We had an incredible private day tour to Chichen Itza and Valladolid with Hugo from Local Travel Mexico! Hugo was personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience seamless from start to finish. The car was extremely comfortable, and we learned so much about Chichen Itza thanks to Hugo’s expertise and passion for the history and culture. After exploring, we enjoyed a delicious Yucatán buffet lunch and then swam in a gorgeous cenote that felt absolutely magical. Thank you, Hugo, for such a wonderful and unforgettable day — we highly recommend this tour!

This was easily our favorite day in Mexico, and that is almost entirely due to Hugo. What a great tour guide he was! Friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. He was clearly as geeked out as we were about Mayan history, their calendars, their writing system (TIL they had one), etc. It was a long, hot morning walking through Chichén Itzá, but Hugo kept the energy up, answered everyone's questions if he was able. It was the rare question he did not have an answer to. We then headed to Hacienda Selva Maya outside Valladolid for lunch and a swim in a cenote. The lunch was standard buffet fare, but the quality was pretty good and everyone got something they liked. Hugo recommended the lime soup, and that was actually pretty delicious. Lastly we got to swim in Cenote Saamal, and it was breathtaking. We visited another cenote later in the trip and Saamal was FAR more impressive. Floating in the cool water looking up at the blue sky, surrounded by the walls of the cenote was a singular experience. After the swim we had an option to head into Valladolid for shopping and sightseeing, but our group was frankly exhausted, so Hugo drove us home. All in all, a great day. Highly recommended, and if you book, ask for Hugo!

Our tour organiser, Rubén (from local travel Mexico) was very responsive and helpful providing essential information in advance for our tour. Our tour guide, Hisa, was very knowledgable, accommodating, pleasant and patient - we had young kids and senior citizens in our group and he took that into account in adapting the tour to meet our needs. Would definitely recommend!

This tour was an experience we will never forget. Ruben was our driver and tour guide, he’s also the owner of the tour company. From the moment I made this reservation, his communication was top tier. We started at 7AM and arrived back at our resort at 4:30PM, which was almost 10 hours. The price of the tour was worth every penny. Ruben made the tour very personalized. He had drinks on board, stopped for bathroom breaks, and was more than accommodating. His knowledge behind the Chichen Itzá was incredible and we learned so much. I would recommend this tour to anyone out there, it’s safe and the communication is unmatched. Our guide was informative, friendly and flexible. We had a perfect day. This was the best of our trip and I would recommend it for anyone wanting a private tour. We had a thousand questions, which were all answered!

Hisael was amazing! Kind and knowledgeable. He made our anniversary special and accommodated us when our plans had to change for my husbands injury. He made us feel comfortable with conversation even though we are shy. The food was delicious as well! Strongly recommend this tour

Fantastic experience! Our driver, Hisa was so kind and made us feel like family. Incredibly knowledgeable and spoke English very well. Arrived right on time to the hotel. Made stops and accommodattions along the way to meet our every need. The centoe' lunch was a massive buffet with traditional delicous cuisine (very yummy), a quick stop in Valladolid and straight back to the hotel. 10 out of 10 would reccomend!

I feel like I’ve had many guides on many different trips. The best are the ones that have much knowledge to share and adapt to the clients that they are serving. Ruben did an amazing job of covering all the bases with expertise and sensitivity and curiosity. We covered a lot of ground and he is zipped us around efficiently in his BYD. I would recommend him highly to anyone looking for a tour anywhere on the Yucatán Peninsula.

We had a great time. Hugo was an amazing tour guide, very accommodating and explained everything thoroughly in a great way - it never felt showy like in some of the more commercial/mainstream tours. The site is very popular so there will be a crowd regardless of when you go, especially at the entrance because it’s the place where the restrooms are and it gets packed but once inside it’s big enough that you don’t really feel like it’s too crowded while you’re walking around. That being said I would suggest not going on a Sunday since those days they might have free admission for Mexican nationals and that increases the amount of people exponentially. In general we highly recommend hiring a tour with Local Travel.

Ruben and Miguel were the best tour guides! We travelled three adults and one very difficult child and Ruben made the tour so much fun. We had a great time and we got to bypass the lines when we were in Chechen itza. There were a gazillion people there which is so hard to travel with a child but Ruben got us through the crowds! Thank you sooooo much!

This tour was absolutely fantastic and Ruben was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. He made us feel welcome and comfortable and catered to every need. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate which makes the tour not only fun, but very interesting as he teaches you all about the Mayan culture and history of the area. The Cenote was beautiful and not too crowded and you’re given as much free time as you like to swim and take it all in, followed by an amazing lunch full of local delicacies, which were delicious! Organisationally everything was taken care of and the transfers and pick ups were all on time in great vehicles ensuring maximum comfort. Finally Ruben is incredibly kind and genuine and can tailor the tour to however you would like it, so I cannot recommend this enough!!

We had the honor of being hosted by Hisael on this tour. We felt completely safe, cared for and spoiled by him the entire trip. We were able to have a completely personalized trip and avoid the crowds that usually are on this kind of experience. He was so patient with us and the youngest and slowest in our group. I couldn’t recommend this enough. He made this a truly once in a lifetime experience.

We were pleased with our excursion experience and transportation services with Local Travel Mexico. The owner and his tour guide were flexible willing to accommodate our travel needs. Our guide Manuel was personable and well versed in the tour background keeping things interesting. It was money and time well spent!

We had a great day with Ruben, getting picked up in a comfortable air conned car and offered water and a few snacks also which was a nice touch for the long drive. He was very knowledgeable and, importantly, passionate about Mexican and Mayan culture. He was very friendly, relaxed and easy going. We set off to arrive at Chichen Itza for opening time and were taken round at our own pace and explained all about the area, the history and the culture. The tickets for entry were prebooked and so we skipped a growing queue (and this was when it was very quiet!!). He was very engaged in any questions we had and allowed us time to walk freely around the grounds and markets. He also took pictures for us and showed us some great spots for excellent shots. He then took us to Cenote Oxman which is only a short journey away from Chichen Itza, for a swim in the water and some lunch. The cenote is very picturesque with clear blue water, lots of catfish swimming around and some incredible roots descending all the way from the surface to the water level. There is also a rope swing which everyone was having a great time with. Life jackets are mandatory (a cenote rule). Lunch itself is served buffet style, they allow multiple trips and was actually very well prepared traditional local food - we very much enjoyed it! Thanks to Ruben for helping translate and inform us of all the different dishes as the canteen doesn't provide any information for them at all (although the staff did help at times). Drinks are not included with lunch and were very enjoyable but definitely felt like tourist prices (245 peso (approx £10) for a margarita and a bottle of beer) which was surprising given its fairly remote location and visited by locals - nonetheless, they were very refreshing and a great thing to have after such an amazing morning. We were then driven home just as a bus load of a tour arrived, again beating the crowds for both time in the cenote and canteen. We had a fantastic morning and the private tour honestly made it so much more special. The local and professional knowledge of the guide (Ruben in our case) made the day flow so well, and for an incredibly modest cost difference to the Tui bus tour, I couldn't recommend the private tour option enough!

We had the pleasure of going to chichen itza, cenotes and valladolid with Ruben and it was outstanding. The knowledge he has and the information provided was mind blowing. He took us to a traditional Mexican/Mayan buffet which was out of this world. If you are thinking about it, do it! We will be booking more excursions with him next time we are in Mexico no doubt at all.

We had today our first Privat tour (three Persons) in Mexico. We were with our Guide Eduardo who was such a nice and friendly Person! Our tour started in Chichen Itza where Eduardo explaind us everything exactly in Englisch also wenn our Englisch was not realy the best ;) Our next stop was then Ek-Balam where we went on top of the Temple - It was an amazing view! Then we drove to an Cetone about 30 minutes from Ek-Balam, there we could swim a little bit and had lunch. After that we drove to Valladolid and had there also a short Stop. Wenn we finished he drove us back to de Hotel (2 hours) but even that time went pretty fast by with Eduardo cause he Entertaind us all the time so we were never bored! We had realy such agreat time and he does his work with so much fun and Heart that we will never forget our Daytrip - Thank you very much Eduardo! Many thanks to the boss Ruben who made this all possible with our special whises for the route! (To Add Ek-Balam to our route) If we are doing again a Trip then just with Eduardo ;)

I was with my Family on a Daytrip (Chichen Itza-Ek Balam-Cenote-Valladolid) with our Top Guide Eduardo😄 Our Trip was more then AMAZING we can‘t even describe in words how this day was for us! We learnd so much about de Maya History and the Mexican History from Eduardo it was like he knows EVERYTHING there was no question where he hadn‘t an answer, his known was pretty impressing We will come again to Mexico and make for sure again a Trip with Eduardo!😄 Thanks to Ruben that our speciel whised (add Ek Balam) with this route was possible!
