This was an amazing trip! Lea was our guide and she did a great job sharing information with us about the area and caves that we explored!

Itinerary
This is a half day tour that combines snorkeling with Caribbean fish with an awesome private cenote & cave. First we visit a beautiful inlet to snorkel with the vast array of Caribbean fish and there is always the possibility to see a stingray or a sea turtle. For this activity we visit an inlet or a bay to avoid waves and currents, making the snorkeling safe & easy. Cenotes are one of the most attractive characteristics of the landscape of the Yucatan peninsula. These amazing caves are full of all kinds of magnificent limestone formations, stalactites and columns. But it is the fact that they are flooded with rainwater which makes them so special. These natural wells were and still are considered sacred - they provide access to the vital liquid that gives life (water) and in traditional Mayan thought, they are also the entrance to the Underworld. We visit an exclusive cavern where we are able to appreciate the different kinds of formations and learn about their process of evolution, walking through galleries for 600 m. underground. This is a truly magical and spiritual journey through the Mayan Underworld.

Our family of 5 (husband + older teens) did a half day snorkel and Mayan Underworld tour with Iber (guide) and Axle (driver). It was fantastic. We started with snorkelling in Tankah Bay with a small boat that took us to the reef, beyond the significant sargassum on the beach and in the shallows. The reef is shallow and still has beautiful topography (still lots of fan corals) but it’s sad to see the bleaching and patchy colouration on the corals. Iber pointed out barracuda, we saw squid, cuttlefish, numerous reef fish, and a sleeping sand tiger shark. A nice hour or so in the ocean! Axle then drove us to Cenote Santa Cruz for the Mayan Underworld part. After parking, Axel lead us through a jungle path to the cenote entrance with a canister of burning copal to deter the numerous mosquitoes (and he even hung our towels up to dry while we were in the Underworld. Thank you Axle!) Iber lead us through the cave system, imparting science and lore in a truly magical experience. Walking, swimming, crawling, ducking through low passages filled with stalagtites and stalagmites, we eventually made it to the cenote (with a rendering!) which was open to the sky and filled with crystal clear water. We exited via a different path. There was no one else in the cave system or cenote. We finished the tour with a lunch of delicious Mayan style tacos at Abuelo Miguel Taqueria in Akumal. The limanado with chaya was super refreshing. I can’t say enough about the small group which was just us but could’ve been up to only 8 people, and the care and information that Iber provided. We learned and experienced so much!
Leia made it a great time for me and my friends as we snorkeled, did the adventures in the cave, everything is great! after the tour, they would take you to a local restaurant for lunch and the food quality was better than expected. Overall great experience!
We had a full-day tour of 3 Cenotes with Pablo. It was one of the top experiences of our lives. Pablo was an amazing guide and the Cenotes were breath taking!!!
Marco was amazing guide. Everything was perfect. The undergrounds Cenote is once in a lifetime experience
The most amazing experience. Pablo our guide was full of knowledge and made the trip so much fun! The caves are a must, the hidden cenote was magic! Snorkeling on the reef was so fantastic
Beautiful day with Pablo. Very informative and fun tour. Would 100% recommend. Oscar our driver was amazing too.
Ruben and Carlos were fantastic. Underground tour was very nice and informative. Food was delicious!
We had a fantastic trip with Iber. Started off with a visit to the Tulum ruins. Iber was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information and showed photos to help us imagine. Next we had a trip out on a boat to the reef where we went snorkelling. We saw lots of fish and a southern stingray too. Finally, and the icing on the cake, was a visit to a private cenote which involved climbing down via a rope. Walking/swimming through the limestone stalactites and mites to the final pool. Really special. And a meal to finish. Thank you.
It was an absolutely amazing trip, our guide Iber made the day really special. He was extremely knowledgable and loved the places we visited, couldn’t have asked for more. We went snorkelling, to a temple, and a private cenote. 100% a 5* experience, could not recommend more.
I was grateful to have such a flexible and accommodating private tour guide, Saiid. This site didn’t have options for children and that changed things up a bit. He took us to a more safer place where we could enjoy snorkeling and swimming in the cenote. He also took us to a local taco place (taqueria maya).
The Mayan Underworld tour was a perfect day. Our guide Said provided us with a great tour for our family of four. We started the day snorkeling in a lagoon where we saw so many beautiful fish and even a barracuda and sting ray. We enjoyed it so much I would consider a half day of just snorkeling. Said was very helpful with my wife who is not a strong swimmer allowing her to also have a great time. From there we went to an underground cave and river that was amazing. The water felt a little cool or “fresh” as Said described it but we quickly became used to it. Said helped us capture many amazing photos and videos while in the cave. We had a fantastic experience!
Fantastic experience & highly recommend! Fernando was an exceptional guide. Super knowledgeable about the whole landscape
Lily was a wonderful guide. We loved the underground cenotes and the lunch, as well as learning about the Mayan culture.
We had such a great time snorkelling Yal-Ku and exploring the cenote. Our tour guide Pablo was super insightful and made us laugh throughout the tour. Thank you for a great tour and wonderful memories.
This tour was amazing! The cenote tour was the highlight—a truly magical experience! Our tour guide Iber and his assistant Martín were so kind, knowledgeable, and experienced. They made the tour truly amazing for us! There aren’t words to describe the cenote—you have to experience it for yourself. Iber made the experience extra special with his knowledge of the history of the Mayans and with a unique meditation in the dark underground sacred Mayan world. I highly recommend! Gracias a Iber y Martín por un día nut especial!
We have used this company 3 times and they are great would definitely recommend!! We did the Mayan underground cenote and snorkeling at Akumal with Karen. She was the best, she even pulled us around during the snorkeling. We were able to see a lot of fish and the underground cenote was absolutely amazing! Had a great vegetarian lunch and the granola they give u for a snack is delicious! Definitely recommend this tour and this company!!
Our group had a wonderful adventure - visiting the Mayan ruins in Tulum, snorkeling in a lagoon and exploring a private cenote. Our guide, Marie, was extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions. She made sure that our diverse group had a really good time (ages from 60+ to mid-20's). I highly recommend this experience. Lunch was really good as well.
The tour was excellent from start to finish, Iver the tour guide was excellent, he treated us so well that we felt like being with another family member, in my opinion he is a very kind person, he made us feel very safe all the time, he explained very kindly everything about the tour with all single detail, I consider he is very knowledgeable about the history of this place; cities and state of Qintanaroo, Thank you so much Iver, we promise to come back for another tour with you soon
Ursula is a great guide and made our experience super special. We did the 3 cenote tour and I will never forget it. Super recommended
An incredible snorkeling walk near the reef and appreciate the corals and variety of colorful fish. Undoubtedly our favorite part was exploring the cavern. With river running underground and the strong connection for Mayan culture these caves represent. Our guide was super friendly and with lots of valuable information. As we booked on private tour... we were almost alone in this place. Enjoy the darkness and silence. Just magic
Thank you for the day. This trick is truly fabulous. The cenote is beautiful. It is a closed cenote where we went to explore the limestone formations more closely. It’s like an underground cellar. An excellent aquatic day of snorkeling in the treasures of Yucatan. Lunch was delicious and our guide super interesting and smiling.
This tour was amazing!! The best, the closed cenote... beautiful!!!! If you come to Tulum, do not hesitate to do this tour, it is worth a lot of experience!
