Our guide, Tania, was amazing; we booked a group trip but it ended up being just us as a family. She took great care to ensure we moved at a good pace wasn’t rushed. The cenote caves were amazing and she did a great job with our teens and made it really engaging for them. It was also unique to go through a cenote cave so I would highly recommend it.

Itinerary
This is a half day tour that combines snorkeling with colorful fish with an awesome private cenote & cave. First we visit an inlet to snorkel with the vast array of Caribbean fish and there is always the possibility to see a stingray or a sea turtle. For this activity we visit an inlet or a bay to avoid waves and currents, making the snorkeling safe & easy. Cenotes are one of the most attractive characteristics of the landscape of the Yucatan peninsula. These amazing caves are full of all kinds of magnificent limestone formations, stalactites and columns. But it is the fact that they are flooded with rainwater which makes them so special. These natural wells were and still are considered sacred - they provide access to the vital liquid that gives life (water) and in traditional Mayan thought, they are also the entrance to the Underworld. We visit an exclusive cavern where we are able to appreciate the different kinds of formations and learn about their process of evolution, walking through galleries for 600 m. underground. This is a truly magical and spiritual journey through the Mayan Underworld.

The views were incredible! Marco took my wife and I on a private tour snorkeling in a cenote lagoon to start. He provided all of the equipment that was needed and shared wonderful tidbits of history and geology regarding the cenote. We then went to a private cave with a cenote inside! Very fun and adventurous tour with great insight of the natural history. We then had lunch at a wonderful local taco shop. The best food we’ve had all vacation! Marco was wonderful in every aspect and I would highly recommend him as a guide for this and any other tours he leads!
Kenia is an amazing guide; you can feel her passion and love for animals and the environment through her sharing. We had a really great time snorkeling and exploring the Cenote today. Extremely fun experience!
We did an AMAZING snorkeling and cenote tour with Ursula. Plenty of beautiful fish and the cenote tour was amazing to see. Our tour guide, Ursula, was super knowledgeable, polite and shared information about the different birds, animals and Mayan culture. After learning so much in a few hours, we would have loved to book another tour however time didn't permit. We would love to come back and tour with Ursula again! Till next time!
We had a great experience with Ursula showing us the best place to snorkle! It was amazing to hear the knowledge that Ursula and Daniel had to share about local issues and culture. In the tour we eventually went into a cavern where we swam through underground to find a special swimming area that felt so special since it was just our group there. I have pretty high expectations as a traveler but I would highly recommend taking this adventure.
Alondria and Jesus were fantastic tour guides. We really appreciate their excellent guest services and hospitality. We did the reef and private cenote tour. Both sites were absolutely amazing. The reef was one of the prettiest I’ve seen in a long time. Many living and colorful corals and tons of fish. The cenote was beyond any expectations we had. To just call it a cenote and compare to so many others wasn’t enough. It’s a cenote with an underground river. You enter a cave wonderland mixing ecology and Mayan mysticism. It just happens to be full of pristine water. Alondria gave excellent natural history and history of the people who called and still call the Yucatan home. On the way to drop us home, some locals were feeding birds on the beach. The magnificent frigate birds were mixed in with the gulls. The frigate is my favorite bird and they stopped so that I could see the birds up close and get some photos. Perfect end to a really great day. The restaurant was just ok but the staff were friendly and facilities clean. The booking team communicated through text and kept us updated before the tour began. Seriously some of the best service I’ve had in a long time.
I’ve never been to Mexico so I had some worry with picking tours and activities but this was an absolute TREAT. Do not hesitate to book it and specifically request Martín. He was AMAZING. So warm, welcoming, well-educated and respectful of the significance of the beautiful land we got to tour and see. We learned so much and felt so safe with him and Axel driving us around. It was a once in a lifetime experience that I would 100% book again without hesitation. Lunch was delicious at a local taco joint and they were very receptive to our groups dietary needs. He also gave us local recommendations for other activities. Great experience overall.
Martín was amazing! The tour was incredible and he provided so much interesting information. We will be back to do it again some day.
Can not say enough good things!! This was my second time doing the tour. Martín was my guide each time and he made it that much more amazing. Definitely request him to be your guide! He’s so kind and funny and enjoys sharing a lot about the area, with tips on other activities to do and places to eat. Will be doing this tour with Martín every time we visit!
Everything was great! They were very hospitable and took very great care of each of us! Were knowledgeable. It was great to hear about the culture and the history.
Amazing views and the hosts, Carlos & Lea & Rubin were so nice. They were very informative and made sure we were safe. We saw the fishes in sea and the beautiful cenotes.
The underground Cenote was spectacular. Our guides Paloma and Ruben looked after us really well. Highly recommended way to spend a morning in Tulum / Akumel
Private cenote exploration with carlos. The cenote experience was half in the water with caving ending in a large swimmable pool
One of my best trips ever was the private cenotaph and cave system. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Jose Carlos Ernesto were great
Carlos our guide and Claudia the driver kept us informed, shared much about Mayan culture. When weather and scheduling caused a needed change, he quickly came up with an alternative plan. I appreciate the excursion had a maximum of 10 people. The Cenote experience was super cool and we were the only group at that time. The bay snorkeling was great and unique from ocean. Pick up and drop off was on time. Safety was a priority the whole time.
Incredible! Niko took my boyfriend and I to snorkel the second largest reef in the world and it was a beautiful experience! We then hiked/waded/swam thru a cenote in Akumal and then finished up with tacos. He was so kind and knowledgeable. Even offered us homemade granola bars. Definitely recommend booking with Mexico Kan Tours. Thanks again, Niko!!
This was an amazing tour. The snorkeling in a coral reef near Tulum, in an incredibly beautiful place was really great. We went there were early and I think that we were alone there at this moment. All this beautiful ocean was just for us. After the snorkeling, right when it start to be hotter outside, we went to the second part of the trip in a private Cenote near Akumal. This was also an amazing. This Cenote is incredibly beautiful, and we were completely alone here, in a very small group with our amazing guide - Macarena. This visit to Cenote was a real experience, like to be in another world. The places we have visited were amazing, stunning but visiting them in a nice company and with Macarena was another great part of experience. Maca was great, professional and caring guide. We also could feel how much she loves and cares for the places she made us to visit. And with her, it is impossible to not fell in love with Tulum, it’s ocean and beaches, Cenotes and Mayan culture. Thank a lot to Maca and Mexican Kan Tours for this incredible experience. For sure we will return to Tulum and try some other tours next time!
This is a wonderful boutique experience. That is a complete home run. Macarena, our tour guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, and loved the sense of adventure that we were looking for and delivered. Highly recommend this tour
Fernando is supremely awesome! Loved this tour so much! The cave experience was one of the most incredible things I have ever done. My 15 year old son and I are thrilled to have been able to do this. Every step of the way Fernando was a superior guide who really enhanced everyone's experience. Not to mention the food and the snacks ...they were excellent!
Fernando is an amazing guide who made the cenote walking and swimming experience extra special by introducing a minute of silent meditation and connection with nature in the dark. The whole trip was fantastic and very well organized; the guide was knowledgeable and super friendly, great English and clearly passionate about his work, the food was delicious. Not to mention that the experience itself - the coral reef snorkeling and the underground river tour are absolutely unique - we couldn't stop ourselves from audibly gasping and laughing in amazement on several occasions!
AMAZING! this tour got our holidays off to a great start. Communication was always effective and professional as was the transportation. The snorkeling on the reef was fantastic and the equipment of good quality and in good condition. The tour only got better in the cave which is in my opinion a must see! Our tour guide Fernando was so in touch with nature and the experience and conversation with him was second to none. Can only recommend this tour to anyone seeking the perfect day of adventure. Thanks to the Mexico Kan tour team.
Pablo was the absolute best!! I’ve already recommended this experience to other people and I just went yesterday. I’d do it a million times if I could!
Perfectly timed and all equipment, tour guide, transportation, food, and vibes were better than we could have hoped for. Such a unique, fun, and educational time. Shout out to Pablo our tour guide for leading us the way!
The tour is amazing! First snorkelling on the reef and visiting the underground cave system where your mind and body is reborn. Also the tour guide Pablo with his contagious laughter made this an experience of a lifetime.
Great experience, amazing guide Carlos with impressive knowledge of local life and traditions. Everything in English. First - amazing reef adventure. We saw so many different fishes and even 1 barracuda! Huge one... Carlos showed us epic cenote and caves. Going trough darkness with just flash lights to see amazing top open cenote. Jumping into the fresh water it was just amazing! Helped us around and it was generally very fun and interesting. Separately I would say another thanks for amazing burgers that he made for us. It was very delicious! Finishing with great rice cake and stories about cenotes and structure of thouse in Yucatan peninsula. Very interesting experience! Definitely a recommendation
My girlfriend and I did this tour while visiting Tulum from NYC. We had a great time and our host, Miguel, was incredible. The tour was very personal and there was only one other couple with us. The couple was very rude actually but Miguel kept a great attitude the entire time and did not let it impact his thoughts and feelings. Miguel was extremely in touch with nature and loves his profession and was able to explain everything with great passion. He took us to an AMAZING cenote (the best one we visited while in Tulum) and we had an incredible time in the underground caves. Again, it was a private tour in the cenote which made it an incredible experience. For snorkeling, the water was very rough that day and there was a lot of sediment causing the water to not be very clear but that is not anyone's fault. The coral was still very beautiful and we saw plenty of fish.
Marco was an excellent guide and very informative. He pointed out many different fish and explained to us about the reef. And the caves were even more amazing! Again, very informative. Especially liked the 5 minutes of no lights inside the cave while Marco told the story of the Mayan gods and the underworld. Highly recommend!!
Sky was awesome. She was super funny and engaging with all of us. Snorkeling was great, but I think the Cenote was even better. It was so cool wandering/swimming through the cave without any natural light. She was incredibly knowledgeable and made the adventure incredibly fun. Would highly recommend.
We had the pleasure of getting a private tour with Iber for the day and we had a blast. The snorkeling was beautiful and we saw all sorts of cool fish we had never seen before. The cenotes are an adventure you can’t get back home and it’s something we won’t forget. Once again a big shout out to Iber who did a great job of keeping it fun and educational. He was very knowledgeable and one of the best guides we have ever had.
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Tulum. Our guide, Marko, was charismatic and super informative. Took us out to a beautiful beachside resort where we boarded the boat and began with snorkeling in 2 different locations of the coral reefs. We spent the rest of the time exploring the underwater cave and where it opened up into a beautiful cenote. It is definitely an experience I will never forget.
We had such an amazing/unforgettable time. I’ve never done anything like this but it’s a time I will forever remember. Thank you
This was the best snorkeling and Cenote tour ever! Our tour guide was Karen and she was so friendly and hospitable along with her assistant. The snorkeling lagoon we went to had so many beautiful fish! It was very calm too, so perfect for beginner snorkeling. The Cenote was just a magical experience with both underground and open features. It was breathtaking and beautiful and only accessible through private tour. The lunch was delicious and felt authentic and genuine, eating in the open jungle together. We really appreciate their hard work and accommodation in this tour!
We had a great time snorkeling and exploring the underground mayan cenotes! Nico was a great guide that went above and beyond to make our experience excellent, we felt like we were on a trip with a friend!
Everything was amazing!! We absolutely loved it! It was just my husband and I on this tour and we were able to learn so much about sea life and Mayan history! 10/10 recommend our tour guide was Marco and he was wonderful!
We went on a tour with Marco and our excellent driver Antonio. Marco provided so much history and took us exploring to see the Mayan under world as well as snorkeling. We had so much fun in his tour group! Our driver Antonio was so kind, we had a wonderful experience with him driving between places.
This excursion was hands-down the highlight of my trip Martin our tour guide was not only extremely informative and well educated in regards to the local ecosystem and wildlife he was extremely friendly and an awesome tour guide that made us feel safe and excited to explore. Martin treated us like we were his family. Would definitely recommend for anybody looking to have a awesome excursion in Tulum and would definitely recommend Martin for a tour guide 10/10
Amazing tour! Carlos our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The underground river caves were amazing and very unique. Definitely recommend!
Carlos was great! He was super knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. He was also super fun!
So much fun! Our guide, Nicholas, was knowledgeable and engaging. The lagoons at Akumal were gorgeous and the underground cenote was breathtaking. We left our phone in the car with the driver for the underground river portion, so I regret that we did not get any photos. This tour is definitely worth the price, as taxis in Tulum are outrageous and we easily would have paid near the price of the tour just for transportation to these locations and back. This tour includes pickup directly from your hotel, transportation to two places, all entrance fees, a delicious lunch, a wonderful guide and driver, and drop off directly back to your hotel.
I had an amazing experience. First snorkeling and then the underground river that leads to a closed cenote. Carlos our tour guide is seemingly symbiotic to the nature underground and he explained and showed us things straight out of National Geographic. Totally magical. Only regret is not having an underwater camera.
The cave is a very unique experience. Unfortunately, the snorkeling was a bit spoiled because of the seaweeds even though it is not their fault. Our guide was great. In general, the excursion seems a bit overpriced.
The wonderful experience started with our driver, Sergio. He picked us up promptly from our resort lobby. He was extremely kind from the moment we stepped on his van. His English was excellent and therefore, we enjoyed conversations with him throughout the trip to the lagoon. As we drove to the destination, he informed us of the culture and history of the villages we were passing along the way. Once we arrived at the lagoon, we met Iber and the other couple we were exploring the lagoon with that afternoon. They were very friendly and Iber/Sergio were extremely helpful in making sure all of our personal items were taken care of. Sergio even took pictures on our phone as we snorkeled in the lagoon. Iber was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the park, wildlife, and art along the way. The water was slightly chilly but beautiful! We were lucky and got to see a lot of fish. After about 45 minutes of snorkeling, we had a yummy homemade snack of granola and bananas before heading to the Cenote. Again, the drive was enjoyable as Sergio made conversation with us the whole drive. The Cenotes were incredibly beautiful! Breathtaking actually! It was difficult to wrap our heads around the natural beauty. Iber was SO knowledgeable and respectful of the integrity of the Cenote and of the Mayan cultural throughout the tour. After the Cenote tour, Sergio had an authentic picnic lunch prepared for us! It was incredibly YUMMY and was prepared by a local Tulum family. We most enjoyed that the tour was only us and one other couple because Iber was able to answer our questions throughout the tour without the hassle of a large group. I also appreciated that the transportation was private so we didn’t have to go out of our way to visit other resorts for pickup/drop off. We felt so comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire experience. I would highly recommend requesting Iber and Sergio on your tour with Mexican Kan Tours. 10/10 experience!
We started the half-day tour together with our guide Paloma in the morning. Pick-up was very punctual from our hotel in Tulum. First we headed to a lagune for snorkling and saw a lot of beautiful/colourful fishes. Afterwards we went to the Maya Undeground cave which ended ina beautiful cenote, where we have been all by ourselfs. It was an amazing experience. Our guide Paloma was so lovely and told us a lot about the Mayan live. She prepared snack (banana, self made cookied) and took fotos of us whenever we wanted. I can really recommend her as tour guide! All in all a very nice tour!
We had a great time on this tour! Our guide was so nice and very knowledgable. I highly recommend this tour!
The lagoon and snorkeling experience was phenomenal. We saw so many fish! Loved our tour guides :) highly recommend going. The cenote was gorgeous, sacred and a spiritual experience. Walter and I would definitely recommend this to anyone! In addition, we got a homemade lunch from a local family. Worth the price!
We only had time for one tour during our stay in Tulum and I honestly don't think we could have picked a better option. We were unsure of what to expect, but were completely blown away by the unbelievable experience our guide Karen provided!!! Karen made sure we arrived to our snorkeling location early enough to beat any crowds which allowed us to see more fish than we would have ever seen on our own. As wonderful as that was, it was the underground river and cenote tour that really made this the highlight of our entire trip! Not only were was the location stunning, but I can't say enough about how Karen elevated the experience as our guide. Wether it was explaining the ecological or geological inner workings of the cave, or the cultural significance to the mayan people Karen was a true wealth of knowledge. Hands down the best guided tour I've ever experienced. Amazing from start to finish!
Not normally ones to do a guided tour, my husband and I decided to book a private snorkel and cenote tour. I am SO glad we did! We ended up with an incredible tour experience led by our even more incredible guide, Karen. We arrived to snorkeling early enough to beat the crowds and enjoy some time swimming amongst the mangroves and fishes. Then we headed to a private cenote. This cenote was hands down one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. No matter the topic, Karen was a wealth of knowledge. She filled our tour with interesting historical information, Mayan spiritual beliefs, environmental information, and fascinating insights. Plus, she was a blast to hang out with! Our driver was so friendly and kind. The tour provided great snacks, a super tasty lunch and water for us. We can’t wait to return and do the full day in Coba with them!
Had a great time! Highly recommend this. While the sites are beautiful, our guide Karen was the highlight! She is so warm and knowledgeable about the ecosystems we explored such that the context she provided helped us appreciate what we were taking in sooooo much more. The cenote exploration was really fun. We had the whole space to ourselves. We even turned off our flashlights at some point and couldn’t hear anything but the bats. It was amazing. Also our driver was great-he was prompt and helped make sure we had all of the things we needed throughout the day. He set up lunch while we finished up exploring the cenote. Such wonderful people host this experience-10/10 would do again!
The tour was great, Luigi did not stop entertaining us throughout the whole trip. Totally recomend it!
This was a lovely tour. Got to see so many beautiful fish when snorkelling and the trip to the Cenote through the caves was incredible. Our guide Karen was great. She really looked after us and shared so much interesting information on the area, history and wildlife
