Armando was amazing! We were lucky to be the only people on his tour that day so it’s very personalized and we learned so much from him that wish we had done it on the first day we arrived . We enjoyed the places he took us and the foods we ate. It was a marvelous experience. Highly recommended

Armondo was fantastic. Excellent guide and the food was very good
Armando was informative and was very pleasant to be with. He took me around the town & the tacos were delicious.
Armando was a great tour guide and really informed us on all the food & places. This was a great experience & I highly recommend!
My wife and I had a great time. We signed up for this very last minute just to kill some time before the wedding we were going to attend the next day. We honestly weren’t expecting much, but it ended up being one of our favorite things from our entire trip to Tulum. My wife and I wanted to do a couple things during our trip, but weren’t exactly sure when to fit them into our schedule. 1) We wanted to visit a local market. 2) We wanted to try a couple local taquerias. 3) We wanted to explore downtown Tulum. 4) We wanted to learn a little more about the history/culture of the area. We were able to experience all of this during our tour! Absolutely loved it!
I really enjoy these tours overall. I respect and appreciate that they can accommodate folks who have differing dietary needs. What is really bad about this tour is that there is no room for actual inclusiveness. If even ONE person on the tour is vegetarian or vegan, everyone else is up a creek. NO one will get meet. That made for a very different experience, one I didn't sign up for, wouldn't have paid for, and I did not enjoy the experience like I thought I would. If it's possible, ASK beforehand if this will be the case. I was sorely disappointed, and feel like I missed out on a lot.
Very nice tour of downtown Tulum. We got to try 5 different places, all unique dishes, and some new things I had never had before! We went with Armando who was very engaging and taught me more about the Yucatán, which I really appreciated. Now I just want more salbutes!
Our guide Alex was knowledgeable and friendly, making our day excellent! We are our weight in delicious foods, learned about cooking, history, and traditions. Our children loved the day and tried all kinds of new foods!
Our guide Armondo was amazing. He was knowledgeable about all the food stops and gave us insight into Tulum-things to do, places to visit and shop. The food was excellent, local places we would have never found. Each place was unique, and so tasty.
Enrique was amazing and so knowledgeable about Tulum and its history. The food was delicious and we got to eat in places you wouldn’t dream of entering as a tourist, but it was the best food that I’ve eaten in Mexico.
Delicious local food, incredibly knowledgable, friendly and fluent guide, great recommendations for things to do in Tulum - would recommend!
This is not a hands on experience with food. You get a variety of taco styles and interesting information about the food and the area. The tour is approximately 3 hours but the walking is easy and plenty of rest at each stop.
Diego was amazing! So knowledgeable and a true foodie! Each place we went had something unique, local, and special about it. We found some definite repeat places that we have added to our food list!
It is very fun. If you expect to eat a lot, you won’t, but that is not the point of the tour… you will get to sample different and delicious tacos as well as get a history and explanation of the differences. We were with Armando and he was such a delight! Very knowledgeable and entertaining.
Our food tour with Diego from Carmen Food Tours was hands-down one of the highlights of our time in Tulum. The tacos and tamales were exceptional. Local surprises were authentic, flavorful, and clearly coming from places that residents actually eat. Diego curated an incredible lineup of stops, each with its own story, tradition, and unforgettable flavors. Every bite felt intentional, and the experience struck the perfect balance between amazing food, cultural insight, and relaxed fun. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does—and it shows in the care he puts into the tour. If you want to experience real Tulum through its food, this is the way to do it. Come hungry, leave happy, and expect to talk about these tacos long after you’re home. 🌮✨ Highly recommend Diego and Carmen Food Tours, we’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Our tour guide was knowledgeable about the history of the region, yet when it came to food, we felt it truly lacked. After looking at all of the pictures presented in the descriptions, and everyone’s comments, we were super excited about this tour. It was an experience for my niece’s birthday. What we got was 3 places to try tacos, one mole, and one dessert. It was disappointing. He explained to us the variety of ways that the corn tortilla was used but we don’t get to try those. We only tried tacos. The first place was an al Pastor taco I believe but the meat was very dry and all that helped it were the toppings. We went to a second place and had tacos again (imagine thinking you’re going to try a variety of foods only to continuously get tacos). We got two tacos there and they were ok but nothing to fall home about. Finally, we walked to another place and got the mole. The best part of that place was the pineapple and spinach juice they provided us. Finally; the 4th place I asked for a flour tortilla because the consistency of the corn was not ideal. This taco was very delicious. We all scarfed it down. Lastly, we got a dessert. We thought our tour was for 3hrs but it ended around 7:30. It did not provide in our opinion an overall look of Mexican food experience. Most of the restaurants we went to, didn’t have much people. When you go on a food tour you want to see that locals are present. For the amount of money we paid, it was not worth it. We could’ve gone to a taqueria near where we were staying and had a feast for the amount of money we paid. It left us with a flat affect and it was on our last night in tulum. If you’re looking for an authentic experience with flavorful food, this is not the tour for you.
We enjoyed it but thought it very expensive. $700 for 7 of us. Armando was very happy to share his local knowledge and give us a real insight to local life in Tulum.
I didn’t go because I had crazy jet lag but my partner went and it was their favorite thing that they did on our trip. They loved the food and ate more food than I think they have ever eaten in one sitting! Also raved about the tour guide Alo! Alo was super rad and gave us lots of tips for Tulum and was incredibly kind! 10/10 do recommend!!!!
We had a great time exploring Tulum with Alex! The great thing about a tour like this is you get to visit places you might otherwise miss - on side streets or tucked away with a small store front. Alex was a lot of fun and told us a lot of interesting history. We left feeling very full and are returning to at least one of the restaurants while we’re still here. I also appreciated the restaurants were all locally owned and a tip was included for each stop throughout the tour.
Great experience! Armando was super knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was great. Would definitely recommend!
This wasn’t just a food tour but it was also a cultural experiment. Armando explained the food, Mayan people & traditions. All 3 of us loved the experience and highly recommend it
Armando was simply wonderful as was our tour and tasting of Tulum! His knowledge and love of Tulum is clear and there is so much to learn and eat! We experienced carefully selected foods that locals enjoy that were so delicious and incredible! I highly recommend this opportunity! Thank you to Armando for showing our family such a wonderful time!
Alex was great! He took us through all of our stops with background on the food we were eating, some regional information, and personal experiences that made the tour enjoyable.
Great evening with our guide, who took us to many small local restaurants off the beaten path, great food options at each stop! Thank you for a fun foodie evening!
Alex was our guide. He was so fun to hangout and eat with. He had all of the best recommendations and was super knowledgeable about the local food and culture. Good luck with your band, Alex!!
Amazing time with Alex! Had a wonderful evening with so many amazing local food stops to try. Would 100% recommend for anyone!
Great experience. Visited places we definitely wouldn’t have on our own, where local people were eating their daily meals. Plenty of stops to feel full, but not sick. With just the right amount of local history information for context.
Manny led us to about seven locations where we tasted a variety of Mexican foods at places that were experts at their offering (One was Manny himself with his addition to cactus fruit). All were good, and the real education was the various toppings and sauces that allowed you to really personalize your meal. He also was very good in ensuring a vegetarians in the group was catered for at every stop.
Signed up for a last-minute food tour on our first day in TUlum. We wanted to know some of the specialties so we could then decide what to eat later in the week. We had a couple good tacos, a tamale, an enchilada, some corn and some fresh juice, Plus and Ice Cream Bar. I enjoyed getting to know the town and some good local restaurants.
I was disappointed as there was not a variety of foods. We did not come away with a good sampling of the wonderful foods that Tulum has to offer. Our guide was very good. The food was good. Too many tacos. The dessert was a frozen bar on a stick. Good flavor variety offered. We were disappointed not to sample another type of the delicious mexican desserts.
We had an excellent time on the food tour with Armando! He took us to places we never would have known to try and gave us great onsite to not only the food, but to Tulum and surrounding area as well. The food was delicious and Armando was a lot of fun to walk around with. It was a highlight of our trip.
We had the best time on this food tour. The variety, history and deliciousness were top notch. Our guide Emanuel had us smiling laughing and learning. This tour was a highlight of our trip 10/10 recommend.
For me, one of the best ways to experience a culture is through its food and Armando made sure we got the best of what Tulum has to offer. Not only did we get to eat some amazing tacos, he worked to personalize the tour to us by including even more regional tacos in our order since we were already familiar with some of the more famous ones. All-in-all, just a really fun night exploring Tulum and learning about Mayan culture.
We loved the Tulum Local Walking Food Tour! Armando was incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming, and he introduced us to several delicious local spots. It is a lot of great food, so I would recommend arriving with an empty stomach. We tried amazing tacos and learned so much about the local cuisine and culture. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience with awesome food. We really enjoyed the tour. Armando was a great guide who also told us some details about culture and history. We can recommend this experience!
My son and I did this tour and tour guide Armando was phenomenal! He was so knowledgeable about the area and the history of Tulum - we had such great conversation on top of the great food! We went to places that I know I would have found on my own. We enjoyed the the choices that were curated for us - we are motivated to try some to make some of these things on our own!
You probably get $10 worth of food. Very overpriced tour for what you get. Some of the places we went were dirty and not good. Two stops were good. The guide was good and friendly and knowledgeable. They did accommodate vegetarian options at some stops.
Armando was amazing!! So knowledgeable! Great food! Must do activity in Tulum! Especially at the beginning of your vacation, lots of tips for places to go!
What an excellent way to get your bearings and eat at some authentic spots in downtown Tulum. Muy delicioso, great for foodies! Armando is an amazing guide full of knowledge and experience! Thank you so much!
We had such a great tour with Armando and so much amazing food!😍 It was perfect that we did the tour at the beginning of our vacation but I think even if you have stayed in Mexico/ Tulum already for a while, you will learn a lot:) We can recommend this tour to everyone!❤️
A very pleasant and knowledgeable guide who gives great tips not only about food but everything else related to your stay in Mexico!
This was insanely expensive. 88$ usd a person and we ate maybe 10$ each worth of food and drink. Left hungry and huge lack of diversity. The guide bragged about how cheap the food was at the places we went. More over emphasizing how we did NOT get what we paid for. Would NOT recommend.
Armando was our tour guide and he was awesome! so nice and accommodated for a family member with gluten allergy! we discovered great eating places in tulum that had affordable prices!!!
Fun, informative and Armando was a great guide! Fantastic way to see the city, with multiple local spots we would have never found without this tour!
Armando was amazing and super engaged during the tour! We ate really good food, walked together with our group and got to socialize with other travelers.highly recommend to take this tour early in your trip.
We had a great time trying different vegan food in downtown Tulum. Armando was an awesome guide. Very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Thank you Armando!
By far one of the best food tours we’ve ever taken (and we’ve taken A LOT!) Armando was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to spend the evening with. We felt like we were with a local friend, enjoying their local favorite eateries (and he really does eat at these spots!) We liked the way each location had a reason for being. Tamales at one place tacos at another. This is a real locavor experience. Some delicious hole-in-the-wall gems that you’d probably never try otherwise. Ours was the evening tour and we ended at a popsicle stand. I would never have stopped there, but I’m so glad that Armando did. If you’re a foodie, book this tour! And make sure you come hungry! There’s a lot to eat on the streets of Tulum!
Great tour, very informative and delicious food, would highly recommend. It’s a great way to look around the town too.
Armando was a great tour guide! He was personable and knowledgeable. The tour took us to places we would not have found on our own.
Good tour, nice guide, great food Visit 5 places for a taco or equivalent in each with backstory and other interesting info and history. All places you would not wander into and try yourself. Don’t expect Michelin stars - think more plastic plates and chairs and dining with the locals!
