In addition to the archeological sites, I really wanted to do a tour exploring nature and this one certainly delivered. Martin and Christina were our tour guides and they made sure everything is perfect and shared lots of useful information with us. Because of the knowledgeable guides we were able to see all the main animals - dolphins, manatees, a crocodile, turtles and lots of beach. If you like spending time on a boat/close to water this tour is the right choice. Warm recommendation!

Itinerary
After passing the entrance to the Sian Ka' an Biosphere, the guide will give an introductory tour on the biosphere. After driving for another 30 to 40 minutes on an unpaved BUMPY ROAD (this is an adventure!) you will board a boat in order to explore the coastal lagoons and marine ecosystems that characterize Sian Ka'an, and discover the fauna and flora that lies within it. IF the weather allows it, we jump into the water to snorkel on a section of the barrier reef system, home to thousands of aquatic species. Later on, we visit a beautiful sandbank the locals call "nature's swimming pools", where we take time to relax & swim. In the town of Punta Allen, located at the tip of the headland overlooking the bay, we have a local lunch and take some time to relax.

The Mexicokan tour people were fantastic. They put our tour together such short notice and the guide Nico was great. Colton’s, turtles, crocodiles, loads of fish while snorkeling. A must do while in Tulum.
The day delivered well beyond expectations. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We saw crocodiles, dolphins, turtles and the mangrove and its birds and plants. When do you get such opportunity? The snack was deliciously home made, the lunch simple, locally sourced and tasty. Our guide Ursula was super nice and knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the area - she even lived in this remote part of the region.
Went to the biosphere with Leah, who was so wonderful and did an amazing job! She taught us so much about the wildlife and nature around us. We saw a manatee, dolphins, and got to snorkel and see some sea turtles! Our car driver Axel was also very safe and both boat drivers, Alexis and Martin were so fun and made sure we saw some amazing wild life!
We just got back from our tour to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere with Lea and we had such a good time. Everything was so well-planned, from pickup to drop-off. Lea was incredibly knowledgeable about the biosphere, teaching us about its history and the many kinds of birds, fish, and other animals that live there. She knew where to take us to see dolphins, manatees, birds, and turtles. The snorkeling was fabulous- crystal clear waters and loads of fish. Lea is fluent in German, Spanish, English, and French, so she was able to guide our multilingual group with no problem. We greatly enjoyed our tour and highly recommend it to anyone who loves nature!
The tour is wonderful from pickup to drop off. The boat ride through the wetlands was beautiful and we saw dolphins, manatees, pelicans and other special birds. Then we took a different boat out on the ocean and were lucky to go snorkeling with beautiful fish. The. We swam in a natural pool, which was a swallow part of the sea of light green color. After we had delicious lunch in Punta Allen, saw a crocodile in the lagoon and went back. Guides are friendly and knowledgeable. There are places in the world you can reach more easily to snorkel and see dolphins, but sian kaan is not one of them which it’s why it is costly to go there. You go in a small group and spend a lot of time with the guides and several captains which costs money. It’s nice to support the Punta Allen community.
It was a very lovely tour. We got to see every single animal that were mentioned in the tour. Sadly we weren't able to snorkel due to high waves. Pablo was nice enough to do use the snorkel mask at the shallow natural swimming area in the ocean. We got to see some pretty fishes and a crab. Pablo was very intelligent about different species and habitats. Highly recommend this tour.
Jessica and Pablo were both fantastic, funny, helpful and eco conscious (which is important to me). Great tour if the biosphere with so many animals.
The Sian Ka'an Adventure Full Day Trip to Punta Allen was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our vacation. The natural beauty of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve is breathtaking, with crystal-clear waters, lush mangroves, and incredible wildlife. We were lucky to see dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of birds in their natural habitat. The boat ride was exciting, and the guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the area's unique ecosystem. Everything was well organized, and the entire day felt like a true adventure. If you love nature and wildlife, this tour is an absolute must. Highly recommended!
We were very lucky to see a manatee amongst many other incredible animals! Punta Allen I could’ve skipped. Rodrigo (captain) and Jessica (guide) were very passionate and entertaining. Miguel was OK until he flipped out on me due to a misunderstanding at lunch. I think he was having a bad day so I forgive him. I am a Travel Agent and will recommend this tour, but probably the half day as Punta Allen was not worth it to me
We had a great day exploring Sian Kaan. There were eleven in the group, divided k to two boats. Christina was a great guide who is passionate about this land and the animals who inhabit it. Learned a lot of these amazing animals and we got to see crocs, a manatee, dolphins, turtles and many different bird species. Christina was very kind to my daughter and gave her many opportunities to see these beautiful animals up close. The captain was great as he put us very close to them. Great lunch in Punta Allen's local village. Met a lot of great people on this tour. We got a flat tire as we were trying to return so we played some soccer on the beach. Great day.
We had a wonderful day with Niko and Pablo! They were both extremely knowledgeable and passionate, great with people, jovial and experts at spotting animals.
We had such a wonderful experience and we loved our guide, Cristina. The boat ride was exciting, the nature was beautiful and insightful, and the waters were turquoise like in the caribbean. After dealing with so much seaweed on the beaches, this is a needed escape from all that. Swimming in the waters felt amazing. We would do this tour again when we come back to Tulum! Def a highlight!
We went on the full day adventure. From the start there was brilliant communication from the company through the WhatsApp channel. Pick up was smooth and on time. Our guides Pablo and Marco were a great duo. Victor was our driver and did a great job as well. On the tour we got to see manatee, underwater cenote, dolphins, snorkeling by a reef and saw lots of fish, a massive lobster and a stingray. We saw lots of birds and the mangroves. Pablo was excellent in that he was explaining everything and seemed to really enjoy his work! The lunch was really nice, would recommend either the mayan fish or mayan chicken. Overall, well worth it!
My wife and i went on this tour in the shoulder season, and it didn't disappoint. Ursula and Christina are absolute rock stars. Lunch at Punta Allen is so beautiful, and the locals are great. Unfortunately, as many others have said in their reviews, it was too rough to snorkelling, but that is out of the tour operators hands. However, spotting crocodiles, green turtles, and a dolphin that just wanted to show off was great. Pick up and drop off went smoothly, and Hector was a boss on those dirt roads. Ursula and Christine were even able to keep a half dozen hungover US lads going. Definitely worth the trip.
If you are contemplating a Mexican day trip, this one tops them all! We had the good fortune of having PABLO from MEXICO KAN TOURS guide us through Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. We were part of a small group, 6 in total and were collected from our hotel early in the morning. From the start, communication was clear and Pablo and our driver were friendly and engaging. Snacks and water was provided too! Pablo's knowledge and passion for the environment and wildlife was infectious. We traveled through Sian Ka'an in a small speedboat, stopping at various locations to spot Manatee, dolphins, Eagles, Boobies, Pelicans, Heron. We were very fortunate to see all these wonderful creatures as the weather conditions were perfect. As the sea was calm , we also got the opportunity to snorkel on the barrier reef and saw a multitude of fish, sharks and stingray. Afterwards, we had the luxury of relaxing in the crystal clear waters of the "swimming pool". It was heaven on earth. Lunch was had at The Ocean View in Punta Allan, a small friendly fishing village on the end of the sandbank. We learnt so much Mexican historical, environmental and wildlife information. Pablo's 'happy place' became ours too! Many thanks.
Absolutely amazing, perfect tour of nature, swimming and the Sian Ka'an biosphere, stunning. Guides were so warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Would do this again. Transportation was convenient and timely. Reserve we saw manatees, dolphins, many birds, stingrays, turtles, nurse sharks. Lunch was lovely fresh fish. Whole day perfect, most beautiful swimming ever.
This was a great day of nature led by Pablo and Lea. They were both so friendly and knowledgeable about what we were doing/seeing. We got to see manatees, which included a baby one, dolphins, and sea turtles. We didn’t get to snorkel that day due to rough conditions. We then went swimming in a natural pool, which was some of the most beautiful water during my whole vacation. Then had a delicious lunch in Punta Allen before the trip back. Make sure to bring sun protection, as you won’t feel the sunburn while the boat is moving! Also be aware it can be a long day if you aren’t staying right in tulum. Otherwise if you are a nature lover I would highly recommend this tour.
Our guide, Martin, and boat driver (Jaimie?) were both incredible. We saw so many beautiful animals and birds. Manatees, dolphins, turtles, and more. There were two boats with 10 people and it was a manageable size tour. Really amazing day.
Si-an Kaan trip review - we booked through Tui at our hotel 2 adults 1 x11 year old we really enjoyed, take good quality suncream like a banana boat F50, sunglasses for the boat as they go so fast. Hats forget them they blow off a couple got lost. The birds and water wildlife is lovely to see the photo opportunities are out there so go enjoy the staff know so much so do ask a question. The buffet at fisherman beach wasn’t the best but we managed. For those afraid of the sargassum well u had no choice u had to get off the boat and wade through it to get onto the beach. There’s showers 🚿 so at least u can wash the pollution off. We walked through the reserve which was lovely and back to the dock. The trip host spoke Mexican, English & French he was incredible the roads aren’t great from Tulum down to the reserve so one to consider if u don’t travel well dirt tracks and the worst potholes. However we are super glad we booked
This was a fantastic day out. Our group's guide was Jessica and her enthusiasm was infectious. Jessica and our boat captain Julia made sure we saw all the Big 4 plus plenty of birds. The snorkelling was great - firstly we were impressed that the goggles and fins fit so well, secondly we saw lots of fish as well as coral. The water was clear and still, so perfect for snorkelling. The swim in the lagoon was lovely and the lunch at Punta Allen very well organised. The wildlife we missed in the morning, we saw in the afternoon - yay! Jessica has extensive knowledge of the wildlife and made the trip extremely fun! She was also aware of everyone's safety at all times. Highly recommend this day out!
An unforgettable trip through the Sian Kaan reserve. Our guides Maca and Lea and our captain Jaime, made a multi hour trip on boat through the reserve informative and fun. We saw all the major animals of the reserve including active crocodiles, dolphins, turtles and manatees during our trip. Our kids had a blast, including swimming in the lagoon. The lunch was delicious as well, we strongly recommend the Mayan fish dish. While the experience was expensive, it’s totally worth it as it was a small boat (only 6 passengers) and it felt like a private tour. Don’t let the expense stop you. It’s an amazing trip.
We had an amazing experience! We saw 2 crocodiles, 2 different types of sea turtles, a baby manatee and lots of dolphins. The ride was not near as bumpy as some reported. Our traditional man fish lunch was delicious! It was a beautiful trip into the biosphere with guides who truly care about the environment and respecting the animals. Leah and Maca were very knowledgeable and both had great personalities! Would definitely recommend! Veronica and Maria!
The boat ride was so beautiful and calming with great views. Learned a lot about wildlife conservation. Miguel was a friendly, welcoming, and educated guide!
Guide Lea gives a five star experience! Knowledgeable and personable. Boat operator highly adept at keeping us close to dolphins and turtles.
We had an amazing experience. We saw dolphins, turtles and a huge variety of birds. Miguel was our guide and he was so informative, interesting and passionate which made the tour all the more special. The tour is super respectful of the nature and the lunch after was fab ! Highly recommend.
This was the best money spent! This is a 6 passenger boat with an environmentalist on board explaining what they’ve discovered in the mangroves of Mexico. Between the biology, and history; there’s also a clear explanation of what is being done to protect and recover wildlife. Macarena made time for us to see so many animals and we understood the excitement of seeing some rare animals that we take for granted. It is a relaxing but long day. I’d definitely recommend UV clothing. We all wore it and still burned. Thank you Tony, our captain for sharing his excitement for the area as well!
Exceptional. Honestly, highly recommended A nature tour that was extremely well organised and ethically done. Martin and the boat captains clearly are very knowledgeable and you can see and experience how much respect they have for nature. Very refreshing to experience that, especially because many similar tours end up chasing the animals just so you can take a photo. However, this tour is different because you are able to admire the dolphins, turtles, mantees, potentially crocodiles without disturbing them. (E.g. the captains take you to an area where they know the animals are likely to be found, and then you see them being normal, not scared, or fleeing from the boats! A mother dolphin came about 10 meters from our boat with her baby dolphin out of curiosity!) Then the place where you have lunch, is out of this world too... Feels like you are in Paradise. Very memorable. Highly recommend it.
I did the Sian Ka’an tour with Paloma, which was nothing short of outstanding. Paloma was an extremely warm-hearted and welcoming guide. The biosphere itself is an incredible natural reserve with lots of amazing wildlife. On our tour, we encountered dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, different species of birds, and - my personal highlight - giant manta rays. I can highly recommend the tour.
Always love nature and conservation. Kenya and Mario were the guides through this biosphere nature preserve. English speaking . Very educational. We saw dolphins, sea turtles etc and bird island with many species of birds. Beautiful waters changing colors as your boat goes toward the ocean. Too windy for us to go snorkeling so they took us to an area with quiet water and we got to swim and play in the ocean . Took us to small village to a great restaurant and beach area , again all in the preserve area. And tried to find a crocodile, but didn't. Very interesting excursion. The guides were great.
This trip was absolutely incredible. We toured with Miguel and Martin, and Victor was our driver. While we interacted with both guides, the size of the group meant we spent most of our time adventuring with Martin and we couldn’t have asked for a better fit. He’s deeply conservation‑minded and genuinely passionate about caring for animals and the environment. That kind of heart is exactly what you want in a guide on a nature‑focused trip, and we appreciated it so much. Martin encouraged us to slow down, take in the surroundings, and really enjoy the moment. Thanks to his sharp eye, we spotted manatees, dolphins, stingrays, sea turtles, a crocodile, and several species of birds. Our son was hesitant to swim in open water even though he knows how to swim, and Martin handled it with such kindness. He took him out on the life preserver to help him feel safe and comfortable so he wouldn’t miss out on the experience.
Our tour guide, Paloma and our driver Jonathan made the day very memorable. My son was quite happy. We enjoyed history, culture, nature and the lazy river trip. Thank you.
Fantastic day trip for the family with brilliant guide, Kenia. We saw dolphins, manatee, a turtle and a crocodile. Great snorkelling on the reef and a dip in the shallows. Lovely lunch and memorable coffee stop at Punta Allen.
Great experience. Beautiful nature but as always in Mexico it's the people who make the experience unforgettable. Thank you to the dream team Macarena y Miguel❤️
Chill vibe, awesome snorkelling spot and swimming spot, fresh and yummy lunch, adequate bathroom stops.
The trip was fantastic; our guides, Miguel and Kenya, were knowledgeable, friendly, skilled, and clearly passionate about their work and about this beautiful and important reserve. Everything from pickup to dropoff went smoothly. It’s true that you are somewhat at the mercy of nature with a tour like this; in our case, we were unable to snorkel due to rough seas, and despite the best efforts of our gudes and boat captains, we were unable to find any crocodiles. However, we were able to see manatees, dolphins, and green sea turtles up close, along with a huge variety of birds (bring binoculars!), and enjoy a relaxing swim break in a beautiful lagoon. Lunch in Punta Allen was delicious; visiting this tiny town felt like stepping back in time to the 1980s (in a good way)! Be aware that the portion of the tour that goes into the open ocean can be a little bumpy (again, dependent on weather) so keep that in mind if you have back problems or are prone to seasickness. Still, I can’t recommend this tour enough! Our group ranged from young children to senior citizens and everyone had a great time.
Loved seeing all the animals! Our guide, Luigi, and the boat captain really knew all the good spots!
Great tour at the Sian Ka’an with this company. The guide Pablo was a great and knowledgeable guide with his extremely humour and charm. The pick-up was on time and the time schedule was perfect. Pablo and his crew took care of us and we learned a lot about the nature, animals and about the park. The tour was good organised, with a lot to see and explore. The road is for sure a very pumpy road, so be prepared for some massage. It’s also a long day. We did snorkel and saw shark, stingray and a lot of different fish. Outside Punta Allen we saw dolphins. The lunch at Punta Allen was great. I will recommend travelling with this company and take the tour.
This was a fantastic tour, we saw loads of wildlife including manatees, crocodiles, lots of birds. Our tour guides were so nice and very knowledgeable!
Amazing full day of adventure and sea life! Martin & Lea were so helpful with the knowledge of everything - it was perfect & would go again!!!!
It was an amazing experience! Our tour guide Niko was great and shared tons of great information with us! We saw so many beautiful birds and wildlife!
Can't recommend this tour enough. This tour company is very communicative and helped set up our tour last minute via WhatsApp. We opted for the full day over the half day and are so glad we did. Sian Ka'an is such a wonderful place teeming with wildlife and nature and lunch at Punta Allen was a huge bonus (get the fish!). Beyond seeing dolphins up close and being divvied up into small groups of no more than 6, the real highlight of the trip was our tour guide Miguel who was so informative, humorous and kind. If you are in the Tulum area, book this tour!!
This is not our first tour with Mexico Kan Tours, they are professionals. Martin has a lot of experience and he is very friendly. He has an eye to find the animals which in the wild are not easy to spot and with him we saw dolphins, turtles, manatees, exotic birds. He took good care of everyone during the snorkelling even if not everyone had the same swimming skills. Amazing experience!
Well organised and timed tour with priority to wildlife observation and scenic boat drive. Small groups. Only 6 people per boat. We had Lea, as a German speaking guide on the tour, which was very helpful to my travel buddy, who doesn’t speak any other languages. Lea was very friendly, and informative on local wildlife and nature. A very professional and experienced guide. The food in a local restaurant in Punta Allen was also good. Nice spot on the beach. I can definitely recommend this tour to anyone who likes nature and wildlife, and wants to be away from the crowds. 5 well deserved *****
It was an amazing tour where you see all the big animals in the nature reserve, we saw crocodiles, turtles, dolphins and manatee! The tour guides are super helpful and nice. We had Lea and Nico, both super knowledgeable and could answer all our questions! We also had a great lunch in punta allen at a cute local restaurant.
It was a very cool experience. We saw dolphins, a crocodile, a turtle and lots of birds. Also our guide Lea was great.
The tour with Léa was incredible. We saw a lot of animals and everthing was well explained, Overall every part of the trip is very professional and we felt very safe in Léa's hands. A full nature expérience just outside Tulum
Everything was fantastic. Leah was a phenomenal guide and very knowledgeable! Highly recommend her! We saw so many different animals!
Fantastic day with Macarena, Martin, and the rest of the crew. Wonderful combination of extensive knowledge, an adventurous and kind spirit, and great respect for the natural world. Thank you!
5 stars! 100% would book again! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 One of the best tours I've ever been on! Took a trip to Tulum for sister's 40th bday with a group of 8. There are no words to describe what an awesome day we had with Luigi & Hector and how special they made us feel: - they were punctual and courteous and BEYOND patient with us! - Luigi, the tour guide, is also a great photographer and used our phones to take some of the greatest pics of couples, groups and individuals 😍 🤩 and super funny ones also! - Hector, the most patient and informative driver, was so kind after a shoe broke and he brought us to a little store to buy new ones - Luigi is so knowledgeable about the area and was able to answer all of our questions - spacious van with great A/C drove us exactly where we needed to go and back I wish all tours and guides were this awesome. Would love to take another tour with them again!!!!
