s tour. Not only is he knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the regions, but also he is entertaining! He promotes native plants and taught us about the trees of the region. Obviously, he loves Mexico, too, a charming characteristic.
Great side trip. Long day but worth the money. We book through Nexus tours at the resort.
Excellent Guide. He told us great stories as we toured the ruins. He had a great sense of humor. Provided us with water and allowed us to explore at our own pace. He even let us stop for gelato on the way back to our villa. Would highly recommend this tour to family and friends.
Excellent door to door car service and a knowledgable tour guide made this a fun afternoon. We didn't have to wait in line as the tickets were handled for us, we went at our own pace, and got a lovely history lesson.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. I recommend the morning tour in warm weather. The tour was enjoyable and very informative. Rodrigo was a great tour guide. He did a fabulous job!
Our tour guide Rodrigo was so knowledgeable and nice and punctual. We had a great time touring the ruins. I would highly recommend this activity!
Eli was very knowledgeable & a great storyteller. The ruins site is beautiful & Eli took care of everything for us. Wear comfortable shoes for plenty of walking.
Excellent guide named Rodrigo was outstanding. Very passionate about the Tulum Ruins and Mayans people. We learned a lot. Like most tours and little prep would have also been very helpful.
We had a fantastic private tour of the Tulum ruins, Jaguar National Park, and the museum, made truly special by our guide, Rodrigo. From the start, it was clear how passionate and knowledgeable he is, and how important it was to him that we had a great experience. Rodrigo did an excellent job explaining the history and significance of the ruins and museum artifacts in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. We never felt rushed and were given plenty of time to explore, take in the sights, and ask questions at our own pace. He also shared helpful insights about the surrounding environment along the way, adding context without overwhelming the main focus of the tour. Throughout the day, Rodrigo was attentive, professional, and genuinely focused on ensuring our needs were met. This tour exceeded our expectations and was a highlight of our trip. We highly recommend this experience—and especially Rodrigo—if you’re visiting Tulum and Jaguar National Park.
Toured with the man Eli himself! Extremely knowledgeable and personable. The views from the cliffs of Tulum are breathtaking.
We loved our tour around the Tulum ruins with Rodrigo. His knowledge of the area and its history was impressive, and he shared great insights into the geography, Mayan culture, and history. He also gave us lots of helpful tips for making the most of a trip to the Riviera Maya. Thank you, Rodrigo, for such a fascinating and enjoyable tour!
We had the most amazing tour of the Mayan ruins with Rodrigo. He met us at the hotel and was very social, attentive and knowledgeable about the area and history. We loved being guided around the national park, and really appreciated the private nature of the experience. Loved it so much, we will be bringing the family back and will book this same tour again. Thanks Yucatán Eli’s and Rodrigo!
A++ This was great. They took care of us, door-to-door. Pick up at the resort, seemless. It was hot, out in the sun, and bugs/wildlife abound but our guide Rodrigo had plenty of bug spray, sunscreen, drink, and umbrellas to keep us happy. Rodrigo knew EVERYTHING about the tour, knew everyone at the ruins & nature park, and gave us lots of information on the history & ecology of the area. These guys are great!
Our tour with Rodrigo at the Tulum ruins was excellent. He was SO knowledgeable about every aspect and his passion for his craft was obvious in the experience we were shown. He made the day seamless as he dealt with tickets for us and guided us through the huge park so easily. We felt lucky to have him as a courteous and intelligent guide as we saw these ruins and visited the accompanying museum and wish we had booked him for more things during our trip because he was also so fun!
Eli was wonderful. He picked us up at our hotel and toured us around the Tulum ruins. His knowledge of the area really made our day special.
This tour was BEYOND amazing—an absolute five-star experience! Rodrigo is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and helpful—truly the best guide you could ask for. He showed us everything, took tons of photos for us, kept us hydrated the entire time, and even handled all the tickets seamlessly. It can get crowded, but he navigated it all effortlessly while keeping us safe and comfortable throughout the entire 5-hour tour. We cannot recommend him and this tour highly enough—five stars all the way!
Rodrigo was an excellent tour guide. He took the time to answer all our questions. Picked us up on time and you could tell he was passionate about Tulum.
Eli was the best tour guide! He let us go at our own pace, he was super knowledgable about the area, he answered all of our questions, and he was also hilarious. Great way to spend a morning!
Rodrigo did a fantastic job of guiding us through the Parque Nacional Tulum. He took extra time to discuss the natural features of the Maya lands and how the Maya interacted within this framework as we asked many questions . He did not speed through ruins of Tulum to make up the time, but made sure to show us how the city harmonized with the cosmos. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable describes Rodrigo.
This is absolutely the best tour I have ever taken in all the tours that I have taken in my life. Rodrigo gave us an excellent tour with an over abundance of knowledge and information that we never knew we never knew about the Mayan history as much until we heard Rodrigo speak to us about it. The pyramids are absolutely something. Everyone should see we learned that Mayan people were very intelligent scientific organized people. he explained about the sun calendar and the moon calendar. Also, he made sure we were happy and comfortable all day. He carried water and drinks on his back. He kept us in the shaded areas. He took pictures in the best places. This is the best tour I’ve ever been on. You must take this tour. It’s only half a day with the knowledge you learn you will never forget in your lifetime. I already told all of my friends on Facebook that they’ve got to come down here and visit Tulum and hopefully get Rodriguez. The company he works for is Yucatán Eli’s Tours and transfers. This is truly the best tour my wife and I have ever been on in my life and we have taken many tours in many countries, this was exceptional. thank you, Rodriguez.
We were in Playa del Carmen for a wedding and planned an excursion to Tulum to see the ruins. We chose the half-day tour from Yucatan Eli based on the reviews we saw here and we couldn't be happier with our choice! Our tour guide, Rodrigo, was super-friendly and knowledgeable about not only the ruins themselves, but Mayan history and culture, the geography and natural history of the area and general facts about the Yucatan and Quintana Roo areas overall. His education and background in geography showed as he described all aspects of the area and its history. We learned so much about the Mayan culture and their relationship with the sun, moon, stars, seasons and the natural world around them. It's this type of extra detail and insight into a country and its people that makes travel exciting. The new Parque del Jaguar that accesses the Tulum archeological site is very impressive. We can't recommend Rodrigo enough. He was just a really friendly guy and went the extra mile to make sure we were informed, comfortable and enjoying ourselves to the fullest. If you are considering a tour of Tulum do yourself a favor and select Yucatan Eli - you won't be disappointed.
Don't miss out! We were here twice before without a guide. 10x better when you have a great guide. Ours was awesome!
The tour was very informative. Our guide, Josue, was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. It C is a lot of walking in uneven pavement, so wear good shoes.
My girlfriend and I were staying in a resort outside of Tulum back in January for about a week. While we wanted to spend the majority of the time lazing about and enjoying the resort's amenities, we did want to take one day to go visit the ruins of Tulum and see a bit of the surrounding area. I didn't want to necessarily book with the resort's preferred vendors, choosing instead to shop around. After doing a lot of research and comparing different tour companies, I decided to book a private half-day tour with Yucatan Eli. And oh my goodness, IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I MADE FOR THE WHOLE TRIP! We were lucky enough to get Eli himself as our tour guide. He picked us up in his car and was so friendly, professional and charming, speaking excellent English, and also very patiently enduring my imperfect Spanish. My hope had been that we would have a guide who would make sure we had as frictionless an experience as possible, who would take care of all of the details and just take care of us throughout our visit to the Tulum ruins so we didn't have to worry about a thing. Eli EXCELLED at this. He made sure to get use cold water containers that were permitted in the national park, he had our entry passes all prepared, I was able to turn my brain off completely and let Eli take care of everything. Most importantly, once he realized early on that we were both very interested in the history of the indigenous peoples of this area, that we wanted more in-depth content, Eli showed a VAST knowledge of the area. When we needed to take a break, we took a break, Eli was so chill and relaxed. It was truly wonderful to learn all about the advanced ecological knowledge of the Mayans from Eli. The tour was fabulous. Eli even was kind enough to drive us into the city itself when our tour was over and recommend a great taqueria for us to have lunch at! I will tell you something: I work as a tour guide myself and I take a lot of pride in my work. I was very wary of booking a tour with a different guide because I was afraid that I would be disappointed as a professional, that the guide would not measure up to the standard I set for myself. But oh my goodness, Eli was AMAZING and I think he is better than me. I was blown away. Five stars are not enough, I wish I could give nine, even ten. You ABSOLUTELY should book with Yucatan Eli's Tours. It was the best money we spent throughout our entire vacation. My only regret is that it took my lazy self nine months to sit down and write this review. I still remember that day with a smile. What a wonderful experience! Eli, thank you for giving us such an amazing day back in January! You are the best!!!
Our guide, Rodrigo, was super energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional! His detailed information about the Mayan ruins, and the flora, and fauna of the area was extensive. We were picked up at our hotel and returned there, and Rodrigo provided lots of interesting information about the Tulum area on both the trip to and from the archaeological site. The tour exceeded our expectations!
We had an amazing tour of the Tulum archaeological site through Yucatán Eli‘s tours. Our guide, Rodrigo, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the ruins, and he also gave very detailed information about the flora and fauna of the park. He was a most gracious and generous host, And if we have occasion to be in the area again, I would reach out to this tour company immediately! Communication with the company about being picked up was very thorough, professional, and friendly. The entire experience exceeded our highest expectations!
The trip was amazing. Rodgrigo was our guide and was very informative, funny and tailored the trip to what we were interested in. He gave us so much information regarding the history of Mayan civilization, the natural aspect in regards to trees and animals, and current updates of Tulum and Mexico. I would highly recommend this trip for all people visiting the region who are wanting to go to the Ruins. We are looking forward to our next adventure with Rodrigo. Thank you!! Amanda and Aaron
I was recently in Tulum for my regular biannual vacation there and this time I went to the Tulum Ruins. I have been to the Tulum Ruins in the past with Eli, but now the new Jaguar Park is part of the site so I wanted to see that with Eli. The ruins are always interesting, but the Jaguar Park was beautiful! The walkways are very pretty and beautifully landscaped. The new Mayan Museum was pretty and very informative. Overall a great experience, highly recommend this company!
Had a great time on this tour. Wasn't too long or too short. Rodrigo was a very knowledgeable guide and he helped us take a lot of pictures.
Booking the private tour is nice for a few reasons, my husband is hard of hearing, so having it just be us two with the guide was very nice. It was also nice that we were able to move along in a timely manner because it was very very hot that day.
Derek communicated with me promptly after booking our reservation to the Tulum ruins. He instructed me where & when we were to be picked by our guide, Eli. Also, how to dress appropriately for our tour for comfort. Eli promptly picked us up at our hotel in Tulum in the morning and we were on our way. He is so kind and fun! He handled all the tickets and entrance access and guided us to take the tram over to the site. Once at the site, he shared his immense knowledge about the Mayan culture and history. He was open to any questions. He did not rush us, encouraged us to go down to the beach and even took some pictures for us. After the tour, we had asked for some lunch recommendations and he obliged. (Highly recommend his favorite spot: Restaurante Suspiro…a little bit of everything for someone.) He was a joy to spend our day with and would seek out his services for our next tour.
This an outstanding tour. We visited the museum first for background knowledge about the Mayan culture. Next we walked the toured the walled city to see the ruler’s home, guard towers and temples. Fair warning, it is a hot walk on limestone walkways. Wear sturdy shoes. Our Guide Rodrigo was very knowledgeable about the ruins as well as the animals and plants in the area. All in, it was a great day!!
Rodrigo was the best! Patient, accommodating and super informed about the Mayan history along with all of the agriculture and Mexican culture. Would highly recommend booking this tour for an experience you won’t forget!!
